58 and looks 88.
I got a stick from him at the very first American show of Blizzard of Ozz,in Maryland, when I lived back East....Randy Rhoads on guitar, and Rudy Sarzo,(who I met 30 or so years later, in Tucson
Yup. I saw him with Black Oak Arkansas too.
@Big Tex Add 10 years.
Got to see him in 80s with Coverdale on lead vocals. Great drummer.
this is where grannpa said..."hold my beer and let me show you how its done kid"
LOL
thats what Danny Carrey said .......
How he controlled the splash... everlasting
Lucky you its not hold my prick....
Hell Yeah!
I've seen him play live several times in many band's. He's one of the GOATS.
One of the VERY BEST drummers in the business....and has been for 35 years...at the age of 70.....he absolutely amazing
Old school song endings are everything in rock. They always have to be half the length of the song. What a guy. Thank you.
Now that’s how a rock drummer captivates a crowd!
Chad Young Tommy 10million times better than Zoltan
Check out Snowy Shaw as well!! Power, groove, technique. Just like mr Aldrige
with only a single tom-tom yet he deliver full cover of drumming for that song... that is incredible!!!
I love it how he chokes the cymbals with the same hand that he hits them with.
Nice guy, humble....can play drums- meh
Not to hijack or take anything away from Tommy but, if you wanna see some brilliant cymbal chokes, Sugarfoot, Michael Jackson's tour drummer, does some killer work. He doesn't use cymbal chokes as much but the behind his head double chokes are really cool,

The ending is just as cool as it gets. ua-cam.com/video/bRM2Gn9nU7Q/v-deo.html
I met Tommy many years ago at a drum clinic. He was UNBELIEVABLY CORDIAL AND VERY ENGAGED IN OUR CONVERSATION! I couldn’t believe how friendly and respectful he was towards me and everyone else that met him for the first time! A TRUE GENTLEMAN! By the way, Tommy plays the drums the way you are supposed to play them..........WITH RECTLESS
It's no joke that TA is one of, if not THEE most humble and approachable professional musician in the world.
BCGunner. My friend, I agree with you 100%! Tommy could not have been nicer! I LOVE HIS LAUGH! Truly genuine!
Can't help watching this regularly..I play drums but wish I had Tommy's skill...Legend...
Thank you!
This is what drumming is all about, solid in the pocket, no unnecessary flashy fills, passion, playing the song holding everything together LOVE IT!! Well Mr Aldrige you are a legend indeed!!!
Combine a lot of talent with dedication, commitment, and years of experience and you have a legendary drummer. Every part is extremely well written and perfect for the song.
I always forget how hard Tommy hits. What's amazing is, for someone who's always on 10 for heavy hitting, he still has great dynamics and nuances. Absolute powerhouse with great feel
I haven't heard a rock drummer his age "bring it" like this. This is the way it should be...
Michael Fleetwood is still rockin...big dude and keeps playing while the others go on break lol
Peart... but even mighty Neil had to succumb to back problems, joint problems, et al. Nicko is still bringing it, though might be a little younger.
Watch Liberty DeVitto play.
@@DontLetTheOldManIn Nico is 67 and still killing it. At least when I seen him 2 weeks ago.
@@robertjablonski9830 I know! Saw them in July in Atlanta, amazing show. Wish it went longer. 16 tunes, felt like 20 minutes.. Was in the Pit, great place to see them. Nicko still has mad skills, super athletic dude.
Could watch him all day! Gosh I miss this style of music!
Intensity,attitude,conviction just equaled killer performance.
Proper drumming legend , god my arms ache just watching this and he is 20 years older ......wow!!!
F'n AMAZING. Glad I watched this. Made my night.
His pocket is nuts. That subtle on the beat then laid back creates such a beautiful space . Wow tight
I could feel that percussion all the way up in northern Manitoba awesome tommy, been a fan for a long while.
Now this is what rock drumming is all about. Love the energy that Tommy Aldridge brings to the drumkit. Just Amazing!!!
I've met Tommy on several occasions and he's one of the nicest guy's you'll ever meet.
At 68 years old Tommy shows true passion for his love of playing drums and continues to excel at a level most drummers will never reach he is a badass dude and the true monk of drums grasshoppers
I saw him live for whitesnake in 2019, couldn't believe my eyes, insane drummer
I saw Tommy as Opening Act for Whitesnake in 1983, with Ozzy. Back then he was already quite, good, the Boy
3:30 he twirls the sticks - my mouth drops open and he keeps going
4:00 my eyes widen
5:00 am I hallucinating? I’m confused.
5:30 no way - his heart
5:50 he kills it - demolishes it
6:02 - jumps right up, all energetic
Me - Speechless
If your mouth drops open already by seeing a drummer twirl his sticks you could do well with some therapeutic help.
Dude is 68!! What an inspiration. Fabulous drummer...go Tommy!!
Respect your elders. They always have and always will know more than you. Some of them can still outshine you as well.
Save for Mike Mitchell. That cat is insane
I will say most of them can outshine you if you are 20, or 30, or even 40, etc!!!
wowwwww. What huge energy he had with nearly 70y old then.
hes old but hits like a young drummer he is one of a kind young at heart and the passion is still there thats why he is still around ,, youre amazing tommy God Bless you
One of the bests, if not the best. Up there on their pedestals. And this proves a drummer does not have to have a too complicated kit to play. Very simple setup. It comes from the heart. From one musician to another, keep on keepin' on!
Glad, I, got to see this! I, was in Awe. This is the Mr.Aldridge who played with OZZY, Randy,&Rudy,I just wanted everyone to know what phenomenal playing is 👌 with this Super Drummer, Super Star 🌟 Thanks for sharing this with me, it made my day.
Only Tommy and Cozy Powell had the ability and the will to produce such a sound with extra balls in it.... These two guys were not just drummers, they were thunder maker!!!
Let's not forget about Bill Ward.
Hmmmm????
"Only"?
Lol, where do you guys come from?
He would do a far better job playing with Steve vai
Vinnie Paul
Ummmmm. Has anyone heard of John Bonham? He was the original power-hitter.
Only,Tommy could pull that off on a four peice kit. Such a legend!
One of the more underrated drummers in rock. He was an absolute beast with Pat Travers
Not underrated at all the guy's amazing his drum solo on Ozzy's tribute album is cool as stink and ya can't whack a good rock n roll ending to a song makes the world go round
doug peters Underrated? What rock have you been living under?
Thanks for mentioning Pat Travers, what a show to see.
@@jimhogg6460 .. i saw him live with ozzy and randy rhoads around 1978 or so.. probably my favorite live drum performance i've ever seen.. just jaw dropping. i had only started playing drums for about a year and every concert that i went to, i would be watching the drummer about 95 percent of the show.
@@mikes8386 more likely 80/81 Mike... Rhoads auditioned for Ozzy late '79....
When they were handing out Talent and Hair Tommy got BLESSED...
and wrinkles
uhhh.. I don't think that hair is real. Tommy is great though. One of my first drum videos on VHS is his from the late 80's. Rock on Tommy A!
@@kevinbozman2572 why wouldn't it be real?
Kevin Bozman it’s real
@@kevinbozman2572 ...and you think that, why? He's ALWAYS had that huge cool-ass flailing head o' hair.
One of my Favorite drummers since Pat Travers Band. In Seattle I saw him come off stage behind David Coverdale at the end of a show and Coverdale reached down and flung a fans 6 inch high heel shoe back out into the crowd without looking and nailed Tommy right in the face. Glad he didn’t lose an eye.
