- Опубліковано 19 лют 2023
- Adam examines a casting of Dream's Helm as seen in Netflix's The Sandman show, fabricated by the specialty costume makers at FBFX. Modelmaker Diana Denisova walks Adam through how the team at FBFX created this iconic prop for the show, from the sculptural bone-like elements to the detailed textures that cover its exterior surface. Truly a piece worthy of Dream of the Endless!

We need more spotlights on these creators. So inspiring to see the hardwork and passion they put in into their work

Watching those videos make me think I need to start creating to! So inspirering
Ditto to this. Loving these videos!
So cool that Diana shared so much insight on the different obstacles they had to overcome, awesome video!
They did an amazing job! The mask somehow looks even better than in the comics, it's such an iconic piece for the show.
I could've sworn this wasn't a stock photo for a profile picture on youtube...
@@orien2v2 Haha that's a cool coincidence!
Sandman universe has such an interesting aesthetic. The props costumes and sets are all very original.
Adam's brain working at a mile a minute, whilst being respectful, inquisitive and giving Diana space to explain is magnificent....what a gentleman! Hats (skeleton or not) off to him!!
If you've ever shot and edited pro video, then you definitely FEEL the cutaway at 1:00 while Adam struggles to put the helmet on a styrofoam head.
I felt seen, man....
Oh man. This is AWESOME.
I got into Sandman because of Netflix, since then I've bought the comic set and I'm almost done with my second read.
The emotions seeing these pieces! The stories behind them only make it better. Part of what I love so much about Sandman is how it came together, who drew it and coloured it. This is like that, but for the equally great series.
Thank you so much for this!
Have you tried the Audible original version? It's incredible with an awesome cast!
Love the artistic choices in the series. Great work on the physical props!
I like it when people talk so passionate
about stuff..
Thanks for the vid!
I absolutely LOVE what they did with the helm - what an amazing job. Honestly, I love what they did with the whole shebang, Sandman has gone far beyond my favorite piece of literature. I remember reading through the books for the first time and how truly awesome it felt. It's how I feel whenever I reread them, and seeing it in live action... it's brilliant, it's wonderful, it perfectly compliments Gaiman's masterpiece. Bravo, FBFX. 🖤
Diana is AMAZING and I squeaked when I saw the subject matter!!
Such an amazing job on that helmet. Very interesting to hear about the challenges of making props and how different materials react differently in the production process. Also I think Diana Denisova presented the process in a great way so that we who don't know anything about it both could understand the process and the complexity.
It's crazy what exhaustive effort is being asked of costume and prop makers in the name of continuity, but script-, set- and posture-continuity from scene to scene is just thrown out the window routinely even on the most expensive productions. On the early Internet whole sites were dedicated to finding rare movie mistakes, now they have become too numerous to tally.
I borrowed the comics back from my college friend back in 2001-ish.... now I own the leather bound "tomes". I would love to have all 7 siblings talismans, as wall hangers.
I love how this artist can't talk about creating, without smiling about what they made.
Diana sounds like a cool person to work with.
This is such a cool prop and so great to see the maker behind it!
OMG this is amazing to see the props and process! so like Props to the department and artist working on this it really turned out amazing and was so cool to see the final results on the show.
I loved the Sandman and that plague helmet was incredible. Fantastic work! Would love to have one of those.
This is what it seems to what I have been looking for! I have so many shots from the show and finally found this. Thanks Tested!
I so want to see more of this series. It's super weird and gave me a lot of "eehh what?" vibes but in a totally good way with a very interesting style. I hope well get a nice long season 2 and 3 out of it. I think there's room for the story to develop a lot more :D
I am looking at this and I’m really inspired to make one! Thank you for posting this!
Adam made this video just in time so I can make my helm more accurate with all that I’ve seen in this video
I LIVE FOR THESE VIDEOS! SO freakin SWEET!
this is CRAZY. I made a foam replica following SKS Props tutorial and can see soo many things i want to improve on now
I feel so inadequate now. Damn. That’s just friggin’ amazing work.
always a thrill to meet the production team for props like this ! its fun to see all the stages, and get a feel of the process from a-z !
This is absolutely fascinating! I love Sandman!
Such a wonderful piece.
We all want Goldie prop replicas!
The series is great to!
Prop making is awesome and I enjoy miniature sculpting, terrain creation, models, etc., but jeez. The whole concept of making a work of art, multiple times, identically each time, would drive me insane. How do they do it? Like the heads from the Pinocchio video; how does an artist go through and make 10, 20, 50, or a hundred of those heads identically!?
I know right it sounds like a massive pain
Yes! Very entertaining/informative.
Oh this is so cool !
Yeees I love Sandman!!
More from the show pls! 💗
So good.
Love it!!!
I had forgotten about that show, as i have never specifically tuned into any of the stuff Gaiman does, but this helmet piques my interest.
I love the weird gasmask designs, also why i like Hellboy II so much, Kroenen, Strauss and Abe are one of my favorite designs out of this millennium.
loved the episode where he keeps meeting the guy in the bar
Good grief, Adam is good at interviewing creatives. Even with his depth of knowledge, he makes me feel like I'm learning with him.
All hail the prop makers and costume designers!
Oooh, neat!!
I want to see Adam build a vacuum metaliser
this was pretty cute
Love that show
I know it's a lot of links, but it would be cool to have links to these creator's social media (if they exist) so we can see more of their work!
From somebody who's only saw the show. Is it really the skull and spine of a god?
Yes, Dream/Morpheus made it from an unnamed gods remains. I don't remember if it was "before time" or just long long ago but they never really specify. The show is pretty fairly accurate to the comics.
@@chrishahn3834 That's very morbid. Imagine your skull and spine being turned into a mask.
I believe it's covered a bit more in the more recent Sandman Overture issues. Here's hoping the show does well enough to get that far, I would be beyond thrilled. If you have the time though, I would highly recommend checking the books out. Not at all as some sort of purist - I absolutely love the show - but between Gaiman's writing and all of the brilliant artists attached to it, it's just one of life's many delightful wonders haha cheers! 🖤
Never go up against her in cosplay then 😂
Amazing work.
Can you make one for me? I feel so horribly self conscious going out in public because I have pimples.
Ugh. Now this will go waitlist 😂
Does anyone know if Dream's helmet was directly inspired by the head of the Space Jockey from ALIEN?
Her last name is a whole human lineage.
Based on the Sam Keith design.
Looks pretty cool, unlike the rest of the show.
Ok, off topic but I had the most random Indian rap music video as an ad for this video. Hahaha
MORE SANDMAN
You might at least credit Sam Keith, who designed the helmet for the comics.
I eagerly waited for the Sandman release because I was a Neil Gaiman fan . Got a quarter of the way through and realized I wasn't gay enough .
9:19 huh, i guess that's what the point of the mask is
You know who else has a helmet prop from The Sandman? My mom!
Neat, how'd she get it?
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh not putting out the chairs next time
I remember Cerebus making fun of this but I had no idea what it actually was.
Great video Mr Adam sir And Miss Diana you are knowledge lady. Look gorgeous beautiful
So where's the poggers Minecraft strats?
I never understood why the spine type bones in the front of the face.
What TF is “Dream”? A little background would be nice.
Horrible show but amazing props
I couldn’t finish The Sandman…it was ok to start with, but boy did it get boring
You missed out
Power through, it gets weirder. 😉
It got better!
The Sandman was a cool show until the pedophilia references in the diner happened.
the androginous thing freaks me out
why?
Which thing?
@@D.S.handle the androginous one
Get lost and keep your scared comments to yourself.
well done Adam for acting like he's never seen this stuff before. 3D printers?...sheesh
