Excellent video and shout out to Tacx for allowing you to take such detail shots. Work in manufacturing myself and always cool to see how other places go about their business to make a consistent product.
Whenever I see a video like this it makes me think how mind numbing it must be to work in a factory assembly line. I glad people do it, I don't think I would last.
I did production work in my student days fir extra cash and the tyoes of work and workplace varies so much. High pace standing work in hot or very cold factories to very clean light pace seated high tech manufacturing. That factory looks pretty good compared to a lot ive seen. But youre right it takes a certain mindset to make one product over and over.
They rule enforcement police may be able to stop you, Shane, but they can't stop my from playing the "How It's Made" theme song in my head while watching this video.
Great insight thanks Shane. I was waiting for the overlay to say at 2:03 “new blue pants being fitted”. 🤣 I’ve ordered a Neo 2 to replace my Flux that started making noises it shouldn’t so I’m anxiously awaiting arrival into Australia as I’m without a trainer at the moment. 😥
Cool video! Shane, any chance you can repeat your 'does gear selection matter?' test you did on the kickr on the neo2 please? I'm a TT'er with a Neo and would be very interested to know if there is indeed a difference on the Neo between say 39/19 and 53/15 at the same wattage
@@Takumi-San yes clearly the gear ratios are different but the Neo doesn't have a normal flywheel or interia model like a traditional direct drive like the kickr. While I've tried both 39/21-19 and 53/15 for my intervals, I'm always conscious of my internal bias that I 'know' what gear I'm using and this is clouding any judgement. Hence me asking for the quick video with the pedaling analytics to prove it like it in the kickr video.
Cool. As much as I love my Elite Turbo Muin having ridding the Neo one I still wish I had had the extra $1000 at the time, would have been worth every penny.
Hey Shane, sorry I'm a bit late... I was wondering what your personal favourite smart trainer is. I'd prefer a modern machine and it doesn't need to be quiet as it will be downstairs. I'd like accurate power readings and a good quality build as it will get a lot of hours and use. Also the ability to make custom workouts to follow. Thanks
Best 'training' trainer. Lemond Revolution. Best smart trainer.... it depends. The top end are all pretty solid units. It comes down to budget, compatibility, and what's available. If you can test ride then I'd highly recommend it.
Shane Miller - GPLama yeah a friend has a direto and I really liked it. I think I might go with that as I have found some good prices online. Thanks for the feedback.
I still can’t decide between the neo2 and the kicker 18. The idea that Zwift will have MTB riding and mud slipping or rock bumps on the neo2 being a possibility is intriguing. However the robust build of the kicker seems way easier to live with for many years. Hoping you can help me decide in the next month or 2.
Great video guy's, as always brilliant. I've really enjoyed all the content this year it's been interesting and made me train indoors more on the cold dark wet frosty windy days, you get the picture, cheers guys and good luck for 2019🎅🎉🎉🎉
Hi Shane Another great video (as usual). I am seriously considering selling my OG Kickr and getting this trainer (or the new Kickr). I think my deciding factor will be whether or not I get the Kickr Climb (I am also getting a new bike due to some back issues I having so I am considering a recumbent bike aka a Lightning bike which are based in California and run by a guy named Tim). I am just not sure if the Climb will work with the recumbent bike as it has a smaller front wheel (the same road wheel that my Defy has). I love this new Neo 2 (even if there are only slight differences and the future proof of this trainer with the memory on board is so cool). I do have a question which is why Tacx decided to make the underside blue (no one sees the underside once they put the trainer down on a mat [and ride]). Regardless I am still considering this (I do like Wahoo's customer service as they helped me when I was having issues with my current Kickr and they are based in the US aka over the border from me whereas Tacx is across the pond so CS might not be as good although I am sure it is still okay [if I have any issues which hopefully I won't have[). Anyway keep making these awesome videos (and I will keep watching them). Have a great weekend.
I read a lot about problems with the engine after a couple of months intensive use though. Mostly on cycle forums. Does anyone know more about the sustainability of the tacx Neo 2?
The Tacx Neo 2T trainer quickly slows down when you stop pedaling, even if you're riding in a peloton on Zwift. In reality, a cyclist should be able to coast and stay in the aerodynamic tunnel for quite some time. I believe that the simulation in the Zwift app does not accurately reflect reality or Tacx has some control problems. Do you share the same opinion on this topic?
Had mine and now it's non functional. Just stopped working after three months. Waiting on replies from the supplier. When it was working it was fantastic. Simulates grav, board walk, sand and snow feel. Lights won't turn on. No resistance. Probably won't buy another if the suppliers and manufacturers won't honor their warranty period. Loved it when it was working. Kicks ass compared to wahoo kickr
Great to know how this high quality smart trainer is made. Very informative!
Thank you!

Super cool! Robots! Fun to see the internals of the Neo as well. Always wondered what's in there.

Great video - thanks very much. Proud to own a Neo Pro and a Neo Bike seeing how they're made.
che spettacolo vedere come è stato costruito il mio nuovo rullo! Great!
Tacx, if you need someone to test on of these in the USA, then I’m your guy!
Is that the grown up version of Santa’s factory ? For me it is !
Thank you Shane for giving big kids something to watch while waiting for the 25th !
Great to see it's not made in China.
Too right, kudos to tacx for that 😉
Makes a change actually and worth paying the price going to proper wages.
Good on Tacx
That was great. Good choice on the background music too
The components are probably made in China and the assembly in the Netherlands.
Nice great tour!
Awesome, thanks!
I agree totally fascinating to watch.

Idd expensive thing but you can see why. Great music on this vid btw!

Im a Neo user and absolutely sure it does make a difference with smaller front being more easy
the gear ratios are very different (2.05 vs 3.53), so it will be a different. Cadence comes to mind.

@@bobby5031 Had my direto since Nov. It has worked amazing using Zwift and TR. You won't be disappointed.
rob bonner thanks for the info. Sounds like a good buy. :)

Hi Shane, great video, does the Neo have leveling legs for uneven floors?

they should test them before sending them. mine is defective, the bearings do not slide well :(
Nice one! Neo one of the most advanced assembly lines around?
I'm waiting until the boxing day sales to order mine £1200 atm + a cassette tut, tut Tacx.
Did they let you peek into the R&D dept 🤩🤩❓
Maybe 🤐
🤣bet you had to sign a legal non-disclosure/trademark non infringement contract for that☺️🙃👍🏻😢
With such a seemingly large base, where does that "wobble" come from? Is it meant to be there?
Flex in the design. It’s not a bad thing imo. I guess they’ll claim it’s by design.
@@gplama At the joint between the base/legs and upright section? Any chance this could be a failure point? Hmmm....
Interesting as always Shane.
NOT Sponsored by Peloton 😉

What’s happening with the new Neo smart bike? Seems to keep getting delayed!
Hey I want to have an empty box of this trainer! My old box is destroyed during transport! How can I get it?
A local reseller of Tacx/Garmin products is your best option here.
Nice vid and nice device... Although I have a Kickr 18 😅
I think the video looked even better if you had done both at the same time Flux2 and Neo2, they are the best sellers in Tacx.

Did you score a black or blue jacket?
Haha, neither. I’d wear one though. They look neat.
any health concerns with the Magnet, if riding frequently and long rides ?
Personally, I have zero issues with this.

What country are you in? Keep me posted on the outcome.
I wish I had a smart trainer , but so would every one who own only a dummy trainer

do I comment?
Tacx Neo T2800 & Neo 2 is not 100% whit Disc Compatible !!!!!!
