METALLICA / ARMORED SAINT / SOUL REBELS BRASS BAND
John’s Anthrax days are so underrated. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves.
Yess! UnderAppreciated.
I was listening to the bush years earlier. Definitely underrated.
@@jamesboyd4863 The original Armored Saint lineup was really good! But the newer versions of Armored Saint are John with a different guitar player right?
Only... the perfect song
I grew up on Anthrax and yes John doesn't get the credit he deserves. I almost don't like the band now because of how they kicked him to the curb. He saved the band in the 90s when Grunge and pop punk were taking over. Scott and Charlie better realize this.
John Bush is a Pro. Sings great, his voice isn’t destroyed, knows the lyrics, doesn’t need a teleprompter, and not out of breath. Professional!!! .....and he’s a super nice guy.
It's true
Hell yes. I actually preferred the version of Anthrax that had him. His stuff with Armored Saint is great too. Just a great singer and front man.
Wish they always played the slow part of the song live. My favorite
His voice is GRAVITAS made flesh.
i remember him being so upset when around Worship Music Antrahx got rid of him to get Joe Belladonna back, he was treated like shit, and yet his behavior show so much respect, ultra good guy
John Bush, one of the few 80s metal singers whos voice isn't completely shot.
Probably because of how young he is.
@@the_furry_inside_your_walls639 he is the same age as hetfield
I think John always sings naturally, that's just his voice. He doesn't force it to be what it isn't.
Tom Araya also, he's 58 and his voice still sounds amazing maybe even better than his prime
@@rmp3648 But he is intent and focuses. True professional.
Such a distinctive and powerful voice. John seems like a cool dude and I hope he gets the credit he deserves for all he's done for metal.
DANG! Even the vocal harmonies between Hetfield & Jon sound great!
I couldn't agree with you more
Dope when they harmonize
And doesn't take away the heaviness of the song. In fact, it leads perfectly to the end of the chorus.
Totally agreed!
I agree completely. Perfect together.
I liked him a lot in Anthrax. Just my opinion.
Chris J Sound of White Noise is a killer album!!
+Chris J Yessss!
+Chris J I fucking love his rendition of old Belladonna songs. Honestly the best singer they've ever had but Belladonna had the best songs. Greater of two Evils is the best of both worlds :)
+Erich U That is the best album with Bush on vocals. I can play that Anthrax album over and over again. Matter of fact, I'm going to press play right now LOL
Chris J sound of the white noise masterpiece.
You can tell that Metallica enjoyed this just as much as JB did. This version of the song KILLS!! 🤘🤘🤘
Could you imagine if things went differently, Dave never got kicked out... Cliff never died... John agreed to be vocals.
Imagine that.
+Tiberius Wilson I just thought that then i read it! That would be INSANE!
No man, things been good at all. Dave had to be kicked for Megadeth, John was great at Athrax. And James was great enough at 1985-2000. Kirk had to join for this awesome middle solo. Can say nothing about Cliff Burton.
+Tiberius Wilson agree with Mustafa, world will be disaster if we dont have Megadeth and Anthrax
+gemsale beauty while I half agree. We needed megadeth for sure. Anthrax would of been around anyways.
It would cause worldwide spontaneus combustion from a too hot eargasm
Kirk smiling at 5:32 like "Yeah bitches we ARE playing this part" hahaha
This song makes so much sense with "Sweet home Alabama" in there!
Serious, it's the perfect way to introduce that marvelous guitar solo.
Why don’t they play the full song anymore?
Jayce Ledet makes sense
@@ryanwall6149 Because they don’t like that that middle section sounds like Sweet Home Alabama.
About fucking time!
John Bush is simply one of the top metal singers of all time. His voice is unique, raw and passionate. He never lost it after all these years. Long Live!
Totally disagree
@@jeffblydenburgh5938 I feel sorry for you then.
I must have missed something here. He is fine, nothing special, and Im not hating on him or something, but saying “one of the top metal singers of all time” is kinda funny xD
@@raphaelmacedo4467 Considering that according to your opinion/taste he is "nothing special", it's not strange that you find this statement funny. For me and many others he is as special as it gets, so it's not funny at all.
He definitely has an iconic voice in metal history!
I miss John Bush in Anthrax. He made Anthrax sound amazing. One of my fav Metal singers.
That was really nice of Professor Xavier to learn how to walk again and come sing with Metallica. I think we can all agree he's a very impressive guy.
oh my god hahahahaahaha!
Dude thats hilarious
And he's a good singer too
To think he sang for that band called Anthrax before this
it's funny as well cause this song was in X Men Apocalypse
Omg they actually played the WHOLE song! That was bad ass! He killed it on the vocals!
HOLY FUCK. John vocals + James vocals sounds amazing!
I didn't know Chris Daughtry was such a bad motherfucker on vocals.
+Christian D Uhm, but Bush in Anthrax sucks. In Armored Saint he is fucking Amazing! Their album March of the saint is masterpiece of Heavy
+Christian D Best Anthrax Album is Among The Living. Anthrax with Joey on Vocals kicks ass
+Christian D
Bush has my favorite "gnarly" voice out of everyone I've heard, while Joey has an equally good, but melodic rather than rough voice. They're both good for different songs in my opinion.
+Zealous Fervor imo True Anthrax is with Joey on vocals. Sad but fucking true
John has this unique voice that fits every single genre. When I was 13 or so listening to Armoured Saint's Delirious Nomad I thought he was going to be the next Freddie Mercury based of his amazing vocal skills.
I wouldn't go that far lol. His voice ain't all that. Just the avg metal voice. Many waaay better
It's unique. Nobody sounds like John Bush.
Man... His voice sounds perfect. Seems like it was recorded in a studio.
Bush can still wail. The guy hasn't lost a step.
I wish they'd hire John even now. Dude is still killing it after 30+ years.
7:11 hetfield almost forgot he was not lead singing this time! lol
+BurnBabyBurn! lol

Hahahahaha funny asf
Saw dat!! 😂😂
Saw The Saint in the early 80's. Saw them again in 2018. John still has that killer voice. One of the finest voices in all of Metal. Forgotten voices, John Bush, Glenn Hughes, Paul Rogers, Paul Shortino, Graham Bonnet, Jeff Scott Soto, Doogie White. The list goes on!
Bush is fucking awesome \m/
holy shit, that was gnarly. John Bush would have been great in the band with James and him switching lead vocals.
John Bush is a way underrated Singer, this dude's voice still kick's ass. His voice sounds as good as when armoured saint opened up for Metallica in 1983 amazing, not to mention when he joined anthrax those were some of their best albums IMHO...
Mike G. I absolutely love anthrax with John Bush. Vol 8 the Threat is real is an absolute killer album imo
He is not underrated to me...............Seen every vocalist live Anthrax had to offer..................John Bush kills them all
@@scotty193 Agreed!🤘
@@mikeg.9238 Joey has completely lost his voice, its the aging process cant be helped. My theory on why John Bush was not accepted well by plastic fans is because he doesnt have the Metal trademark long hair.......Thats my thoughts...Scott gets away with it because he has been there from the off and he is a Wizard anyway...............
@@scotty193 John had long hair when he was in Armored Saint. Honestly I never was a big fan of Anthrax anyway. I loved Metal thrashing mad , from Fistfull of metal. I don't remember the singer's name , but I think that was the only album with him. I've never been a fan of Joey's , my favorite album was and still is Sound of white noise with John , almost that whole album kicks ass IMO!!!
In the top 8 metal singers! 😄👍🤘🇦🇺
Every now and then I come here to watch this video and be amazed. Wow, John Bush is such a great singer.
The man just kicks ass, but, every time I hear him all I can think is "Armored Saint"
He sings with so much energy and force, it really gets you going.
James looks so happy 7:44 that dude is singing the hell out of this song.
My favorite part. He kills those notes. Pure joy from Hetfield.
Wow. Just Wow. John Bush makes any band better. He is one of the best singers in metal, hands down. Armored Saint is a great band. Bush took an already great Anthrax to a new level. And as much as I love Hetfield leading Metallica, John Bush again took it to a new level. Thanks for sharing this video!
THE BEST VERSION EVER TO COME ALIVE AND THE WAY IT SHOULD HAVE EVER BEEN !!
John Bush has always been an amazing vocalist. I liked Anthrax a lot more when he joined
I'm glad someone did. Judging by the record and concert ticket sales when he was in the band, not many other people did. He's a great hard rock singer but not the guy for a band like Anthrax.
the only anthrax music i listen to is with John, I much prefer it. but thats my personal opinion
Yeah me too. Totally agree with you guys
He still is an amazing vocalist.
@@Swampster70 its not that Bush was a bad fit; you gotta remember that times/musical tastes were changing with grunge/alt being so popular, Anthrax, along with a lot of other bands got lost in the shuffle, even though they still made good music (White Noise charted at number 7 and went Gold in its 1st week)that moved with the times(without selling out), but still remained true to their metal roots. IMO, Bush is one of the greatest metal vocalists ever,no matter what band he fronts.
Goddamn, that was awesome! John Bush killed it on the vocals and even the backing vocals were epic! If that somehow came out as an insult, none was intended.
What I like about this video is they look like they are having the time of their life. . Seriously enjoying the moment.
John has always been one of my favorite singers. He's just awesome.
Damn... now THAT's a voice...
Four Horsemen is a classic. I’d love to hear them play the entire song more, not necessarily every time but sometimes
John Bush is a great metal vocalist, one of the best. Metallica didn't deserve him.
John Bush featuring Metallica
Jonh is great
Damn it's amazing how much tighter they are when James is just playing guitar....John is a god in my world
OMG DID THEY JUST PLAY THE MIDDLE SOLO FINALLY FOUND THIS :))))
John sounds great! Wow the possibilities...
Bush is the man! Thrax albums rule with him!
What a great performance. Amazing John Bush.
I knew about these 30 year anniversary gigs but hadn't seen this video. It's fantastic! Sounds amazing.
John Bush's voice is metal!!!!
crazy to think how different metallica could have been: bush, mustaine, burton, newsted. so many great musicians who for different reasons are not up there with them today. still the greatest band ever imo
One of the greatest singers and front men of all time.
John Bush is right up there with Dio and Halford!!
I love that the first thing Metallica did with Trujillo was to make him a millionaire as the signing bonus. Awesome dudes imo
totally awesome, even played the full version, we love you Metallica and thank you John Bush for singing
This is only further evidence why John Bush is one of my favorite metal vocalists of all time. Hetfield gave him carte blanche, and John went out and OWNED IT. I am grateful to have heard this; I only wish I was there!!
You can tell Hetfield Loved it!
Sorry James, you're fired! hahaha John crushed this song!! \m/
Recorded horizontally:)
G Bless it. Sounds unreal. They should invite him on tour to do at least a few songs. maybe an encore or two. his voice is just unbelievable
Major goosebumps for this one.
John is front man, coolness personified
Fifty thumbs up from me. Have been a fan of John Bush since he fronted Anthrax. This was an awesome treat!
damn... I read the title too fast... Metallica with George Bush ...
:(
+Tamás Alföldi XD!!!
+Tamás Alföldi Suddenly two planes crash into the toms :D
W. ?junior or senior?
GFG Nickname_not_chosen lmao
They should make an album with him.
Bruce Willis: my all time favorite metal vocalist.
He's also the guitarist for accept
poop head that where I know him from 🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿
hes also Wolf Hoffmann and Scott Ian
John Bush is the man .
I can actually understand the lyrics...wow
What a retarded statement
@@OblivionZXZ Pardon me, Bush's enunciation is clean.
I agree with that statement cause I was thinking the same thing. Even tho we know the lyrics. They came out alot clearer with John Bush singing them
Inglés sin barreras men
Definitely just smiled all the way through this video. Was up front/center (me with the long hair) all week long there. Less than 1 hour until I sit down with Mr. John Bush on my video podcast and I am going to bring this performance up. MUYA!
This is why the best Anthrax album is "sound of White noice".
I would say spreading the disease it their best album, but they are all good
"We've come for you all" ist better than "Sound of white Noise" in my opinion
Yes. Seems anthrax has no identity,, they're all over the place with punk stuff, priest imitations, serious music, comedy music, idk what they are. That 90s soundgarden alice in chains vibe with Bush on vocals would have worked very well i think.
@@andyessex8488 really? I’ll check
@@laurentdupont-gagnon7889 yep
This was F'n awesome! I love john bush... so underrated!
Would have loved to have Mustaine for this along with John, playing at the original (faster) speed. That would have been too epic!
Mustaine came out to play a few songs w/ them at the last show though and Kirk even gave him the freedom of choosing which solo he could play on Phantom Lord (Mustaine played the original "demo version" solo that didn't make Kill 'Em All)
+Pierre G no, phantom lord
Hetfield's face at 7:50 when John Bush goes for a high note is amazing.
he has an amazing voice, very metal, raspy but melodic and he hits really high notes.
John’s moves are so right with the music. 🤘🏼👊🏼
OMG, John is just an amazing vocalist! But James will always be the man in Metallica. Even Bush said it himself..... They both sound awesome together BTW!
One of my favorite metal singers.
John Bush is awesome.
Imagine another dimension where JB lead vocals, James on Rhythm, Mustaine or Ian on lead guitar and Benante on drums. We ended up spoiled as hell w the Big 4. I'm glad we had em all!
Always respected john..great distinct vocals..sounds good with james...now picture if....
So glad I finally got to see that solo being played :) Don't know why they leave it out, it's fantastic
John and James actually have really good vocal harmony. I really wish Anthrax had never pulled their BS, and Bush had never left the band. We've Come For You All was SUCH a good album. Just to imagine where the band could have gone from there, if not for their sudden "we wanna make 80s money with Joey" tour they wanted to do. Don't blame John at all for not wanting to be part of that, moving back instead of forward.
I'm willing to bet the follow up to WCFYA would have been epic (if it had been developed naturally, with Bush's involvement), but we'll never know.
Yeah, sucked how they looked back instead of forwards. The Bush years with Anthrax were amazing. I saw them open for Pantera once and they destroyed and outjamed Pantera on the trendkill tour. I don't understand why Scott Ian pulled that shit. I guess alot of people like that old Joey stuff. I'm not one of them.
+dst in my opinoin sound of white noise was their best album. never really liked joey
+101acidrider I agree. The sound of White Noise was the high point of the band.
so george bush is in the band 0_0
well said. Anthrax FB page blocked me for constantly making comments about how they sold out to bring Joey back, and turned their backs on John.
He owned that song so much. What a great metal singer!
I love the look on James' face when Bush really takes it up an octave and holds it....so awesome. I wish they'd make Bush their vocalist....so amazing
John Bush fucking killed it, and I love that they did the slow middle section which they hadn't done live for decades - Kirk's solo on that section is so damn good.
It's a shame John Bush wasn't at the Big Four tours.
Yes, I bet they wanted him on Anthrax, but they signed Joey right before the tour.
Adam Carpenter Yeah Anthrax kicked him to the curb for $$$
slenderbc07 John didn’t want to commit to it so they called Joey
@@noahmartin9526 I've read somewhere that they called Joey before Bush leaving. So Idk if he really didnt wanted to go, or if they just called Belladona for reunite "the classic Anthrax".
There were several reunion tours and such popping up for different bands, and the bug reached Joey and Anthrax. They reunited with Joey and Dan, replacing John and Rob. Think this was when Frank left to be in Helmet too, and Joey Vera replaced him. Frank came back too, and they did Gigantour and I think another tour. At the end of the tour, Dan left, Rob came back, and it was up in the air about whether it would be Joey or John. They asked Joey first, and he had been talking with Dan about how much he should be paid. Dan told him the figures from the last album he had been in the band, which was Sound of White Noise. Record sales weren't that high anymore, and the money Joey wanted, based on that, was all of the money. Scott and Charlie tried to show him it wasn't that much anymore, but he believed Dan. They said no to his demands. They called John, he didn't want to commit to them because he felt was backup option, understandable. He also had a kid, was doing voice work for his wife (he was the Burger King voice over for a couple commercials for her), and didn't need to go on tour again. Rob finds Dan Nelson and brings him in. He works with them on an album, they commit to a tour in Europe. Before the album releases, and before the tour, something happens, and Dan Nelson is gone. A lot of speculation and rumors. They scrap the album release, call John about the tour, he agrees to help them out. At the end of it, they ask him to record the vocals for the album to replace Dan's vocals. He declined. Anthrax now has an album finished, featuring a singer not in the band. At one point, Corey Taylor offers to be the new singer. Anthrax is ecstatic, he is ecstatic. They schedule him to come out, and the day of his flight, Roadrunner calls and tells him he can't be in Stone Sour and Slipknot and Anthrax, he still has record commitments for Stone Sour and Slipknot. Anthrax again has no singer. While back in New York, Charlie is at a bar, and in walks Joey. They hash it out, and Joey comes back. And that's where we're at now.
John can sing a phonebook, and it will still be fantastic! Armored Saint and Mr Bush are so underrated, almost criminally so!
With his vocals everything turns into Armored Saint
We are soo lucky to have this ! thank you guys !!!
7:11 James forgot he's not singing XDD
I just noticed that now that you pointed that out! Hahahahahahaha
LMAO hahahha
Muscle memory.
nah.....he was doing the back up vocals. They do this a lot when playing live. The entire song is structured that way.
@@FreeMTrider not really, not since Jason left
Was at these shows, absolutely incredible!!!
John did an amazing job!
What a great singer!
John Bush rules!!!! Great idea by Metallica to give John a chance to perform with them!
He really is one of the quintessential front men, great vocals .
I love John but this song is James'
John on the other hand probably has the best and most long lasting voice of the 80's
It's never too late to hire him :)
Imagine if John Bush had joined as lead singer and Cliff Burton had taught John and James how to harmonize vocals, like a Metallica equivalent of Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell, with Cliff and Dave as backing vocals.
Imagine not having he feral cat vocal ferocity and riffs of Megadeth, the idiosyncratic lead guitar styles of Chris and Marty, the superior drumming of Gar and Nick (Compared to lazy Lars)...
@@notsure1135 they were gonna fire Lars around the master of puppets era before cliff died. Around that time Dave Lombardo left slayer for a few months. Lombardo could have joined metallica. So it would be John Bush, Dave Mustain, James Hetfield, Cliff Burton, and Dave Lombardo.
i can't stop watching this version... is simply awesome!!!
Metallica always wanted Bruce Willis to sing for them??
Bruce Willis is a god damn legendary singer
I thought Bruce Willis was Wolf Hoffman from Accept, he looks just like Willis too
Lol...good one :)
HAHAHAHA
return of bruno
those vocal harmonies are so good
Metallica treated him so well with respect...Anthrax treated him like shit! Always loved him in Armored Saint!
Metallica treated Jason Newsted like shit, Voivod treated him with respect. Metallica isn't a good example for comparisons like this.
Anthrax treated joey like shit too.. He's got kicked out for no reason and hired back..
@@damianb2374 Check Jason Newsted interviews and the Metallica documentaries, also Jason is not the only case, Hetfield and Ulrich mistreated Mustaine even worse than Jason.
@@NIB1306 Mustaine and the other band members got into fights with each other. Especially when they were drunk. So it's on both sides in this case.
@@NIB1306 Metallica has grown up in 30 years and Jason is a class act as well!
As an old 80's survivor at age 56, I fondly remember John's days in Armored Saint and knew back then that he was a cut above the rest. The years have not diminished his voice while others have fallen by the wayside. He's a true diamond in a sea of common stones.
I love John Bush but let's be real... To say that his voice hasn't diminished is stretching the truth a little bit. The best vocal performance that man ever did was on the Symbol of Salvation album. As much as I love the ensuing Anthrax records, they really took a toll on his voice.
I understand that people like this version but the only thing I can think of is what it would have sounded like with THAT John Bush.
you got to love bush
now I know what bruce willis does on his spare time
Well, don't get me wrong, i liked James voice a lot in the 80's, but this is definitly the best vocal performance ever from a Metallica song. John Bush is awesome! I can't imagine how great Metallica would habe been with him!
He's got a nice voice but dude would get KILLED by Justice tour Hetfield. Fact.
Metaphoria Go listen to some old armored saint or sound of white noise. Both of these singers are past their vocal prime but back in his day Bush wouldn't have taken the back seat to James.
Badass!🤘I love both Joey and John but I like John’s voice so much!!!! Still on my bucket list to see him!🙌❤️John is very underrated!!
