- This past year I have played through every single Soulsborne game.
Yep that's right I've played through Dark souls, Dark Souls 2, Dark souls 3, Sekrio, Bloodborne, and even Elden Ring.
Now its finally time I get my hands on Demon Souls. Will I like it? Who knows.
I'm so flipping hyped for Shadow of erdtree you don't even understand.. Can we get some W's in chat.
(I hope no one reads this)

Sad Allant didn't show his grab, the single most horrific attack in Souls history...
It removes an entire level from your character when he grabs you 💀
i literally started fat rolling mid fight 😭😭
Oh my god I thought Bloodborne brainsuckers were bad for removing insight but that’s insane. Does that mean it’s possible for a bad player to lose almost all their levels fighting him??
@@monhi64 He leaves your souls at your bloodstain if you die, so if you die again its totally possible. It just takes really really long
Miyazaki was VILE for that one
@@monhi64 Insight doesn't even matter lol
I remember my Old Monk fight went very differently because I was connected online and a player took over the boss. It was a test of endurance. We both had beefy armor and shields along with max healing items. And you can have a TON of healing items in that game. The fight easily lasted at least an hour. I screamed so loud when I finally won. Still probably my favorite pvp experience in any of the soulsborne games.
Its interesting cause that was the start of the entire PVP culture around souls games. I remember watching YT around the time the game released and there was a lot of PVP focused videos by then.
wait til you fight Mirror knight in DS2 and Halflight in DS3
💀bro locked in
Cool 😊 I never got to fight a player there.
This game is not bad whatsoever, but it's the first of its kind and it shows, a lot of quality of life things are not here yet
I just didn’t enjoy this game. I’m enjoying Dark Souls 1. I still beat it, but I just didn’t enjoy it. It feels like it’s more frustrating than it is challenging or fun.
Demon souls was amazing to play when it first released, thats how ive got into the souls series, but just like youve said, it didnt aged well and this "Remake"(wich feels more like a remaster) is just a waste of potential, this game couldve been amazing but for some reason they've focused 100% on upgrading the visuals and let the rest of the game EXACTLY THE FREAKING SAME, its very desapointing as a (Fake)remake.
Stupid comment. You’re repeating talking points you read elsewhere. This game is awesome. It’s the most enigmatic in the series, the nexus is the coolest hub, the world tendency stuff is strange and wonderful and the graphics are stellar. The swamp area in this game is so much more interesting than blight town, as are the castle areas (compared to DS1)
@@CutieSenussi thank you
the swamp area is not more interesting than blight town. even blight town leads to 2 different areas, one of them being extremely hidden and hard to naturally find (ash lake). the swamp in Demons is boring and bland and basically linear, 80% open space with nothing in it.@@CutieSenussi
Demon's Souls is phenomenal, don't let anyone say different.
FAXXXX
they didn't need to change the way the final boss or other things looked, and the remake is way too bright/colourful compared to the original
I dunno, I really liked the graphics, I honestly believe it's the best looking Souls game and I've beaten them all.
Its too hard not a game for casual gamers
Sure. But to believe that the remake isn’t trash shows how distasteful you are.
demons souls was my childhood, some people had halo or zelda, I had demons souls. It might not be the best game but it holds such a special place in my heart

I had been waiting for that remake to be released on PC, but when it wasnt, i decided to try the OG on rspc3, i wasnt dissapointed.

@YimmythegWho gives a shit if it holds up? They're talking about childhood memories you absolute goober
original Demon Souls darkest vibes, great aesthetic, best music. Weird, unsettling, haunting
Tower of Latria, The Horror.. The Horror... And i couldn't believe Miyazaki put another Poisonous Area into Dark Souls (with even worse framerate)
And the remake SUCKS since it has none of that. They butchered the art direction so badly.
@@catoticneutral it doesn't suck. it's pretty awesome. but it's different, and less original and uniquely flavored
“Will you speed this up? I have the plague”. lol
I’ve always preferred the parts between bosses in souls games and seeing all the enemies and exploring
These bosses weren't easy in 2009. They're only easy when you go back and play this game after you've played the newer ones. From Software have escalated the difficulty of their games with each entry. Bosses have gotten faster and more complex. If you've developed your player skill to the point of being able to beat these much harder bosses the older ones seem easy be comparison.
But in 2009 that shit was different. There was no wiki at the time. You didn't know how half the game's systems worked. My character from 2009 had a +2 or +3 weapon because I never found out how to upgrade any further. What do the attributes do? I don't know. The little icons that tell you which attribute a weapon uses for scaling? Didn't know what those icons meant.
There's a massive gulf between playing the PS3 original in 2009 and playing the PS5 Remake in 2020-2024.
Back in 2009, Demon's Souls was one of the hardest, most oppressive, most unforgiving games we had seen in years.
Wish I had played it back then. I was an Xbox guy at the time. I did have a similar experience with Dark Souls in 2012, though. The game was so radically different to anything I had been playing around that time.
Don’t forget the invasion/summoning mechanic which was completely new at the time.
And world tendency that unlock or not some parts of the levels.
Cringe
Demon's Souls was the only game I HAD to look through the manual to find out what all the attributes did back in 2010
Demons souls is not the hardest souls game but it DEFINITELY is the MOST unforgiving.
huh?
@@mikeyswift2010 huh
My souls games experience is so backwards from everyone elses. Demon's Souls was probably the hardest games in the franchise to me. Maybe i just choked under the pressure of knowing that failing would send me back to the start of the level, or maybe I just played the areas in the wrong order. For whaetver reason, Demon's Souls was really difficult for me, but I feel the opposite as everyone else does about the bosses too. It has some of my favorite in the series. As someone who grew up on zelda, gank bosses have always had a special place in my heart, and Demon's Souls is fulled with them. As for the easiest souls game to me, it is surprisingly Sekiro. The combat clicked with me almost instantly, and I only had a few bumps in the road as far as difficulty in that game
"Can I just grab..."
Dragon: Absolutely F****KIN NOT!

Demon's Souls Remake is amazing.
YES, I played the OG Demon's Souls PS3 - day one. And this remake genuinely felt amazing
@Berserk_96
I wouldn't go that far, yes the game looks amazing but it's definitely not the best
I bought a PS3 for this game when it first came out. Playing it again on PS5 and loving every minute. One of the best in the series that started the genre.
Demon's Souls has a very special place in my heart. The first Souls game, and the first I played back on the PS3. I played it so much, and when the remake came out I enjoyed the absolute hell out of it. It looks so fucking good, the sound design is immaculate and it's just so great.
As you said the boss fights may not be the hardest. But doing the run backs of 4-2 5-1 5-2 etc especially when it’s one of your first soul games hit different. Not to mention the atmosphere of every area is amazing
Was my first souls game absolutely loved it and the graphics are the chefs kiss
@@davraam7595 glad u enjoyed it
That's the beauty of a souls game being a dungeon crawler and not a boss fight simulator "soulslikes" turned into, which completely miss the point.
@@quanwashington Seeing as the company that invented the genre shifted towards a more boss-focused design and found massive success in doing so, I think you're the one missing the point. lol
@@gianni.sacciloto Here's something to give you more perspective on the DNA of actual souls games.
Souls are a third person, real-time evolution of King's Field.
King's Field is a first person, real-time evolution of Wizardry.
Wizardry is a first person, turn based adaptation of tabletop RPGs.
Tabletop RPGs at this time period were focused on adventure and looting, exploring massive sprawling dungeons with many traps and dangerous foes.
Tabletop RPGs during this time period were infamous for these dungeons. Tomb of Annihilation is the most infamous example.
Read up on what Tomb of Annihilation is. Does it not sound like a Souls dungeon? If Fromsoft were to straight up port this dungeon to Dark Souls I, it would feel just at home.
To give even more credence to the true soul of Souls games, watch the video that explains how Miyazaki directs his Souls games. Spoiler: there's a massive focus on the level's design. Not the looks, even though that's stellar anyway. It's focused on the gameplay, AKA the dungeon crawling.
People are sheep. They just repeat what they hear. This game is great. Love the level design, I played it before DS1 and apart from shortcuts I found the demon souls levels cooler.
Demon's Souls is great, especially the ps5 version. You don't know shit if you weren't there for the ps3 torture...respect thy elders!!!
I was there for the og 💀
Its actually my favorite. The most special of them all. The reason why some people hate it, is because they missed it when it first came out.
Literally went very unnoticed.

exactly what i said lmao
I think the order that you play the games in will have a huge impact on your impression of them. If you got into the series post-Dark Souls 3 for example you have the luxury of playing the games in whatever order you want or skipping out on games entirely. For me Demon's Souls is my favorite of all of them. I also bought the game vert close to launch on a recommendation. It was absolutely my favorite game on the PS3 without question. The remake for PS5 is fantastic too.
Personally I like a lot of the sort of antiquated designs of the first game. I kind of like the inventory management and all that. Obviously it's not to the modern gamer's tastes. I like the tons of different crafting materials, the quirks with the world tendency, etc.
In my opinion the series will be most enjoyed if you play them in order. Starting with Demon's Souls, then Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2, etc. You really get a sense of how the games have changed and depending on your perspective improved over time. If you start with the latest and greatest that has all of the refinements that came off the back of the previous entries in the series you can definitely find things to criticize with the older titles depending on what you're looking for. One thing that I find these days is that the game is way too easy but I've also been playing the series for closing in on 15 years at this point. When it was new it was something different and challenging.
I had never played demons souls simply because it was an exclusive (which honestly is really stupid of sony to do)
I figured theyd release the remake on PC, but they did it AGAIN. So i used RSPC3 for the OG, and i wasnt at all dissapointed. The rest i played in order, this was the only one it took so long for me to play lol
I genuinely like Demon's Souls more than Dark Souls. I love how you can do the areas in whatever order and, if you know where to go, be able to get some really useful stuff early on that make the other worlds easier. Some boss runbacks can suck (looking at you, Adjudicator/Old Hero), but despite essentially being a prototype for what was to come, they got so much more right than they got wrong.
I feel like Demon's Souls bosses being easy was a design decision as it's generally the levels that are the hard part, and having bosses be too hard with no bonfire system would just make the experience too frustrating. The struck a good balance IMO.
Interestingly, Demon's Souls is the second highest rated Soulsborne game (behind Elden Ring and tied with Bloodborne).
It's harder to appreciate when you play it last in the series, but it also set the standard for every other game that came after.
Honestly I think I appreciated demon souls more after playing elden ring. Just returning from a bunch of crazy ass bosses and enemies to more normal ones was refreshing.
The Valley of Defilement is one of my favorite levels in the series.
I like it but I wish the swamp area had some more shortcuts
I love Demon's Souls, it was the first souls game I've ever played. I don't think it's perfect or the best game, but it has a special place in my heart.
BRO!!!! Its been way too long! hope you been well. Demon souls is a huge W!
For weapon upgrades, I think Fromsoft made it easier for Ds3 and Elden Ring to appeal to wider audience. DeS and DS1 have that kind of complexity because that was what other RPGs did back then.
DS2 has very simple upgrading aswell
Well done. I guess it's time for Lies of P. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
For a dev team with no experience developing Souls, they rectify some of the issues that have existed in FromSoft games for more than a decade.
This game is legit on ps5. One of my favs on ps5
I didn’t play it until the remake either, but I loved Demons Souls. Though, I value the levels more than bosses in From games, which doesn’t seem normal given how much everyone loves DS3.

Demon's souls is great brother, I love this game and all of the souls games!
Agree with your ranking too and yea this game leaves a lot to be desired but I'm also glad the remake kept the quirkiness and roughness of the og while just making the graphics insane.
Which yea it truly is not only the best looking souls but I'd say probably top 5 best looking games of all time atm. I can't tell you how much I was at a loss of words playing it on my 4k oled... Stunned beyond belief. That's what I'd call a proper next gen game!
Demon souls PS5 was my first souls game. Literally two years ago Feb 21st 2022. And it's my favorite. Even while playing the dark souls trilogy I took time out just to play demon souls. It has a feel I can't describe. As far as the easiest souls game? I've seen elden ring players play this game and complain about it being difficult(levels and ng+ really).
It's really easy until ng+ tbh
demons souls can be the easiest souls game or the hardest souls game, thanks to world tendency
@@lloydirving6209The stages yes. But overall its the easiest soul game.
@@issi529 nah elden ring is the easiest
Same. I’ve enjoyed all the souls games especially DS3, but due to the level select design in DeS I love to pick this up and play it recurrently. The haptics are great too
The swamp in the Valley of Defilement is 10,000x easier if you get the ring from the Tower of Latria 3-2 first that lets you walk, run and roll through the swamp without being slowed by it. It still poisons you, but it makes your time with it so much easier.
where have you been Cappa? hope all is good, love the vids, wish you could post more often!
Let brother cook, quality > quantity.
just binged what i missed. nothing but heat bro, love your vids 😭🙏
My first play through took probably 80 hours. I had such a blast because it was my first souls game but I struggled with the mechanics and controls for a loooooong time. The Ps3 version ran at like 20 FPS also which was brutal.
I remember getting stuck because my world tendency shifted to full black for the level 4-1. It spawned a Black phantom Satsuki at the very begining. I had to fight him by the archstone because of the risk of alerting the skeleton. Satsuki one shots you every time. One hit KO guaranteed if you get hit. The thing had like 1000 HP and my sword dealt 10 damage. It took me so many hours and probably hundreds of deaths to kill him. In fact I had to cheese him a little by using a poison rapier and always having a shield up to block until the poison chips it health down.
Chieftain arch stone crawled so caelid could walk
Demon's Souls was my first souls game (as it should be) , therefore it will always be special
Only souls game I've played where I gave up and didn't even care. Having to farm grass because no Estus (unless your a faith build), lackluster bosses, borderline schizophrenic weapon upgrading, never was invaded despite being level 80, and essentially no explanation for literally anything I was doing (which isn't saying a lot for a souls game admittedly, and just sadistic level design made me shelf this game before 30 hours. And i don't feel bad one bit about it.
Valley of defilement is easily the best swamp area they ever did, and the only one that's actually any good, because it invokes honest despair in the player and truly makes you feel lost. Especially on Ps3 where the draw distance isn't as good and all you see beyond a couple of feet are the distant lights. Took me some years amd many playthroughs to appreciate it, but ones I saw the beauty underneath the ugly it arguably became my favourite area in the series ... no I take that back, it's the area I appreciate the most and it's just sad they never managed to get it right like that again.
Played the original with some buddies years back and it got everyone into Souls as a whole, loved it. I really like the remake as well, thy sound design is spectacular. Still looks extremely impressive to me also.
Can't wait for the Elden Ring DLC playthrough
Demon's Souls is excellent. Anyone that tells you differently is just plain wrong. It has its issues (mostly in terms of boss fights) but genuinely it has a much better story than Dark Souls does and aesthetics wise (even the original) surpasses Dark Souls as well imo (Dark Souls 1 everything just looked "wet")
Add to that the custom finisher animations for every single weapon, the interesting healing system (idk why people have such a problem with having consumable health options, I hate being limited so I constantly have to run back to a bonfire, let me enjoy the game at my own pace)
The remake for Demon's Souls is also excellent, a good way to experience the game. Personally I prefer the aesthetics of the original (mostly in terms of atmosphere) but I can't deny that this game is genuinely one of the few games that truly looks and feels "next gen" (still to this day for some reason).
Thank you I love this game the armor and weapons all look cool as hell. I thing elden ring was the weakest and the most boring out of the souls games. Demons souls is still my favorite.
Genuinely prefer 75% of the level design in this to Dark Souls. Love the lack of checkpoints. Honestly, for me personally I prefer hard levels and easier bosses too so this is one of my favourites in the series
Never knew what happiness felt after finding out a new Capatron upload 🎉
Doing my playthrough right now. Really great game, gives you like 6 souls for a kill while doing about 15 damage to stuff. No checkpoints and constant rooms full of mobs. Does a great job of making you feel super weak all the time. D+
I was told the demon's soul's remake was very different from the original but I never believed it, looking at someone play the remake now I see what they meant, this looks and feels like a completely different game.
You say “I had more people tell me to play lies of p” as if lies of p is a bad game. That’s one of my favorite souls-likes ever
It's funny when you said your build was horrendous because i saw the making of a battle mage easily, 16 faith for second chance 20 magic for Firestorm and you could use LW or CW with your intelligence buffed a bit
Demon's Souls is life
The reason you were able to beat Allant early was just bc u r so damn gud
Indeed. He was very tough imo.
It was a glitch....it happened my 2nd playthrough
Sekiro,bb,er,ds1,ds3=des,bs2
But I find ds2 to be really fun for killing enemies and leveling up. I actually really like ds2 for so many reason it has and only ds2
Demons souls is like a dark souls challenge run lite. Lmao. Its great.
Des is one of the best games ever made. The remake was awesome and ofc it’s not better than any other game in the series besides DS2 but it’s still great!
I fucking lost it at the ,”stop following me!” 😂😂😂😂😂
The real Demon's Souls starts at NG+.
NG+ is very difficult indeed 😅
demon souls is tied for my favorite with ds1. the lore especially and just the worlds. like the lore is built into the atmosphere. like when you walk around your getting a strory just from the location and surroundings. i look around for hours sometimes with a bow or binocs.
Demon's Souls was Blueprint made for the Souls games we liked today. It was their first project and especially with exclusive to PS3. I still respect it 💯
Demon Souls is like the original Wolfenstein: Revolutionary for the time, but doesn't hold up compared to what preceded it
It does, though.
Demon souls is severely slept on, doesn’t help that no one knew about it when it first released on PS3.
The reason no one talks about it is because no one knows about it, and it is HANDS DOWN the best looking PS5 exclusive.
Elden Ring brought in even the most casual of players to the genre, in my opinion Elden Ring is the easiest due to how easily you can access help.
Demon souls is a beautiful hidden treasure, so glad they remade it, wish they did the same for bloodborne.
King's Field. King's. Field.
I see he's getting the other side of the coin. Cause this game is the hardest Souls experience I've ever had.
Bro didn't event acknowledge the existence of flamelurker 🤣
What people don't understand is that Demon Souls is Dark Souls beta.
When they did the remake they choose to keep that kind of slow gameplay.
“no one told me to play demon souls, more people wanted me to play lies of p” *plays demon souls anyway*
This is the most fun vs frustration I had in a Souls like game (yes, finished 'em all).
I love to explore these worlds, and getting stuck on a boss for 4h is not fun for me, it gets boring and mechanical.
Yes, it's the easiest of em all, yes most bosses are gimmiky. And yes, that is alright.
That shadows of evil music threw me back in time wdf
I’m early as hell, also you should play lies of p it’s similar to ds3
Those half life sounds at the beginning of this video really tripped me out 😂
Ooh I’ve been thinking about getting this game. Time to see if it’s worth it or not😤
It's not replay one of the older ones lol
I'd say give it a shot. I enjoyed it. Definitely the weakest out of the souls, but its still worth playing. Also graphics are amazing.
@@jayden8027 yea I’ve played all the other souls except sekiro so I think it’s time
Beautiful bo3 music in the intro
You need the Sticky White Stuff for the armored spider. Does a lot more damage
Yeah bro to someone who never played a souls game this is the best place to start and I think that’s why they remade it
"fixed" in later games... just because you don't like things in this game doesn't mean they're 'wrong' or 'broken', they're just different and have their own intentions to create their own unique emotions. the various souls games are distinct from each other, there is no objective measure to say that one thing is worse than another, they're just different experiences. all of these so called "disappointing" or "frustrating" choices were in service of the tone, the experience, the emotion. that happens not to resonate with you, but what you think is "better" happens not to resonate with others. criticism is subjective.
We just gonna act like at 0:17 the eldenring wasn’t a reused texture in one of the larger rings on the floor 😮
You have to do a ng+ run in this game. The ng+ is the real difficulty 😭
The Demon's Souls remake was great. Period.
W day when cappatron uploads.
I wrote too many comments and threads on why peeps dunking on Demon‘s Souls are all summarized as the „Started with Dark Souls“ crowd that atteibute all the things that they love about the series to that game instead of the literal invention of Souls, which was Demon‘s Souls.
Just because you missed the cultural phenomenon that was the first game and only beat it after playing all the sequels you shit on it. Dark Souls is the Halo 2 of the series, and this video is like someone playing Halo Combat Evolved after playing through Halo 2 up until Halo Infinite and after years playing CE for the first time claiming it is too simple, easy and broken.
Worst take jeez louise.
Demon‘s Souls was so far ahead even the Dark Souls series course corrected to make your character less sluggish by Dark Souls 3 by making the character agile like Demon‘s again. The Nexus and Archstones are a brilliant way to integrate „respawning“ into the lore of a videogame, and it‘s such an amazing way to give the player all the content and let them choose from the first steps which worlds they want to tackle.
Also when the game came out it was regarded as „too difficult“ by many critics and you want to claim it‘s too easy because you grinded Souls games for a decade? lol. Also this game has the best atmosphere that is consistent and beautiful, even tho the remake didn‘t make the best choices with many redesigns.
And last but not least the bosses. These are the best bosses in the Souls series because they aren‘t a skill check and the solution is to „roll left“. Each boss is an event, and most bosses (besides the Dragon noss) has a creative differentiation so you can‘t just roll left to „solve“ the boss. One is blind but hears your footsteps, one is immortal if you don‘t break the spell outside the arena, one is just a helpless blob but the actual boss is the crowd with giant shields sitting on top of it, and one catches you completely off guard as it is literally another player. Brilliant!
The Souls game have evolved and brought us more jewels like Bloodbourne, but the most important and unique ideas present in Demon‘s Souls haven‘t been bested by the Dark Souls series, and Elden Ring also has many problems.
Thanks for reading
You are absolutely correct in everything you said.
I feel like an overwhelming majority of current Souls fans all started with Dark Souls, almost to the point where they don't even know Demons Souls exists. It goes beyond nostalgia for me, the whole atmosphere and vibe of the game still hasn't been beat.
@@jeremylamb12 Yeah I think they were on the right track with Bloodbourne, since it embraced that perfectionism of Demon‘s Souls „Aura“. Personally I wish the other titles didn‘t go so western on the design front, the main reason they did was because SONY didn‘t greenlight Demon‘s Souls sequel to be multiplatform, so they had to change the name to Dark Souls and change the designs and mechanics a bit.
@OtakuBenny2210 Hard agree 🔥
You played the old monk boss offline . Its fun when you are online as the boss is a random player who is summoned and can be really hard and unpredictable
Bonk will be missed
Just platinum this gem , a traditional souls game, the only downside is the bosses kinda not match the game. but overall a great one considering the history and beginning, and enemies and way to bosses are much harder than other games. you need to plan the way and each step, a traditional Souls game , no horse, no crazy levelling, and no escaping from the boss (these points are points for selling the product, + breaking the fear and inviting other fans who are not really hardcore souls gamers) and that is fine but something to mention.
Hey Mr.CappaTron I’ll be waiting for your return.
6:28 that’s my boy veltstad
I played this after playing all the dark souls games in order as well as bloodborne. And honestly it's better then all of them for me, even elden ring.

The remake DOES NOT do this amazing game justice. This was the game that made me excited to buy a ps5, but it wasn't the same game AT ALL!
Visually/artistically sure, but the game itself is the same game with a few quality of life changes
Going back and playing the original after playing the other Fromsoft games/remake isn't going to change anyones mind on it
“Hey, you like DS2 more than I do, that’s interesting! It’s nice to be in a supportive community that cherishes each game for different reasons!” This is what I want you to think when the umpteenth DS2 hater can’t help but dunk on other people for having a different opinion than them.
I love the remake considering Demon's Souls on the PS3 was my first ever Soulsborne
