Which light looked better to you? We have a couple more Flounder Gigging videos to come out with as well as many other videos. Once the weather gets better we'll try for some Pompano as well. Thanks for watching!

The outrigger seems to be easier on the eyes. The flounder seems to show better

Thanks for taking the time to do this comparison! It would be cool if you also compared the 6000k Mini Swamp Eye Submersible (instead of just the 2000k). This is the “bright white” color that some people prefer. The 2000k is a deep warm white color that works great in muddy waters.
      Keep up the great work!

@@outriggeroutdoors6656thanks for commenting! Yeah if we had the Jerry LED 2000, to compare to y'alls 2000 and y'alls 6000 to compare to their 3000 that would have been a more in depth video and apples to apples as far as the 2000k lights go. I think y'alls 2000k light did show why it was preferred over the cooler lights due to the color contrast (the Flounder pops out more) vs the cooler light. If we ever get our hands on y'alls 6000k and their 2000k it would be good to do another video on it. We're just waiting for December 15th now.

I realized that I've been floundering for 56 years. I've run flounder boats most of my adult life, but I have also spent a lot of time wading and gigging. Lights are the most important thing we have going for us, except maybe for experience and knowledge of when/where to go. I have been an absolute light fanatic for decades, and I have spent more money than I care to admit testing and experimenting with them. l found Jerry's lights, and quit looking. I have never met the guy, but I have done business with him, and he's a class act personally as well.
One thing most people don't know about light is called Color Rendering Index (CRI). It has to do with how well the human eye can make use of the light that a fixture gives out. Bottom line, the sun is a CRI of 100, and everything else is compared to that - the higher the number the better. Everyone has seen those yellow low pressure sodium lights on streets and highways. We always called them "anti-light", because you can see that things are there but you can't seem to focus on details. Low pressure sodium has a CRI of about 16-20. I don't know the exact CRI of Jerry's lights, but they have to be somewhere around 95, which is where a lot of photo-quality lights fall.
The other thing Jerry's have is a very high-quality aluminum heat sink. Heat is the enemy of LED's, and I have seen LED floundering lights burn themselves out in a couple of minutes when run out of the water. Even when they don't burn out, letting LED's get too hot will shorten their lifespan and/or cause a color shift. Sometimes I need to run my light to walk down a shoreline to get to the place I want to flounder. (That's how I know that some lights burn themselves out quickly... from walking back in the dark.) Jerry's heat sinks are superb about not letting the LED's overheat, which is the reason my flounder boats have all been outfitted with them for a long, long time. A lot of guys making lights think that because the light is going to be under water, they don't have to worry about dissapating heat. Jerry's went to the trouble of designing really good heat sinks, even though I'm sure they are expensive to produce.
I say all that not to endorse a company, but to try and help fellow fishermen.

Hello Ruben, our friend and others caught so many pompano yesterday at the jetty and bobhall. Unfortunately we were not there :0)

Hello, Darlene, this is Matt, I hope you are doing well. Ruben and I went down PINS yesterday and were able to get on some very nice Pompano. We did have to work for them though, it wasn't a crazy bite for us. It will take some time for me to make a video out of it. Got so much in the backlog. Hopefully next window you have a chance to go fishing for them.

Hello Matt, we're going this week, spending thanksgiving down there. Hopefully no rain but more likely not. Our friends caught 30 pompanos at the jetty. They had never caught any pompano their entire life. We have never ever caught that many, especially at the jetty. Our friends also said so many people caught lots lots of them at the jetty. It was a good day for everyone there. We may visit jetty and bobhall this week and will see. Hopefully poms are still hanging around there. I will come say hi if I see you two. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

I agree. That's what I was telling Ruben when we did a side by side. We thought it could be a new battery vs the old battery but as you can see, the Jerry LED is just brighter. I will say that the Outrigger 2000 does work a little better in dirtier water though. We need to try the Jerry LED 2000k to really compare apples to apples.

Hi Ruben, It was a lot of fun fishing with you and Matt on the Packery Channel Jetty. Janet and I had so much fun we've decided to invest in gigging lights. I ordered a 40W from Jerry as he told me it was all that was really needed for wade gigging, but I popped over to Outdoor Outriggers and opted for the 128W 2000/6000 model which comes with 2 red 12v leads to operate either the warm or bright or both. We're coming down to Corpus on May 5 (Cinco de Mayo) and staying for the week. Maybe we'll see you and Matt at the Jetty. Tight Lines!

Thank you! It is worth mentioning that Jerry LEDs also sells a 2000k light (warmer) and that Outrigger also sells a 6000k (cooler).

Looks more like comparing Kelvin's rather than brand. Maybe compare the 2 brands using the same Kelvin on each.

    Excellent comparison video!
How are the lights attached to the PVC pole handle?

    • @MattsSaltwaterFishing
      @MattsSaltwaterFishing  26 днів тому +1

The Jerry LED has 2 prongs at the top of the light where the PVC goes in between and then you run a bolt and nut through the PVC and prongs of the light (kind of like a GoPro).
The Outrigger Outdoors has a U bolt mount that goes over the PVC, no drilling required. U bolt and nut sold separately.
