If you remember in your college days we draw bending moment and shear force diagram in first year, the udl load characteristic was paroblic and hence to take that load the tension in the girder has to be parabolic. Thats why we always do a parabolic profiling in girder. Not in only girder but in every structure which is prestressed with UDL loading.
