11 Ways to Make and Use Molds with Polymer Clay
    Click to enroll: learnpolymercl...
    Hello dear polymer clay enthusiast!
If you know me, I'm a big advocate of working with molds. I really consider molds as a great starting point for the creative process.
You might have mixed feeling about molds thinking that they might make you less creative or incite you to copy or anything. I want to assure you that molds are, as I said, a starting point. You can absolutely tweak the molded designs to make them look as you want them to look. So no copying there.
I personally love using molds with polymer clay and making molds for polymer clay because they allow you to make elaborate designs even if you don't have clay sculpting skills or you're in the process of improving them - consider using molds just as training wheels when you're learning to ride a bike.
This mini-course will focus mainly on how to make molds using polymer clay and on how to use silicone molds with polymer clay. It will be packed with actionable and easy to implement techniques that you can apply right away in your work. I think there's going to be some ideas that will totally surprise you:)
Enroll now while it's available and free!
Hope to see you in the class!
    Happy claying!
    Mihaela
P.S. Please let me know what ideas you particularly liked! I'm always happy to receive feedback.
    Back to the tutorial:)
    Hello dear polymer clay enthusiasts!
Someone asked me recently if it was possible to achieve a Faux Enamel effect using metallic acrylic paints and this got me thinking about how to do it. This tutorial is the result of my experimenting with Lumiere metallic acrylic paints. They are wonderful paints to work with and if you mix them with Triple Thick Glossy Glaze, you've got a wonderful mixture to color your beautiful polymer clay pieces with. I am working also with copper gilding foil and I think that this color of foil has great potential and you should give it a try to see for yourself how you like it. I totally love it!
I aimed for a primitive look on my finished pendant and I wanted to achieve this look with the irregular free-hand cut shape, with the central design and also with the roughly textured back.
I am working with scrap clay. Sooner or later you'll have to use your scrap clay. So this would be the perfect project to do so.
    Material List
    - Polymer clay ( I used scraps of CERNIT black polymer clay)
    - Copper gilding foil
    - Copper Fimo metallic powder
    - A flexible blade and a rigid blade
    - Sculpey Etch ‘N Pearl
    - A needle tool
    - A small round ball tool
    - A craft knife
    - A toothbrush
    - Americana Triple Thick Gloss Glaze
    - A palette or a plastic lid
    - Lumiere metallic acrylic paints (I used Metallic Gold; Metallic Olive Green; Metallic Copper; Metallic Bronze, Pearlescent Violet; Pearlescent Blue)
    - Brushes
    - Baby wipes
    - Transparent varnish
    - Round nose pliers
    - Cutting pliers
    - 24 gauge Copper wire
    - Copper chain
    - Coppers lobster clasp and jump rings
I hope you found this tutorial inspiring and I hope you'll use these ideas and techniques in your work with polymer clay.
Happy claying! My best to you!
    Mihaela

Thank you for doing a proper tutorial with a voiceover and not just doing the work with music over and text!! Nothing wrong with occasional creative timelapse but when it is in every video - it gets so impossible to watch... Your accent is lovely!! I personally appreciate the effort it takes to do a voiceover. It makes it easier to watch, hear and follow! And also to add - thank you for doing an English language voiceover :) - English is not a native language for many polymer artists I follow so I am thankful for English language tutorials or Russian - since those two are my spoken languages. And great work on this - I will try this with my lumiere paints tonight! :)

Thank you, Daliena! I'm doing my best to make my tutorials as clear as possible. Thank you so much for appreciating my tutorial as well as the way I talk (this is such a wonderful feedback for me because I am working a lot on my English speaking skills and I hope this will show in my work.) I hope you enjoyed your experimenting with the Lumiere paints! I personally love them! Have a wonderful and creative day!

Thank you very much for your wonderful comment! In time I tried different ways of filming myself during the tutorials and as you've seen, some were better and some or less good. I'm sorry for this inconvinient. I appreciate the fact that you took the time and wrote to me. Thank you! Have a wonderful day!

Very pretty! I realize that this video is at least a year old, and your videography skills are probably much better now, but I wanted to give you a little feedback on the video itself... In the beginning, it was hard to see how you were adding the colors, both because of the glare on the shiny wet paint, and because your work area needed brighter light. I think a bright lamp right behind your table, just opposite of your chair, would have made things more visible, and would not be situated where any shadows would occur... of course you have probably already corrected this. I love your creativity!

Thank you very much for your helpful comment. I do try to find the best angle to film my tutorials and I really hope that in time I managed to improve a little bit. I'm grateful for the fact that you took the time to write to me and feedback is always very useful when we want to improve. I'm also very happy that you like the ideas from the tutorial. Have an amazing and creative day!

Hello!!! I just have seen your video and I find it gorgeous!!! Thank you very much!
I have a question if possible: when did you bake your creation? After having applied the colours and before applying the final coat of triple thick? Thank you very much if you can answer me♥️

Thank you, Barbara, for your beautiful message! I'm really, really sorry for replying so late. I did not see the notification for this message. I baked the piece before applying the paints. And I baked it only once. After applying the paints, I just allowed the paint to dry. Thank you again for appreciating this idea. Have a beautiful and joy-filled day!
