  • Come along on a whirlwind 24 hours to New Jersey! I'm visiting with my friends Amy and Briana (who you may remember from Rhinebeck!) in the cute town of Red Bank. We're going to local yarn store (Mother Knitter) for a Little Wolf Knits trunks show. There's travel, food, knitting, and more!

In Canada, home fries are just fried up potato cubes/chunks while hash browns are potato patties. Must be the same in the northern states.

In the New England States Home Fries are cubes, normally they would be leftover boiled russet potatoes. Hash Browns are shredded potatoes. My Step-Dad would put some French's Yellow Mustard on his plate to have with his Home Fries and ketchup with his scrambled eggs. Never figured out where he came up with those as I don't think my Step-grandparents did that so he must have picked it up when he was in the Air Force.

In Massachusetts home fries are cubed potatoes with spices ...hasbrowns are squared usually shredded potatoes on the grater spices ..potatoe pancakes are grated fraw potatoes mixed with flour salt and pepper and onion fried like a pancake. The other potatoe thing is left over mashed potatoes fried in butter. Lol.
      The potatoes

I am so sorry I missed your visit to Mother Knitter! I tuned in, as usual to watch, and oh My! Was I surprised to see you feature my Yarn, Divine Yarn! Thank you so much. I used to live here locally, but lived in Buffalo ( my home town) for several years but recently returned to NJ, where I now work at Mother Knitter. I hope to see you again! 😊

Here in Ohio, home fries are cubed fried potatoes and hash browns are shredded (sometimes shredded and packed into patties). 😋
I love watching your vlogs...I would be a nervous wreck walking around the city, boarding trains, etc.! 😂

Falling for Christmas wasn't as bad as 12 pups of Christmas. I live for cheesy Christmas movies, but that one was realll bad! Even all the cute dogs couldn't save it! lol!

hash brows and home fries are two different things!! hash browns are like grated (think potato pancakes), but home fries are potato chunks, which are usually made in house

So glad you had fun on your overnight trip. Hash browns are shredded and home fries are sliced potatoes. I am originally from philly and my mom would cook home fries in a cast iron skillet with onions and green peppers until the potato would get a crust on it. We would mostly have home fries for breakfast on a Sunday but my mom would sometimes cook it for dinner as a side.

im from florida but we refer to home fries as pieces of potato (can be sliced, diced, or cubed) but hashbrowns are shredded ! i prefer home fries!
