Why You Should Use The Parking Brake Every Time You Park Your Car
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 чер 2018
- In this video, I tell you why you should use the parking brake every time you park your car. Many people learn to use the parking brake when they are beginning to learn the basics of driving, but then stop using it as frequently when they become experienced drivers. With that being said, it is important for you to continue to use the parking brake every single time that you park your car!

WHY IS HE YELLING
So we can remember & it literally works I never forget
So you can hear better
Redbull and cocain
@@ROBBAKES310😂
To much caffeine
just by listening you shout makes my throat hurt.
This guy has help me to pass my driving test especially parallel parking. I watched a lot of his video and when I was ready I went to take a test at DMV my first try I got my drivers license. Thank you! Thank you!🙌🙌
I’m a driving instructor in LA. I will share this video…to my students to reinforce what I constantly try to instill in them. Great job, and thank you!
Thank you for knowing how to use the parking brake the right way!!! I hear so many times that you don't have to use this, primarily when the car is on level ground! YOU SHOULD USE IT 100% OF THE TIME!!!! I've been in a car that was parked before and the transmission failed twice. The car was in park on level ground and while we were sitting inside it began to roll on it's on, as the transmission failed. Another time was being in a car and going to park at a store and the car was put in park and then once the brake was let go the car rolled back. That's why I NEVER park a car without that on, because the transmission can fail and I've been in a car twice when this has happened. I notice those who've driven manual and then go to automatic are the only ones that do this and to me are the only people on the road that know how to drive properly lol.
Finally this video explained the parking brake. NO other video is explaining it's purpose.
“HEY EVERYYYYYYYYYBODDDDY!”
EyeeEEEMM HHEEEYYYUUURRR
This is good because I've always used it to make sure the car doesn't roll away, in case.
But, it actually does some good for the trans in an automatic too.
You would be a perfect sport commentator
No he wouldn't
Nah he won't
thank you. Such a great channel!!
You have a cartoon voice, that’s so cool lol
Alfredo Barajas agree. His voice is fun. Gets your attention.😅
Thank you, I learned something new.
How about automatic parking brake "Auto-Hold". When it's enabled and engaged when car is fully stopped do you still should use "regualr parking" break before putting transmission to "Park" and turn off the ignition? I heard that "Auto Hold" brake is not really engaging same modules as regular "Parking Brake" so I do wonder. Appreciate any info here.
I just put it in park usually, occasionally I forget to even do that
Comment on what about leaving parking break on in the winter all the time. Any downside to doing that.
Very useful... Thanks sir...
When you are not going to use a car for about a week or two, is it ok engage the parking brake for that long.
Thanks for the tip! I learned something new today! 💯🙌
Do I put my hand brake first then engage it to park mode or vice Versa? I have automatic Thanks
I do this and it still kind of rolls. I also forget sometimes to take it out. Idk I’m sure it’s hurting something 😬 I hope not.
Yes first apply the foot brake then shift to neutral’s engage parking brake shift to park then release foot brake that’s the proper way to to it it takes all the stress off the transmission the brakes should hold the car not the transmission
My grandpa always parks his car on the drive way. It’s at a slope and I always tell him to use the hand brake. He doesn’t believe that it won’t do any harm so each and every time he parks the car he just puts it in park and doesn’t use the hand brake. Even worse, when he is warming up the car, if the hand brake is on he would release the hand brake without putting his foot on the brake, causing the transmission to catch the weight of the car.
thats soo bad for the transmission😭
Broo transmissions are like 100 tiny gears
So shift to park then use E brake.
Then when pulling out disengage E brake then shift out of Park????
love the intro "HIIII EVERYBODY". i'm here because I drove with my E-brake on for 10-20seconds.. did I do any damage??
This dude is the Gary V of cars
Actually You should put the Neutral then parking break then put to parking position. Because If you don’t use the Neutral you still using the transmission to stop. And it’ will still screwing your transmission.
Is this true?
Thankyou :)
That is why there is resistance on the shifter when you go from park to drive.
Could you just imagine living next door to this guy. Hearing his voice through the wall would make your blood boil.
But on a serious note, it is a good informative video. So thank you for taking the time to create and upload.
Emergency brake is not necessary to be used every time. Car will not roll away. I use it only in a recline or upcline on a driveway or on a street, not leveled. Hence, the "emergency" brake.
How about in winter time? Some says that it will stuck on winter or not used for a long time.
Same question here
will anything happen to my car if drive with the parking brake on? I forgot to disengage it before driving.
when examiner said pull up the car in the side of the road in g2 test we just put your car on parking gear and hand brake or i can use parking lights will on plz
I just watched something that said not to use your e brake after driving because it will warp your rotors
If only it were that easy. I have a 2013 ford fusion and it has a button rather than a lever. I don't know what that means mechanically, but I do know that it's more expensive to repair or replace and whenever I turn it on, I'm stuck for at least a half hour trying to get it off.
You sound like Michael Scott when he does the funny voices...
most automatics will not let you remove the key unless it is in park
Next stop: Why you should not scream when making an informative UA-cam video!
😂
Its his thing for marketing
Love your voice man. Don’t listen to the idiots. I’m sure you’ve had offers for voice overs. Who’s laughing now? 😂 Great info by the way. Just logically thinking, I’ve been telling my family this for years. I just never confirmed it until now. 😎
we endorse this vdo!
Is that Dave from Alvin and the chipmunks?? 😂
So P before E-brake or the other way around ?
I park then e brake. When leaving I release brake and put it in drive
THANK YOU! Most people juat throw it in park even if its not on entire flat surface. Oh well
Ur voice is awesome
I was reversing out of a parking spot and thought I may have hit the parked car behind me, so I stopped the car, put the gear in Park, but forgot to engage the e-brake / parking brake, opened the door, stepped out of the car while the engine was still on, then the car moved a little bit forward because the ground was slightly inclined. I quickly jumped back in and engaged the e-brake / parking brake. Could I have caused damage to the parking pawl based on this one occurrence?
Yes. My friend had a very similar innicent and said shifting into park felt different. A week he parked on a slight incline and his paw have out. Luckily just some bumper damage
3 cars that I have bought used the owner didn't use the p-brake. Every time when I got the vehicle home and used the p-brake the stupid things locked up because in dis-use the cables ect rusted up . Boom brake job. Use your friggen parking brake people.
Good video I have the habit of putting e brake on to protect the transmission or gear box but do not see anyone else doing it. I try to tell them.
In an automatic transmission vehicle, when put in park, the parking pawl locks the transmission and part of the differential. Assuming it's a front wheel drive vehicle, the front wheels can still spin. The reason the car doesn't roll is because of the gear layout in the differential. If both front tires are lifted off the ground and one is spun clockwise, the other will spin counterclockwise. On the ground, that prevents the car from rolling.
ThankYou for your helpful message.
Maybe consider less repeating same point & decaf.
When parking an automatic car should you apply the handbrake before putting the car in park, or put the car in park and then apply the handbrake?
I'd say park first, brake next.
I put my car in Park first, then with my foot still on the brake pedal I set the parking brake.
@@jimmybravo3916 Just doing the same...
Yes first apply the foot brake then shift to neutral’s engage parking brake shift to park then release foot brake that’s the proper way to to it it takes all the stress off the transmission the brakes should hold the car not the transmission
Good job, thank you for this, truly helps. A calmer, slower voice would make this video perfect.
Its a car vid not a date
I was waiting to hear the OxiClean pitch
In countries that have winter climate good luck when it gets stuck 😂😂
Disengage you have to hit brakes then release the Parking brake
You should use the ebreak before u switch gear to park. Lol
What about the fact that it will mess up your transmission too? You left that part out
How?!!
How 🤔.its help the transmision stead not to lay everything on the transmission.
Maybe it's because I'm from the Midwest where it's all flat but I honestly thought the parking brake was just for piece of mind when working on your car. I've never used it in my day to day.
Me neither
This the Guy from Alvin and The Chipmunks
I tore the parking brake out of my truck and have been driving it for months and she’s still mint
He kinda reminds me of Super Dave
Never heard any of these issues ever occurring...
You sound a bit like John Fiedler
Gilbert Godfried lol
13 people never set theirs.
Id better use my parking brake so this guy stops yelling at me
From what I learned after doing hours of research is when you get to your destination your gear will obviously be in drive once you stop. At that point change your gear from drive to neutral first, apply your “e brake” then from that point change your gear from neutral to park. Take your foot off the brake because you have to have your foot on the brake to engage and select your gear then turn the engine off hop out and do what you gotta do. 😀
That's one second you'll never get back.
This guy should have his own talk show!! Peace From London. 🙏🙏
in automatic car
Why don’t you show how to use it or where it is
Some one bring him a halls
Most times seatbelts are the law lol 😅
don't use the e brake to park, because it will stretch the cable, and when you really need it, it won't work
It's called a parking brake for a reason lmfao
you remind me of Gary Vee
You forget to put your car in park but you remember to put the parking break. Make that makes sense.
If you're "parking gear is going out of whack then you need a new transmission. If your 1st gear is going out of whack then you need your new transmission.
It's not a parking break people. It's called an emergency break. In case of an emergency where your hydraulics fail Because let's say your ex cut your brake lines Unbenounced to you, Then you would use your emergency break which Can slow the car down via cables.
Every other country in the world calls it a parking brake. So do the DMVs of many US states. There's no such thing as an "emergency brake"
that's his bedroom voice!
Why is he shouting at me D:
Why’d you steal the chipmunks 😡
Next time turn the camera to what u explaining to us
Thank you
Yea just confused
Who the fuck leave their car without putting it in park? Like seriously how does that happen
Didn’t u steal the chipmunks
he sounds like he just had a car get put in the shop because someone didn't set the parking break
Sorry no your wrong you don’t need it every time yes you should at least use it every now and then so the cables don’t snap when you need it!!!
Why are you yelling bro
N why r u talking soo loud
Only driving lovers r here to gain profit in driving direction
The next one is you can use it for sex not make the car move lol
Wtf is with this comment section? Like they’ve never heard someone talk enthusiastically about anything.
why do you shout
Please just lower your voice!
Ppl be flaming this guy while he literally just shares his knowledge. Just turn the audio down on the video if you think he speaks too loud, not that difficult.
If you're not using your parking brake it's probably just because you're following some idiotic trend..
In my humble opinion people that don't use their parking brake or mindless idiots.
I've seen enough cars roll away and destroy other vehicles because they couldn't take that one second out of their life to put the brake on.
Volume Down
Doing it every time is nonsense. If you park in a garage overnight, it is fine not using it. If you are on the street then it is a safety issue and should be used.
Stop yelling please
What the hell
Press the button on the parking brake handle when engaging it
Unnecessary. You use the button to disengage the parking brake. If you're afraid of wear, don't be. You won't create enough friction and heat to generate wear. Think about how you use a ratchet, for example.
Sorry cannot listen to a guy YELLING!!!!!
Be a voice actor
