With their troubles seemingly behind them the family settles into their third Thanksgiving.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A Woody Allen Manhattan mosaic, Hannah and Her Sisters concerns the lives, loves, and infidelities among a tightly-knit artistic clan. Hannah (Mia Farrow) regularly meets with her sisters Holly (Dianne Wiest) and Lee (Barbara Hershey) to discuss the week's events. It's what they don't always tell each other that forms the film's various subplots. Hannah is married to accountant and financial planner Elliot (Michael Caine), who carries a torch for Lee, who in turn lives with pompous Soho artist Frederick (Max Von Sydow). Meanwhile, Holly, a neurotic actress and eternal loser in love, dates TV producer Mickey (Allen), who used to be married to Hannah and spends most of the film convinced that he's about to die. Appearing in supporting parts are Lloyd Nolan and Maureen O'Sullivan (Farrow's real mom), as the eternally bickering husband-and-wife acting team who are the parents of Hannah and her sisters. The film begins and ends during the family's traditional Thanksgiving dinner, filmed in Farrow's actual New York apartment. Unbilled cameos are contributed by Sam Waterston as one of Wiest's brief amours and Tony Roberts as one of Allen's friends. Hannah and Her Sisters collected Oscars for Michael Caine, Dianne Wiest, and Woody Allen's screenplay.

To see Mia Farrow in that blue dress in the doorway while "Isn't It Romantic" is playing... she is really something memorable.
And let me not forget to say that the last line in this film was a brilliant surprise. The perfect cap to Woody's best movie.
Maybe, Allen's best film.

Holy cow! I didn't know Woody Allen could be romantic in his movies. lol
I would have loved to have Woody end this film with Moonlight Serenade by Glenn Miller ... the opening with Holly saying i am pregnant and 0:14 seconds into it, black then you see the producers Jack Rollins and Charles Joffee, it would have been epic ... when the tune ends and the credits are still rolling, play Ella Fitzgerald's version

@@AA-sn9lz Well he did marry Mia's daughter, but not HIS daughter. I happen to be a supporter of Woody BTW. Soon Yi was adopted by Mia Farrow and Andre Previn.
@@m.e.d.7997 yup. And contrary to popular belief, no he did not know her from before. He met her for the first time when she was 19.
@@AA-sn9lz Check IMDb; Soon-Yi was IN THIS MOVIE filmed in 1986 (bit part - blink and you'll miss her). She was 16, and Mia and Woody had already been seeing each other for 6 years. And yes, Woody had met ALL of Mia's children by then. Soon-Yi, Fletcher Previn, and Moses Farrow were all in this movie. Moses is the short, dark-haired kid with glasses who answers the door in this clip. Y'know, it's easier to make a convincing argument when you don't misstate the facts.

Is the ending supposed to be an allusion to her cheating? We learned earlier that Mickey is infertile; are we to assume that she slept with someone else, or he was improperly diagnosed?
Mickey isn't infertile, he has a low sperm count. It might not be as easy but he could still get Holly pregnant.
No. Throughout the film, Mickey is depressed at his inability to prove God's existence, so much so that he botched a suicide. It wasn't until he finally got over that, he was able to marry again. This scene in a small way prove to Mickey God does exist.
