I really like the fact of how much equipment you've got there along with the time you spent on making a cup of coffee! People are in such a hurry these days, good to see there is someone making it slowly, with no rush...
Some recommendations for the grinder and espresso machine I'm using baratza vario grinder and for my espresso machine is Le marzocco linea mini. It's a very good lifetime machine for you coffee needs
The easy sad way: buy rosted powdered coffee available at any market, boil and mix with soy milk (also available at markets) ...only the coffe won't be likely 1/5 as good as this! Another go: roasted coffee beans, pulse in a food processor, boil and add soy milk. If you feeling like you could push even further: green coffee beans, roast them at home, same processes above.
go to goodwill and get a used espresso machine. it will probably only have one grouphead (the espresso spout thingy) though. you can easily find one on ebay too. i’m sure if you really wanted to you could buy a cheap roaster online as well. secondly, whole bean coffee is not hard to find at all. head to your local grocery store for pre-roasted, or go online for a shipment of green(not sure how common green coffee is at the store). a simple grinder, also easy to find used if you look hard enough online or at a thrift shop, with settings as to how thick you want your grinds coming out (as espresso is very very finely ground) will likely not be too expensive either. good luck if you’re actually interested and for anyone dropping by to see answers, good luck to you too! :^)
Here's my experience : I use a mokapot (+/- $20), a low cost grinder (less than $50), home made ice cube, and Parahyangan roasted coffee bean (+/- $15 / kg) I can make ice latte for sale, no need to use high end tools.
At first I was like: pshhh, 9 minutes? I'm just going to skip the roasting process. I was so wrong. legit mesmerized and watched the full thing. what is this sorcery? Amazing video btw.
That's exactly how I felt, mesmerized. Such good videos and 'Peaceful Cuisine' is the most appropriate name for this channel. I feel so relaxed watching this, who would have thought!?? It's such good energy, peaceful, relaxing and the result must be absolutely delicious! I've learnt a lot from this video: roasting coffee beans, the patience... very meditative, just lovely. Final touch that got my heart was the metal straw, of course it makes total sense but I had never seen one. For all of this, I thank you.
They're coffee equipment I'm sure you can buy in stores or online, it may be costly sometimes but I don't see why it could be illegal. My parents own a lot of quality kitchen equipment, too :)
Japan has this unspoken rule where if you start being loud, it'll be slightly frowned upon. It goes even worse for eating in public that is not a place to eat in.

5:52 - 6:02 the way this is shot, and the beautiful hum of the machine, makes this shot feel like the opening scene of a movie. Love it. I feel like I'd put in a score that could match that hum, and continue it as the rest of the coffee making unfolds, and it turns into a mellow, moody track, leading to the rest of the film.
I've been on a video watching marathon on this channel for the last three days. I am ASTOUNDED by the self sufficiency and hands on approach you seem to have to everything! Pottery, construction, cooking, and now you're pretty much a barista! WHY MUST YOU MAKE ME FEEL SO UNTALENTED. Your recipes look delicious, and I am learning a great deal- maybe in part because you let the food do the talking for you, instead of trying to convince people of what they should do! Keep up the amazing work, and always feel good about how much you are doing with your life!
I may sound obnoxious but the beans probably had to degas for at least a week before using them. It’s usually best to do that after they are freshly roasted. Not sure if he just went ahead anyways, not sure if it matters since he’s making a latte, or he just used video editing magic to fast forward a few days.
wow. I've never actually seen coffee beans being roasted before. I always just kinda assumed they laid them all out on a baking sheet and... put them in the oven
I really love you and your channel. Minimalistic living and not many materials to cook with make me feel very happy. And the eco aspect and healthy foods are also a very big plus. Because of you I know more recipes I can make without for example sugar. Thank you very much making videos for us!
Minimalistic? This guy has tools for everything. He even has something to keep your avocado from turning mushy. No doubt, his stile is marvelous, but really minimalistic? Nah...

Your very knowledgeable. As a barista, at a local coffee chain, even I didnt know about "1 crack" or "second". How long did it take you to roast your beans?
A lot of specialist coffee roasted within Europe will not pass 2nd crack, but will usually have a development time following the first. Companies such as Starbucks will roast past the second crack, which pulls a lot of flavour within the coffee and makes it taste charred or burned. You can tell by the visible oils left in the hoppers when in a store. I wouldn't recommend doing this yourself if you try this at home, as like I said the flavours will be pretty bad

HeckYeahImShort It was sweetened with maple syrup.

yes. Also maple syrup is expensive it becomes so little when it is processed. A barrel full of maple syrup becomes the size of a cup when processed.
Any sweetener is fine, just add to your taste and make sure it doesnt kill you.
