Penetrator bouncing Biorr like that at 1:55 is probably the funniest damn thing in the entire game and I love blue point for that addition. 10/10 remake.
UPDATE: The secret at 15:00 has a weird glitch associated with it? Apparently you can only receive the Providencial Ring by trading with Sparkly if the Sword of Searching you trade was created with a Scimitar as the base weapon. Pretty crazy oversight by Bluepoint - and kind of a miracle this was discovered at all.
More specifically the Large Sword of Searching *MUST* be crafted using the base weapon scimitar+8. If you make it from any of the other curved weapon choices, Sparkly will not accept it in trade for some reason.
I can probably answer why this happens, based on my knowledge of how FROM games work internally. I can't guarantee that Bluepoint kept this data intact when remaking the game, but I would be surprised if they did not. When you create a boss weapon, the game needs to store what weapon it came from so that you could un-upgrade it if you felt so inclined. This is stored in a field called 'originEquipWeapon', but any given weapon can only have one entry in this field. To get around this, there's actually 9 weapons, all called "Large Sword of Searching" with identical data except for this one field. For example, the first one has ID 40900 and references weapon 40008, a Scimitar +8, while the second one has ID 40901 and references weapon 40108, a Kilij +8. Because Sparkly trades are looking for a specific item ID, Bluepoint probably found the very first Large Sword of Searching and used its ID for the trade script, which corresponds to the Scimitar +8, and neglected to add trades for the other versions of the weapon. Dark Souls works the same way. The reason I'm familiar with this is because when I made the item randomizer mod for that game, it includes an option to randomly replace boss souls with an item that's created from them instead, and I needed to remember to also randomize which originWeapon version of the boss weapon you get, so that you can possibly downgrade the boss weapon into an interesting weapon each time rather than always getting the first one on the list.
@@VaatiVidya I used to cry a lot, but then I saw this woman named Maria sitting at the upper part of a clock tower and I stopped crying, good thing there's nothing that would make me cry whenever I remember her, nothing at all...

Wait so, if Bluepoint seemingly knew Oolan wasn't male, then why did they keep the translation error? Were they really THAT dedicated to keep EVERYTHING the same that they'd keep an error??
It is possible that it wasn’t a translation error, and in lore there are reasons a female character is referred to with male pronouns. Perhaps, over the ages, Oolan’s true gender was lost to time. In some countries, knights are referred to as ‘sir’ regardless of gender, but it is commonly associated with men. It’s possible that Oolan was rediscovered but believed to be a man because of how she was referred to. Or, Oolan is just the first transgender Soulsborne character. I don’t know if the female invader version of Oolan was in the original, but if they were, it’s possible Oolan was always a female character with intentionally male pronouns. OR, yes, they coukd just be that dedicated to keep everything the same. They did intentionally leave some glitches.

Oh wow I played OG demon souls and I never realised the three black phantoms after the Penetrator boss were the heroes behind Phalanx, Tower Knight and Penetrator. The thing with the boss souls showing the outline of them too is really amazing!! 10 years later and I'm still learning more about this game. Also with Oolan you mention she has connection to the Shrine of Storms with her White Bow and Kilij sword. If people are wondering you can find the Kilij near the well in 4-1 next to the vanguard demon and you can also find another white bow in 4-2 after going through the secret door. Its on the ledge just up the red eye skeleton and the Primeval demon which appears in pure black world tendency.
Not sure how you thought the song in the prison was comforting... I immediately thought the theme was haunting and melancholy. Weird how differently people can interpret things
don't feel pressued to choose that ring as starting gift he says. Needing to give the crow a boss weapon is almost as much pressure as it not being otherwise obtainable
On the commercial part: I gotta say that Song of the Sea is a really beautiful and sweet animated movie that made me cry, can def suggest if you haven't watched it. There's a lot going on too if you can recognize all the Irish cultural bits hidden within it.
Random, but in Dark Souls II the woman vocalizing at the Shrine of Amana is singing something that sounds pretty similar to Return to Slumber in the first few notes. Maybe that's what Bluepoint was going for in 3-1.
If the human form of the king appears after the True king boss fight and not the false king fight (the reflection), doesn't that lend credence to the idea that the other bosses are the true forms of those knights. The red phantom forms could be the reflections, or similar to Ostrava's red phantom form at the end. Arguably Biorr could just be calling the penetrator a sham of a knight because he became a demon.
So, nobody is going to mention that the start of Return to Slumber sounds strangely similar to the Milfanito's Song from DS2? "When we sing, the little ones dance. The little ones grant comfort to those who bear death and Dark. This is what we were taught." "The little ones were born from the Great Dead One. And the Great Dead One taught us song. We have sung ever since. To comfort those bound by death and Dark. This is what we were taught." Of course, the Great Dead One in DS2 is obviously Nito, but... Simply a coincidence, or was it an intentional reference for the Milfanito to sing a similar song?
You probably dont need a VPN to do so, but anyone with a Netflix sub should definitely watch The Queens Gambit. It is amazing and the best show of the year.
I never played the original Demon Souls, but when I played the remake one of the first thing that I noticed is the weapon glitch, thats how I farm the red-eyed knight for souls in the Gates of Bolateria. With the thief ring on I let him chase me and when he turn back I run back to him and Back stab him.
Just wanted to add that the Two-handed sneaking was found way before the remake.

You just HAD to remind me of the Once Nobel Woman's old singing from the Original Demon's Souls! That shit scared the crap out of me when I first heard it. I thought it was a very powerful and deadly foe, but when I found out it was just her singing, I was so pissed...
Bluepoint: go ahead put all those secrets, deatils and easter egg how ever tiny it is, Vaati and the others will find it and share it anyway
Bruh! The boss's soul showing their human form is something I would've never noticed. So amazing.
Hey VaatiVidya, I don't have a ps5 to play Demon Souls, but at least I was able to play Dark souls series 1 to 3 and even bloodborn, and it's just as satisfaying to watch about how you talk about this games in a wholesome way, thanks for putting those out man ! Fan from brazil.
I really shouldnt watch vat videos since i want to play demon souls blind... but i gota support vaty lol
Maybe for the one year Demon's Souls Remake anniversary you could hold another photo mode? Or even in a few months when more people have a PS5 and the game. That would be cool
Vote for Elden Ring! After you get taken to DMs, look for the options at the bottom of your screen to vote. They're easy to miss! twitter.com/thegameawards/status/1329218619784380416?s=20
OooooOoooOoOooooOoooooh
ELDEN RING
You have to click the thing at the bottom of the messages. Confused me for awhile. Remember you can vote every day!
You can hit "home, vote for Most Anticipated Game, Elden Ring, yes" at the bottom of the messages
Oh thats not what you meant
Glad to have you back Vaati
OHHHHH ELDEN RING.
Ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh
i bet you couldnt even imagine it
Oh wow I played OG demon souls and I never realised the three black phantoms after the Penetrator boss were the heroes behind Phalanx, Tower Knight and Penetrator.
I'm just so giddy over the Phalanx soul remain thing.
Not sure how you thought the song in the prison was comforting... I immediately thought the theme was haunting and melancholy. Weird how differently people can interpret things
The only secret that matters is why I, Senator Cockstrong, did not win the presidential election. 😔
don't feel pressued to choose that ring as starting gift he says.
Hahaha, ohhh that Biorr ragdoll at 1:56
A tip of the hat to the poor bastards who searched for the coins in the sorrows
Remember, there is a release date for Elden Ring. It's June 30, 2021 (from rumors). Hope is still alive.
12:32 And by attention to detail you must mean the jiggle?
YO VAATI that ad transition was smooth as hell
Wonderful video Vaati. I have learned a great deal and look forward to using that knowledge when I get a PS5 and demon’s souls.
I did not expect another freddyfilms video before bed
Random, but in Dark Souls II the woman vocalizing at the Shrine of Amana is singing something that sounds pretty similar to Return to Slumber in the first few notes. Maybe that's what Bluepoint was going for in 3-1.
With the thief ring glitch it's actually due to the mathematics used in the code, the lighter the weapon the less it can reduce the sound.
Thanks VaatiVidya. You made this genre more interesting
This is so rad. Love the attention to detail bluepoint put into this game
I love that if you equip the Ring of Sincere Prayer when you cast any miracle you do the praise the sun gesture instead of the normal ones.
So, nobody is going to mention that the start of Return to Slumber sounds strangely similar to the Milfanito's Song from DS2?
"When we sing, the little ones dance.
The little ones grant comfort to those who bear death and Dark.
This is what we were taught."
"The little ones were born from the Great Dead One.
And the Great Dead One taught us song.
We have sung ever since. To comfort those bound by death and Dark.
This is what we were taught."
Of course, the Great Dead One in DS2 is obviously Nito, but... Simply a coincidence, or was it an intentional reference for the Milfanito to sing a similar song?
You probably dont need a VPN to do so, but anyone with a Netflix sub should definitely watch The Queens Gambit. It is amazing and the best show of the year.
That add plug was fantastic
I never played the original Demon Souls, but when I played the remake one of the first thing that I noticed is the weapon glitch, thats how I farm the red-eyed knight for souls in the Gates of Bolateria. With the thief ring on I let him chase me and when he turn back I run back to him and Back stab him.
