It is so refreshing to see a band who actually enjoy to create and play ORIGINAL one of a kind music like Mumford. I saw them perform on the Grammys and got chills. This is amazing. These are real artists. "artists" on the radio please take note...
If you like music you have to love this wonderful song!!! Saw the brit awards on german tv this week and after seeing the performance of mumford and sons and rihanna i can tell who of them has music in the heart and who has not....
Like absolutely no other band I've ever heard, Mumford & Sons inspires me to write my own music and keep trying to become a musician myself. I challenge everybody to find a band that lyrically inspires like Mumford & Sons does. 32 people are tone-deaf, heartless people who cannot find joy in life. Rather than hunt them down, I'd like to find them and give them all a hug so that maybe they can find a little bit of joy in their lives.
This song is an allegory for "Plato's Cave". It was a conversation between Plato and Socrates about how we are all trapped by our own perception of reality.
In the stormy sea of craptastic music that is out these days arises a bright and shining beacon of hope called Mumford and Son's These guys are just simply amazing to me! I notice there are 48 people that I "dislike"
A friend and I drove 12 hours to see them in Memphis at the Beale St Music Festival...Amazing show, so worth the drive! I enjoyed every second of it!!!!
there is somthing so spiritual bout this music id be the last one to admit it but i feel so up lifted by u guys iv had my fair share of trials anc tribulations it is all so relevent its freaky thankx
It's empty in the valley of your heart The sun, it rises slowly as you walk Away from all the fears and all the faults you've left behind The harvest left no food for you to eat You cannibal, you meat-eater, you see But I have seen the same I know the shame in your defeat I will hold on hope and I won't let you choke On the noose around your neck And I'll find strength in pain And I will change my ways I'll know my name as it's called again 'Cause I have other things to fill my time You take what is yours and I'll take mine Now let me at the truth, which will refresh my broken mind So tie me to a post and block my ears I can see widows and orphans through my tears I know my call despite my faults and despite my growing fears But I will hold on hope and I won't let you choke On the noose around your neck And I'll find strength in pain And I will change my ways I'll know my name as it's called again So come out of your cave walking on your hands And see the world hanging upside down You can understand dependence when you know the maker's heart So make your siren's call and sing all you want I will not hear what you have to say 'Cause I need freedom now and I need to know how To live my life as it's meant to be And I will hold on hope and I won't let you choke On the noose around your neck And I'll find strength in pain And I will change my ways I'll know my name as it's called again
somewhere on one of mumford and sons videos about a month ago i read a very touching short comment about some womans son loving their music and how she played their music at his funeral. this is the most touching thing i could think of and i think there is no higher respect then playing a song at your childs funeral.
Kevan Barr Now that I watched the video again they showed it in the beginning, thanks for your attention! :) I thought it was shakespeare's and company in Paris, they have a similiar room with a piano on the 2nd floor as well :)
Mumford & Sons is one of the best bands out there in my opinion. They have it all...amazing talent, music, lyrics and performances...but above all they have true, sincere passion. Something that most mainstream music sadly lacks.
They have taken the root of what music is and combined it with their hearts and soul to produce a passionate song about life... There is nothing better...
Gawd - I cant take it - i just keep listening to it over and over and the bookshop version blows doors on the produced one I cant get enough of this song and this sound right now - or perhaps for ever! Brilliant
This song has helped me in my darkest days. Helped me stay here and find Self discovery and happiness. If i ever hear this live in concert i will cry, as i am now because hat this song helped me through
mumford and sons keeps music alive. they are true to their lyrics in the days of "today it is friday, tomorrow is saturday and sunday comes afterwards"
I recently endured a serious head injury and have missed the first month and a half of my senior year in high school. I just felt like giving up. These guys helped me pull through. Thank you Marcus, Ted, Ben, and Winston, you gave me hope.
Its amazing how this song is even MORE powerful when you can see the pain and emotion in the band.. I really didn't think this song could get any better, but I'm happy with pleasant surprises!
I can't believe I waited this long to listen to these guys. I kept hearing everyone sing their praises but just kept putting off actually listening. Definitely buying this album asap.
You guys are amazing! I had been listening to your music for a while and I completely fallen in love with your music! Lots and lots of grateful from Romania!
This music means so much for so many souls. I'd like to show this to everybody who says that art is useless. This art makes us breathe. Thank you. I love every single lyric and note you play.
The fact that they sing from the soul and with passion just makes them a million times better. you don't find much of that kind of passion with today's songs.
Wow... all I got to say is these guys make music that makes me feel every word for happy, great, comfortable, etc. Plus hard and heavy rock is my 1 choice. M&S reminds me of my family and the great times we had, have and will
I just went through a breakup and this song spoke to me on a deeply personal level. I just had to sign up for an account to leave this one comment. But I will hold on hope and I won't let you choke on the noose around your neck and I'll find strength in pain, and I'll change my ways, I'll know my name as it's called again That's exactly what I needed to hear. Thanks guys.
Musicianship at its finest... Also testament to the Piano Tuner (my brother), who appears at the start of the video, and managed to make a ropey old bookshop piano sound fantastic.
which heroes will still listen to this great record in 2023.
2024
It's 2022 ❤️ and it's never gets old
Just got a tattoo on my ribs that says "and I'll find strength in pain" such a powerful amazing song. Helped me so so much ❤️
Love how much more Marcus' voice was raw then it is now, still amazing though obviously!
Can't explain how much I love Mumford and Sons. Been a fan since '08.
all the years rap music was my world and then mumford & sons changed my mind and my ways. thank you for new perspectives!
omg these songs are so addictive
He can play the guitar the tambourine and sing all at the same time.... other famous singers can't even sing
you said it, "other singers" Marcus Mumford is not only a singer, he is a multi-instrumentalists
See how everything lays down on the Marketing of the musicians and not just the "music" itself.
... or play.
I really appreciate bands that can play live or anywhere else just as good as the can in their records.
These guys are amazing.
MUMFORD & SONS are the best music group I ever was listening to!!!!
It is so refreshing to see a band who actually enjoy to create and play ORIGINAL one of a kind music like Mumford. I saw them perform on the Grammys and got chills. This is amazing.
These are real artists. "artists" on the radio please take note...
Listening to Mumford & Sons it dawns on me that it has been a long time before today that I have seen talent or originality from performing artists.
The chorus is one of the most beautiful pieces written. I can never help but cry.
If you like music you have to love this wonderful song!!!
Saw the brit awards on german tv this week and after seeing the performance of mumford and sons and rihanna i can tell who of them has music in the heart and who has not....
So pure, raw, and genuine.....they are quickly becoming my favorites.
This is why I prefer folk rock over pop music.
Finally some frat music to listen to. A true song writer and fantastic musicians.
Wow, almost 6 years old. Time goes by fast.
8,by now!
And 9 by now!
On the way to 11 now!
Check again
I played this song over and over and I'll never get enough !
such an awesome band
best. song. ever. these bookshop videos should be combined on a dvd.
Rather than hunt them down, I'd like to find them and give them all a hug so that maybe they can find a little bit of joy in their lives.
everyone should start their day with this song. i think the world would be better.
Egal welches Lied man anmacht, alles klingt so unglaublich originell und genial, und die Stimme vom Sänger
This song is an allegory for "Plato's Cave". It was a conversation between Plato and Socrates about how we are all trapped by our own perception of reality.
Beautiful.
In the stormy sea of craptastic music that is out these days arises a bright and shining beacon of hope called Mumford and Son's
These guys are just simply amazing to me! I notice there are 48 people that I "dislike"
i love how all of them sing at least some part of every song and his base drum isnt even a drum at all!!! just epicness all over the place!!

Stands the test of time and truth
This was terrific, Jeffrey, and nicely displays the talents of Mumford & Sons. Thanks!
A friend and I drove 12 hours to see them in Memphis at the Beale St Music Festival...Amazing show, so worth the drive! I enjoyed every second of it!!!!
2020 anyone?
there is somthing so spiritual bout this music id be the last one to admit it but i feel so up lifted by u guys iv had my fair share of trials anc tribulations it is all so relevent its freaky thankx
Who from 2020?
Simply the best song ever written.
It's empty in the valley of your heart
The sun, it rises slowly as you walk
Away from all the fears and all the faults you've left behind
The harvest left no food for you to eat
You cannibal, you meat-eater, you see
But I have seen the same I know the shame in your defeat
I will hold on hope and I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again
'Cause I have other things to fill my time
You take what is yours and I'll take mine
Now let me at the truth, which will refresh my broken mind
So tie me to a post and block my ears
I can see widows and orphans through my tears
I know my call despite my faults and despite my growing fears
But I will hold on hope and I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again
So come out of your cave walking on your hands
And see the world hanging upside down
You can understand dependence when you know the maker's heart
So make your siren's call and sing all you want
I will not hear what you have to say
'Cause I need freedom now and I need to know how
To live my life as it's meant to be
And I will hold on hope and I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again
Thank God I saw them on the Grammys! Love, love, love 'em!!!! Come to Chicago
I miss fryersmuck :(
who was he?
somewhere on one of mumford and sons videos about a month ago i read a very touching short comment about some womans son loving their music and how she played their music at his funeral. this is the most touching thing i could think of and i think there is no higher respect then playing a song at your childs funeral.

That's what I thought!
This song speaks to my soul. I feel that there is great truth here. Thank you.
Is this bookstore in paris? I swear it looks familiar.
According to Google - Treadwell's Books in Covent Garden
Kevan Barr Now that I watched the video again they showed it in the beginning, thanks for your attention! :) I thought it was shakespeare's and company in Paris, they have a similiar room with a piano on the 2nd floor as well :)

January 2019,,, where have you gone Mumford and Sons,,, the world needs your music and heart there in...please come back...
This band should win every award ever given even out of music. Screw everyone else.
They have taken the root of what music is and combined it with their hearts and soul to produce a passionate song about life... There is nothing better...
Gawd - I cant take it - i just keep listening to it over and over and the bookshop version blows doors on the produced one
I cant get enough of this song and this sound right now - or perhaps for ever! Brilliant

Ahhhh Great Band! THE BEST GET WOKE GO BROKE EXAMPLE OF ALL TIME!!! 🙏🏻🇺🇸
I wonder if their eyes have been opened yet or if they're still 🧠 🌊. 🤔
The fact that they sing from the soul and with passion just makes them a million times better. you don't find much of that kind of passion with today's songs.

it's impossible not to stomp your foot to this song, even to this "softer" version
i love mumford and sons, simply because they are completely unique, and their music sounds as good live as it does studio recorded
i am in love with marcus mumford's voice.
