It always pained me that they didn’t use his immunity gimmick he acquired after Survivor Series 2001. Also he had the dopest theme. I created a stable on the N64 No Mercy game and that was our collective music.

I agree regarding the immunity gimmick... they could have him doing all sorts of things... trashing the ring and backstage area, assaulting everyone in sight, from other wrestlers to the announcers to Vince himself, and just as Vince as about to give him the "YOU'RE FIRED", he could remind him that he won the Immunity Battle Royal and therefore couldn't fired until November 2002 at the earliest
It has been a while , a really long time since I decided to mention a very short conversation with Drew. I had known him 28 years and his early days 21 22 years old we were in sales together and worked side by side. I remember him telling me that he was going to be a professional wrestler. I knew it was a dream of his, then all of a sudden he was gone. The next thing I knew was he signed with ( at the time) WWF which ofcourse became WWE. I had not been able to reach him until he show up in my old neighborhood. I didnt realize he was looking for me until my mother called and said Andrew came by to see you. I met with him later at one of our favorite hang out spots. Drew had told me and kept me up to speed on what he felt was really going on. He did a personal feelings for steph, no dought. Truthfully, as the media would and WWE would say that that broke his heart. No, no so much. Not according to my long time friend. I remember Drew a few months before his passing he told me that he felt as if he had been used. Which in turn made him feel useless. I will not go into detail but I will say this.....Drew ( Test) seen what others could not. Almost as if he knew he was more than a foot in the ground. R.I.P. brother....I'm sure not only me but many still miss you terribly....
Actually I can see how he would have felt used. He totally was, even though it may not have been intentional. It's almost as if Trips took his spot. I mean I know this is all a story line, but still. Test had a bunch bigger role in the future of wresting since he was directly involved in the beginning of what ended up becoming a permanent storyline that got mixed with real life. So if he did have feelings for Steph than one could think that he should be now where Trips is. But I don't know the dynamics of Trips and Stephs initial relationship since things can get blurred between the storyline relationship, and the real one. Now I'm a totally straight male, but have some sense of the female psych. Steph might be a bit different since she is used to being around muscular guys, but most women I've met would, based on physical appearance, would be much more attracted to Drew.
Its sadistic how the company distances from him as he died from drug abuse. They just want their image to be clean and completely forget his contribution.
If only Andrew had known how his fans truly felt about him, he might still be with us today. I remember the last time that I saw him... I gave him a hug that lifted him off his feet; and told him that I was proud of him. Even then, I saw in his face that he was still the small town boy that he always was; and that deep down, he wasn't happy. If only I could have said, or done something to intervene... my friend might still be with us. Andrew was, as Bret said, one if the good ones. 😢👍
@@ryanoz5374 Yes. I worked with him in nightclubs and bars... fought beside him, literally shoulder to shoulder... partied with him and other friends... etc... He asked me to go with him and another friend to train at Brett Hart's ranch, but I chose to pursue a career in Information Technology (which turned out to be the right choice for me). The three of us were the same height; and I was closer to Andrew's build, while our friend George was barrel-chested. I knew that Andrew could do well in the WWF/WWE, but being on the road so much... I suspect that he missed his family and friends.
Test should have defeated Triple H for the WWF Title, even if he lost it a few days later. Thanks for the video, love your channel, especially the excellent Reliving the War series!
His music themes made me feed into him more and more. His ECW (wwe version) run felt depressing more so because he was kept a less important wrestler til the end.
One of your best videos my friend. Test was very underrated at the time and died way too young. Keep up the good work. By far the best wrestling channel on UA-cam
I think you will find that not many people liked Test. He was way too egotistical and thought he was the star of the show. He came on a tour in Australia and his deal was, He HAD to win, and he HAD to be the biggest wrestler in the ring. It had been planned for him to wrestle Nathan Jones, but Jones was maybe 6 inches taller than Test, so he refused to wrestle. That's why he never got far in the WWE. (And of course, his drug problems).
Awww, this turned out to be a sad video in the end. I was a teenage girl when the whole Test/Steph storyline happened and I lapped it up, lol. Sadly he lost so much momentum when HHH swooped in at the end and basically robbed him of all of his heat. And he was doomed to the midcard after that.
I started watching in 2001 and he was one of my favs. Looking back he had a really good look and had mastered the basics in the ring. With some more experience and a steady push he could have been a big deal
Thanks for the upload. Test was an underrated talent. R.I.P. I remember him fondly by his relationship with Stacy Keibler. I thought he was a good wrestler. It's real shitty he got released from his contract from the WWE because of his neck injury. Unless your Austin, or the Rock you'll lose your spot. I really hope some of the guys acknowledged his death. I know I did, and I wasn't even in the business. I was shocked. To be a professional wrestler in the WWE now a days is an acquired taste. You'll either end up feeling fine when you retire from the business and find success outside of the ring if you're superstar , or you will become a drug addict, and die real young if you don't take good care of yourself as man. To be dependent on pills everyday to help you function and do your job well as a wrestler 300 days out of the year is brutal. Mad respect to those guys. What wrestlers go through is much worse than the NBA, the NFL and the MLB, in terms of traveling, driving, training, injuries, and working non-stop.
the WWE has Test's blood all over their hands and they know it. Their blantant misuse of his talents led to his undoing. This is why they choose to 'forget' this man. I remember him coming in and he was AWESOME. The total package. Such a shame. RIP buddy.
Even if they misused him in the company, how is that having blood their hands? That's quite the leap there. He died from his drug problem, but all the same rip to Test.
@@DevilSurvivor69 yeah you right it is, but I wrote this two years ago so idk what I was feeling at the time I wrote this. Test was one of my favorite wrestlers looking back. He did his cocky/heel character on Raw so well that I keyfabe hated him. He was awesome to watch in ECW. I had the honor of seeing him wrestle twice at house shows, 2001 (against Haku) and 2003 (against Scott Steiner)

MY BOY! You can fight me on that one, Jay Hunter. Seriously, I'm a huge fan in retrospect for Test, and I think, much like Ken Shamrock, that if Test had his push during the Ruthless Agression era, then he would've been a main event guy.
I don't care what anyone says: I think that if Triple H hadn't screwed over both Test and Chyna (and through essentially the same storyline, no less), they *might* still be with us. Test was taller/more handsome and was building momentum, so I have no doubt Triple H would have seen him as someone who w/could take his spot.
HHH always hating on someone. He 1st said Test was to green for DX, then stole Steph afterwards. HHH didn't like The Rock at first and I truly believe Bret when he said HHH was the brainstorm of the screw job. pshh
Always was a great performer. It's a shame to hear he had such a hard time keeping his head above water in the WWE. What a missed(or not fully utilized) opportunity. The Full-Nelson Slam and Pump-Handle Slam were iconic and always executed superbly; a technical brawler -- much like I enjoy about The Acolytes style. R.I.P. Test

Awesome was literally awesome. And Sean O'Haire, I don't understand what they did with him. Any company would have loved to have a guy his size who moved like he did. The way you handled that last section was very respectful and professional and I really almost felt like tearing up just thinking how Test turned out, a young talent who was gone far too soon. Hearing him give that quote only a short while before he passed gave me some serious eerie vibes, as sadly he became a part of the group he didn't want to. It's a tragic story all around of someone who could've and perhaps should've went further in wrestling than he did, and the fact that it was cut short and he's essentially forgotten now is even sadder.

OMG That was one of the saddest life and career of's
ive seen by far. It was The Test interview at the end of his life
That got me.When he said he'd been to 8 funerals at 32 and
Doesn't want to be burried next to them.I properly feel for Andrew Martin after this vid.RIP TEST
Andrew (Test) between classes in High School would walk passed you in the hallway and throw his toothpick at you, while saying “Hey Chico”. This was at 16 years old. He had a wrestling passion and personal vision. Think about him and miss him all the time.
one of the reasons why I have long hair is because growing up all my favorite pro wrestlers had long hair ,triple H, Shawn Michaels, The Hardy boys, edge and Christian and Test. Test was one of my favorites when I was a kid and I remember being heartbroken when I heard that he passed away
#TestForHOF
This might be one of the BEST EPISODES you've ever done! Amazing details!
Todd Richardson unfortunately, it’s the best because it’s such a sad story! He was knocked back too many times
It always pained me that they didn’t use his immunity gimmick he acquired after Survivor Series 2001.
Also he had the dopest theme. I created a stable on the N64 No Mercy game and that was our collective music.
2001 was the year of Test. I don't care what anyone says. While the Invasion era is critically panned, I thought Test was the MVP of that time.
Chancellor Karla but who better than Kanyon? He was the Alliance MVP. I have the t-shirt somewhere!
@@chancellorkarla6884 that would have been rvd but after Booker t test would be in that convo..... side note tajirri should have been in the alliance too
One of my favorite games of all-time and favorite game system. Except for that glitch that wouldn't allow the created women to win the overall game. It would turn the girls into the default guy and reset the whole game. 🎮😂😂
I miss him as a wrestling fan. You miss him as a friend. I so sorry for your loss, brother. Thank you for sharing that!
Do you mean he had actual feelings for steph ?
Sorry for your loss 😢😢😢
Its sadistic how the company distances from him as he died from drug abuse. They just want their image to be clean and completely forget his contribution.
Damn good Bio on Test, not gonna lie, the ending with how his outlook on the business and Bret Hart's quote got me....... R.I.P......
you know him personally ?
@@ryanoz5374
Yes.
Trips is nothin more than a brown noser. He did Test dirty.
@@Machete87 not only Test but many others including Booker T
that would have bin a awesome feel good moment.....probably why wwe purposely put hhh over lol
His match against Shane O Mac was fantastic
@@ComicBookGuy420 Agreed. Doesn't get talked about as much as it should
His music themes made me feed into him more and more. His ECW (wwe version) run felt depressing more so because he was kept a less important wrestler til the end.
One of your best videos my friend. Test was very underrated at the time and died way too young. Keep up the good work. By far the best wrestling channel on UA-cam
Agree. By far the best wrestling channel on youtube (and I seen A LOT). And yes died too young. Drugs boy
Damn this still hurts 💔 RIP Test 🙏🙏🙏🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️ he will never be forgotten rest easy bro 😢
Dang wrestling bio have evolved so much from a small youtube channel
He was actually one of my favorites. He had lots of potential. Thanks for this bio! 😏
Test was very underatted I felt he should've been bigger then what he actually was.
Seems he could have been everything Batista went on to be had he got the correct backing
Test was way better than Nash even from the get go.
Triple H and his boys obviously just didn't like the guy for whatever reason.
They were both jealous of Test body
They were way too egotistical to help a young buck get over alongside them
@@davidedwards3361 Sounds exactly like HHH and Shawn Michaels.
Cause he was a stud.
Thank you for this video!
Finally!! The GREATEST mid-carder of all time. IMHO.
Sorry, he was good and I'm a fan, but Mr Perfect was the best mid carder ever
@@manaiabull indeed. Perfect and Rude
I never considered Perfect and Rude as pure mid-carders. More bottom of the top-level talents. If I were to see them in that light, then I agree.
William Steven Regal was the best mid carder ever. That's not opinion, that's just fact
He was one of my favorites during the invasion, such a gem.
Test, this is a Test, Test, Test, This is a Test
Here we go, bring your name, we can hold peace.
I always had a soft spot for Andrew and was always a wrestler I'd keep an eye out for. Also was one of my friends on MySpace. Such a shame
Never noticed the similar looks between test and nash
Well, it said early on in the video that he was viewed "as a more handsome version of Nash"
Thank you for keeping his memory alive.
I started watching in 2001 and he was one of my favs. Looking back he had a really good look and had mastered the basics in the ring. With some more experience and a steady push he could have been a big deal
I thought he was signed to TNA for a while but that company did nothing with him.
Yes!!! Thank you Wrestling Bios I have been waiting for Test 👍🏼
Wow, thanks for this one. Test was one of my favorites growing up.
I was a BIG MARK for Test, Loved him when i was younger, And his entrance music was one of my favs back in the day! Great vid!
HHH did Test Dirty ...
Nothing new... He kills so many careers
He really did
Yeah. As well as Chyna, Sting, Booker T, Scott Steiner, Goldberg, DDP and any credible WCW alumni
He will live a great life on this world but just wait until judgement says when God is like instead of helping your fellow brother you hurt them
...which amazes me how Chris Jericho made it out to look so good,
@@tyvillianheartthrob1856
Thank you for creating this video! There's not enough love for Andrew "Test" Martin
the WWE has Test's blood all over their hands and they know it. Their blantant misuse of his talents led to his undoing. This is why they choose to 'forget' this man. I remember him coming in and he was AWESOME. The total package. Such a shame. RIP buddy.
Yes blame WWE for the man's personal decisions and choices. Obv R.I.P Test but you're a fool
Even if they misused him in the company, how is that having blood their hands? That's quite the leap there. He died from his drug problem, but all the same rip to Test.
@@DevilSurvivor69 yeah you right it is, but I wrote this two years ago so idk what I was feeling at the time I wrote this. Just seemed like one thing lead to another and it could have been avoided and I think that if he had continued on the push that he was currently on instead of it getting stopped in his tracks by certain people who were afraid of losing their spot that things MAYBE could have been different.
The man dated Stacy Keibler was dating Kelly Kelly when he checked out, so atleast he went out on a super high note.
Was he banging Steph or was that just kayfabe?

The video almost makes it seem like they had a thing outside of kayfabe. I've never heard of her being with anyone besides Trips, though.

God this drew a few tears mate, very poignant and moving.
Remember Test being criminally underused in WWE and unfortunately another victim of HHH shovel as if I need more reason to dislike Hunter
Felt so sorry for him when watching how talented he was and not getting the push he really deserved but he wasn't the 1st in that position and wasn't the last either
That quote he said a year prior really hit me, you can tell how much of a toll the industry took on him but he tried to survive but sadly didn't
I will never forget Andrew "Test" Martin. R.I.P.
Beautiful tribute to Test. This channel always handles stories like this with great care.

Been waiting for this one, this is a Test
Honestly, Test is up there with some of the best stars of the Attitude Era
MY BOY! You can fight me on that one, Jay Hunter. Seriously, I'm a huge fan in retrospect for Test, and I think, much like Ken Shamrock, that if Test had his push during the Ruthless Agression era, then he would've been a main event guy.
I liked both those guys and I agree with you. I think Test would've run into the walls known as Jonh Cena, HHH, or Batista if he stayed though.
Test is in your boy stable
@@Thebossstage1 Yep. Test, Shamrock, Rene Dupree, Dan Severn, Corey Graves, and Nikki Cross.

Thank you very much for this. Your commentary was just great and I did shed a tear at the very end. Thank you for all the great content.
HHH didn't like The Rock at first and I truly believe Bret when he said HHH was the brainstorm of the screw job. pshh
HHH was jealous of The Rock's superstardom.
Who cares?

Always was a great performer. It's a shame to hear he had such a hard time keeping his head above water in the WWE. What a missed(or not fully utilized) opportunity. The Full-Nelson Slam and Pump-Handle Slam were iconic and always executed superbly; a technical brawler -- much like I enjoy about The Acolytes style. R.I.P. Test
He was criminally underrated. He was really putting in Work during the Invasion. He just seemed to get lost in the shuffle after that. I thought he could have gotten a US Title run, when they moved him to ECW I thought they were gonna put the ECW Title on him.

most intense big men ever:
Test, Sean O'Haire, Mike Awesome ... and they're all dead ....
Awesome was literally awesome. And Sean O'Haire, I don't understand what they did with him. Any company would have loved to have a guy his size who moved like he did. His Swanton Bomb made Jeff Hardy's look like backyard wrestling. The first time I saw him land one, he rolled through into a crouched position on one knee, arms extended to each side, his head tilted up slightly to look into the hard cam. I could not believe what I had just seen was done by a guy who was 6'7" and weighed about 260. Sorry for the long reply, just O'Haire oozed skill and potential and they couldn't have cared less.
@@carpepesci Cornette says when he had Sean in OVW, he and his brother would go to bars to start fights and there was always lawsuits and incidents around him so maybe the company you keep sometimes. Be that as it may I was always a fan of O'Haire's work.

This legitimately my favorite channel. I really appreciate the quality of all the videos you've been putting out
HHH just casually throwing out that he should have a relationship with Stephanie... HHH only ever did business for himself, it wasn't an innocent, casual comment. It was a play for more power (at the cost of yet another wrestler).
I had the pleasure of meeting Test when I was 12. In late 2007 Test replied to a few fan messages I sent him. This was before Twitter was the norm.

I always thought Test was a very solid performer. It's a shame the way things played out. Thanks for putting out a documentary that remembers his contributions.
His running boot was flawless
Test is the only guy who can make a running boot look like a finisher
Let’s start a petition for Test to be remembered and inducted into the hall of fame. He always did what was asked of him in storylines! I vote for Bret Hart to induct his fellow Canadian! We love you Andrew Martín and you are missed to this day R.I.P champ!
I don't know if you'll ever see this comment, but I've been binging your videos lately after seeing them in my recommended so often, but this has to be one of your best videos I've seen yet imo.
It really is a damned shame that he died so young. He was one of my favorite wrestlers back in those days.
Just stumbled across this in my feed, great stuff! Subscribed! I was a big fan of Test and always thought he deserved more. Such a shame.
