I have lived in La Paz for 5 years and have found the locals to be beyond friendly and helpful. It’s what the town is known for. I admin a couple of La Paz Facebook groups and locals on those sites are very helpful and happy to answer newbie questions. Even before I spoke any Spanish, people were so sweet and kind. Of course, I treat people with respect and respect the fact that I an immigrant in this beautiful country.
thanks for sharing
Hi, I'm a 57 year old Canadian with a number of question if you have the time to answer them. Do you own or rent? If rent, how much/how big and approx where? Do you own a car? Do you need a car? What are your monthly expenses for accommodation/hydro/internet/cellphone and groceries? Are you planning on staying? if not, why not? Thank you for anything you care to share elsewise.. Stephen
Keyword: Immigrant. Thanks for not using "expat" or "digital nomad." :)
Mazatlán is my favorite so far - so glad to see it listed here. Carnaval 2024 is occurring now - bringing 2 million people to celebrate - one huge party! The total solar eclipse of April 8 is estimated to bring 1.5 million more! A huge motorcycle rally - the size of Sturgis in the USA - is planned for May 2024. A Costco may be coming here soon. The food here is very good - I've been enjoying the local fruits, veggies, seafood, beef, chicken and eggs which are delicious.
Spent a week in PV last month, was very taken by the natural beauty, diverse geography and the seemingly endless list of things to do. The people were so friendly, and the variety of cuisines also stuck with us. Definitely on the short list.
Huatulo is our fav, then Isla Mujeres & then Puerto Morelos.
Of course Huatulco is on this list!!! Been there many times.
Puerto Escondido is my favorite! The vibe is like no other place I've been and the beaches, don't even get me started...
Shhhhhhhh!
Waiting patiently for this one. Yes!
I love how you said to go on the hottest time to make sure you can handle it , even knowing mentally it gets way hotter, if you visit during a more comfortable beautiful time then you will think “it can’t be that bad I’m in paradise” trust me I’m from Tucson, Arizona and people would visit during winter and fall in love then freak out when summer comes 😅 same for those of us who don’t like cold or rain , we should during those times actually to experience it and see if the good outweighs one of the bads
thanks! and you’re right, Arizona can be extremely hot! same as many parts of Mexico
You are right! Better to "live" in a place like Guadalajara and vacation on the coast.
I’m glad you brought up the heat. I myself can’t take the heat. I’m currently just touring around Mexico for the winter. I’ve been here 3 months with 2 months to go. I was in Oaxaca area, but when the sky’s were clear, the sun was just too much. If you just looked at the temps, it wasn’t all that hot. But the sun is brutal!
Since I drive down, I’m working my way to higher grounds just to find cooler weather. And it’s only early Feb! I’m in Puebla, and Pachuca is my next destination.
I moved from Tucson to Mazatlán 10 months ago and I describe the difference in the summer as jumping from the oven to the sauna 🥵 I live in Centro and love Mazatlán but I miss my Tucson eastern foothills wildlife. 🌵🐗🦉
14:50 Having lived in Mazatlán for a year, I can tell you the Golden Zone (Zona Dorada) is definitely not the quiet area of the city. It is party central 😅 Some areas near the Golden Zone like Sábalo Country are quieter but even Centro is quieter than GZ overall. You know I love your channel though 🫶🏼 Just thought I’d add that note here 😉
I'm living in Mazatlán now, and staying in the Golden Zone 5 blocks inland from the beach road. It is much quieter than my AirBNB in Centro was. However anyplace along the main beach road would be noisy - whether in Centro or the Golden Zone. Those pulmonias and ATVs travel that beach road playing loud music - party central here in Mazatlán - Golden Zone and Centro.
Puerto Vallarta. 👍
Great video. If I one day can find that 100% remote position I am confident that Mexico will be a spot as a second home if not primary one day. God bless
When you find the right role and want to move to México we can help you get here 😀 mexicorelocationguide.com/guide/
Love this video very informative! Can you do a list of beach towns that are not touristy more simple with more of a local vibe please😊? That's where I would love to live❤❤
I love Ensenada I hope to buy land there soon. I love that Its so close to the US
Hooray Progreso made it to the top 3! I will say however that I have found Yucatecans to be quite friendly.
They are very friendly! However, some people confuse their passion for keeping things yucatecan when foreigners come to town, for them being upset. But that's not the case at all once you get to know them :) Thanks for watching
Progreso & la paz
Isla Mujeres ❤
Yas!
We wintered there for years and thought we would retire there but when we thought of practicality… health care, shopping, etc, not to ,emotion the cost of real estate, we decided it was best left as a vacation destination and we chose to live full time in La Paz
😂
No
I love your videos! Thank you for all you do.
Always great content Mariana you’re giving us so many great options! Excited !!
Thank you so much for your video and the extensive and informative details of Mexico beaches. Job well done!!
Thank you.
Much love for my city. ATB from sunny Cancun! 😎
Thank you so much I just love your channel and listening to you. About 3 years from retirement and My wife and I are seriously considering one of the beach locations.
Thanks for the support! If you want to go on a scouting trip check out our Mexico Relocation Tours mexicorelocationguide.com/tours/
Mazatlan
thanks
I’m not telling anyone 😮
haha. 😆
Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán
Hola, I really enjoy your videos, thanks so much for making them. You quote rentals per month at say 10,000 to 30,000 pesos. I've searched on the usual AirBnB and VRBO and would say the prices are triple that. How do you find rentals at the rates your suggesting?
Not in Airbnb but through realtors or directly with the landlords. I have recommended realtors in our complete Mexico Relocation Guide. And we also include all the Facebook groups we fund rentals in for various cities in Mexico

Mariana, which are the 6 most popular big cities?
I live in San Felipe B.C is quite and it’s got all the stores and it’s super Americanized n the main thing is close to the USA which is a big plus for me
Also what are the beach towns near the nuevo progreso* border? I have family in the Valle close to that border and would like to be somewhat close🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽😊
Great video, thank you! Where did Playa del Carmen come in? We are looking into purchasing a place either in Playa del Carmen or Puerto Vallarta. We are worried about the sargassum in Playa though. What are your thoughts?
Do you know anything about Tampico? I move there in a few months to work at their international school.
Es la nuevo orleans de mexico. Misma arquitectura. Dicen que debajo de sus playas hay una base extraterrestre, un lugar enigmatico sin duda. Es bonito
Let me know which city is at the top of YOUR list
Like Maz, don't like PV & especially Manzanillo, La Paz beach is good, but I didn't like the city anywhere near as much as Maz. Playa del Carmen & that area is also OK, Cozumel is also nice. I really like the East Cape around Los Barriles, from say Punta Pescadero to Punta Arena & just run on down the coast to San Jose del Cabo. It's about the same distance to La Paz & San Jose an hour & 15-20 minutes, but that area is without good medical, you have to go to the cities. Actually going to Progreso/Merida next month so that may jump into my "liked" areas. But...Maz has everything. The golden Zone, the upper class locals areas, nice areas out of town & it has all the resorts you could want for great dining & entertainment & the local restaurants are awesome! We almost always stayed at the El Cid & were going to buy in their residential community across from the hotel but business got in the way. The fishing is THE BEST! Finished my grand slam of Marlin there & caught some big ones & a 365# tuna. Just catch some nice 50# Tuna, a smaller Marlin/Sail, Take some big chunks to your favorite Sushi place & they will put it on ice for 3 or 4 days (that's how long you do it or freeze it, have also done it right from the boat, but you shouldn't) then they will fix it for you with all the trimmings & you just give them some & it's free. Greatest Sushi ever! (you can guess I like Maz) The medical is first rate & as said in the video, the airport will get to the US quickly. Phoenix, San Diego, LA - not too far, a little over 3 hr to LA, 2hrs to Phoenix. Been meaning to get down to Zwat & Ixtapa, so that will be coming soon. Lots of nice beaches in MX.
What do you recommend for young families? We enjoy surfing, restaurants and would love an international school.
Check out San Jose del Cabo
I lived in Mazatlan for a year (Nov 22-Nov23). If you don't speak Spanish, don't expect the natives to. It is a party town, and she is right. It is loud, wild, and nuts at night. If you dislike noise, can't speak Spanish, and like to see polluted water pumped into the ocean, this place is for you. I lived on the 15th floor facing the beach....my rent was 38k pesos and that was the best deal I could get. It is a fun place if young and Spanish. Gringos beware. She is right about PV..it has the best of all worlds. My advice, go to PV and avoid Mazatlan at all costs.
What's a peso
We plan on moving to Mexico in about 3-4 years, but we want to be in central Mexico and avoid the cost for a/c and heating. Then we can go to the beach towns and stay for several weeks during the cooler months 😎
Our highlands video is coming soon ☺️
@@MexicoRelocationGuide I'll be looking for it!
This list was quite interesting. Only one beach town on the east coast. Which is a little strange. But more important is no mention of the crime/narco problems, which we know Acapulco is still bad. But this is a nice video.
@6:09 You mean the Sea of Cortez...then again it was named after Hernán Cortés the kiIIer. So you are forgiven. Should at least have mentioned it or by the original name Mar Bermejo (“Vermilion Sea”)
It’s actually the Gulf of California… locals have a real problem with Sea of Cortez.
where's my post
Best place is Cozumel . Period
Maztalan is very nice but it's boring for anyone under 50 imho...lived there for 6 months
Is just a place to go visit
PV landlords are very neglectful .They don't fix anything . I once stayed in the owner's family's apartment , and it was the same thing . Shower drains don't work . A/c problems , loose head boards etc. Renters are expected to fix these rentals up themselves , from light bulbs to toilet lids , and sliding doors .
Confused why your graphics show $ signs when you are representing Pesos. Distracted doing calculations rather than listening to the dialogue.
Pesos and Dollars use the same $ sign
My bad! Funny, I learned that earlier today when researching Playa del Carmen rentals. Thanks and my apologies. @@MexicoRelocationGuide
I understand the Cartels have made PV dangerous
Five of six are very convenient for westerners, and they are great cities to visit. From Toronto tho, most of those destinations add 1.5 hours to a flight. So Ontarians may prefer to suffer the sargassum in exchange for the shorter flight. Love those Pacific coast towns but they’re just a lot farther away. Hope somebody soon discovers a shorter flight path. Yuk yuk.
It is totally legal to list a price in USD. Legally, a buyer can not be forced to pay in USD. The official currency rate on the settlement/pay date is used.
It is illegal to not accept Pesos- and contracts should have the official currency which is pesos
Rents very rareLy listed in USD however for properties for sale, you must list in Pesos and can add the USD price.
Thanks for your video but please make a correction to your headline.. You dont live "in" beaches you live in beach "towns", otherwise you would be living in the sand!..
I've been to La Paz. It is NOT gorgeous.
Instead of building more f ing hotels and condos, why don't they build light rail, tram and monorail systems in Mexico, instead of more roads and cars like in the US and Canada !
