Hi Shane, another great video, nice to see you had help with this one, I think I'm going to have to get my son over when it's time to re-install my rock shaft, the selector bracket's coming off again to aid instalation. keep up the good work Barry
Thanks a bunch! I’ve also got videos of going through the valve chest and also reinstalling everything with adjustments. Thanks for watching, and good luck with yours!
Glad it will help! If you ever need assistance with anything, the folks over on the David Brown Tractor Forum are very, very knowledgeable about these tractors. dbtc.co.uk/phpBB3/ I've learned tons about working on my 990 from there.
Hi Tom! Thanks a bunch! It's a lot, but manageable with an engine hoist. I did took it all off once before by hand and I DON'T recommend that! Sorry for the delay, been out of town a bunch lately.
Good video, having problems with the valve chest on my 996 . So may have to do what you did. Got a lot of bits freed off now. Some missing parts I made on my lathe. Bit in the right hand ram shaft box has been welled up before I got the tractor. Funnily enough I have been chatting with Barry The man from the mist about the hydraulics on the DB. Have a new video on what I am doing every Saturday on my UA-cam. My older tractor is a Fordson Major which I rebuilt the engine from the block up. The hydraulics on it are so much simpler that the DB. The DB tractor sat by the sea unused for 2 years. I reckon it could be up to a year to fix everything on it. M 😀
Thanks for watching! I really need to get a mill and lathe at some point. Be sure to ask questions on the David Brown Tractor forums too. Great advice from the folks on there. I took a look at your channel and you've got a new subscriber 😀
Grand video, this job is the stuff of nightmares to say the least and definitely not for the faint hearted, l had to do this myself as the previous owner had broken the plastic selector, wouldn’t want to do this for a living 😬
Hi there! My google drive has an orings spreadsheet that has all the sizings for the valve chest and hydraulics that I used. drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1NLManoOJ6WzuS3RWVQsnXfosWUDUncuP I got the Orings mainly from "The Oring Store" online. www.theoringstore.com Thanks for watching!
By creep up, you mean they go up by themselves? Maybe the spool valve is sticking? Or perhaps the quadrant is out of adjustment. Take a look at the group 3 adjustments video I've got. The other DB990 we have has that problem. It's different from the problem you describe though. When starting that one, the arms shoot to the top immediately. The spool valve is stuck in the raise position on that one.
@@path.of.discovery That's correct. You can have the arms all the way down and it'll just sit there and just go up an inch at a time as the tractors running
This translates as: "Bad and complicated hydraulic system". I have to agree! By modern standards it's bad. However for the time, it was revolutionary from what I understand.

I throughly enjoyed that video you remind me of myself lol I take it your good at jigsaws
😁Thanks Jon!
Shane,
I am having trouble with the hour meter drive assembly on my 990 (later model orange and white ) have you ever worked on this?
Thanks,
Al
Thanks for the video.
The lub pipe cames in origin or is a adaptation?
The lube pipe is original to the tractor. See this video for more on the lube pipe and reinstallation: ua-cam.com/video/ARn7kns1E-w/v-deo.html
What do you think would cause the hydraulics to gradually creep up? I can hold it in place with the height control lever.

@@path.of.discoveryI tightened up the friction discs and that's actually keeping it in place now.
This video is so great but is there I can get you on the phone for a quick call? I’m trying to get my hydrolocks working.
That's an early selectamatic
Sistema hidráulico malo y complicado .
