The line “Though seasons come and go and sunshine turns to snow.” Is by far the most heartbreaking line I have ever heard in any song ever.
In Japanese culture sunshine is associated with life however snow is associated sometimes with love and sometimes with death and in the the context of shigatsu wa kimi no uso means BOTH love and death as in the death of snow kaori confessed her love to kousei.
So “sunshine” (life without any connotations of love) turns to “snow”(both love and death at the same time)
Or just simply it could mean how warmth and love turns into cold and lonliness.
M k Yeah but that’s not as deep and I think we were supposed to find the deeper meaning behind the song anyways. YLIA is incredibly sad. “Orange” is meant to convey the darkness of the second half of the series.
The meaning of snow in Japan also reminds me of the song that Mafuyu from given sings in ep.9
*Spoilers*
Yuki was represented as snow, Yuki loved Mafuyu so much and then after an argument they had, he committed suicide. I also think it was around winter time when this happened.
Oh damn it, it's even more complex what I think (I only partially associate with that...)

And also the line later “we will always have tomorrow up ahead”. “Tomorrow” is something Kaori couldn’t afford to have.
No matter how time changes, Kaori will never come back again. Never. She has left Kousei forever.

Maybe that day could be when you are at the lowest point in your life, maybe it could be when you're the happiest man on earth.

I discovered Your Lie in April just when I was retaking the piano this year, after 3 years with no contact with it due to borderline traumatic experiences with my previous teacher. Thus I related to Kousei a lot when I saw this show, and seeing everything he went through, even if he is not real, even if he doesn't read or listen me. He has helped me to be determined now that I finally am playing music again.

I can kinda relate to what you’re saying. I haven’t been able to play the piano for 3,5 years now. I had problems with my teacher and decided to stop taking classes(after 4 years with that witch that calls herself a teacher, I couldn’t take it anymore) my parents got angry at me for not finishing the year(there were 2 months left) and sold my piano as punishment.
When i saw your lie in april about a year ago I could relate to kousei. The show is a different kind of special to me because i know the feeling of not being able to play the instrument you love and i understood how he felt. After (and while) watching it i really wanted to play again but I can’t do that yet. But one day i will have enough money to buy my own piano and play again.

DIO overhyped but wouldn’t say trash. The music and the visuals are good. I found the story lacking and I was annoyed with how it constantly reminded me of the mommy issues the protag has. And as far as the “sad” part, it was too predictable. I’ll give it a 55%

After hearing the Japanese original on repeat for ages now, and hearing this cover only just now... just wow. You managed to capture the heartache and the beauty this song carries. The piano being an octave (not sure if it is a single octave? Could be more?) lower than the original is perfect. Your signing is gentle, and conveys the weight of the lyrics perfectly.
I teared up, because understanding the lyrics reminded me of Kaori, and her biggest wish: to have been heard and never be forgotten. The beauty in the tragedy.

I cry every single time I watch this anime, more than the last. I cry during the earlier episodes because I already know so well what's coming next, and yet I keep coming back. I think it's because I like knowing how things end, even if it's depressing, and knowing how things turn out for Kaori and Kousei gives me comfort despite how much they've lost. If anything, Your Lie In April has taught me to just let life flow because you really don't know what's coming next, and tomorrow is never guaranteed. I'm sure no one will read this, but I hope everyone can find the courage to live life to the fullest.
This song reminds me of my mom because when I was in a dark place thinking about taking my own life every day she would endless nights telling me it's going to be alright you don't son I will always be here with you until the day I die now my mother isn't dead but it scares me that i know one day she will i just hope i will be ready for that day. People cherish your loved ones because we never know ifs that's the last time we see them I hope my story inspires people who felt the way I did all those years ago dont ever stop fighting there is always hope

This awkward, clumsy kid came onto the stage and accidentally hit the piano stool with his butt. It was too funny. When I found out we were in the same middle school, I was ecstatic. But how would I ever come to talk to you? Maybe I’d hang out at the lunch concession. Instead, I just watched you from afar.
I mean. After all. You all seemed to get along so well. There wasn’t really any space in there for someone like me.
When I was a kid, I had to have an operation and I started having to be at the hospital for regular check-ups. In the first year of middle school, I collapsed and I was admitted over and over. With every visit, I was there for longer and longer. Really, I didn’t get to class much in middle school, I spent more time at the hospital. And I knew something was wrong with my body.
One night, I saw my parents crying in the waiting room and I knew that my time was running out.

I wasn’t scared anymore to get contact lenses.
