The choir is amazing and the conductor... you just can't get your eyes off him. His stage presence is spectalular. You can see his passion and mastery with his every move, from his face, arms and down to his heels.
George Hernandez's arrangement did wonders for this otherwise obscure Cebuano song and turned it into an excellent choir piece appreciated internationally.
I beg to defer. The original version of Rosas Pandan has long been a popular folk song in the Cebuano and the Bisaya speaking provinces. He picked the song and arranged it because it is a musical piece that would click in the global arena. It's the hilarious lyric "nag tabisay ang laway" - the drooling saliva that made the song funny. Choirs like to sing funny and melodious songs.
Heard it sung solo by the likes of Pilita Corrales and others and it's hohum mediocre. Turn it into a choir piece with its rhythmic crescendo and finissimo arrangement and it becomes magnifico.
stumbled through this while looking for choir renditions of 'Hallelujah' and as a Cebuano, I am impressed and happy to see a Cebuano song being sung by a choir from another country. Love your voices
Question: Why this SONG had been such a number one choice in the repertoirre of singing chorale? Was the classical tempo that we heard and watched are that unique in setting the Adrenaline on its peak? Or is it the character played by chorale that we're get hooked on? This manifestation of encouraging wits played by the group of talented choir has an overwhelmed impact on both the chorale, conductor and audiences alike which are evidently seen when it performed in several key cities in Europe, Asia and Americas. This Rosas Pandan hype has given me absolute entertainment from start to finish whenever I've watching it, it transcends me into "IMMORTALITY".
The new arrangement of Rosas Pandan has that fiery and bombastic element that is best shown in choral music. It ends in such a vocal excitement that relates to the lad's drooling saliva smitten by the dancing beautiful maiden.
@@NurseTalking George Hernandez started it in 1995 in Barcelona with Rosas Pandan when he was requested to arrannge a foreign song for everybody to sing. He was a UP grad and now a music teacher in SF. Rosas pandan was soon followed by many more of his arrangements like ayayay pagibig, paro parong bukid, leron leron sinta, etc....

I beg to differ a bit in your translation. Kabukiran in Cebuano does not mean farm but mountain or hill. So the 1st stanza of the song would mean: Here comes Rosas Pandan Who just arrived from the mountains
I'm so proud of being a bisaya..this song is a visayann folk song of the Philippines but it made to be world class..the choirs were ont Filipino but still they sang it with correct and clear pronunciation..thank you so much guys for making this song to be popular to your country.. I salute you guys..
Meanwhile cebuano here, never heard this song maybe cuz i was born in the late 90s and actually realizing what the song meaning is from reading the lyrics, was actually funny XD. But really a good song and you guys did great singing!!
I had tears eyes watching this. Totally touched that these amazing and talented artist took their time to learn this piece and learn to sing the native Bisayan (Cebuano) dialect. I’m very touched and so impressed. I’m so feeling so nostalgic. I miss home. Thank you, thank you. 😍😍.
I share oksappysinger's opinion. I, too, think this is the best rendition of the song by a non-Filipino.choir. i would say it's up to the standards of our best choirs. (I am Filipino.) It is finely textured, has excellent volume control, and the tempo is on point! Kudos!
The arrangement and composition of this cebu native song is superb. Thank you guys for giving life to this almost forgotten song nowadays. This is a treasured and priceless song. Btw im from cebu.
I am a Filipino from visayas i think this is the best version I've ever watch and heard well done folks. I LOVE YOU ALL IN BEHALF OF MY COUNTRY PHILIPPINES.
Wow... Excellent singing plus very good conducting! There was the heavenly harmony of music, accurate precision and tempo, very expressive faces of the singers, very good stage presence! Really perfect and total quality performance! As a Filipino, I take pride in our Filipino music especially our folksongs! I am a bit wondering that more foreign countries are choosing our musical pieces for their concert activities. There must be something in our folk music that makes it stands out! Thank you anyway for choosing our folksongs! Good luck and more power to your future performances in competitions... University of Novodski!!!!

Maoy kabilin sa akong ginikanan
Awit nga labing karaan
Awit nga gikan sa kabungturan

Ayayay ayayay ayayay
Aya-ay sa akong balitaw
Kanindot ba mosayaw
Daw yamog ang kabugnaw

Nagtan-aw kang Inday
