- I've ended up with a stunningly good condition 1967 Ludwig Super Classic "Ringo kit". Great, right? Wrong. This is exactly the kind of drum set that I'm going to grow really attached to, and I really should be selling it. I mean, I am selling it. I'm not keeping it. I'm not. Please buy it.
Anyways, let's set it up and play it just for one video...

Don't you dare selling this kit! Believe me, you'll regret it. I have a black oyster set (20-12-14) and it will stay with me as long as i'm on this planet. You simply need this sound in your drum arsenal
I have reacquired a 1965 Super classic in black diamond pearl, and am absolutely in love with them. My very first drum set was a 1965 super classic in red sparkle. I love them so much, I found matching 14x14 and 8x12 toms with very close serial numbers to add to it!
Beauty!!
I had two vintage Black Oyster kits and sold them both. One was a club date set and the other was in sizes 20, 12, 14. I don't think I will miss them too much as long as I keep my 65 Champagne Sparkle (see my latest video on that) and I just didn't need 3 kits that were all pretty similar! Suffice to say I got a pretty penny for them as well.
I've got a mint 1964 DownBeat kit in silver sparkle with Nickel over brass hardware with 1400 Ludwig cymbal stands and a 1123 flat base hi hat stand. My snare is a 5.5x14" that was date stamped on Dec. 4th 1963. It has a very low serial # . This set is a keeper.
Killer!
Whoa love Ludwig
In that catalog shot, a few pages away, I have the champagne sparkle Hollywood kit. Mint, '69 clear maple interiors, all new for '69 Atlas hardware. Still just the perfect all around set of drums. They will be with me 'till the end. Those are great drums you have there!
Awesome! If you have a video of that beauty feel free to link it.
That kit looks and sounds amazing. I hope you didn’t sell it.
Cudos to u mate. Best, please buy this 'Ringo' set I've ever seen. But rim kickers, stay away please.🍻
Lovely kit! What is the kick drum “treatment” here? Looks like a Powerstroke on the batter side, and an Emperor on the front? Anything inside the drum? Thanks!
I own a 1965 all original Marine white pearl kit with 14" snare, 12 & 13" rack toms & 16" floor tom, 22" bass in mint condition, along with a 1967 blue sparkle kit with the same drum sizes and original Avedis and Paiste cymbals and hats, also in great condition, and I would not sell these kits. They will only grow in value. And they sound great! While your price may seem high to some, that kit is worth it. If I had the extra cash burning a hole in my wallet, I would buy your kit. I hope to add a kit like this to my Ludwig collection in the future.
i have the same series 1967 blue sparkle, everything original, stands, hi hat, pedel, supraphonic snare, orignal paiste hi hats
Beautiful looking and sounding kit(nice tuning). And nice playing! Thanks for sharing and Happy Drumming!!!
EDIT: If it's still for sale I'd be happy to share this video 😃
Thanks so much! Yep still for sale - post away!
@@ColeParamore My pleasure!
I have the same kit but in champagne sparkle. I will NEVER sell them! Sound soooo good.
Me too! Mine's a '66
I also have a 66 kit in the same sparkle.
Cole, you should attach this video to your Reverb listing.
Totally right! Doing that now.
Keep it!
I had this exact kit circa 1965 and got rid of except for the supraphonic snare. I still kick myself for doing that.
My set is the Blue/Olive Badge 1970 Super classic fab 3 in black diamond pearl - worth around $3000 ... I also have the Original hardware and cymbals - I wont sell
Super cool! Sounds like a keeper for sure.
Have the same kit only difference is the bass drum is from the early 60’s club date 22”I don’t know if that’s the way it came..keep that drum kit.you’ll never find a nother one like it.
What’s the snare..?
Beautiful drums.
I have a 1967 in these, in a blue oyster pearl, with a Supraphonic snare.
That was a pewter Copperphonic if I remember correctly.
is this a Maple 3 ply shell with re-rings?
I just found your listing and I have to say that they are craaaazy expensive and I would never pay that much for a set of drums!!! 😜
For real though, cool kit, hope you can find the right buyer! I love Ludwig's
Edit: also yes, document that thing while you have it!
Ha! Yep I've gotten about equal number of responses of "way too expensive" and "totally fair price, good luck selling", and luckily all it takes it one buyer. Thanks for watching!
That snare would sound even better tuned up higher
beautiful drums:) so how much was this kit priced? I'm also asking because I have the opportunity to buy a 1968 Ludwig in white marine pearl with all original hardware (kick pedal, hi hat, ride and crash stand) and a 66 supraphonic along with 50's and 60s A zildjian cymbals (16'' hihat from 57-59 small stamp; 19'' ride and 18'' crash). I could have everything for 5k $...fair price? I'm new to the vintage drums world and would appreciate any suggestion:) thanks in advance!
ps. they sound absolutely fantastic and are in great condition!
This one was originally priced at around 4k. Tough to say on the '68 you have the chance to buy - I think the price is probably fair but not an amazing deal. Obviously you're getting much more than just the 3 piece I was selling with the snare, hardware, cymbals, etc, but a big part of the value for this kit is specifically that it's a "Ringo" finish (black oyster pearl). That said, if the one you're looking at is in really good condition, that's probably still not a bad deal, though I'd still probably offer less.
@@ColeParamore thank you for the fast reply!
Where can I find out about the price and purchasing this kit?
You can find the listing and details here: reverb.com/item/48661904-ludwig-super-classic-3-piece-drum-set-1967-black-oyster-pearl but if you're interested reach out to me directly!
The kit rocks but in this economy, I can't justify the cost but good luck.
Hello ….I’m interested, looking for a Ringo kit for very long time. What is the asking price. Thank you, Alfredo from Ontario Canada.
Sorry Alfredo, it's already sold! For Ringo kits through always check with Donn Bennett. Tell him I sent you!
My main kit was a '65 Blue Oyster Pearl Super Classic. Played them my whole life up till 7-8 years ago. The problem with these kits are.. they are of that time and era. I don't play much classic rock anymore.. The tone doesn't lend itself well to other types of newer, modern funky music very well. And I felt they fell out of tune much too easily.. I moved on to Yamaha RCs and DW collectors. Still play my '65 Supraphonic snare though.
What type of shells? 3 ply maple poplar mahogany/ 6 ply maple??
That era, 3 play mahogany (outside for wraps to glue better) poplar/maple on the i side usually. Sometimes mahogany on the inside but under white paint. Maple reinforcement hoops. The 6 ply did not come about until about 76/77
@@MichaelWashingtonAE Thanks!
Hey!! Is this kit still available?
It has gone on to its next home - thanks!
Ok, let's put it straight, you need the money.
Otherwise you'd be selling the other kit and bringing this beauty both at gigs, and have every other drummer in the audience drooling on it, and into recording sudio and having the studio and production guys praising it (I know because I own 4 myself).
4?? Crazy! I’d love to see some videos of them if you make any. If I’m being 100% honest, it would be a harder decision if they were WMP.
What’s the snare..?
Snare he played is a 14x6,5 pewter Copperphonic
You will regret sellling the Ludwigs. My first drum set was a 57' Ludwig and like a dumb young buck I later sold them. Big mistake.
Possibly. This is far from my first drum set and I've made a profit, someone else is enjoying them, and I've been able to invest in other areas of life. No regrets so far.
Document the kit.. oh yeah, I think so ;)
Still have them?
They've moved on!
So $5K-$7K?
Dont sell it. It will only increase in value, so that's a win-win situation.
mine is 64
Perfect year!
You should of kept that kit :(
Hoping the next owner is able to play and appreciate it more!
Dude wtf. Why would you sell this?
Asking myself the same thing. 😅
@@ColeParamore you‘re weird.
Yea.thease are hard to come by.i’v got the same set.the only thing is the bass drum is a club date doesn’t match the kit.keep the drum kit.your regret it.
Or you could just give it to me.
Don't sell it. I have two. 64 and 66.
Man.... You make no sense.. If you have a great kit or two and don´t play ithem.... So... why did you buy them?
lol Roger I’m glad you don’t have this problem.
No i don't. I have a Yamaha 9000 kit and will keep it.
