I’ve had Gieco, State Farm and progressive insure rebuilt title with collision, comprehensive and liability without any issues. Gieco just wanted some photos. Not sure why people freak out.

We bought a car that we didn’t know had a rebuilt title. We were surprised after we got in a wreck and seen the payout from the insurance company for the total loss. Be careful who you buy cars from.

I love how you explain things. One question. Let's say I'm a certified mechanic. I have a vehicle, that's insured, and maybe got into a minor accident. I carry it for repairs, and instead, I decide to change the body so that it looks like a totally different brand of car, by performing minor chassis mods, like from a 4 door to a 2 door. Can I still get the vehicle insured?
It’s normally ok but you might have to have a company that allows custom vehicles. You’ll do something like an agreed value. Haggerty is one option.

Do you recommend buying restore or rebuild?
Both are finished products. Restored is less likely there was a major accident. The biggest thing to check is the shop that rebuilt it. I've been in a few presentations where they show how shops save money on a rebuild which can't be seen but insurance paid for it.

No but the value of the car is less so if you are allowed to carry full coverage it wouldn't pay out as much as if the car wasn't rebuilt.

So I don't understand NYS DMV's website it says you can drive a salvage car to the inspection station to get a rebuilt title so long as you have a valid registration, NYS Liability Insurance and temporary transport permit. But it says ALL OVER online that you cannot insure a salvage titled car....can you please help me understand this?
You should check with the dmv but I would guess they mean until it’s been inspected. If it’s repairs and you need to get it to them to inspect to make it a rebuilt title

Do not go with progressive worst insurance for totaled car payout lowballed by 1/3 of actual car worth had to apply appraisal clause nearly tripled to what they offered
I've seen them pay out more than they should. It has a little to do with can the owner talk.
How do you get it listed as a rebuilt title?
You go to the DMV or SOS depending on your state and fill out the paperwork. You might be able to do it online nowadays.

@@ThinkInsurance turns out if I retained my vehicle the insurance takes the salvage price off the settlement price and they was $9k off the $19 so only $10k would go to my Liam of $24k and I’d still have to fix my car out of pocket and owe $14k to pay off, not really worth it to have a salvage or rebuilt title so I let them just total it out and let my GAP cover the rest

What if I got a salvage title and just go with liability what does that cover for example someone rear ends me what will that liability cover ?
That is the way a lot of people do it since most companies are ok that route. The only difference is liability only won’t cover your car. There are limits and pieces you still pick but if you’re rear ended your insurance won’t help fix your car.
You’ll have to go after the at fault party on your own.

Yes, hit and run you’re out of Luck there. You need uninsured motorist property damage for that or collision depending on the state
What? Why would you said that Progressive is Top and Best Insurance? Progressive is the worse of the major insurance company out there. As an insurance with Progressive in the past, I have the worse experience with Progressive. They refused claims many times with me in the past and if the pay claims they will not pay the full claims. I have hail damaged to my car and they will not pay it, they only pay half of it because they stated that some of the damages are not cost by hail even though the repair shop told them that it's hail damage. They will not pay my personal injury claims because they said that the injury was not cost by the damage. Even though the car was totaled and I have to be taken to the emergency room. They also will not pay my Chiropractic treatment because they said that I didn't get treaded in a timely manor. Of course I sued them...as soon as they got the lawsuit filling from my Attorney, oh! They kept calling me to settle and even make all kinds of offers to get me to dismissed the lawsuit. I just told them to talk to my Attorney instead. We ended up winning the case and of course they have to pay up all the claims. So, PROGRESSIVE IS THE WORST INSURANCE COMPANY IN THE WORLD. I WOULD NOT EVEN BE THEIR CUSTOMER EVEN IF THEY WILL INSURE ME FOR FREE!!!!!!!!
Good for you. I am glad you sued them and held them accountable. It's not only progressive ins. most of them will use any excuse not to pay a claim.
Just going to say I hate insurance companies but I've had progressive for 4 years no claims and my work band was stolen in October and they paid me four grand over book. I got rental insurance that I didn't even know I had and they took care of everything in 3 weeks so I do have good credit I have been working on that maybe that has something to do with it I'm not sure but they were great with me I'm going to keep them
