I cannot believe how fast the grass has grown, it seems like Aaron just seeded it, it looks so green and filled in already. Your property is beautiful and you should be so proud of what you have accomplished. I cannot wait to see it in a few years time with all the beautiful trees and shrubs. Laura you amaze me everyday.
I had the VERY Same reaction in the last 10-15 seconds of the video. They (nor their neighbors) will be living in a dust bowl next spring! What a HUGE and important change...as they say, soil is modest and prefers to be covered :D
Anyone else want to stay with Laura while she waters and goes about the day? Your positive attitude and energy makes me wanna watch everything you do 🤗🌱
Hello, I'm new to your channel. I've got to hand it to you for transformation your property so beautifully. I've been gardening for 25 plus years and I still cannot get enough gardening. The love of your community, parents, and fans brings me to tears. To be able to capture such an audience is one thing, but keeping them with your warm hearted and genuine expression is absolutely the key to unlocking every person heart.
Yep it takes 3 years for shrubs and trees to get going. Heard this from a seasoned gardener: First year sleep, Second year creep, Third year leap!! It’s worth the wait!🌲🌳. Love watching you Laura! You motivate me!!
As usual an absolute pleasure watching your beautiful new property develop. I love your idea of having your roses and peonies scattered thought the garden as a part of the landscape rather than in lines. It's going to be absolutely breathtaking. Can't wait. You honestly have inspired me so much in my garden and for that I'm truly greatful 💓💓💓🌿
I bought a Gingko tree for my mother in the 1960s. (It was in memory of her father.) It is planted in Macon, GA, so it is very tolerant. The fall leaves are like gold coins! I must remember to get my brother-in-law to stop by and take a picture of it now. I know you will love yours. Ginkgos are slow growers.
The Haywire Cypress Trees will be very valuable assets to your garden. Imagine cutting segments for beautiful Christmas floral arrangements. The Ginkgo Tree is very pretty and I love the yellow leaves for Autumn. Thank you for sharing.
You talked about it taking maybe 3 years to see significant growth on the cypress and it made me think. I was just rewatching your video on planting the “Bloomerang Lilac” as I just planted one for my mother in law. It was an amazing resource! What about doing a video of some things you’ve planted in the past say 3-5 years so we can see their progress and structure changes. Like how they filled a space, or if they are doing well in that space. Maybe have viewers suggest a particular plant, then pick randomly which ones you feature and do a before and after. Could be a great winter video. I mean it’s not like you have anything else going on (jk) 🤣 Just a thought…otherwise how’s the Bloomerang looking?
Yes it would be good to see how each shrub or tree is getting on, I’m always trying to look in the background to see how the red pointe maples are doing
The “South Garden” has made a 360 in such a short time. I am in awe @ the process y’all have made this season with all the infrastructure, hard scape (driveway/raised beds/fencing/shed), grass, mulch, & plantings.
Those little lime punch hydrangeas along the driveway are STUNNING! Seeing them almost makes me glad the other ones didn't survive there. That color is so deep and vivid, never seen a hydrangea with that vibrant of a colour!
What do you think about adding some large stone/boulders into the planting area in the South Garden? I think they might add some really neat architectural interest. Just a thought!
Some "sittin' on" rocks. I just watched a landscape designer's video on adding a focal point to draw one into the garden and a bench is all he needed in his own hillside garden to move people up the path.
So, just so you know, you can never stop doing this because I can’t wait to see this in 10 years. I can’t believe how much you have already gotten planted in the new space.
What a fabulous view you’ve given the neighbor behind where the high tunnels were! Aren’t they the same folks that have the big trees that you like so much? Nice to share the views! ( for now) till the big deciduous trees are planted.
I love the haywire cypress. It is definitely going to be on my next year’s plans for my newly purchased property. My husband says you’re a bad influence on me Laura. 😁 With your new corner garden where the gravel will be removed. I would put a beautiful bench so you can sit and admire the wonderful new area. Also Aaron could get some rest from all that running.
I would venture to guess Laura is an influence on ALL of us, but I wouldn’t necessarily call it “bad.” Maybe inspirational? She’s always looking for new adjectives lol! I do like the bench idea! 😊
I was just in western Michigan this weekend where the PW garden is-would love to go visit if possible. I love that Gingko-great size because I don’t need any more shade. 😊
I had your video playing in the background as I was doing some work today & was so surprised to hear you mention my hometown! Thank you for all of the inspiration you provide in my own garden. Hoping Samantha is on the mend. Sending love from Michigan!
Those cypress are so neat. I can't wait to see all these things grow and fill in, A water feature somewhere in the new property would add so much; don't you think?? 😉😉😉
Ooh that skinny fit Gingko is something I wrote down on my list! We are doing a complete backyard overhaul next summer and it will be perfect! I would have never had the confidence to take on a project like we are planning but with the wealth of knowledge you share it has given me the confidence to just go for it!
Ginkgo trees are gorgeous. In our are the Korean senior women gather the leaves that drop every fall and ferment them. I’m not sure how that process works but In one of my conversations they said it was good for memory. Good luck on your project!
I been keeping notes/lists too!! Thank you for such helpful info. I'm in Santa Fe, New Mexico (USA) Zone 6b. I'm itching to plant a privacy screen with arborvitrae!!
So happy seeing you plant a Ginko. I’m very interested in the type you planted, I’ve never heard of one so small, our Ginko is massive. I’m really enjoying watching your gardens grow and look forward to them maturing over the years! Your doing an awesome job!
Wow, if this time last year you could have spun around to see what you were going to accomplish in one season I think it would have blown your mind. It's looking amazing! Love the new additions of the Ginko tree and haywire shrubs. I can only imagine just how different it will look a year from now. A year from now the Hartley will be complete as well!!! Thats just crazy and wonderful.
Yessss!!! Gingko trees aren't talked about enough. The fall color is gorgeous and the leaf structure is so unique and pretty. If anyone is in the DC area, to see older mature gingkos in the fall you should visit the Library of Congress's Jefferson building behind the Capitol. The show is worth it.
@@angelaengler2387 Do it! You won't be sorry. If you can't make it in the fall, it's worth a visit anytime of the year. They really treasure the trees on Capitol Hill. Almost all trees are labeled so you can tell what specimen they are and what year they were planted. There's a secret grotto you can peak into that's super old near the Capitol. And if it's too chilly on the day you visit there are countless museums and galleries within walking distance with free admittance. You can even attend a free tour of the Library of Congress.
Good morning Laura and Greetings from Windermere, Florida zone 9b 🇺🇲 I love the new additions and I think you are so wise in adding mulch from the free source. Even if you continue doing it for a few years to build up your organic growth. Happy Gardening Weekend everyone 👩🌾👍💚
Laura, I just enjoy your new property so much! I get such a cozy inviting feeling when I watch you plant all the beautiful things that you are adding. I miss living in the country, if that were mine I would walk on those grass pathways everyday with pure enjoyment. I love those new evergreens from PW! 🍂
Those Little Lime Punch in the background- WOW! They are looking so gorgeous that I didn’t hear a word you said in the whole beginning of the video. 😆 I 100% need to find one for myself next spring
First of- the grass looks so green and healthy, just beautiful. The bushes/ trees not sure what they are- they have the orange leaves, are just gorgeous. Everything is looking so pretty!
More overhead drone shots please! You really can see how your plan is coming together with them. Love all the color you popped in. Can almost picture the tag football games in your 10 ish year plan out on that green ocean of grass. So pretty. Thanks for sharing
The entire time you were up by the house I could not take my eyes off the line of hydrangeas. They are absolutely gorgeous. They just took my breath away.
I love the fact I was here to watch the development of your new land . I can not wait to see how the plants grow !!! Thank You for for your hard work and videos.
I just love watching your videos in the morning when I have my 1st cup of coffee for the day. It’s just sets up my mood for the rest of the day. I so appreciate you and what you share with us!
The space is looking fantastic! I can’t believe how much the space has changed over this growing season. You guys have planted a lot and once we see an over view is when we realize how much you have planted. The grassy areas really highlight the gardens. You have done so much this year and with having a newborn and 3 year old your super woman!! I know you have help but it takes lots of energy to do all that planting. You are the ever ready rabbit!! You also are an awesome mother and your priorities are in the right place. May God bless both you and Aaron.
The ginkgo in fall…wow! I’ll definitely keep checking for availability. I’d love the cypress if it maintained the ball shape. That would be a fun addition.
Hi Laura and Aaron. Besides being informative and sharing your knowledge, you and your family are a delight to watch... Thank you for being entertaining as well. Do you have hummingbirds in you area? Have you ever thought of having a section of your South Garden planted for them? With so much of the natural habitat being destroyed in every state it would be great for them to have some plants geared strictly for their unique needs. It could be a learning opportunity for the children as well. Thank you for sharing your family with all of us. D.
Could you create your secret garden in that space? A few arches, trellises and plants as you go into-come out of the orchard. It would give you a garden "room" that you've wanted. Whatever you do, it will be beautiful. Really enjoying seeing these new spaces come alive.
I can’t wait till she starts putting some statues and benches and fountains oh my God it’s going to be fabulous can we get a glimpse of the garden shed anytime soon it may be a little peek of the Hartley it may not be ready but we still love to see it to thank you for sharing makes my coffee taste extra good
My dad had a Ginko tree in his allotment garden and he loved it so much. And you are in for a treat, They are so gorgeous!! He sadly passed away last year. But wen spring comes around, I’m planting a ginkgo in my garden, to remember him by. ♥️♥️♥️
The progress you have made on the new property is simply astounding! Can you please do an “update” video that shows the progress from when you first started the infrastructure to now? With some drone footage to really see the transformation, Aaron? The more the grass fills in the more dramatic the changes seem. So exciting!
Such unique and beautiful trees! Also, I continue to be impressed with how much you've transformed your property in just a few months into a cohesive, gorgeous Eden.
I slept 17 (+) hrs after working a week.. icu nursing, 12hr night shifts.. I missed this this morning but it was the first thing I sought out once my eyes opened.. ok, the second thing.. coffee ☕️ was the first because I was feeling like I got run over by that truck there that delivered the tree chips! Thank you for sharing Laura & Aaron! 😊♥️ I love the space.. it gives me a calmness inside.
I absolutely love what you planted today. Those evergreens are gorgeous. I love the wild look they have. The ginkgo is definitely one of my favorites. I need that for my garden. Have a wonderful weekend. Hope Samantha Grace is better. God bless. 👏🏻💕👏🏻
Ooh, Ginkgo, zone 3? YES! I can plant that in my zone 3, if I can find it, fantastic that it's ONLY 15 inches wide. WOW! The south garden is looking beautiful, even though it's only been planted this year everything is growing wonderfully.
I am now going to buy ginkgo- the perfect tree for a small blank space I have in my garden and what a stunning colour in Autumn. Thank you 😊 I hope Samantha is feeling better 💗
We have them in planters down town and when they bare fruit it is a messy sight. People walk through the much right into the stores. Does this variety bare fruit. The color is beautiful but I wouldn't have one because of the fruit. It gets mushy..
@@dottietefelski4178 Gingkos are either "female" or "male". The females carry the seeds and the males produce pollen. Sometimes you'll hear that you have to plant a male and female near each other (they have to "see" each other) for the purpose of creating viable gingkos seeds for planting. If you can find a male, you won't have the seeds but it can be hard to tell before they reach a certain age. I'm not sure about newer cultivars.
You have done so much to the South garden! It is looking so beautiful, I can’t wait to see everything “grow up.” You have such a talent and I am thankful you share it with all of us!
Good evening 😊🤚🇵🇭 i love the orange color of your plants behind you 🍁🍁🍁 and i love your new green plants tonight 🌲🌲🌲and Ms.Laura, you are so lucky that your husband is very supportive on everything you do 💙👫
I cant believe how excited I get with each new planting....then I think of Christmas lighting....completed Hartley.....lots of green grass....I look forward to each episode just to see what "we're" doing next!! Thank you so much for sharing you knowledge and your family. 💚
What a beautiful addition..the ginkgo! Have always loved the leaf shape and colors throughout the year. We have found and planted a few new additions to our new home.. with the cost of trees and shrubs it will be several years to fill in.. A question ...what happened to the bears breeches? Did it survive the winter and if so how has it done. We had one in our previous yard and it was stunning, but the weather was more of a zone 7 or 8. Loved the plant so I was wondering if it lived. Thank you for planting all the different plants and trees. We all can dream through your garden.
I purchased the Dwarf Jade Butterfly Gingko this summer. It is slow growing and hope I can keep it on the smaller side as I didn’t want a full size Gingko either. Love that they came up with a narrow growing one to tuck into the landscape. Thanks for sharing your wonderful and educational videos with us!
So this may be premature, but I'm already imagining how the holiday light display is going to expand! And how fun it would be to drive or walk through in the evenings. Oh, and those are lovely new trees and shrubs, Laura!! 😆
I'm amazed every time I see how Laura is able to quickly plant. Her experience along with the nice soil helps. :) I'm from Illinois and have clay & partially rocky soil that I have to dig through...and can't always put that soil back to cover the plant roots. Have to use bagged soil.
Not gonna lie, I laughed out loud when Laura couldn't remember the name "heavy duty tip"...LOL I mean, she rattles off the most bizarre names CONSTANTLY, and she struggles to remember the one name that actually makes sense...heehee So grateful for all I've learned from this channel, and I still can't remember 90% of the plants I have actually planted in my own garden.
Hi Loria and Aaron, Good information video. I really love those red/orange brushes behind Loria in the video. Please try to plant more. That pop of color looks great. B)
Oh I do so enjoy these videos. I am amazed as the south garden takes shape. You have done a spectacular job. The gingko is beautiful. A wall of those pillars would be beautiful too. Take care and have a blessed day!! Hope Samantha Grace is over her ear infection.
I wholeheartedly agree about heavy on the evergreens in the spaces. Just envision the snow languishing on the branches when it falls. I see it and oh how beautifully landscaped the view is!
Finally, something beautiful with fall colors that I can have in my zone!? 🤩 I need to find a gingko! Even if I just keep it in a large pot for a while- currently in a temporary home and I dont wanna plant something so beautiful to just leave it behind!
LOVE all the inspiration and plant knowledge!!! THANK YOU to you and Aaron for grabbing hold of your gifts and sharing in such a healthy way!!! My garden wouldn't be what it is without you guys!!
My wife & I Love your videos! (You mentioned you were going to expand your planting area, to include the area around the well head for the south property. Just a suggestion, you may want to leave an access to the well head for the trucks that would come to do maintenance on the well. Some of the well maintenance trucks can be rather large and heavy.) You have given us lots of inspiration to get our land developed. Aaron, thanks for your insite about putting in the infrastructure first (the big picture) then work on the planting and other hardscapes. We enjoy your enthusiasm and excitement in all you do. We're excited to see each project as they mature. Thanks again for your wonderful videos.
Everything looks great Laura! I would love to find that kind of ginkgo here but the ones they bring are getting huge! The mulch only steals nitrogen if you mix it in the soil. Not when you lay it on top. Never had a problem with that. You will see a lot of mushrooms tho next year when it start decomposing. Especially sting horn mushrooms but I don’t mind them because they help decompose the mulch and help plants absorb the nutrients they need. Also they are so interesting. I’ve got plenty 😁
I'm really jealous about all these amazing plants... Here in Germany most of these plant varieties are pretty hard to find. I think that's why I love your videos so much: Thanks to you guys I can dream of all these things! 🥰
I can't afford them also don't have the space, but the joy and enthusiasm that she shows is priceless, when everything is established this is going to be one beautiful Space ❤❤
Katrin, I'm in France and have found this Menhir variety of Ginkgo. It's around 39 euros but height varies. I just left a comment this evening about that puzzlement! 🤔
Hi garden answer.. Laura I watch all your wonderful gardening footage every day.i remember a few years ago I commented to you about a garden channel I'd been following also.he has been using woodchips he's had them on his orchard for forty years and has never watered or fertalized them in that whole time,he has them in his chicken coop and the chickens scratch them into the soil..after some time he sifts it into a weel barrow and uses it for growing his vegetables and the abundance is wonderful, he's had his soil tested and the number's are off the charts.. people who have used his method's and live with little rain fall have seen an amazing difference..with hardly any maintenance until there established.. he's Paul gauchi,,,back to Eden.
I have a ginkgo tree, I ADORE IT, when it turns yellow, be ready, enjoy it, because in a few days, it will all drop, and you will have a yellow carpet, mine is the big one, i need to find this little one. And i put two of the cypress in my cart, very very cool tree! I love how the South Garden is turning out.
Donna, where do order your plants? I plan to order a specific tree variety in the spring (something I've never done before) and I'm curious about the tried and true places to order. Thanks in Advance!
@@amandastout2729 I do get a lot of plants from Proven Winners. the cypress link is listed in her description. I will try to find them at my favorite nursery. If not i will search online.
So fortunate that I ran across your channel. We have just "cleaned " out our woods next to our property and there isn't any winter interest! Thanks for the great idea of the cypress. Looking forward to getting next spring! Blessings ❤🏡🌲🌳
Oh my goodness! The grown up version of the Haywire cypress is so "Winter Wonderland." I immediately envisioned Burl Ives Sam the snowman floating around snow covered evergreens at the North Pole in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. I would be so impatient for those babies to get big enough to deck out with lights. Are you already planning your Christmas lighting? It's not even Halloween yet, and I can't wait for Christmas lights!
Omg I cannot possibly wait until all of these wonderful plants establish themselves and grow to their full potential! You guys are gonna have your own little private Eden's garden! 😍🌲🌳🌼🌻 Edit: How is Samantha Grace doing? Sending good vibes and wishes! ❤
Thank you for discussing the wood chip issue, I am using fresh in a few weeks as I take down three sizable trees. With each new planting your property is looking better and better. 💚
Hi Laura and Aaron! The Haywire False Cypress are so pretty and unusual at that size. I would want them to keep that shape and "wild" look. LOL! The Ginkgo will be interesting at only 15" wide. It would be good to tuck in a small garden, too, as a backdrop, as long as the root system wouldn't do damage to foundations, or pipes. Thank you so much for sharing!
Yep, seeing so much of your South garden and from close and distance and I'm longing for some hills and valleys there. Especially in the planting beds.
I’d love to see some of these trees repeated throughout the rest of your property, just to make is cohesive. I’m sure there are some repeats and that you’ve already thought of this though! My first thought was to plant the third evergreen where the blue spruce came down, though I’m not sure it gets tall enough to be a true replacement. I loved seeing you plant without being sped up and heating your thought process and you planted! 👏 💗💗💗
Oh, my! That gingko is stunning! I might need to get one of those. Wish I had room for the haywire. Have you decided whether to designate a spot as a permanent dumping ground? Seems like that is going to become only more necessary as time goes on. Perhaps right behind the new shed, which has walls now - so exciting! ~ Lisa

I really like the Haywire Cypress - can't wait to see it as it grows.
I see, in a few years a perfect plant for Christmas lights.
It's so cool to be here at the beginning of all this planting in your new garden. Really looking forward to seeing it in a couple or more years.
I have loved seeing the garden transition from Summer to Fall! 🍁🍂🌱
Those Sumacs though! My goodness....they stand out like beautiful fall punctuation!
So funny, We were just looking at gingkos last Sat at nursery!!!🌳
I am now going to buy ginkgo- the perfect tree for a small blank space I have in my garden and what a stunning colour in Autumn. Thank you 😊
I hope Samantha is feeling better 💗
I need one of those too. It will be perfect in my small courtyard.
@@christinaaubin8508 stunning, aren't they! I don't think we can get them in the UK though 😥
I would say our Park Department didn't have that knowledge when making the decision on trees!😊
That was fun watching you plant the shrubs and tree and exciting in the new area you have accomplished so much so far .
Your grass looks like a golf course. Just beautiful Aaron. Good job.
It's coming along. Just nicely now Laura your beautiful garden. And love the ideas you have got to do in your garden. And your new trees so beautiful.
I saw "skinny fit" and I thought Laura was reviewing jeans! lol! That certainly had me do a double take :).
🤣
Lol at "If digging can be a dream, the augur makes it so" - could be a new slogan for the augur tool's company.
I wholeheartedly agree about heavy on the evergreens in the spaces. Just envision the snow languishing on the branches when it falls. I see it and oh how beautifully landscaped the view is!
I hope Samantha is feeling much better 🌸
I just LOVE how every year you have new projects planned to do it makes everything better
Wow! Check out those hydrangeas behind Laura! They just get prettier and prettier. I love the Haywire Cypress…so fun!
My wife & I Love your videos! (You mentioned you were going to expand your planting area, to include the area around the well head for the south property. Just a suggestion, you may want to leave an access to the well head for the trucks that would come to do maintenance on the well. Some of the well maintenance trucks can be rather large and heavy.)
You have given us lots of inspiration to get our land developed.
Those Haywires are so cool!!! Too enormous for us, but can’t wait to see them grow for you. Ginko’s are a fav of mine to!
The fall color looks so beautiful against Aaron’s gorgeous green grass! Love the evergreens!
@@amandastout2729, wondering the same thing.
@@amandastout2729 I do get a lot of plants from Proven Winners. the cypress link is listed in her description. I will try to find them at my favorite nursery. If not i will search online.
Good Morning from Grand Haven Michigan!
So fortunate that I ran across your channel. We have just "cleaned " out our woods next to our property and there isn't any winter interest! Thanks for the great idea of the cypress. Looking forward to getting next spring! Blessings ❤🏡🌲🌳
Aaron’s grass in the background looks beautiful. Good job Aaron.
Coffee and Garden Answer what a great way to start the day.❤
Omg I cannot possibly wait until all of these wonderful plants establish themselves and grow to their full potential! You guys are gonna have your own little private Eden's garden! 😍🌲🌳🌼🌻
Edit: How is Samantha Grace doing?
Love watching your plant placement and reasoning, it’s always “my” struggle! You’ve helped me so much in this area of gardening 💚💚💚
Yep, seeing so much of your South garden and from close and distance and I'm longing for some hills and valleys there. Especially in the planting beds.
At 15:54 the orange of the sumacs and the yellow tree far behind got me swooning!! 😍🍂🍁
I love fall!
Where I live spring it’s rolling around! 🌷
~ Lisa
Hello Laura and early rising Garden Answer viewers. Top of the morning to you!!!
Good morning! I hope everyone has a lovely day today!
Here in GA, we say “ I cant believe we got a hydrangea to turn pink!” 😆
