- John Newton imagines meeting the eyes of Jesus as he was dying on the cross. Set to beautiful haunting music by Sovereign Grace's Bob Kauflin in the album "Songs for the Cross-Centered Life".
This is such a Godly song. It shows how much God loves us even though we are so sinful. He died for us when we were enemies of God and when we were spiritually dead. But he died for us and forgave us. His grace and love are amazing.
Amen :)
Another heart rending song from John Newton. All three hymns by him... "Amazing Grace", "I Asked The Lord", and "The Look"... if they don't make you see yourself and your sins and God's grace in Christ and don't make you cry, I say start questioning your conversion... Oh so sweet the pure gospel...
I'm blessed when i was listening to this song and slowly picking up the golden message of this song, I'm not worthy for his love. All i can offer him is my broken life, and instead of pushing me away he took me in his family and takes care of me, washed me with his blood. So lucky to be saved by our Saviour.
I am really looking forward to meeting John Newton and his dear friend William Cowper in the glory. What incredible poetry they both wrote to the glory of God!
Amen!
This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Absolutely anointed.

So good man
I don't deserve to be forgiven.
+MrMrsalligator There is always hope and give yourself second chance.
+MrMrsalligator None of us deserve it--that's the meaning of grace!
Brian Weeden Thank you. If you would, I could use prayer in puting Christ first, instead of puting me first.
Thanks be to God, there is a way to be forgiven even if you don't deserve it.
@@MrMrsalligator I hope you’ve been putting Christ first lately. I feel the same need
Who saved a wretch like me.
These are the lyrics Newton wrote to Amazing Grace.

Wow.
I agree. By doing so, he changed the meaning of the original poem. He should have left Newton's name off of it! :-(
of course then he would have been accused of plagiarizing
:-)
