    Your yard is looking great. I’ve learn to let your mulch sit for at least 24 hours to dry before watering😊

    Looking good. I've learned over the years that no matter what you put down some grass and weeds will show through the next growing season. I usually get about 150 bags of mulch every year plus multiple layers of landscape fabric and i use Preen to top it off

    • @AtHomewithMalaNicole
      @AtHomewithMalaNicole  Місяць тому

      I know exactly what you mean! Plus Bermuda grass is the hardest to get rid of. I've heard great things about Preen. Purchased some and never used it. I will definitely be topping off with Preen in the spring.

      @AtHomewithMalaNicole Preen doesn't kill grass or weeds but it works good to keep it from growing for the season

    Looking Good I'm Working on My Yard too I bought 30 bags of mulch I need 40 more I buy 15 BAGS every two weeks black mulch looks good I use to do red mulch but change to black mulch it looks better around green trees yellow shrubs

      YES!! I started off with brown mulch but the black looks better to me too. I thought about getting a free load of wood chips from getchipdrop.com but I didn't want to shovel all that from front yard to backyard. So I purchase a lot of bagged mulch too.

    I just subscribed to your channel. Your landscape looks beautiful. Mine is a hot mess. I’ve been filming mine for UA-cam as well using what I have. I use cardboard as well and I wet it down and then I put the mulch on top of it. At least that’s what I was told. I love your flowers and plants. I want to get to that point I bought a couple of boxwoods and killed them already from this heat. I’m here in California, but I think I’m gonna have to wait until the weather cools down to try to plant anything. I’m just trying to get my messy backyard together, one thing at a time I put a new fence in. I trimmed around it with red mulch and use the scallop stones that was already there, even though I don’t like them. Repurposing that’s what I’m doing. You have frogs in have lizards and I can’t stand it. 😂😂😂

    • @AtHomewithMalaNicole
      @AtHomewithMalaNicole  2 місяці тому +1

      I LOVE IT!!! you just have to start doing a little bit at a time. I had nothing to repurpose here so I was out of luck! I use cardboard and when
      I first started last year, I would wet the cardboard then put a layer of compost then mulch. I honestly think that is the best if you are trying to improve your soil. But financially, it was too expensive to compost AND mulch my entire yard. So I just put compost in each hole when I am planting and I layer compost on top just around that plant. Eventually when the cardboard breaks down, that will improve the soil also. Good luck and I will watch your videos as well to follow your progress!

    Do paper bags work just as good as cardboard?

    • @AtHomewithMalaNicole
      @AtHomewithMalaNicole  2 місяці тому

      Hi! The paper bags work but I usually only use them right under the plants. I like cardboard better, especially since I am sheet mulching over Bermuda grass. It is extremely hard to get rid of Bermuda grass so a thick layer of cardboard would be best for a brand new flowerbed.

  • @lindaperson382

      Hi! Thanks for stopping by. The cardboard is used as a sheet mulching technique to kill the grass where I am creating a new garden bed. It is a no dig method.
