3:26 It's going great! At the moment, the surface is not yet shiny, but this is to be expected as the feeding period is still underway. The body shape is of a slightly more egg-holding type, so this is also where the skills are shown. I just found your channel and love ur pond build and am excited about the new build. I’m about to start my above ground build I’m in the states.. thank you for the inspiration
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection I don’t have a massive space but I’m going to stretch it 😂 it’s very sunny where it’s going so I’ll be building a pergola above it and maybe add some vines on top haven’t decided that exactly .. I’ll be doing it solo.. seeing your window really makes me want to try it but I’m pretty nervous about it
Hi, regarding the vine, keep in mind that when the leaves fall, it will be everywhere. But most importantly, when you have the flowers of the grapes, or grapes themselves, that will go everywhere and the dried little flowers will leave a mess. If you watch Sid in Canada from Koi Run, he has grape vine above his pond. He explains. For the window, don't be nervous. Mine is not big. That was my first pond I build, and providing you get the right thickness of glass and put the 'glue' bead correctly, you will be fine. Also I would advise to sandwich the liner between the walls (whatever you use - bricks or sleepers) and the glass. In my early video, I shown how I did it. And there are other videos on UA-cam, but I wouldn't advise to glue the liner on the glass. Keep in mind that the glue/silicone, whatever you want to call it, doesn't stick in cheap plastic liners, but only on rubber liners. If you got with fiberglass, then you won't have any problems anyway.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection I didn’t think about the flowers on a vine.. ur right I’ll scrap the vine idea.. I’ll think of something else to use. I’ll be using a epdm liner.. So won't be building it this time 🤣 Let alone moving the fish, that is not great but needs must. I just can't wait seeing them swim in a larger and heated pond 😊
you have a good pressure filter , but it is not big enough for the size of your pond as a pre filter , you should have minimum 16000 ltr one , i used to use 30000 ltr oase pressure filter , now i just use the oase 140000 screenmatic 2 , excellent filter ,
Hi Darren, so on this pond there are 4 separate systems of filtration. None of them are connected. Eazypod (mechanical only) to the bio chamber (75 litres of K+ and 10 litres of ecochips). Then pressure filter to prefilter the multibay which itself is mechanical with the vortex and the brushes and the chamber of sponges, 2 chamber of 20 litres each of Hel-X 13, followed by the chamber of Jap mat and ceramic media. On the other side of the pond, 2 separate system again, skimmer goes to tempest which goes into a protein skimmer (tornado 3) Then, separately, an Oase pressure filter (mechanical) going to the shower (3 tiers of BioHome media, CSM ceramic media). It's a massive amount of filtration for a little pond 🙂
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection , ok , all i am saying is the pressure filtrs will let through fines if the pump rate is to high for them , hence why i would go for the biggest one i can get , the oase ones are top class and would recommend them , just go big , as you say they are used as pre filters which is great , it is just the flow through them maybe to much , hence the fines you are getting in the multi bay all the time ,
@@darrenfrost5775 it's a 6000 litres an hour, around 3000 litres an hour is going through it. It had to be tuned to the multibay max flow rate. But I won't change it now as I am rebuilding next year.

My rebuild is going ok but very slow because of all the rain we’re having up here in Manchester block work completed roof & filter shed framing almost done then on to filters & pipe work
Oh gosh, so you are almost there. Fantastic. Exciting times. Yes the weather has slow down a lot of people who were building. Even us down the south, we've had some weird temps. Some very good sunny days but not warm at all.
I see your feeding pelits with the auto feeder but at the end it looked like you were hand feeding sticks? If so that could be why you have alot of waste. Koi sticks are not great for koi digestion and produce alot of waste. Your better off getting a good quality pellet like Hikari and just feed that. you should then cut down on your waste.
Hi, I would never feed my fish with sticks 😊 and definitely not Hikari. I do my own mix of ProBites and Saki Hikari as I explained at the beginning of the video. Hikari is a different brand. What you saw at this end is high quality calci worm, twice a week.
Exciting plans Lau!😬 very much looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Your Showa has grown exceptionally well, developing really nice👌 Have you noticed a change in your fish since using the PDF? As you may or may not know, I've recently started using it and the whole dynamics of the pond seems to have changed completely. Whether that's due to the PDF alone I don't know, but they seem better for it. Hope the eazypod clean has resolved your issue for you👍 take care.
Hi Si. So I started using it just a year ago, when I had all the problems with the tap water (metals). I use it weekly without a fail. Within 3 weeks of using it, none of the fish were flashing anymore and it's been like that ever since. Despite the level of metals in my tap water. It's very bad here for copper, iron, aluminium and zinc. So it worked for me and I know it has worked for a lot of people. It's expensive, but so nice to see the fish not going mad after each water change. It has also helped my nitrite to stay very low, unlike last year when all my nitrite readings were through the roof.
@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection that's very interesting that you mention the Nitrite Lau. Since I started using it, my Nitrite has been the best it has ever been too🤔👌
@@UpNorthKoiPond that's great. I saw a change within 3 weeks, then wasn't sure if it was necessary to carry on but I stuck to it as I know it's an ongoing problem here with metals. And it takes a long time to be fully into the system as such. But the more I speak to people who show, the more I realised that so many people were using it.
Lau them chag's will eat and grow so you need that bigger pond. Think long and hard on how you want to filter it some like a drum some like a wee bit of cleaning its down to the koi keeper what way they go. have a good week
Hi Martyn, I can honestly say that I never disliked cleaning the filters. I actually enjoy that part. But definitely a drum followed by two bio chambers is the way I will go. Have a nice week Martyn.
Hi Lau, my pond is pump fed too. I’m running a small Oase drum, and it cuts all the maintenance out. Have a look on my page. Rachel at Bradshaws Direct was great to speak with and helped me with everything I needed. Now there’s so little filter maintenance other than topping the water up using a dechlorinator. I’ve had it running for 2 years since my build. I wish you all the best with your new pond!!!
Hi Steve, thank you for watching and commenting. I will have a look. It will be a bigger drum here, with a double bio chamber. No point changing anything right now, so close to the rebuild. But yeah, I can imagine that a drum is a game changer.
Absolutely right, I couldn't remember exactly how much it will be. Bigger than I thought... Ouch, the water bill is going to take a hit .. Hope you are well and all is well your end.
Fish looking great . It`ll be a shame to see the old pond go , as you put a lot of effort into it - but I`m sure the next one (notice I didnt say "final one"😆) will be even better . A drum will will definitely make cleaning easier and give you more time for your other interests . I`d lose the chicken shed , though , or you might end up wishing you`d gone bigger and end up with a 3rd build in a few years !
Hi Carlos, thank you for watching. I built this pond by myself almost 3 years ago, just in 6 weeks. But the next one will be much bigger but bricks, but builders will be doing the job. I will build the roof, the filter house, do some pipe work as I love that, and the garden. I am not doing the brick work and the fiberglass. But I definitely need to rebuild, the fish are getting large and the new one will much better 😀
Haha, you are so funny. Definitely won't be as big as Lee's. In theory, march next year. No, I am not touching the brick work and fiberglass. But definitely doing the roof and filter house. And some pipe work which I love.
Next pond will be more manageable. Drains and drum is the way. Good luck also if you can build the pond so you can reverse the flow with opposite returns for even growing. I had an easy pod as a mechanical stage for a couple of years and it does take alot of cleaning but works better for clarity when blocked . But a nice drum and a big bio will be perfect.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection such strange weather. It’s 22-25c here middle of winter. Not much snow for snow boarding. Love your carnivores plants and even got an Australian Albany pitcher plant in your collection.
Hi, two separate systems, they are not connected. The pond is high, so the mutibay would have to be above the eazypod, go gravity into the eazypod which in turns gravity back into the pond. Just impossible. Also different flow, the eazypod optimum is 6000 l/hours, the multibay is 3000 l/hour.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection I see your problem, it's a pity ye can't have a two an half to three inch Syphon from the pond to a round bin full of brushes, then pumped through the Easypod, just to ease load. I know what you mean with em blocking up fast.
@@lifearoundthekoipond2283 yeah I did think originally about the cyclone Syphon, but the pipe were not high enough. But it's fine, I honestly believe Saki Hikari plays a major part in this. I have two vortexes plus an easy Pod with masses of air, and I've never had any problems this year. I think the more biological media the better the water 😊
Hi, so your eazypod is mechanical and your two vortexes are bio chambers? Pond are so different from one to another. I have 125 litres of plastic media and ceramic media in the last chamber + 3 tier in the shower. A lot of bio. De Dutch feed the colour food in August so you have one more month after to feed non colour food. So you only have one month colour in your water and rest of the year it’s bright and clean
I am on it now 😁 temperatures are rubbish here this summer, so it's a tough one this year.
Nice video Lau, congrats on the future pond build. Lovely 😍 koi.
Thanks Scott. As always, thanks for watching and commenting. Hope you are well.
Nice update Lau bet you can't wait for the new build look forward to seeing it stay safe and well
Hi Carol, how are you? How are the fish. I can't wait either, especially as I won't be doing the work 😂
Fish doing ok I'm doing good roll on summer @@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection
@@carollycett1329 gosh yeah, what is this summer all about?!
I just found your channel and love ur pond build and am excited about the new build. I’m about to start my above ground build I’m in the states.. thank you for the inspiration
Hi, and thank you for watching. That's great about your build. So what are you going for?
I’ve started the framing of the build with wood.. I’ll check out more videos on the window.. absolutely love your channel..
@@MonicaTorresphilly thank you, that's very kind of you to say that.
If you are only concerned about the full sun in summer, the. I would suggest a sail, this way you have some shade on part of the pond in summer, and the. You can remove it for the other reasons.
Looking good, can’t wait to see the new pond build, should be a lot less maintenance with a gravity fed / drum system 👍
Thanks Andrew, yes everything will be easier and most probably better. If anything, a bigger environment for the koi. Thank you for commenting
Looking forward to your new journey Lau x
Thank you. Looking forward to it but also a bit apprehensive. I am sure it will come together at the end 😊 thanks for watching and commenting. Always appreciated
It's weird you have to clean the filters so much .
The brushes sure do pick up a lot...
I had to clean out my eazy pod too .
I am glad you are staying with the hobby
Yeah, I am pretty sure that the saki hikari food is responsible for it... But also, small body of water and the fish have grown... Pump fed, poo gets chopped by the impellers. .
Thanks for watching Chris.
I miss you make youtube fun like we all says u need some think pm us ever help you build pond and all parts we be at newark show on Sunday but be uo they for 4 days holiday to hehe
Thank you. I really appreciate that. Kind of you. I won't be at Newark as I am away that weekend. But I'll be at the Kent show on the Saturday. May be see you there?
@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection u see me they last time give you my business card same as my UA-cam don't no if we be they this year as we wait on little one to pop out but you never kown x
You jinxed the bloody weather 😂😂 Good to hear of the new pond. Best bit is building it 👍🏼👍🏼 If I can help at all, please let me k ow 😊
I have, totally jinxed it after that video 😂. And thank you Dave, that's super kind of you. Oh I hate the whole process of the building. Absolutely hate it.
Your fish is really developing good. Well done! Rebuild, upgrade....That is what this hobby is about.🙂👍
Thanks Magnus, you just need to come to England so you can build my filter house 😀
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection that would be fun! My current setup has taken 6 years already and is not finished yet. Would be very expensive 🤣🤣. However every time I see your roof construction my subconsious me think you need help to rebuilt properly. That would take less than a week.🙂👍
@@greenmachinesweden yep, I am not a builder 🤣 did my best and I had never done anything like it before. But the new filter house will be different, and not felt but rubber.
Hi lau great to see you back koi looking stunning & have put on some good size. Great to hear your having a rebuild can’t wait for them videos.
Evening LAU I’ll send you a few pics of we’re I’m upto on pm
@@baitking1 just received them. Thank you for sending those. It looks really nice. Really like it.
Your Showa has grown exceptionally well, developing really nice👌
Have you noticed a change in your fish since using the PDF?
Good luck keep up the good work 👌
Thank you John, much appreciated
Exciting times ahead Mon Petit Poi 👌🏻
Exciting time to watch you work and not me doing it haha 😂
5.5 x 2 x 1.2 = 2904 gallons. That's a nice size and just a little smaller than my own pond. Looking forward to watching it emerge from the ground.
Haha your message has really made me giggled. If I say to Rachel that we will extend again in a few years time, I will get shot, for sure... 😂
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection Same here . After 3 builds , I've maxed out my available space and my wife's patience 🤣
@@hippo5346 🤣🤣 yeah I can imagine
I know this is going to be tough on you but l really do not know if you need rebuild, l am a bus driver so l would not know.
OMG. How exciting. Move over Lee Hadfield and James 'the Koi whisperer'. Will you build it yourself? When will you start?
Haha, you are so funny. Definitely won't be as big as Lee's. In theory, march next year.
No, I am not touching the brick work and fiberglass. But definitely doing the roof and filter house. And some pipe work which I love.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection I could come and help you with the pipework. I'll labour for you and you can teach me.
Them new koi😮 grown well
Hey Mike. Yes despite not feeding as much as I would like to, they are growing and getting wider. It's nice to see.
Bottom drains or pump in pond
Next pond will be more manageable. Drains and drum is the way. Good luck also if you can build the pond so you can reverse the flow with opposite returns for even growing. I had an easy pod as a mechanical stage for a couple of years and it does take alot of cleaning but works better for clarity when blocked . But a nice drum and a big bio will be perfect.
@sdn1528 hi, it's a pump fed system. Retro bottom drain but the pump is outside the pond.
Cheers lau 👍
Thanks Richard as always
👌
Thanks Paul for watching. Much appreciated
Great news everyone loves a pond build. Eat the chickens and go bigger 😅
🤣🤣 Dean! 🤣🤣 You so made me laugh with that one.
Wow middle of winter here and my pond is at 16c 🇦🇺
Absolutely, really bad temps this summer in England. Last year I had to put a sail inside the pond as pond was going above 26 degrees.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection such strange weather. It’s 22-25c here middle of winter. Not much snow for snow boarding.
Love your carnivores plants and even got an Australian Albany pitcher plant in your collection.
@@rowdywombatadventures8755 wow. Where are you located? We had a fantastic June, but since then, it's been rubbish.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection I’m in Shellharbour NSW south of Sydney.
@@rowdywombatadventures8755 fantastic. How does it work with koi in Australia? I hear you are somehow limited due to the import?
Can you pump the water from the multi bay to the Easy Pod, that way you won't be blocking the Easy Pod as much 🤔
Hi, two separate systems, they are not connected.
Never had that problem last year when my mix was 75% Probites 25% saki hikari. Yet I was feeding more compared to this summer.
In 8 months time, the rebuild, and things will be different 😁
I have two vortexes plus an easy Pod with masses of air, and I've never had any problems this year. I think the more biological media the better the water 😊
Hi, so your eazypod is mechanical and your two vortexes are bio chambers?
Pond are so different from one to another. I have 125 litres of plastic media and ceramic media in the last chamber + 3 tier in the shower. A lot of bio. A few people have got the same thing with eazypod, it's not new, and being pump fed, everything gets chopped off. But it's good if you havent got that problem. Minus one thing to worry about.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection I must admit, you have an amazing set up, just by simply looking at ye fish, I'm cleaning my filters a couple of times a week, it only means one thing, the filters are working as they should 👍
@@lifearoundthekoipond2283 yeah most definitely, the more rubbish you have in the filters, the more you know they are doing their jobs 😉 thank you for commenting, was nice to chat.
