Thanks for the review. I've been thinking about buying this drone since it came out. The price vs features is very good with this one and all of the reviews I've seen have been positive. The DJI Mini 2, which is no longer available, was their cheapest drone, but was too expensive, especially their fly longer package. Doesn't matter if DJI has more features if I can't afford them. Besides that, I'm just a hobbyist and am not planning on making a living flying a drone so the Potensic fits the bill for me.
Great to see DJI competitors, drones are very interesting to me but the entry price for a decent one scares most of us and cheaper one can be very bad so decent alternatives are welcome to see. Thanks for sharing with us
DJI has their sights set on bigger fish. Until you try one of the Atom drones, open your mind. Ten times the price for those other Chinese drones is not "a little more". I have no desire to support the inefficiencies inherent in that business model. But governments and large businesses around the world sure do. Soon, our hobby may be forbidden. Bought out by politicians. I have both Potensic Atoms. Yes, they really work. Nothing miraculous. Current technology at modern prices.
I purchase the DJI Mini 4 and i cant fly it anywhere. I had to go through a long process of unlocking a zone by going to the DJI website filling out a form to get permission to fly it in my yard. Then i went to an open area park and was trouble shooting for over half an hour to unlock it again in that area. After wasting 35 minutes and 30% battery I gave up and left the park frustrated and annoyed i couldn't fly the DJI. I went to other open area locations and couldnt fly it even though DJI "approved" my request. I'll be returning the DJI unfortunately as I cant fly the damn thing anyhwere without playing mother may I with DJI. Now looking for decent alternatives such as the Atom.
I just ordered the Potensic ATOM 3-Axis this morning. Watching the progress of the Countering CCP Drones Act, I didn’t feel comfortable going with DJI. I was very interested in the Mini 4 Pro and might still consider it depending on the outcome of the bill. Didnt see prop guards on my mini 3 pro and the colours on the video look beter than the mini 2, also video looks sharper than the mini 2and why would you compare it to the mini 3 saying it doest have Obstacle Avoidance its not on the mini 2 either, well done potensic for the price from what ive seen they give you more than dji pound for pound.
It’s a good step up from the cheaper drones, but now that you can get an Autel Nano + anytime for $450-$500, with larger sensor, I would probably still recommend the Autel if you’re mainly looking to take hi quality stills and video
In some places the Potensic atom fly more pack is still half the price of the nano plus premium pack. With the nano plus premium pack costing about the same as the basic pack for a mini 4 pro
The reality is that the majority of Mini Drone users likely use the DJI mini 2 or the 2SE at this point with a few Mini 1s still drifting around. So pretty much any of the issues that Potensic Atom has likely are barely noticeable to your average user and the Price is a bargin for people just wanting to make decent footage for videos. The DJI 3 and the 4 with the Autel likely for more professional users and those with decent bank accounts.
Choose DJI if you absolutely love China having every morsel of your flight data, no way out of remote id, hefty geofencing, and buying tech from a company that sells anti-DJI drone tech to law enforcement and nefarious actors alike. The company is unethical to say the least. But do your own research. This potensic drone is ridiculously good for $400 flat no tax no shipping fee for the fly more package. BTW the gimbal sticker glue residue comes off in seconds if you blot it off with the sticker itself.
While I agree that this is a great drone to fly, I am very disappointed that the first one I got had issues with the camera misting internally. Potensic replaced it immediately and their customer services were great. However the new one has started doing the same thing which has ruined the flying experience. Perhaps mine were in a faulty batch because i have seen a few other reviews on Amazon complaining of the same thing.
Im a beginner, so I got atom se. In 4 months I'll get atom. What won me over is that when signal lost, it came home. I'm not so impressed with obstacle. Avd if person master flying y worry about crashing. Plus big company's have geofencing, big turnoff. I won't exceed 120m, but I like when company not forcing me.
Come on guys all three DJI minis do not have obstacle avoidance only the pro. I would say for 350 bucks for the fly more that little sucker is worth the money
Camera quality is usable, that's exactly it. I have the mini 3 pro, honestly it is worth the price with the quality and all it provides. I don't know why this video quality to me looks not so good, but it's not too bad as well, at night well lets just forget that one. Actually I just miss flying my drone, sadly due to the situation in my country we are prohibited for now to fly them
You cannot really put this Atom up to the Dji Mini 3 or 4; those are way more capable when it comes to specs and capabilities, and also a lot more expensive. Comparing it to the Dji Mini 2 (SE) is more appropriate imo.
Some people don't really care about specs, they prioritize price. And as soon as they get something that can fly, has stable video and will come back of signal is lost, they can be quite happy.
Hi, can the drone be used without phone? I.E. connect drone to Tx and fly LOS? Also i watched Potensic video on connecting,,, i am confused, do yo have to connect the Tx and then also connect your phone? Can anyone help my Atom arrives today. Thanks.
Good review !! I have a specimen of this drone and every time I yaw to the right the horizon tilts 20' and stays there. Happens when I yaw only to the right. Yaw it back left and it goes level. Did you get this??
The drone is ok I have it for some time , BUT there is no ND filters for it, so forget cinematic shot, a big minus and a BIG one! , and it loses video on remote very often so your shot is useless... Buy a dji mini 2 it is 40€ difference and nd filters and have a good video....

I don't know about the image quality. It's no better than my 5 year old original Mavic Mini. The highlights get over exposed and even if they say it's 4k it lacks details. Digital sharpening isn't a replacement for details.Great with a competitor, but you still get what you pay for. No reason to buy this over cheaper DJIs.
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of potensic as a manufacturer, the drone looks very much like a dji and the design of the remote control is a direct copy of fimi.
It was the first thing to put me off too. My goodness, they could have minimally did a bright color plastic body. It is such a blatant reverse engineering job 😢. I am glad for competition in the space, it benefits the consumer. However, as a father looking to get our family into the hobby this year, idk if I want to invest in an inferior reproduction of the original. I mean, they both go up in the air. However, if my family uses a $1000 drone for 5 years, the price difference will be about $100 a year. Also, furthermore my kids r in robotics and will be going to engineering schools. I don’t want to devalue the innovators by purchasing from a company that just reverse engineered a dji. It’s not the message…

I believe this drone will be a great match. It only lacks some safety features such as obstacle avoidance.

This is frustrating. Check their maps first and you will get to.find a location.

Yeah, specs are fairly good, so is the camera performance.

It has GPS and records the takeoff point. I haven't tested much about non-smartphone use cases.

Hm, didn't notice it with mine. Did you try recalibrating?
@@TechMishka Yup. Did it repeatedly. Same thing. So now I over yaw by 45' off target and yaw 45' backward to target - flat horizon.
