Great review, not many out there on this tent yet. I appreciate that you don't just ramble off the specs that anyone can easily find on the website, your reviews add information you can't get without buying it.
Im a Little nervous of these types of tents. But love the lightness, with ability of the stove. I use an 8x8 , 7oz canvas tent, that weighs about 11 lbs. goes up with one center pole. That weight is only the tent. No pegs or pole included. Love it in the winter. No condensation in cotton. But for those fall months roaming the barrens, a lighter tent would allow weight in other areas. My concern of these tents would be the stove pipe touching the peak of the tent. It looks really close and those pipes get glowing red. What are your thoughts on this?
Hey there! Yeah, these are certainly a different beast all together vs a canvas tent ( I have and love those as well for base camp). If I can use a canvas tent with a stove, I'll certainly always do that as they hold heat better and are much more comfortable, however, if I am backpacking and want to have a hot tent, this one is my go to. We've used this with the stove in the single digits and not had any issues with the pipe touching the tent (the stove jack is designed so the pipe can touch it). It's always possible for embers to fall down on the tent and cause a pin hole but those can be repaired if that happens (hasn't happened yet though). Hope that helps!
Great review. I am currently looking for a tent for my son and I. Thanks for the great review. Very informative and in depth. I subscribed to your channel. Enjoying your content very much. I am leaning towards this tent. Seems like a lot of bang for the buck.
Great review! I’ve been comparing this tent with the cimarron 4p. I know the cimarron has a liner to keep you dry and I’m curious if you had any issues with managing condensation since there isn’t a liner? I know there is now a half insert available but don’t know how it would perform in keeping you dry?
@UKFAN4LIFE hey there! Thanks! I've not had any issues with condensation as of yet. The half insert does a great job and makes this a double wall shelter, which certainly helps with condensation. Thanks for watching!
@@BackwoodsPursuit Thanks for following up! My apologies as I didn’t see your previous reply to a similar question. Again, great review! Much appreciated.
Thanks for the thorough review. I have several shelters (including a Cimarron light and Argali Rincon). The silpoly’s ability to resist sagging when wet is appealing. I’ve been thinking about getting the Absaroka to replace of my Cimarron. Between the Cimarron and Absaroka, Is there one shelter you’d prefer over the other? Thanks for your time.
Thanks, Seth! Man, they are both great, but if I had to pick, I'd probably pick the Argali because of the SilPoly, along with the fact that a half insert is coming this summer, and that the Absaroka is larger but lighter than the Cimarron. It's awesome that the Cimarron is made in the USA though...love that! Can't go wrong with either! Thanks for watching!
Hey there, Trevor! This is an awesome tent for sure! Here is a link to the guy line/line loc kit that I picked up. It's nice to have around as it always seems like I'm adding some guys lines and line locs to tents I'm testing LOL! amzn.to/3MlwyTz. Thanks for watching!
Hey there! Yeah, something like the Big Buddy would work as well, but you'd want to be careful about making sure you have extra ventilation as those heaters are not supposed to be used in a confined space like that for very long since they are burning propane and the increased risk of CO2 poisoning. Thanks for watching!
What is condensation like when you’re running the tent without insert or stove? I’ve always been afraid of single wall tents because of interior condensation dripping on my down gear.
Hey there! I've always used the insert and/or stove personally as I'm not a huge floorless fan. That said, I've used single wall tents like the Zpacks and Durstan X-Mid and not had condensation issues any more that the typical. Thanks for watching!
Hey there! I can't say that I've had it in those conditions, but I believe Brad over at Argali has used it multiple times in AK. It does exceptionally well in rain during our use though. Thanks for watching!
Hey there! If you have the insert installed condensation is a non issue. Without that it's like most single wall shelters and you'll have to work around some condensation. Thanks for watching!
Hey there! That's the Winnerwell Fastfold Titanium stove. It's an awesome stove. There's a link to the specific model down in the description. Thanks for watching!

I'm with ya, I want a half-nest!
Definitely! I think (and hope) one might be on the way! Thanks for watching!
Half nest should be coming out in Aug. Will be about the same time as the stove they just announced for preorder.
Yeah, I heard about that! I'm looking forward to both of them! Thanks for watching.

Nice review! Love that tent! Great hunting tent! 🔥
Thanks John! It's an awesome hunting tent!
Great review I would like to see you compared it to the Peaks new teepee
Thanks! Yes, that would be a great review! I'll see what I can do! Thanks for watching!
Id like to see this thing in the Absaroka after being there for about 2 weeks. That trekking pole will be thrashed along with the tent i believe.
@anthonyhall8356 hey! That would be a great test I'm sure thanks for watching!

What kind of guy line did you add on to it? Thanks for the review, I'm leaning towards pulling the trigger on this one

If you didnt have the stove yet, would a propane heater like the big buddy work in there ?
Hey there! Good job.

Did you end up doing a video for the 2p?
Hey there! We don't have a video, but do have a review article coming shortly over on the website! Stay tuned over there as well. Thanks for watching!
How long would you want your stovepipe for the Absaroka or the Cimarron?
Hey there Scott! I've got a 6ft stove pipe, which works for either. I believe between 6-7ft is the recommended length. Thanks for watching!

How would you use these in sheep country in 70mph winds and rain in Alaska

Without a liner did you wake up with a bunch of condensation?
Hey there! If you have the insert installed condensation is a non issue. Without that it's like most single wall shelters and you'll have to work around some condensation. Thanks for watching!
@@BackwoodsPursuit Even with the liner being mesh it prevents the condensation?
@levonstilson9032 yeah, the mesh insert helps a ton....condensation still can eventually get through it, but the mesh usually does the trick.
what stove is that ?

How tall are you? Trying to gauge how big the tent is. Thanks.
@@ridge633 I am 5'11". So, I can't really fully stand in it like I said in the video...but it's got plenty of extra length for even taller folks.
@@BackwoodsPursuit Thanks I’m 5’10”. Excellent review. Trying to decide if I wanna keep my Cimarron and get the Absoroka.
@@ridge633 haha....I hear ya. I've got both this and the Cimarron and love them both...but they are different. Thanks for watching!
