So glad I found your videos. They really are well done. I bought a DB Selectamatic 880/A just bought last week in McCaysville, Ga, USA. It has a broken selector shaft also; the hydraulics don't work at all but the motor and PTO seem okay. Nothing on the dash works and the starter switch has been replaced with another but it does the job. I'm not a tractor mechanic but I can take things apart and reassemble them pretty good. I am going to try my best to repair or at least find a suitable work around to lift and lower implements. Your channel will be invaluable to my project. Much appreciated.
this sounds a little bit like mine, but I know you'll havea lot of fun and learn a lot about your tractor in the coming months, have fun please keep watching Barry
Hello Barry My liftarms wil going down. Anything looks good Spool valve is moving TCU valve is moving also I dont have reinstal the the spring and the cable on the backside and I dont reinstal the lever Where you normally operate the lift. I pull and push the rod.
The 996 I have must be a bit newer than yours. The selector fork is made from plastic and the shaft for the selector, has a double bend in it. Unlike the bit that has fallen of yours.Have been trying to remember where the broken plate I found sits. Watched you vids,Shanes vids and my own none the wiser. It came from down the right hand side where the sensing cable attaches.Have the reconditioned hydraulic pump working and giving 120 bar at a fast idol 😀M
Hi Marshall, don't you just love it when you open something up and it's a million bits, don't know about you but I find which ever book you look at they're all different diagrams. confusing Barry
Mate , I hadn,t seen this video , somebody has taken the back tin plate off the sensing block ( R.H. rockshaft end bracket ) , & had a very hard go with a tough prybar , snapped off the cam setscrews by shoving around on the sliding bars in there , then dug further in , found a grip on the bend shaft you have found , & given it death by wallop until sick of it , in short , butchery . The position ( height ) control camplate is now mis - shapen , it should only have a modest notch in it,s tip to provide a park position for the 3 pt linkage , the roller in the top of the sliding steel bars sits snugly in it , otherwise it should just have a smooth progressive profile . These were made like a swiss watch when right , no place for a prybar . Best Regs mate .
many thanks for that Phillip, I'm going to try welding up the cam and if that doesn't work I know a guy in Scotland who will have a replacement. thanks for watching and thanks for taking the time to comment Barry
Hi Barry. Regarding the cam plate, I would say it is worn. Mine has the notch near the pointy end but not the second depression. This would be a good question for the DBTC Forum. There is a post on there with a photo which might be useful - search for: dbtc dump valve ball missing
Hi David thaks for the info, I'll have alook tomorrow, I've tried to register on the DBTC foruma couple of time and my account doesn't get activated , I've even tried different email address and I had a comment a couple of video's ago and the viewer said he was having the same problem. but I will look it up many thanks Barry
@@manfromthemist1958 Strange - but keep trying. However, You don’t need to register to read the threads on there, only to post. The best way to search the forum is to use Google and search for DBTC forum and then the subject your’re interested in.
I had to replace the plastic fork in that, not something l enjoyed doing but was useless as it was, anyway the lift arms worked as they should at the end of the day.
Do you have the dimensions of the two spacers or collars on the connecting rod that goes into the quadrant? They are missing in the 990 that I have got. I can't purchase any that I know of, so I guess I will have to make them. Hope someone can help. Thanks
Hi Mr Traider sorry I don't at the minute but I'll contact Marshall Smart i'm sure he had to make a couple of them, please give me a couple of days and I'll get back. many thanks Barry
@MarshallSmart @MarshallSmart 2 hours ago 10.2 mm each side but it’s ones I made. Should be ok with that as when you adjust the rod as the way Steve did it will set the valve chest then. Vid coming up in a few weeks no valve chest and working hydraulics up and down 😀M hope this helps many thankls Barry
A couple of comments I made aren't showing up either. Maybe youtube blocked as spam? The 2 that aren't showing for me are ones where I'd put links to dbtc forum threads or Barkley Williams site.
Hi guy's the homepage doe's say there are 10 comments and the only one's I can find are your's and Kent J as you say Shane possibly it's the links that causing the probs. I think we've had this in the past. anyway gents thanks for watching and the info see you next time Barry
