Banda, Norteño music it’s actually polka. German migrants that used to visit Tijuana and the north of Mexico coming from US brought their music and Mexico adapted it. A mix of German, Russian migrants that where coming to work on the trains.
Oh wow that's awesome! I knew it was inspired by polka but had no idea how it was all connected. Thanks for sharing!
@@JoseArteagaTravels Polka it’s not popular because it’s not in Spanish, but it’s part of the Mexican folklore on the north.

Dang Mexico celebrates all year round COOL 👀👀
Pure LIFE and HAPINESS and celebration of BEING ALIVE. 🥳🥳🥳🥳🎉🎉🎉✨✨✨
Just when you think there's nothing going on theres another celebration right around the corner! Viva Mexico!
Looks like A LOT of fun!
It was some of the most fun I've had while living out here! So happy I can share this amazing day with all of you!
Viva Mexico
Viva Mexico!
Jose i wish i was there!
It’s red mud, the same they use to make their artisan jars, etc. It’s a tribe initiation, like native americans paint their faces. It’s a welcoming into the tribe.
That's awesome! Thanks for that information! Makes a lot of sense!
If you are not eating street food you are not living the good life
Santa
Jaja that's right! Craving some of those Tacos and Chalupas right now! Viva Mexico!
I wish I was there ,oh well and it’s raining here in California 😢
One day you will be! Good luck with your journey! Thanks for sharing with us!
This was a joy to watch! It was so nice seeing people just having a good time.
Glad that you enjoyed it so much! It really was a lot of fun!
I think you are pregnant now!!!
With twins! 😅
more of these videos please
Will do! Glad you enjoyed it!
Stray animals get adopted by companies, you could show that on your videos if you see it. Some OXXOs have stray animals whit uniform, gas stations and super markets.
Oh yeah that is a super common thing out here! I remember there was a place with this cat named Ralph that "worked" at some auto dealership and then a human named Ralph was hired and they called him Ralph The Human, because renaming Ralph to Ralph the Cat just wasnt going to to work out 🤣
God save the Queen!! La Reyna Mirian de Ixil ❤
Jaja that's right! She was blessing us all with Mezcal. She must be protected at all costs! Viva Ixil Yucatan Mexico!!!!!!
Another great video Jose. The Mexicans up north do the same thing expressing their Native American heritage like their cousins the Mayas. I had a real estate investment business in Florida and hired a lot of maya and mexican workers to rehabilitate my property. The difference between a maya and a mexican is just language and culture not race, as a chinese and Korean its language and culture not race. Most Americans don"t know this. Again excellent video.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
The guys you bought beer from where sitting outside a rehab center, lol. AA (Alcohólicos Anónimos). It’s a rehab for alcoholics.
Jaja! Oh my i didnt even notice! That is hilarious! Mexico truly is surreal in the best way possible! Thanks for pointing out that hidden gem!
Thank you Jose for this awesome video straight from the streets of Ixil!! I really loved it and I felt like I was back in Merida and the surrounding area. What a joy. 🎉😊❤I appreciate it so much and can’t wait to get back soon. I’ve been sharing this video all day!
That is awesome! Glad to hear that! Much appreciated! Thanks for sharing!
Could that kidnapping/ransom thing be a recreation of what their tribes did in the past(1400s-1500s) to other tribes when they fought and took people? That's what it seems like to me.
I have no idea. It might just be fun and games and nothing to do with any kind of history
@@JoseArteagaTravels Yup.
0:10 míralo 💀
Jaja 👀
I enjoy videos that include locals.
Awesome me too! Expect more to come!
Love everything about Mexico, except the way some animals are treated towards the end of these parties.
Thanks for sharing!
They are native AMERICAN!!!!!!!°
Correct, they are Native to the Americas. But yeah all kidding aside they are of Mayan decent dressed as Native Americans from the USA
Your right! just like all the mexicans - yaki, zapoteca, otomi, azteca, tarahumara, tarascan central and up northern mexico. Not hispanic or latinos and not illegal aliens.
One of the things I love about your videos Jose, is that you show how good life can be if you don't avoid the culture or isolate yourself from it, but embrace it. I see things in your videos I don't see anywhere else. I need to show my siblings videos like this because they're all convinced that Mexico is nothing but gang members and drug lords and that I'm going to get kidnapped the minute I arrive there. You've got a gift for this kind of thing brother.
Muchas Gracias! I really appreciate the kind words! So happy to hear my videos help show what I see when I am out here to others. I really love it out here and I know so many others will also love it if they get to see it for themselves. Just trying to do my part in helping people find out how amazing Mexico truly is!
Is it cheaper to live in the villages🌱🥭? Can you Live with little money if you live the natural life 🌱.
Yes of course! Millions of Mexicans do it everyday
Just some honest and straight up fun in the sun for the whole family. How lovely ❤ 🥳 🎉
Viva Mexico!
I would absolutely love it! I miss hang'n out with my compadres, and going to all of the celebrations between Redding and Corning CA.
I'm you would! It was an amazing day and celebration! Thanks for sharing!
Really enjoyed this video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
damn I missed this..!
There's always next year!
I thought you quit drinking? 😂😂 great vid bro! 🤘🏼🇲🇽🤠
I quit smoking! I still drink the nectar of the gods from time to time 😅
@@JoseArteagaTravels Oh ok, that's what up man. Can't wait to come out there 🤠 Me and the fam got tickets booked for July 🇲🇽🔥😎
😂😂😂😂

🎉Great video 📹 🎉❤🎉
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
That looks like a lot of fun 😀
It really was an amazing time! Thanks for sharing!
How can I connect with the expats in Ixil?
You should try to ask around in the local expat Facebook groups. But I don't know of any expats who live there. Good luck with your search.
I'm sure people are nice there, but sorry to say big cities & crowds are not my thing. I like living out in the rural areas better.
That's Great! Thanks for sharing!
