Hi Lau, a great informative video again 👍👍 Your water is looking spectacular 👌👌 good to see the protein skimmers working well. Decking will set your garden off a treat, but take your time with it, there's no rush. You work hard enough as it is. Take care and stay safe, Terry.
Thank you Terry. At least the wood is cut and away now. Now I just have to clear up the area. I have the supports already but I will have to save and buy the decking boards. I want the one with the felt on it as it will become an ice rink otherwise because of where it is. I am quite chuffed with the water clarity. But there is more water in my filtration system than in the pond itself 🤣🤣
This is my first time commenting on your video's. Your water quality is utterly fantastic, you should be very proud of what you have achieved. As regards the sinking feed, i use sinking and floating as i feel its gives them a choice. Many thanks for your video's and take care.
Thank you John, this is much appreciated. I am quite pleased, other than the size of the pond :-) but I will extend in a couple of years no doubt. Yes when I switched to the summer food, I will use both the Summer floating and sinking from ProBites. In the winter they did like the sinking.
Nice job on the clean up.. I have some trees that need to be cleaned up 😁 Great job explaining the protein skimmer and using filter cloth to reduce sunlight and algae. Man I love your little Oasis. It's finally going to get warm as in boom from 7c daytime -3 at night to 26c in a matter of a week.. Welcome to a Canadian spring
that's very kind of you. I feel comfortable sitting in my filter house and looking around. Little oasis as you say. BUt soon, yours will be up and running again. Temps have dropped here a bit for the past few dyas but should go up again at the end of this week. Crazy for the pond going from 17 down to 14 and then going back up again. Take care my friend
Thank you Simon.. I am the wood collector 🤣 It's in me since I was a kid... collecting wood for the fire for the following winter. Just about to split the large logs now. Water clarity, yeah I am pretty pleased with that, I let the filter do their job and I clean them regularly. Works all well, I am pleased.
Strangely enough, I have now open the front of the pond, and there is barely any skimmet being produced. So the explanation of the air compression in an enclosed enironment makes more sense. SO weird how things work.
it's doing its job so it wasnt a waste of money 😉 Yeah really happy with the clarity of the water, that food is just perfect ofr my pond so happy days :-) speak later
I'm loving the new intro Lau. Normally I skip intro's once I've watched them once or twice but I watch yours all the way through. I'm wondering if I could make one of those protein skimmers for my pond. I know Terry made his but I wouldn't need anything of that size for mine. Something to think about.
Thank you Jim, kindly appreciated :-) I tried to build my own protein skimmer but I cracker the acrylic tube twice, so I gave up... There are things that I am just not good at :-)
Another great update. Your water is gin clear nice one. I’m still plodding along with my new build and can’t wait for it to be completed but my health is taking it’s toll I can only do so much then have to stop and rest but I have some good days and some bad where I can’t do anything. I’m still waiting for the tank connectors and ball valves to arrive so I can sort out my multi bay so will sort pipe work out soon as they arrive. Take car
Hi Jamie, I am sorry to hear that. One thing I have taken from my build is that it's not a marathon. Unfortunately, the way I am, I had to keep going like crazy everyday after work, and yes in less than 2 months my fish were in, I have had 3 injuries, 1 of which is still not repaired, so take it easy.
Pond looks crystal Lau✨✨👍 I'm switching food I think as it's destroying the clarity pretty bad. Which makes me wonder, does excess protein in the water cause it to discolour or would I just get foam if there was excessive protein in the water?
Both, protein stains the water with a tinge of yellow and can cloud is slightly like nitrates can. And it causes bubbles (like it did on mine) or foam for some people.
Great video Lau👍😊, interesting and entertaining as always😊👍. Protein skimmer looks like a great bit of kit, must take a look at them as it must help when I ramp up the summer feeding😊. Pond water is looking fantastic, has a proper sparkle to it so no more bubbles/foam on the top👍. Keep up the good work and best wishes for the season ahead👍🐟🈲😊
Lau your water is looking crystal, like glass and of course the koi all looking healthy too 🙂 I wonder what the pro bites sinking works out cost wise compared to saki hikari sinking per kg 🤔
Thank you Tom. I just looked on Gatwick Koi, the spring autumn sinking is 15.99 the kilo based on a 5kg bag. The chlorella sinking is £17.65 the kilo based on a 3kg bag. The winter food which is only sinking is £15.99/kilo based on a 3kg bag.
Hi John, on my video where I installed it, I did show the valve to regulate the air. The little black ball needs to be between the 2 lines. There is like a little tap which for me is fully open and I regulate the air via the manifold on the air pump. Hope this helps

You know what that means 😁😁 a bigger pond 🤣🤣 take care, Terry.
@@Wrighty hahaha dont encourage me... but I know it will happen in the next couple of years, has to be done 🤣

The new protein skimmer looks like it is doing a great job. So nice to see that there are no longer any bubbles on the water surface. Cheers.
Absolutely Ken. It's nice to see that I haven't wasted money. Thank you for watching

This video has made me envious of 2 things - your wood pile and the clarity of your water 👌

Thank you my friend. Yes it's working well, I am super pleased. Hope it's going ok your end, but we'll chat outside here 😉
Once again very interesting observations around foam production and correlations. Well appreciated.

Great update and lots of good information about the protein skimmer, should allow any of us to set one up.....more money, lol
You can always try to build one. I tried but cracked twice the acrylic tube so gave up.

Hi another great video one question how do you regulate the air going into the skimmer

Hi thank you
Nice update Lau 👍
Thank you - All in order, happy days 😉
Another fascinating stroll down the Magro boulevard of koi keeping.
Hahaha that made me laugh 🤣
How about the water going in?, is there a min / max flow recommended?
Hi, the water enters from the top, and exit at the bottom. Max flow is 5000 litre an hour.
Great update Lau the protein skimmer looks like it's working a treat do you have a link for the material you covered it with?
If I put the link, UA-cam will remove it. If you type Black neoprene sheet on Amazon, you will have some coming, different size and thickness etc.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection thanks Lau 😊
