Tommy Aldridge, one of the most iconic drummers of all time, was the only drummer who got a standing ovation during the Remo Drummer Night in Manchester. Performing Whitesnake's 'Crying in the Rain', the God-like Rock drummer from also Pat Travers, Ozzy Osbourne and Gary Moore was a 6-minute whirlwind of boosting energy taking literally everybody in the room to Jetstream levels. The ones who were there will never forget this moment: a six-minute demonstration of how Rock drumming must be played. Prepare to be stunned!

Tommy is a serious icon of American hard rock and metal drumming. Dude should be in the rock roll hall of fame just for being a drummer who has made a major impact on the musical landscape.

Sometimes it looks like he doesn’t know what to do next and at the very last second he smashes about 3 different things and it sounds great!
I noticed that too. It's like he's almost about to lose it and never does. He's a total beast and an absolute legend. Mad, mad respect.

Fans of his drumming should know this too: He is a sweet, good-hearted person. God Bless.
Yes Aldridge is a Christian and lives it. Amazing within itself considering the world he has lived in for the last 50 years
Did you see his interview in The Sessions. Amazingly sweet and insightful. Look for it, here in UA-cam. Unbelievable excelent, and hisorically precise

Not to hijack or take anything away from Tommy but, if you wanna see some brilliant cymbal chokes, Sugarfoot, Michael Jackson's tour drummer, does some killer work. He doesn't use cymbal chokes as much but the behind his head double chokes are really cool,

Ummmmm. Has anyone heard of John Bonham? He was the original power-hitter.
This is a man who loves his job.
I’ve loved Tommy Aldrich since the early 80’s playing with Ozzy’s band. The lineup on Speak Of the Devil was gnarly. What a huge impression that album made on a 8-9yo me, just starting to pick up the drums. He’s still a pleasure to watch as well as listen to.
I had that on cassette wore it out. A few years ago I looked for a download and could not find it. Ended up having to order it from England as it was not available in the US at that time.
Power drummer is an understatement. This man is always full on beast mode when he plays, and is a true legend!

The Remo guys were praying through Tommy's entire performance, "please God don't let the drum heads break"!
😂😂😂 Facts tho.
Damn right they were. Tommy always has that intensity.
I was hoping the oak in those sticks was going to hold up. I saw pieces coming off his left one.
Tommy started out playing Evans heads, the Blue Hydraulic ones. I first saw him live, when he was on tour with Black Oak Arkansas. He played JUST LIKE THIS then, and that was in 1971. I never saw anybody play like that before. There's only ONE Tommy Aldridge.
Most bands would kill for a drummer with this much attack and control all wrapped up in a blanket of pocket power baby! The man’s a Legend!

All my drum teachers told me these things: use more wrists. less arms. Relax, don't be tense.
I guess this guy didn't have the same kind of teachers.... wow, no bounce, no wrists. Seems like a lot of energy could be spared here but man, he's landing everything neat and tight and powerful. Great performance.
Tommy never had a drum teacher. He's self taught. Using his whole body all the time not only keeps him at about 130 lbs, it's also very visual. I still prefer to watch Cozy though.
Tommy admits this during a Drumeo appearance that he doesnt understand why they would want him there. He never learned all the intricate aspects to drumming. He has just done HIS thing and it has worked for him. He has never claimed anything more. Humble dude for sure.

One of our generation's most underrated drummers. Never got the recognition he so rightly deserved.

Not just confuse but exasperate. Surely the most ubiquitous word found in UA-cam comments. EVERYTHING on UA-cam is "underrated". Don't believe me? Dig up the most random song or band that comes to mind, preferably from previous decades, and check how many comments you have to read before you see "underrated".
He blows guys like Tommy Lee and Rikki Rocket away so I have to go with under acknowledged. Rock on!!!

on one hand, this man never ages. on the other hand, he's looked 80 for the entire 40 years i've listened to him, so as long as he still plays like he's 18, i'll still be banging my head to him. maybe even till he looks young for his age :-)
