Absolutely love my 690. Its not a highway bike, but get it in the mountain twisties, and its a demon. I agree with you on the peg positions, and screen issue. I think its obvious it should be hinged. The foot position is much better with the optional rear sets.
As it seems like we're on a KTM marathon I'm crossing my fingers to see the new superduke next🤞🏽

Hi, great review. I have one, and I just add a good windshield, and a smoked one. Then two problems less. No wind problem any longer, and I can see the tft without troubles, as the light of the sun doesn't affect it. And of course, I have modified the action of the two pedals. It's quite easy. Thanks a lot for this review.
One gripe about the video. Every acceleration you did, you swapped to the vehicle mounted DSLR and I didn't get to see that. :(

Great Review. I think about getting the Duke 690 as a temporary bike until the 790 ADV is released. Still not sure tho if 390 or 690... What do you think about longer tours (2-5h). I guess the 690 is a bit more comfortable, right? (But both suck with the wind)

Please ride the rebel 500. I know it isn’t your style. But I would like your opinion on the redesign
I own a 2016 690 duke which is the same as the 2018. The track pack option is great to have it gives you three modes and you can turn off ABS and traction control. The TFT you kinda get used to leaning to see it.Biggest complaints I have are.
Wind
Not very much top end tops,out at 118mph
Kickstand sucks bad a little wind and the bike tries to fall over.
Sounds like a dirt bike even with the Akro TI exhaust
Definitely not for highway riding.
compared to the monster 797 you've ridden, what would you recommend chase? ktm 690 or monster 797?

I think you have to find some twisties. That bike is absolutely build for that kind of bike!
I had a new 690 supermoto back in about 2010 I think, with the ugly beak front mudguard / light unit. Loved it, but it did run out of puff so quickly, and I had to tighten all the bolts once a month due to the single cylinder shaking the whole bike to pieces. Great fun though...😆

Chase, Dude! You have to first ride a Honda CBR650F or CB650F. They both look amazing and I'm curious of your opinion about how they ride and if they'd be a first bike option in the same league as the fz-07.

My bike too! But mine is a 2017 , which is what I thought Chase tested but he says 2018. So far only one time was the display hard to see for me, but it is directly related to sun position relative to the display. I use it as a commuter but my highway portion is only about 8 miles ~80 MPH. Chase is right as it can wear you out after bit, but not so much that my remaining 4 miles to the house somehow turns into 20 miles of back road twisties. So light, so nimble, what a joy.

I just bought a 2017 690 Duke R a couple of months back. The rearsets on the R totally transform the riding position and solve the nasty rear brake and shift lever positions.
I have a 2013 690R. It's an awesome bike. Also one of the funniest track bikes I have ever ridden. Braking power and corner entry speed is just out of this world..
How can the 790 be the replacement for the 690 if the 790 has a twin cylinder engine?
I’m 6’ 5” and I fit really nice on the bike . It’s fairly comfortable
So im 5'5"....so I do a bit of highway driving to school, like 10 miles or so, but mostly city type driving...so should I go with the 390, 690, or any other recommendations? As long as its a naked bike, then Im cool with it

I think I would go with the 390. Most of my riding would be in town and a short trip (8 miles) to work on a highway.

NEED OPNIONS.
I’m thinking of getting this bike for my first bike. I grew up riding dirt bikes and have a calling for a sport. It’s been years since I have been on a motorcycle but I feel the reckluse clutch , good seat height, I’m 5,10 , and not to mention the easy and intermediate options of power. I know that my right hand is the most important tool on the bike. I am 22 and beginning the starting safety course soon. I feel I can handle it but have gotten negative feedback. Please give me your feedback.

U should get 650-700cc, Cause they have a lot of torque so u dont get bored like u would on a 250-500cc

Chase you should really buy different gloves. the ones you are wearing won´t protect you nearly enough if you ever go down.

It has the Same motor in it as the 690 enduro/sm. Of course its going to vibrate, Its essentially a big dirtbike motor.
Georgia Property Depot no it doesnt. It got reworked. The engine now puts out 74HP, revs higher and they put a second balance shaft on it. The 2017/18 701 has the same engine. You really feel the difference with the vibration (but its still vibrating alot)
