  • The second video in the series covering the top end rebuild of Yamaha's infamous TDR250. This episode covers the inspection & diagnosis of failure of the old power-valves & the full, step by step installation of the new Genuine Yamaha power-valves, bushes and all related seals.
The video includes all specifications & torque settings required to complete the task in line with Yamaha's factory workshop manual.
A number of other Yamaha engines of this era were also equipped with YPVS and the procedures covered in this video will also apply to the Power-valve replacement on those models too (though you will need to obtain the specific workshop manual for your bike for specifications and torque settings as these may differ slightly to the TDR).
The next video in this series covers installing the rebuilt barrels over the pistons & onto the crankcase.
Should you have any questions or require any further info then please just comment below and I'll do my best to get back to you as soon as I can.

Brilliant; just putting together a TZR250 and this is exactly the same. Many thanks.

hey thanks for the video. You helped me solve my issue for my r1-z (tzr engine) and saved me so much time. The mechanic who rebuilt the engine for it put the oil seals around the wrong way (sprayed oil out the sides of the barrels), and I never would have realised without watching this. Can't wait to experience the bike while running optimally. Much thanks.

Hello Andy! I have to change the seals and o'ring to the power valves of my tdr 250! Can the valves be disassembled without disassembling the cylinders?

I don't think so - there isn't enough clearance between the cylinders unfortunately.
      Good Luck
