Hetfield used to sing this Sabbra Cadabra pretty well, 30+ years of concerts, tours around the world, party's and all kinds of excesses obviously affected his voice, and the fact he is not young anymore
Think of all the great bands that wouldn't have made it without their bass players: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Pink Floyd, The Who, The Sex Pistols, and...most certainly Black Sabbath.

No I didn't mean to! My first band we covered Motorhead. There are so many instances in that bass players alone shaped their bands and got them signed are too numerous to mention here.
Definitely! Roger wrote most of the lyrics. He left and, to my mind, I don't think they had success with the other bassist. I mean he's good! Roger's bass playing is simple, but check out the way he keeps time. There are many bands that cover Pink Floyd, yet rarely do I hear a song rendered right.
He's possibly the greatest bass player in metal history and gets mentioned alongside other legends like John Paul Jones, Steve Harris, Roger Glover, Geddy Lee, Glenn Hughes, I could go on and on, so underrated is definitely *not* the right word.
James doesn’t know the lyrics. The songs are being played too fast and lose all sense of their doomy nature and you can’t hear Geezer’s bass which is just a shame.
Honestly, people saying "JAMES CAN'T SING IT" have probably never listened to Garage Inc.'s version of "Sabbra Cadabra", (or watched the 1998 live version) and don't understand that people's voices wear down :D
You're giving Ozzy too much credit. The truth is simply that he COULD sing in those days. I think they're playing it in the original key here which is not James' natural key. That will be why he's struggling. I don't even think the Garage inc recording was in the original key.

They nailed this on the album. Just about my favorite Met cover but obviously they should have rehearsed a bit more before they got on stage with the Man Geezer. Nerves? That would be my guess.
I am not a huge Metallica fan. But I love the fact they turn into little fanboys even after all these years and success and fame and money they have had when a member of Sabbath or Queen gets on stage. Gotta respect their attitude and appreciating their fans.
