bought a Revolt this summer to replace my older Defy and really love the switch. it's light enough I can still feel fast and road-like, but it's less fragile feeling when you're around town hopping curbs and dodging potholes. I'm not really a spandex racer type, so I feel like I'll probably never buy a 'true' road bike again now
I tested a revolt as a Liv devote was unavailable. I still ordered the Devote but loved the trial on the Revolt. Still waiting for mine to arrive. I hope I made the right choice.
Great review Mossie. Thanks. How tall are you? I bought a ML because a M felt small. Still doesn’t feel quite right though. Wonder now if I should have gotten the M with a longer seat post.
I am 5"10 with a 32 inseam. Have you tried a shorter stem? I have noticed that Giant has been throwing some oddball sized stems just because I think they are throwing what they have together and getting it shipped
That’s interesting. The ML came with a 90, but the geo table said it should be 100. Anyway, I put a 70 on and it fits like my M TCR, but still “feels” big. Of course, my TCR now “feels” small after riding the ML Revolt! Anyway, my height and inseam are not quite a half inch less than yours, so we must be Giant’s Goldilocks demographic!
Hi, did your wife liked the geometry of this bike? How does it compare to the liv devote? How tall is your wife? I am thinking of getting one for my wife and she is 5,6... Do you think a medium will work? Thanks for posting this! Cheers
We actually put donnelly strada 32s on her bike for the road. We more or less did this because the tires were available😅. She LOVES the bike though. Even more so than the TCR she has before it. Kayla is 5'10 and the medium fits great. I believe a medium would still work for your wife as well but I would compare it to a small just to be sure.
@@MossieRidesBikes thats awesome How do you find the comfort in the back on gravel. I like suspension seatposts and seems like we cant add one in the back due to the D shape.
The biggest difference between the two is the 3 is a 10 speed bike and the 2 is the 11speed. I'm not sure if I would say it's worth the money for that extra gear. I would maybe even save the 500 and buy a set of lighter weight wheels. The 3 this year is loads better than the previous only because it is full hydraulic instead that proprietary giant cable to hydro converter
I wish I had a more concrete answer for ya. We have the new XTC on order but as you know availability has been so spotty that I'm not 100% on timeframe. I have been thinking about doing a video on the Alma from Orbea though since my little brother has been on one the past few months
Hey man, awesome video! I ordered the same exact bike just in the Desert Sage color instead. Been looking forward to riding it and your video just made more excited! Was wondering if you knew about the issues with the Praxis BB? I heard that on this model, the Praxis BB tends to start squeaking after about 300 miles. I’ve decided that when the bike arrives, I’m going to upgrade the Praxis Crankset to a GRX crankset instead and replace the BB. Anyways, loved the video and look forward to seeing the next, keep up the great work!
I haven't ran into this problem personally but I'll be sure to keep an eye on it. My one gripe with Giant is they can be a little conservative with the grease and that has cause premature squeakage. The grx is what I was looking to replace it with as well so the whole group is complete🙂
Hey there! I gots a question. I understand your bike is a medium. How comfortable is the bike for your wife? And if you don't mind me asking, how tall is your wife? I'm thinking of getting this for my wife. Planning to get a size SMALL for her. She is around 5'3. Want to know your thoughts. Thanks! :)
She loves the bike and is actually riding it more on the road than anywhere else because of how comfortable and confidence inspiring the bike is. My wife is 5'10 so I think the small should fit your wife just fine
It's not very constructive to say that looks are more important to the "lady folk". Girls can be utilitarian and boys can prioritize aesthetics; don't reinforce gender roles.
@@TheJaxsonjack have you ever considered that the majority of women you work with likely grew up in the same social hierarchy you did and therefore claiming that it is a biological effect based on that evidence is dubious at best? That's... statistics
@walter Cai I told my wife that I was going to buy her a new bike . Her response was immediately to tell me the colors she wanted. Absolutely no care about anything else. Not that every girl reacts that way, but differences in gender do exist.Oh, and your societal hierarchy argument is crap.
@@waltercai you'll probably find that western societies have less difference between the attitudes of men and women. Developing and third world countries have very rigid gender roles and differences. The average personality differences between men and women are very well documented.
@@MrDrewbies Afraid I'm not sure what point you're trying to make... We seem to agree that the environment in which one is raised influences one's views. Given this assumption, we should be wary of ascribing traditional gender roles to differences in male and female biology. Instead, it would make more sense to ascribe gender roles to the patriarchal society that is nearly worldwide and which almost every living person was raised in. Also I'm curious to read these well documented differences; would you mind providing some links?
As a bike mechanic, I appreciate the unboxing might help customers understand the degree of assembly and adjustments out-of-the-box bicycles require.

I rode this bike today ... when I tell you I smiled from the time I got on to the time I got off! I’m definitely going to buy one!
Color of the bike is on point!
Congrats to Mrs. Rides Bikes!
The Crosscuts…come tubeless stock? Or they’re tubeless capable?
I really enjoy your videos. I’ve learned a lot!

Great question. And what's a good road wheelset for this 2021 Giant Revolt Advanced 2 model?
How much does it weigh? Thanks
Hey is the handlebar 31.8. I was wondering if you van add a redshift shockstop stem on it
Yes, the bars are 31.8 and that stem should go right on

Worth the money upgrading from the 3?

The crosscut tires are tanks. I just replaced mine with gravelkings and cut down 1.5lb off the bike. Those wire bead tires are poop.
I think calling them tanks is a very accurate representation 😂

When you get a XTC Advanced in please do a video on it.
We bought mine yesterday. I chose this one over LIV for the Exact same reason 🤣. Prettier!
It's such a beautiful bike!
Do you have a weight for this one?
I'm actually working on the first ride video and I will have the weight of the bike in that one.
