Thank you for the information. Can I ask how do you dispose the bakewear safely? To dispose it in the bin would harm the environment to give them away wouldn't be an option as your causing harm to someone else's health? Curious to know your thoughts?
Hi, We started to detoxify our kitchen a few years ago. Now we getting into learning preserving food methods.... Do you know any option to plastic vacuum sealing (food saver) and other methods... It seems all of them have some sort of plastic ( like the vaccum sealing in the lid of the glass jars) somewhere. Thank you!
@@aranha9365 silicone bags work wonderfully for storing foods, although it's not an option for vacuum sealing. Pressure canning or water bath food preserving would be an excellent option. It's more time consuming but the food can last for years!
I wouldn't use "ceramic" non-stick either. It's not actually ceramic, and I don't believe they're not toxic. Just like Teflon was once believed to be safe... until it wasn't. I'm afraid "ceramic" non-stick will end up the same. Best to just stick with what our grandmothers used. Thanks for the rest, though! Love the ceramic muffin pan. So cute.
Yes!! I agree with you!! I had bought some GreenPan ceramic coated skillets and a wok. I always smelled a slight chemical odor whenever the pan heated up prior to cooking.
I honestly don’t remember what my grandmother cooked with. What all would you recommend? I know that stainless steel isn’t man made. And of course glass is natural as well.
I watched a number of your video presentations on the subject of toxic cookware and I find them to be very informative and thorough. They are possibly a life saver! Thank you Zenana for taking the time to make these videos. You are providing a wonderful service to all your viewers!
Thank you!! VERY informative!!! I'm shocked that there aren't thousands of likes!! I think that most people prefer to keep their heads in the sand because they feel that being healthy is inconvenient...thinking, "what you don't know won't hurt you," but we need to know! I'm already about 90% where you are, but I saw that there are more tweaks to make!! Keep up the great work!!
Really admire and like your channel and videos and the work that you have been doing to educate the people about the dangers of exposing ourselves to Toxic materials in the form of plastic, Teflon coatings and their alternatives
There's also carbon steel frying pans. Much lighter than cast iron, but you have to keep it seasoned. I recently got rid of all my non stick pans and utensils and have replaced with stainless steel. I'm replacing my cooking utensils with wood and teak. Stainless steel scratches my pans. I'm still not sure if the silicone is safe.
Your kitchen looks amazingly neat and tidy. Love the green casserole but it looks super heavy though. I'm eyeing your glass and cast iron cookware, haha! Looking forward to the other videos in your series. Subscribed! ❤ Lynette
Thank you Lynette! I love my kitchen too. I call it my "office" because I spend so much time there doing what I love - cooking healthy meals for myself and my family! 😘😋 The Le Creuset is quite heavy indeed. Glass is much lighter for sure. See you in the next video!
Stainless steel cookie sheets do not conduct heat very well. So I ask, would aluminum cookie sheets are safe with unbleached parchment paper be ok. Ceramic needs to be ead, cadmium, and heavy metal free also. Stainless steel needs to be 18/10, 304 and or all clad. Are nylon utensils out also? Thank you
Thank you for doing this - ❤ Would you please recommend a microwavable food cover; the kind that keeps food from splattering the inside of the microwave?
I love Le Creuset enamel cast iron. But I heard so many controversial information on lead and cadmium in LC. Have you ever tested your enamel cast iron?
We need to be carefully with silicon. Silicon can start to Leche chemicals at high temps (i mean even touch a hot stove or oven). It is best to avoid using them in a hot setting. I mean dont use them on the stove or in bake wear. Cold or room temp is fine. I dont think the amount was a lot but it is best to be safe. Also do not put any alcohol on silicone. It also leches.
Very informative video 👍🏻 You said it was ok to use silicon spoons, so can we use silicon molds to bake? ( i hope u understand what im trying to say) Thank you
What size pan. Salted or unsalted butter? … we need all the details. I’m trying it in a 12”. I hope it doesn’t run over. And I’m using unsalted. Heck idk.
Not all stainless steel is created equal. 18/0 stainless steel contains no nickel, whereas 18/10 stainless steel contains 10 parts of nickel. When you cook acidic food like tomatoes or lemons in a stainless 18/10 pan this draws out the nickel in the food which is not good. Also you don't want to over use cast iron pans and copper as this will also add this metal to your food. We also need to be careful of ceramic coating as they may claim it's PFAS free but what chemical have they used to coat to stick the ceramic to the metal layer? They do not have to disclose this. So unfortunately we need to much more vigilant about our cookware and also our stainless steel flatware/cutlery. I'm starting to change all mine to stainless steel 18/0.
The change from glass to plastic happened leaving us with no choice. My family didnt take to change easily. We handed down Everything! I have my grandmother's enameled crock pie pan; my mother's cast iron pots and pans and glass cookware. I dare say this movement away from these (now we know!) toxic utensils will make a difference in the industry. Hopefully! What horrifies me is that now I've discovered that paper, tin foil, parchment paper and clear wrap products are also toxic! In 1955 my mom said "We're going to hell in a handbasket!" to which my grandmother said "Yes! And the baskets' got a hole in it!" I can only think that now 😢 we're being hauled in a plastic basket.
We threw out our pots a few days ago and our plastic utensils. Watched this looking for baking options. Now…. We just threw out everything else. Waffle makers, plastic bowls that we’ve had a long time. Everything we couldn’t verify or that looks sus.
Many bamboo utensils have varnishes on them, which are toxic. If you’re going to promote bamboo utensils, they need to be varnish-free and coating-free.
Well, actually, stainless steel isn't 100% nontoxic. It leeches cadmium and nickel into foods if scratched or cooking acidic foods. Carbon steel is a better alternative. I just ordered some skillets from Amazon.
And you cook on gas!!! Gas is banned in some cities in the US because of toxic flukes. Venting is necessary, and then you must make up air lost. Induction and electricity are great options. It's always interesting where you choose to film. It just shows it is hard to live in a home with all the modern technology
Good advice. I would caution you to consider looking into your gas stove though. I had gas for a while and I understand why people "love" it but I discovered for myself that it's toxic fumes do a lot of harm to us even with "proper ventilation. I recently made the switch to electric and it has made a noticeable difference in improving the head aches, tiredness, and lack of energy we had been having while using gas. Again I understand the benefits of gas but for us, gas (any gas) burning in our home was worth questioning. Look into it and decide for yourself as there are risks and rewards to everything and one way or another we can't live for forever anyway so do what works for you. =)
Wood ustensil can get molded. I see you have black stuff on your wood utensils. Bacteria and germs and mold can develop on wood utensils and wood cutting board. .

Is aluminum foil healthy to use for baking? I often line cookie sheets and metal pans with aluminum foil but not sure if I should be.😃

So glad I watched this before buying an entire cookware and bakeware set 😮 👍🏻👍🏻

Much appreciation for all you are sharing. We all need to be rethinking what we do daily and change what we know is damaging to health and well-being
No cooking of tomato products in an uncoated cast iron, use the enameled cast iron

Thank you! I appreciate that Mikkel. 😊
Are Wilton cake pans healthy? I'm sorry, I'm just confused. TIA@@NaturalLivingwithZenana

Do we use cast iron and glass, ceramic, non treated wooden utensils?

Microwaves are toxic so she probably doesn't recommend using it at all
I just ordered a stainless steel dinnerware set. Next will be silicone cooking utensils.
I'm 65 and don't trust myself around breakable stuff.
12:10 you could easily do this on cast iron .
Thanks you have a lot of knowledge for cookware, but how about aluminum cookware.
I love Le Creuset enamel cast iron. But I heard so many controversial information on lead and cadmium in LC. Have you ever tested your enamel cast iron?

How do you get rid of non-stick? Are they forever chemicals????????

How can I know if my Reynolds parchment paper and wax paper are safe?
They aren't safe. You should use the brands that she mentioned, like "If YOu Care."
You doing a great job by educating prople
Thank you so much Sindhu! It is truly my pleasure! 😊
Do you still recommend silicone? I am trying to decide if it is safe or not…
How about aluminum cookware. could you talk about aluminum cookware thanks so much
Le Creuset and Sweese, are they lead-free? Is your dinnerware lead-free?
You have to test. But I have heard le creuset had lead on the outside .
❤️❤️❤️🌱
For your very good health. Tell me how you depose of non stick products in a healthy environmentally friendly way
GUYS SILICONE IS NOT OKAY EITHER HEATED 200F IT'S TOXIC TOO

Thank you for this video. One more thing, replace gas range with electric. Gas burning pollutes in your house.
Are Wilton cake pans healthy? I'm sorry, I'm confused. TIA
Gas range is fine if you have a good range hood (i.e. one not built into a microwave)
I was thinking the same thing, lots of toxins from burning gas. An extraction fan helps, but doesn't solve the problem.
Non Toxic:
1) Glass
2) Pyrex
3) Ceramic
4) Stainless Steel
Well, actually, stainless steel isn't 100% nontoxic. It leeches cadmium and nickel into foods if scratched or cooking acidic foods. Carbon steel is a better alternative. I just ordered some skillets from Amazon.
Some fools are now saying cast iron is bad for you. I do not use teflon, but have a lot of cast iron.

Yes it’s ok if you vent.
Ceramic has be 100% if not it can be toxic
Can you share more about that Dina?
Nope silicone is bad too and really IF one uses it it s only up to 400 degrees!
Ceramic coatings are NOT guarenteed safe non-toxic-refer to toxicology reports.

Your passion is bit mesmerizing for to just watch episodes after episodes.
Well thank you! I appreciate that very much! 😘
No, you are wrong. There is a nonstick pan that uses titanium and is meant to last a lifetime called Titanium pan pro would imagine it is expensive
