Demolition also talk about their matches against British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid) as well as Strike Force (and earlier when the team was Can-Am Connection with Tom Zenk instead of Tito Santana).

One of the best teams ever, and I could listen to them tell stories forever.
I could listen to these guys all day! Great interviews.
Heel or face, Demolition always got a pop. Always my favorite team.
If you ever wanna see a huge pop watch wrestlemania 6 when they won the tag team champs from andre and haku! just crazy loud. My favorite tag team of all time. All there interviews are great. Its weird how all these big tough guys are some of the nicest people around.
The bulldogs were incredible to watch. I think their mic skills held them back . Strike force was great to watch as well
I clicked on this solely because of Eadie and Darsow; I don't care what they talk about, I'll listen.
These guys are class acts. Their honest and they don't air the dirty laundry of their former co workers. Rare for any work place
You know, given the amount of wrestlers from that era who are no longer with us that both members from Powers of Pain AND Demolition (if you don't include Crush) are still with us. It would be super cool if the four of them could get together for an interview one day.
Fuji is no longer with us
I would like to catch that dream interview.lets keep hoping.
Fuji was 82 when he died though. That's not unreasonably young like many other workers.
Only just found this interview. I agree 100% with Ax. I loved Demolition and when Road Warriors showed up I considered them to be Demolition clones.
I met Axe at a Vermont Fair 25 years ago. Maybe even longer ago. He was the nicest guy you could ever meet.
Even tho it was crush involved, Demolition vs Hart Foundation 2/3 falls at SSlam 90 (?) is still one of the greatest tag-team matches in WWF history imo.....
Ax and Smash, very cool dudes. Respect!!!
I love that even though both Demolition and Powers of Pain were ripoffs of the Road Warriors, both of them had a look unique enough to have their own separate legacy
Much like Ventura and Hogan taking the Superstar Billy Graham look and antics but making it their own. Warrior took things from Hogan but made it his own. Demolition, like the aforementioned, retain a uniqueness
Demolition don’t get the credit they deserve when it comes to talking, never saw a bad promo
The WWF could have churned out phenomenal matches and feuds with POP, LOD, and Demolition at various times; but they totally destroyed those opportunities.
Imagine if they were a stable.
yep. they brought in Crush way to soon. I know they wanted to phase Ax into the manager role, but they should have had at least a handful of Ax/Smash vs LOD first.
@@MrRabiddogg It would have made sense for Demolition and LOD to be an unbeatable faction. Eventually, a falling out between them before WrestleMania VII. The match itself held at the event. It was a shame to have Demolition have their last WrestleMania match as jobbers to the Japanese tag team, who the fans never saw again in the United States.
Demolition and the Powers of Pain were both at their best as Heel teams. The Road Warriors were the big time faces back then. You had other teams as well, it was the largest variety of tag team talent I have ever seen in the business. Nothing today comes close because they always put on main event style matches. Tag teams have always been good because you can push multiple guys in a team. The other part was using jobbers. Jobbers helped promote the decent established teams via exposure. Sure you knew the Jobbers were going down but the exposure, the domination, made you interested in how say the Natural Disasters were going to fair against the tag champs at the next big pay per view. Now any decent team or single performer gets burned up vs. Main Eventers on TV each week. Too much of what once was a good thing to look forward to just burned it all out, wore out the business.
Look at the size of smashes arms❤ two legends and they look great
Road warriors never got me pumped the way Demolition did.
Thanks for the great memories 👍
Talking about treating them as a cartoon with the original manager. I never thought they were so over the top that they had to be build from Parts Unknown. They were believable enough like LOD, they could have been from a normal city.
Loved demolition!!!!!
La mejor pareja de todos los tiempos en la wwe...además,son de buen trato y buen sentido del humor...sobre todo Smash..
Salud y larga vida a estas dos leyendas..
👍👌✌️😇🙏🏽
Can-AM-Connection brokeup over pay disparity, Tom Zenk quit on Rick Martel cause he thought Martel was getting paid more than him something to that effect
He was, twice as much. Martel was the former AWA Heveyweight Champion that everybody knew, Zenk was really a mid-card nobody. He thought he deserved equal pay, Vince thought otherwise.
Demolition's comment is 100% on the money, though. I remember watching WWF hype Can-Am Connection, only for them to switch Martel to a different partner, and I think it lost steam as a result. (The other thing that held Strike Force back - it's hard to buy the Boston Crab as being a legitimate finisher. It seems more of a weardown move, but it's not the kind of thing you'd see people commonly tapping out to.)
Ax didn’t really remember the members of Strike Force 😂😂😂
He just wanted to be sure he got them right. Strike Force and Can-Am Connection we're pretty similar on screen.
The Road Warriors were Demolition clones? I was a fan of the WWF back then, the Road Warriors were massive in the north, everyone knew, even I as a WWF fan, knew how big the Road Warriors were...the fans cheered big time when the LOD first clashed with Demolition....
So true what they say about Lod there at the end. Demolition were the real deal and the ones that were over to Wwf fans. You could of brought Lod in as heels and the fans would of cheered hard for demolition. Think about it.. WWF had to work really hard to ruin Demolition.. all the things they did at the end to turn them heel, bringing in a third member and taking away their theme music, also changing their awesome masks to lame ones , and even making them wrestle entire matches with them on!!! Seriously, think about all that. Bill Eadie is right.
Supposedly, that was a demand made by LOD in order to sign with the WWF. Turn Demo heel or we won't come. Guess they did not want to risk being overshadowed in popularity. The things that could've been without such pettiness and egotistic demeanors.
@@KomradeKrusher Is that true ? Wow.. I never heard that one.. But it would make sense for sure considering the extremes and how quickly they diminished Demolition. It would make sense... But I've never heard Darsow or Eadie or LOD ever say that. Or anyone else for that matter.
Cool video mate
My mind is blown. That after all these years of being such a huge fan... I never know that Farva was in Demolition ... just shows how good the makeup is... I bet he has a liter of cola
Did you ever ask them how they enjoyed fighting one another as entrant 1 and 2 at the Royal Rumble in 88 i believe
I always thought Demolition was better than LOD. More gritty, smash em up, pound you to submission type tag team. LOD did too much high flying crap that looked faked.
When LOD came down aisle they looked goofy too. Demolition looked sinister.
Hence having Fuji too
If there wasn't a Demolition LOD wouldn't have been as big as they got.
Takes two teams to tango.
Vince never got that the bad guy character could get cheered too.
Even though Vince McMahon had a different vision of the wrestling business, he still stuck to old School ways of thinking with the baby faces being cheered and the heels being booed!
The Road Warriors debuted in 1983..... Demolition debuted January 13th 1987 but the Road Warriors were Demolition clones? I love and listen to almost all shoot videos and usually Bill Eady is got a great memory but he definitely missed out on this one...although he did say by the time that The Road Warriors debuted there they had already been there so I guess since Demolition was in the WWF before the Road Warriors that made them the clones but whatever everyone knows who clones who and why....Vince!!!!
Shannon Barnwell . I thought it was pretty clear in the interview that Demolition was established in the WWF and when the Road Warriors joined it made them seem like clones, to fans who didn’t really know them.
Robert T that’s basically what I said at the end of my reply
@@shannonbarnwell3114 but your whole paragraph before ...although is completely unnecessary. Its as if you started writing then finished the Video then decided erasing was too much work. No offense
Why does smash always look at ax before answering each question lol
its called respect
Ax is the senior man. Ax was the Masked Superstar in the mid 70s to the mid 80s. He was a major superstar in Japan.
It's a thing old couples do. The submissive one in the couple looks to the dominant one for approval. In this case, old tag team.
Ax is the captain of the tag team
I would have just called it true friendship
They are right Vince should have left them as heels ......
these guys deserve to be in HOF
Didn't recognize smash..lol he looks way different..ax still.looks the same tho
I love Demolition but no way in hell were the LOD clones of you. Demolition won belts in 1 federation - Road Warriors won lots of gold in various territories. If you were raised on WWF, then they would be your team. But if you were raised on NWA AWA JAPAN - Road Warriors. I know this because I am from MA and all I got was WWWF - but then we moved to DE and suddenly I got GCW NWA FCW Continental UWF - Thank god we moved
Well the WWF couldn`t get the Road Warriors then he created his own version of them and no disrespect to Demolition in any way but this was WWF`S version of L.O.D. but they had a better run than The Road Warriors did considering that Demolition held the tag titles more times and for longer reigns than L.O.D. did . Demolition were 3 time tag champs while L.O.D held them 2 times plus Demolition were champs longer . Would have loved to have seen Demolition and a L.O.D. feud over the tag titles . That would have been money . Instead they had Demolition lose to The Hart Foundation when L.O.D. got involved . Then it turned into 6 man matches with Demolition and Crush against L.O.D. and Ultimate Warrior and a few matches on tv that never amounted to much . Think that if they had kept Demolition champions and had L.O.D. come in and challenge them for the belts it would have been epic . Have them feud over them culminating in a big match at `Mania or Survivor Series, even Summerslam . Maybe even trade the titles a few times . Just my opinion . I`d say that Demolition were more technical with a little bit of smash mouth where the L.O.D. would just come in and attempt to kill their opponents .Powers Of Pain were okay but not on either team`s level imo .
Demolition against non jobber tag teams were workers. They escaped with the win and made the faces looked strong but the next day, came across after the jobber matches like they killed everybody. LOD just had that Hogan style we sqaushed you match persona. Surface looks similar but beneath was way different. And powers of pain were huge faces in WWF. Demolition is right. Double turn was way too quick and didn't make sense.
Hotstuff ...I think what they realized is that to many of those generic, sorta isolated young WWF fans....... Demolition entered the wrestling world B4 LOD.....
but Road Warriors were also in the WWF before they left and when they left the other territory trademark their name " the Road Warriors" thats why when they cameback to wwe the were called the LOD Legion of Doom
@@at1212b Excactly. Both Eadie and Darsow were such great and in the best sense unselfish workers everywhere they went. Hawk and Animal just sought to "protect their gimmick" by almost never selling and hardly working actual matches.
The only the best team before the brothers of destruction
The LOD reminded you of two Dune villains while Demolition looked like it was leather night at the gay bar.
Demolition reminds me of the gimp from Pulp Fiction.
LOD sold out arenas and were superstars until they passed.
I don't EVER see Hawk or Animal agreeing to do a Repo Man gimmick.
Look at Demolition and
Do they have HOF yet?
The Powers of Pain were a real R.I.P. off of the Road Warriors
They were, but Barbarian's athleticism made him stand out.
@@alanguages Indeed. Barbarian was the best wrestler of the four
Vince had a huge boner for the Road Warriors, but their arrival in the WWF was at the worst possible time. Demolition, Hart Foundation, and Rockers were all face teams worthy of the titles. The arrival of the Road Warriors meant all those teams plus Powers of Pain had to be killed off.
True that Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels still would have gone solo at some point. Harry Foundation could have continued with Owen Hart and Anvil. Warlord was terrible as a singles wrestler.
They look great for their age
Demolition was pretty edgy for both of those guys, but they got it over. As themselves in person just talking and handing out, it’s almost ridiculous to imagine them as those vicious powerful brutal heels. Like Vince just says bill… I want to see you in heavy metal fetish leather. Lmao!
One of you two has to pierce their nipples mkay pal? Lolol
RIP to the Z-Man
So many cool tag-teams back then with big tough guys.
Does WWE have single team left with big guys? Heavy machinery is more fat than big and Big E is a short power lifter.
Where are the big guy teams?
Demolition and Road Warriors quite weak in weight room next to Powers of Pain. POP told to let Demolition seem like they were dominating them, bad policy to be dishonest.
The Road Warriors were still the tag team. And Demolition was the clones. Just because you were first in WWF doesnt mean you were the originals. Everybody knew who the aroad Warriors were before Demolition showed up. Yes people liked Demolition but everybody was happy to see The Road Warriors beat Demolition, the copy cats.
It's weird seeing them without facepaiint!
The thing is that the Road Warriors were the most badass awesomist tag team in the world at the time and Vince wanted them to be in the WWF in the worst way. Unfortunately at the time Hawk & Animal were not ready to make that jump. They were traveling the world and every other federation in the US and winning belts everywhere,so when Vince couldn't get them he tried to create his own version of the Road Warriors with Demolition. Demolition was definitely a clone of the Road Warriors but so was The Powers Of Pain. That's how great LOD was. People were trying to emulate them and so was Vince. Unfortunately by the time the Road Warriors did go to the WWF their image as the badass tag team from the streets of Chicago would soon end because Vince turned them into a couple of goofy cartoon characters as he did just about everyone else. I absolutely hated their time in the WWF. It changed everything about them. Vince was and still is a douche bag. The Road Warriors will go down as the greatest tag team of all time but they really were only great for the first 5 years of their career. That was the most Awesomist time in wrestling. The Road Warriors ruled tag team wrestling with an iron fist. They were the best tag team ever bar none.
I feel like wwf missed huge opportunities with demolition, lod and powers of pain. To me, you are correct in stating that Vince tried to get them(lod) back in 1986 but couldn't. Created demolition in Jan of 87 and they became popular so much so that they had to turn good guys. Then came in powers of pain as good guys but ultimately didn't get the demolition type pops from the crowd hence the double switch at survivor series 1988. I thought pop should have held the tag belts a lil bit as it would make some sense. The title change to the brain busters was dumb in my opinion. In early of 1990, just after royal rumble in January, McMahon signed the road warriors and they finished out their nwa contracts at the time and debuted in June I believe. Upon this, McMahon started to clear lods path. He eliminated the powers of pain for some unknown reason. Each member went into singles action with a new manager. At the time, demolition had lost the tag belts to andre and haku, but needed to hurry up and get the belts off them because andre went downhill fast and literally couldn't wrestle at all. The initial plan was to have andre/haku beat demolition, and keep the belts until summerslam 90 when lod would have taken them from the unsuccessful demolition team. Plans changed and demos beat andre and haku at mania 6. Ax became sick so crush came in and at that point, McMahon started making demolition hated so lod would be popular. I hated it so much. Wwf ruined demolition. Even with crush they could have had it work.
The Roadies were the best tag team ever, but Demolition are the best WWF tag team ever !
Barbarian had the greatest NAME ever !
I also liked the Berzerker name...
@@mrdubes1 yeah
I also think the Crusher and Ox Baker were great too!
The Roadies?
Berserker to me was just useless
Lod was pre demolition
DBS was 275 lbs shredded, how is that not big lol...
He may have been talking about his height
@@ty2704 I’m from western canada.. you should have seen Davey pre steroids!! 160lbs! He was about 5’11 max… I stood right beside them in the locker room. Dynamite was about 5’9.
Sorry Bill, but your memory is a little off, because you, & Randy (ORIGINAL DEMOLITION) debuted in Springfield, Massachusetts (My Hometown) @ a House Show, but everyone kept screaming “MOONDOG” @ Randy, so he had to be replaced!
My god what happened to you guys😅😅 wwe Hall of Fame..
I would take Road Warriors over Demolition any day of the week.
I really liked Demolition BUT………… They aren't better than the Legion of Doom #STOPIT #revisionisthistory
Demolition were much better workers. Their matches have stood the test of time far better than LOD's have.
@@jonedepth9164 agreed. I really didn’t give Demolition enough credit until Lod came in.. then side by side… the LOD limitations were apparent. I hadn’t watched them all that much in the awa or Crockett… I remember the subtle disappointment I didn’t want to admit after watching them in wwf. The fact is, barbarian was light years ahead of all of them! The demos were second.
Darsow is a clown. Jealousy? Yea, he was jealous of the Road Warriors not the other way around.
