He also had a kid, was doing voice work for his wife (he was the Burger King voice over for a couple commercials for her), and didn't need to go on tour again. Rob finds Dan Nelson and brings him in. He works with them on an album, they commit to a tour in Europe. Before the album releases, and before the tour, something happens, and Dan Nelson is gone. A lot of speculation and rumors. John has a great vocal range and is a fantastic hard rock singer - there is no doubt about that. I just get the more polished vocals would have lead Metallica down the same path that Anthrax went - downhill and to obscurity. I mean I loved the first Anthrax LP that John was on until that part in the Sound of White Noise where he started singing and it went from angry and heavy to sounding like something off the Twin Peaks sound track or something you heard on every radio station in America.
Definitely just smiled all the way through this video. Was up front/center (me with the long hair) all week long there. Less than 1 hour until I sit down with Mr. John Bush on my video podcast and I am going to bring this performance up. MUYA!
I love Het acting like he isn't one of the most commanding frontmen of all time haha. This is a sweet version, but let's be honest; Hetfield IS METALLICA
Cliff Burton and Dave Mustaine is Metallica. Hetfield is quite good, but is a f*cking asshole how he treated Jason(which btw was f*cking good), and Ulrich is such a bad drummer considering how big Metallica is, I've heard 12 year olds play better than this guy.
Ya know the thing is nobody can top James voice/presence from Kill 'Em All - Black. He was an unstoppable force of nature that fit the band's persona perfectly. No one and I mean NO ONE can replicate or replace that. And thats a HUGE deal when you're talking about what makes Metallica METALLICA. John has a good voice but so do alot of people. How many sound like James Hetfield? I'll take his vocals on the Kill album 8 days a week. However I did like the chorus harmonies. John Bush rules!!!! Great idea by Metallica to give John a chance to perform with them!
In the top 8 metal singers! 😄👍🤘🇦🇺
Dang, John Bush should really join Metallica
It would take Tallicas music to a whole new (much better) level !
Asylum241195 fuck yes
Agree ! Damn .. he is amazing
Nope
John’s moves are so right with the music. 🤘🏼👊🏼
Imagine if John Bush had joined as lead singer and Cliff Burton had taught John and James how to harmonize vocals, like a Metallica equivalent of Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell, with Cliff and Dave as backing vocals.
Imagine not having he feral cat vocal ferocity and riffs of Megadeth, the idiosyncratic lead guitar styles of Chris and Marty, the superior drumming of Gar and Nick (Compared to lazy Lars)...
@@notsure1135 they were gonna fire Lars around the master of puppets era before cliff died. Around that time Dave Lombardo left slayer for a few months. Lombardo could have joined metallica. So it would be John Bush, Dave Mustain, James Hetfield, Cliff Burton, and Dave Lombardo.
Major goosebumps for this one.
I love John but this song is James'
John on the other hand probably has the best and most long lasting voice of the 80's
John can sing a phonebook, and it will still be fantastic! Armored Saint and Mr Bush are so underrated, almost criminally so!
Always respected john..great distinct vocals..sounds good with james...now picture if....
Jonh is great
Does anyone know why they never play the part at 5:29 in their other lives ?
kills the momentum of the show (according to them)
i heard Dave wrote this part... so maybe that's why
konrad3014 He wrote most of the song (originally the Mechanix, found in the first Megadeth album). The part you are referring to has actually been rewritten by Metallica after Mustaine's departure.
Khogn T Mechanix is so awesome
+Slickdown It's probably too difficult for them. None of them, except for Robert, is very good at their instrument.
He really is one of the quintessential front men, great vocals .
With his vocals everything turns into Armored Saint
Fifty thumbs up from me. Have been a fan of John Bush since he fronted Anthrax. This was an awesome treat!
Well, don't get me wrong, i liked James voice a lot in the 80's, but this is definitly the best vocal performance ever from a Metallica song. John Bush is awesome! I can't imagine how great Metallica would habe been with him!
He's got a nice voice but dude would get KILLED by Justice tour Hetfield. Fact.
Metaphoria Go listen to some old armored saint or sound of white noise. Both of these singers are past their vocal prime but back in his day Bush wouldn't have taken the back seat to James.
We are soo lucky to have this ! thank you guys !!!
John did an amazing job!
So glad I finally got to see that solo being played :) Don't know why they leave it out, it's fantastic
I love the look on James' face when Bush really takes it up an octave and holds it....so awesome. I wish they'd make Bush their vocalist....so amazing
Imagine another dimension where JB lead vocals, James on Rhythm, Mustaine or Ian on lead guitar and Benante on drums. We ended up spoiled as hell w the Big 4. I'm glad we had em all!
This is the only live version of this song I’ve come across we’re the first solo is included. Normally Metallica cuts it out
One of my favorite metal singers.
John Bush is awesome.
John Bush is right up there with Dio and Halford!!
John bush rules.....hetfield smiles at 7:44-7:55 appreciating that range..yes, bush would have been a keeper........no doubt....
This was F'n awesome! I love john bush... so underrated!
I can actually understand the lyrics when he sings.
Definitely just smiled all the way through this video. Was up front/center (me with the long hair) all week long there. Less than 1 hour until I sit down with Mr. John Bush on my video podcast and I am going to bring this performance up. MUYA!
John and James sound great together, maybe they should get John to be in the band and they could split the vocal duties
They should definitely write some songs together just for fun and perform them. Would be a benefit for both parties.
They should make an album with him.
I love Het acting like he isn't one of the most commanding frontmen of all time haha. This is a sweet version, but let's be honest; Hetfield IS METALLICA
Very true.
He owned that song so much. What a great metal singer!
Kirk plays both solos since 1983, and fucking plays 'em wrong, BOTH.
Huh?
It was the second time (without the recording) that they played the middle part. Chill.
Badass!🤘I love both Joey and John but I like John’s voice so much!!!! Still on my bucket list to see him!🙌❤️John is very underrated!!
They should do that more...If they can lol Not taking anything away from John Bush but I am SO GLAD they "settled" for James!
Metaphoria Lol someone hasn't listened to many metal bands... xD
+SirotaKurcina yeah...you! Fuckin idiot
jgvv much comment.
It was after KEA that they searched for a singer. But imo after 2000, Bush would be better.
Was at these shows, absolutely incredible!!!
