    Thank you brother for sharing your knowledge. I've changed my questions to sellers accordingly. I will now ask: (1) Do you have possession of the title? (2) Is your name on the title? and (3) is the word "REBUILT" found anywhere on the title under "REMARKS". Thanks again.

    I have a very low mileage car and had a small wreck in a fast food parking lot. The Ford stealership said it was totaled but literally the only thing it needed it needed was a rear door. So the insurance totaled the car and I bought it back and just had the door replaced. I then lost the original title so 2 years later I now want to sell it so I got a Texas certified copy. It says nothing on it about being totaled (brown title). I then did a Carfax and that report does say that it was a total loss. I just want to make sure that whoever buys it knows the history.

    I need help right now. I've kept full coverage on my 2005 vehicle which was still going strong until my wife hit a curb and took out the oil pan and rack and pinion. The insurance company totaled the vehicle. I want to keep the vehicle and repair it, but am being told I have to get a rebuilt title if I do. This is crazy. Had I not bothered with the insurance claim, i could have simply repaired it and been good to go, but now it has become "unroadworthy" until proven otherwise. This is insane. I'm getting conflicting information from the Texas DMV website and local authorities, and need to make a decision quickly about whether or not to keep the vehicle. I need to know the exact steps that are required to get the vehicle back on the road. Thanks for the video, but it doesn't answer all my questions.

    • @buxtonautosales
      @buxtonautosales  2 роки тому +2

      You can always get liability on a rebuilt title car. If you’re wanting full coverage different insurance companies have different policies on how they treat them so it’s best to check with your insurance company.

    • @buxtonautosales
      @buxtonautosales  2 роки тому +1

      Som insurance companies will insure them. Others will but full coverage is at a lessor value and others won’t. Just check with your carrier to be sure.

    Here is something that puzzles me. I recently wrecked my car that I had been paying on. The car was "totaled" but I decided to keep it, I have full coverage my car so my insurance company paid off my car note to the lien holder while I paid the fee to keep it. I just received my car's title in the mail, it is in my name and is not listed as a salvage title. The odometer reads exempt. I want to fix up my car and get it back on the road again, I'm just worried that I have to jump thru more hoops now.

    • @buxtonautosales
      @buxtonautosales  4 місяці тому +1

      I "think" it will be noted in the State's records as "owner retained salvage" but I don't believe you need to do the rebuilt title process. It would be best to call one of the DMV Regional Offices and ask them. I'm not 100% positive. Thanks for watching and please SUBSCRIBE if you haven't!

    Not 100% true. If I only have liability insurance but the other party was deemed responsible and accepted liability then the other carrier could have deemed it a total and I could have retained the car and just taken the ACV of the car and repaired it.

    What about if it says rebuilt, salvage, damaged, bonded under the remarks it is a blue title.

    • @buxtonautosales
      @buxtonautosales  2 роки тому +1

      In Texas original titles are blue and certified copies are brown. Either is acceptable. If it has something under remarks it just depends on what it is - bonded means someone literally paid a bond to get a title. Rebuilt of course means it was an insurance loss that was repaired.

  • @chadmccoskey7375
    @chadmccoskey7375 Рік тому

    Can you explain texas rebuilt title vin cert waived?

    • @buxtonautosales
      @buxtonautosales  Рік тому

      There's two things going on there. REBUILT means that the car was previously an insurance total, someone repaired it and then got it inspected and put back on the road. That's completely legal. The car is generally worth less money and some insurance companies will not give you full coverage or will value the vehicle less because of the previous loss. VIN CERT WAIVED means that the vehicle previously had an out of state title and they did not get a safety inspection and provide the original form to the tax office when they did the title transfer. You can get that removed by taking your original title and an original (not a copy) inspection to your county tax office and paying $33. You can NOT get the rebuilt removed.

    • @buxtonautosales
      @buxtonautosales  3 роки тому +2

      Not necessarily. If the repair cost is 60% of the value they will total it. So if it's a 10 year old car and gets hit in the right spot it's possible. You just have to look at it case by case. More important than it having a rebuilt title is "how's that going to effect resale and will my insurance company insure the vehicle"

    My car says only “Actual Mileage” in the remarks section of our Texas title, but when I look up the VIN on nicb.org/vincheck, it shows “identified as a vehicle listed in the VINCheck® Salvage Records”. • @buxtonautosales
      @buxtonautosales  3 роки тому

      Well the system isn't perfect for sure. If under your remarks section it doesn't say REBUILT then it's technically a clean title. It may have been wrecked in another state and do to an error that remark not been input when they processed a Texas title. I'd give your local County Tax Assessor a call and see if they show any remarks for REBUILT. Your title is clean, I'd sell it. If someone wants the VIN to do some research let them.
