Never played X/Y or Sun/Moon they were the two games I never played because i was getting busier with school, which sucks but oh well. Also I’m sure I am not alone, I would love to see more of George in future videos, even as an ending or in the sponsorships. He is adorable.
When we get the XY remakes, we could totally get an expansion to other kinda stuff in the pokemon world, such as showcases given equal importance as gyms for Shauna to be a rival, and other kinda stuff like dancing or media for Tierno as a rival, then maybe making the pokedex an actual plot for Trevor I guess.
@@ethancarlson2871 I was 5 too and I wanted this game but I never got it. 10 years later my first game was SwSh and I'm sat here playing through the pokemon lineage on my 3DS.
The release of heartgold and soulsilver in japan is now further away (13 years 7 months and 16 day) than pokemon red and green were when hgss was released in japan (13 years 6 months and 16 days)
the true existential terror for me is that Pokemon Emerald is nearly 19 years old. I grew up on that game, and my very first video game ever, Pokemon Gold, is nearly as old as me as it released in NA 22 years ago. God I feel old D:
CandyEvie: "And in 5 to 10 years, when the nostalgia for X and Y reaches it's peak, you can bet Mega Evolution you can bet Megas will be coming back in a really big way." GameFreak: "Nah, how does 2 years sound?"
I love how Luvie complains about not being able to get the boy only clothes, as if she doesn't know we got the short end of the stick with our customization options.
@@CaptainCFalcon It's not that I hated the customization options for guys, it's that theres way less clothes for guys than girls in most pokemon games.
literally the hardest part of X and Y was that furfrou puzzle in the mansion. the amount of trauma i still have from trying to trap that thing for a month was terrifying 💀💀
I think my favorite part of the story regarding Lysandre was that in Pokemon Y he totally died- but in Pokemon X there's a chance he's just stuck under all that rubble, immortal.
@@c0mpu73rguy Interesting. I only found mentions of the dialogue. I love him as a villain and I'm open to all endings, but I do love a good tragic villain forced to live eternally.
@@doukzu If he didn't died in Y, he's probably not cursed with eternal life in X either. Not that he would need it anyway, people don't die in pokemon (except spoiler in you know what game), look at old Oak that should be nearing his 100th birthday now.
@@c0mpu73rguy I mean, Kalos has an NPC canonically die in game, so people do die. But regardless, Lysandre *is* probably alive and immortal in both X and Y. Yveltal still powers the weapon with life energy, not death energy
@@Shinntoku Lysandre didn't die, there is an NPC speaking about seeing him in the endgame apparently (I'm pretty sure he became immortal like the big guy). There is only one confirmed (human) death in the whole game franchise so far and I won't you tell where or else I'll ruin it for you.
X and Y will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the Pokémon game that brought me back into Pokémon and made me love Pokémon like it was my first time playing it.
Same here! I played X in 2022 months after I got my 3ds. Meaning I've played that game and grinded all mainline games and PLA chronologically till Scarlet and Violet just to catch up.
The music and looks of X and Y has got to be incredible. They really put all their hearts into the 3D graphics, they made the game look so beautiful and sound so new.
@@CalebNewbery That is the fattest lie I've ever seen in my life. Just say you want to find any and all excuses to hate on the newest pokemon game and shut up
As an adult who had X as her first game, this hits hard. This means I’ve officially been a pokemon fan for 10 years.😭 Shoutout to Fred the Delphox, my first ever pokemon.
My little sister released my Chespin, so instead my makeshift starter was a Panpour named Geyser. There was also a Luvdisc named Mr Beast, but that's besides the point.
It's really good that the anime of X and Y was probably one of the best seasons-it really added more necessary depth to Kalos that we never actually got to see, and I'm incredibly grateful for that.
started binging the xy anime because of peoples chatter about it, plus nostalgia since I loved the first 20 or so eps as a kid. My GOD this series is fun as hell
I am SO VINDICATED to hear somebody calling out the fact that gen 5 was hated when it came out (It was my first game and I LOVED IT when it came out, but when I called it a good game at school, I would start a goddamn war). I just really like the fact that it's at least being called a good game today because for a while, I thought I was going crazy because all my friends act like this game was never hated.
Haha, I feel the same way as you buddy. I searched up pokemon x y on the internet because none of my friends played pokemon games and I so disappointed to know that literally no one liked x y.
Right? Like I genuinely had fun with the game, it was the last game that I played where I felt any sort of need to actually "train" my pokemon, and a lot of the designs from that game are some of my favorite YES I DO LIKE THE GEARS WITH CLOWN NOSES WHAT ABOUT IT?!?!
@@stephenkrahling1634 well... I wont say that I dissagree about your love for the Gears, but I'll say that gen 5 has some of the best pseudo legendaries of the whole series.
I really enjoyed XY too the music was enjoyable and it had some of my all time favourite pokemon never understood the hate about it heck my brother thought "wait since he likes pokemon how about i give pokemon Y as a birthday present" a few years back and i loved it
I just recently replayed X and while the rivals were forgettable, I really, really liked the character of Sycamore. There was some sorta internal turmoil going on with him. He actually mentions that he's bad at battles. He's like, take these Pokemon away from me, they deserve better. Bruh. Later if you talk to the right people at the tower of mastery you learn that he tried and failed to master mega evolution. Dexio and Sina are hilarious too, and fully deserve the extra love they got in Sun and Moon. The little masks and scarves are cute as hell. I liked that Sycamore was the one who introduced you to Lysander because they were friends. He tells you all about what a cool and trustworthy guy this sexy man is. After Lysander snapped literally Dexio and Sina are all like, yo, we're with the professor, he's not great. They're like, listen, this is a children's game. We're just saying he can't be left alone, alright. He's having a hard time. Jesus christ. And then after the whole near destruction of the world, he literally finds you and APOLOGIZES to you. He says he blames himself for not seeing it coming. Like, dude, you're good!!! I'm the one who pushed the red button anyways!!! I have Xernias right here and they say they're fine too!!!! Sycamore is the moodiest, Frenchiest beanpole out there. Take the yellow paint away from him, Sina. Get this guy some Zoloft and pop music. How terribly relatable. THIS is escapism? In all the other games up until this point there's no explanation for why the professors or champs didn't help with the crisis of the day. XY just kinda decided Sycamore didn't help because he's bad at Pokemon and then they make you feel sorry for him. It's perfect. It's really good. I love it. Those three are like a cute little wholesome polycule or something. Glad he's got people looking out for him. Feel better Sycamore bisoux!!!!
It's funny how I forgot about Calem even though there was a whole thing about how me and my sister pronounce his name. If you watch the anime, you know Serena. But Calem wasn't in the anime. (I don't think so at least?)
I started getting into Pokémon just as X&Y came out, so the nostalgia I get just seeing any Pokémon related around that time just makes me feel happy, from the games, to the anime, even the cards. All of it just reminds me why I love Gen 6, and Pokémon as a whole.
samee, i remember the ads on tv were about BW2, and later XY, I started pokemon around there with Black 2 on a dsi xl! i got my first 3ds last November with my own money and im playing through Y, it's so neat
I got into Pokémon around when Diamond and Pearl came out, but I didn't play those games. Instead, I played Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time and watched the DP anime. I only got into mainline Pokémon games when X and Y came out.
Thank you for this :) . XY may not have been perfect games, but they absolutely deserve a love letter and being recognized for what they DID bring to the franchise.
Dexit? Flying pokemon not being allowed to land despite how ridiculous some looks? Player characters now all looking the same because of player customization? Oh yeah, so much good stuff... (oh and that other comment is a scam by the way, ignore and report it)
@@jamesgiles4517 I’ve heard it has the biggest regional dex but idk if that’s still true or not, also they mentioned flying Pokémon always in air in battle but SV completely undid that choice
@@c0mpu73rguy do you even know what pokemon XY is? Your complaints are valid but not for XY, but for sword shield…… XY had the national dex and started customization, in 2013
X & Y actually were my first Pokemon games and they got me hooked into the series as a whole. I think they're far from the best Pokemon games but despite that, they're the ones I love the most.
same same same Favorite doesn't mean Perfect or Flawless, it's ones that captured your heart, and Pokemon X & Y did the same for me They weren't my first-first games, but they were the first Pokemon games I played after a 10+ year hiatus.
i remember when sylveon was first announced, a friend of mine showed me it during a sleepover and i thought it was the cutest eeveelution ever, i still do. sadly X and Y would apparently be the last game they'd release that would have a new eeveelution
People can look back and criticise but if you grew up playing pokemon, the feeling you got seeing that Fletchling fly around your bedroom in 3d for the first time felt absolutely incredible - complete game changer.
x and y are quite possibly my favorite pokemon games, and i hold them very close to my heart. it's hard to believe they're a decade old now. i love xy so much, and it makes me really happy whenever i see them get appreciated
Agreed, X was my very first and even though I'm a major pokemon fan now back then it was my whole personality lol I miss it, and I miss how new things felt around that era of Pokémon. Might just be nostalgia talking though 😅
X/Y was my first set of games, and they're my very biased favorites. Mega Evolutions are still my favourite generation-specific mechanic and it's a shame they haven't come back.
Hopefully they get around to remaking them one day. (Well, ofc. Most likely after gen 5 remakes, since the last remakes were gen 4.) Maybe they'll make Pokemon Z or an equivalent to it along with remakes like with Diamond and Pearl, having Legends Arceus?
I mean, they did return in all of the gen 7 games (including let's go), but yeah. At least they'll return in gen 6 remakes when they eventually happen.
X and Y introduced some things that im still fairly upset never got included into other games, and im not just talking about Mega Evolutions. The star restaurants were my favorite thing. It was a good way to make money, and farm exp. I also agree with the clothing option stuff, every other game has given the option for customizable clothes but I think Kalos' are still the best. I also liked the berry farming becauae it felt like I worked for and earned everything I harvested lol. Im also upset that the cafes that gave you dex entries never really went further. There have been ways to have "seen" pokemon without battling them in other games but I really like the idea of being able to go to a place and fill in random dex entries for a small in game fee. I just wish they had more than a handful of pokemon that would be shown off and would actually just show you any random dex entry Editing to add that people have wanted more gyms based on "gimmicks" rather than types and the restraunts were also pretty good with that especially the last one.
Something with XY really rubbed me the right way. I think first because it was the first 3D main game, so I could finally see pokemons fighting in 3D and closer to a cinematic battle I always had in my head, but then the game had the gall to be so.... ADORABLE!! Everything about the game felt so cute! The map based on France, the orchestral music (seriously, why the starter town's theme go so hard!?), the emotional plot with the tall immortal bruh, the majestic X legendary, Fairy Types, and even the tiny detail that all Tourist-class trainers have japanese names made me feel like the only way to put XY in a word is "Delightful".
I rented a copy of Pokemon Y when I first bought my 2DS and I really enjoyed the entire experience. I didn't have/know about Pokemon Bank at the time, so I couldn't keep anything from my saves until much later after I bought Sun and a copy of Omega Ruby on the same day when Sun released, but I still had a great time. It got me back into Pokemon, which I had quit back when Pokemon Black/White bored me and forced me to realize I had become disinterested in the changes the series was making (constantly animated 2D sprites didn't do it for me, everything looked so pixelated; and the excess 3D that DPPt and HGSS started was only getting more excessive and ruining the aesthetic of 2D Pokemon). So having a big 3D Pokemon game that *finally* added player customization was awesome. I was hooked. Eventually I got my own copy of Pokemon X down the line, and ultimately I did enjoy Pokemon Sun the most despite the excess of dialogue in it mainly because of the refreshing new region and its trials (plus regional forms!), but I will always remember XY fondly. I remember my first, well maybe not *first* but *early* wonder trade where I got a random Darmanitan that I had never really seen before and wound up using moments later against the Cyllage City gym leader. That was pretty cool. And Pokemon Amie, letting you play with your Pokemon with some nifty minigames that I became somewhat obsessed with for a little while. It was all great. Megas were genuinely just the cherry on top of what was a very exciting entry in the Pokemon series. I will miss the many cool forms we got from them. Hard to believe people disliked XY and complained about them a lot online for a while. I never understood it. They were fantastic.
x was my first pokemon game 😭😭😭 i was five when it came out and i remember accidentally hitting “yes” for the nickname option. i still have my delphox named “FENNEKIN”. hurts to know it’s been 10 years
I'm old enough to have played every game as it came out. X & Y I feel have always been very underrated for everything they brought to the series. I definitely put them up there as one of my favorite gens.
I also started in gen 1 Pokémon red It's faster if I name what games I missed Played most of them And gen6 is the best gen It took me a while to get used to it because it's really different from the traditional vibe of Pokémon which is adventure epic exploration Into chill friendship vacations memories nostalgia costumization interactions I feel like Gen 6 is the border the separator from past and present in which Pokémon stopped being about the players and our journey to conquer a new region To it's about the Pokémon and their world being presented to us we getting to know the region better It's not about our journey to the top but the regions themselves welcoming us Once I understood this switch and accepted this different mindset in how different gen 1 to 5 was compared to gen 6 till today Gen 6 quickly became my goat
Yeah agreed, I think too many people are quick to judge them because of the long tutorial, but the story was actually good, USUM's... slightly less but still good, but also I think that's made up for with all the extra game modes and Pokemon they gave us, gen 7 was a good gen no matter how you look at it. Even the trials, I liked them, a unique thing, that hadn't technically been done in the franchise before... I say technically because season 2 of the anime, the Orange Island gyms function very similarly, which is why I'd hoped with PE's announcement, we'd get them as like sister islands to the Sevii Isles... sadly we didn't even get the Sevii Isles.
as long as its not SM's dlc, USUM, of course imagine making a milf villain so cruel that you need to retcon her evilness to make her a "misunderstood anti-hero"
@@nathanblumprazeres3617 What DLC?... oh you mean USUM in general was DLC even though it wasn't? That wasn't a retcon, it's as much of a retcon as Yellow, Crystal, Emerald or Platinum, it's a 3rd game, an alternate reality, a what if scenario. It showed different contrasts to the alignment chart, she's on complete opposite ends, chaotic evil in SM, then lawful good in USUM. Showing that evil is still evil, that 2 wrongs don't make a right, events can have different types of impacts on people, even 1 individual may go through multiple different things, along with many other lessons. Thus the contrast of the games, Sun, Moon, and Star, they're all different things, function differently, but at the end of the day still provide light, unless that light is taken away from them in the case of Star, aka Necrozma, a living black hole, which was caused by human intervention, thus creating several other messages. That and their ties to alchemy, that Solgaleo and Lunala are based off things that take their celestial bodies and consume them, while in the end Necrozma was doing just that in consuming either Solgaleo or Lunala to try and regain what it once was, much like Kyurem, but will never be completely whole ever again, no matter how it satiates its' hunger. Human greed and gluttony, especially during the age of alchemy, there are a lot of parallels to humanity and how we work. That Ultra Necrozma is gold, the alchemical symbol for God, the perfection of all matter on any level, mind, soul, and spirit. Meanwhile its shiny is platinum, something even further beyond. I don't disagree that was a weak point, especially since I don't see why that'd make Lillie or Gladion run away, but that was the intent of it, and USUM had a lot of other great things SM didn't to make up for that.
Pokémon X&Y will always have a special place in my heart because it’s the first pokemon game I played since Red. I was one of the people who got a 3DS for my birthday just to play it and I kept that save for years until recently when I traded all my most memorable pokemon to bank/home and reluctantly reset my game to replay it. Kalos is still my favorite region to this day and I truly do hope we get to see it again someday soon.
Pokémon Z was such a missed opportunity and makes me cry every time I think about how cool it could’ve been 😭🥲 still hoping for Pokémon Z when Kalos remakes comes out

seeing all the love for x and y made me tear up a little. gen 6 is my favorite generation and it just brings me joy seeing it get the appreciation it damn well deserves.
Honestly, X and Y are kinda my favorite. i loved that there was so much to do that brought me back to towns I had already been to. The battle chateau was a great way to level up or earn money , the pokemon daycare/breeder was a cute spot, the berry fields to grow and harvest berries, the big city where I could change up my Frou Frou, battle for a meal, or make pokemon videos. Plus the fact that I could increase my pokemon stats by feeding them pokepuffs was adorable. I wish the newer games included more side activities
X and Y are the only games that feel actually unfinished there’s so much that feels like it was meant to have a follow up of some kind. The ghost girl, the train station message, zygarde etc
Exactly. Thats the issue. Most Pokemon games are well received because many of their issues where fixed with a third game. Emerald, Platinum, HGSS, B&W2, UMUS and even the DLC for SWSD and SV
I agree that Kalos is the prettiest region. Walking around Laverre City and seeing all the foliage just gives me good vibes. Seeing foliage is my favorite part about living in a cold region like the American Northeast. And it reminds me of when I was a kid living along the Hudson River and seeing all the colorful trees on the Hudson Palisades whenever I took a train into NYC. The Metro-North's Hudson Line is one of the most scenic railway lines the US has to offer. And because of the Northeast climate, we have a different Vivillon pattern from most of the US (the other US patterns are Modern and High Plains) called Polar, which is also the pattern in much of Canada, Alaska, and southern Argentina and Chile. And while sure the Gym Leaders were very much easy, the Kalos Gyms are the best design wise. I mean, the surprise of walking to the middle of what looks like a normal building in the Anistar Gym and seeing it all disappear as it turns into a sphere surrounded by a night sky with different galaxies and constellations was mind-blowing because it was something I didn't expect when I first played. Not to mention the stunning Coumarine Gym and the fact the first ever Fairy gym at Laverre City is a GIANT DOLLHOUSE...well played.
I had an orange tabby named George. He was always laying in my bed with me when I would stay up late playing my pokemon games, X and Y included. Sadly he got stomach cancer and is no longer with me, but he gave me some of the best memories for the fifteen years I had him. I hope your George brings you as much joy as mine did Evie.
It was my first pokemon game, I got it in 2014 and I loved it so much, I've replayed it 2 or 3 times now, I still love it so much, so I totally get the nostalgia lol
Slow battles, 3d that forced GF do stop putting every pokemon in the following games (which wouldn't have happened if pokemon games had stayed sprite based), Mega Evolution that introduced the battle gimmicks every single gen, a freaking Keychain with eyes, europop soundtrack (yay...), what's not to like in there indeed? =.='
@@c0mpu73rguy Sprites wouldn't have saved the pokemon, we were at 720 by the time XY came out, there was no way they'd all stay. Plus, games have to modernise eventually, it couldn't stay in sprites forever, not on newer hardware.
I was really young on the realese of pokemon x and y, but I played it some time later. It was my first pokemon game, and I have its nostalgia nowadays.
It wasn't my first pokemon game but it definitely was the one I played the most. My parents bought me a Pokebank subscription and since I could place my pokemon in a safe place, I reset and replayed X like, five times. It meant the world to me and I'm sad it's basically been forgotten.
X and Y may not have been the greatest games, but they gave us some of the greatest Pokémon of all time in Greninja and Sylveon, the aesthetically coolest battle gimmick in Mega Evolution, and of course, one of the greatest series in the main Pokémon anime.
@@SMCwasTaken At least they're not as perverted as Lucario fans. Did you know that Lucario has more results on Rule 34 than even Gardevoir? And yet she's the one being accused of being sexualised by Pokémon fans.

xy truly was incredibly beautiful. it was so beautiful that i didnt even care abt how easy it was, it was just v exciting. something that oras came close to IMO (as a true hoenn lover), but xy just had something special
Kalos just felt... kind. It wasn't an overcomplicated region like Sinnoh or Johto, and it's not too simple like Kanto or Galar. They managed to meet at an area in the middle, and I like that. Also a reminder that this was sadly the last time the Unova Monkeys were in a game.
I remember this game. Floette returning to Az was the first, and so far only, time I cried at a Pokemon game. They did a great job displaying his emotions there.
Tierno's only flaw was that he was a generation too early for Oricorio. I love that guy, I'd love if we saw him again one day, out there dancing with Pokémon. Weird fun friends and semi-rivals in the series are a treat I think they deserve a bit more than they're given.
Although it was the start of kinda holding your hand through the game, I think the 3d world with the chance to still explore on your own makes this game so good. It just feels right. Megas, the region, national dex, friend safari, ev training. they almost got it too good on the first try for a new generation. X and Y was a gem.
I played gen 1 and two and took a long break from pokemon. When I heard about mega evolution I was genuinely excited and started playing pokemon again and haven’t stopped since then. So yes, this gen also is awesome to me
XY is honestly one of my favorite Pokemon games, only complaint I really have is the amount of content is a bit low. First game with character customization, megas, the graphics are pretty solid too. I feel old hearing it's 10 years now. I remember when I went with my mom to the store and on the got my copy of Pokemon X. Spent an hour hunting for a Pikachu at the first route for I accidently koed the first one I saw in the forest. Many good memories from Kalos.
13:07 this wasn’t my first pokemon game but gen 6 was when I was reallyy getting into pokemon so all this gen 1 fan service along with me learning how to emulate games and the pokemon generations anime turned me into a kanto fan for life
X and Y were the first games I actively followed from announcement to release. @@HeavenhoundGiuseppe i honestly think the worst thing about Kalos is the lost of any sequel. That made it feel incomplete with many locations and mysteries never getting a conclusion. The anime though really pulled out all the stops with Serena being one of the most popular pokegirls
I still go back XY to this day. I can acknowledge they aren’t the best Pokemon games (Hell I think ORAS outshines them in almost every way) but they have a certain charm to them that really makes me appreciate them. To this day I’m still sad we never got a third version, because Kalos really needed a second chance.
Mega Evolution did come back for the Yellow Remakes (Let's go) but it's not Kalos or anything. Since the last remakes were of Gen 4, they will do Gen 5 remakes next, then Gen 6. And since X and Y are TEN YEARS OLD now, it feels like remakes are more of a possibility. Still crazy, though. Here's a crazy idea, that they won't use but it would be hilarious, if the Gen 6 remakes were 2D...
Not an adult, but Pokémon x was my introduction to now one of my favorite game series ever. I always see people talking bad about x and y but never really stopped to look at the positives, so it’s awesome to see a video pointing out all the things that made it great! Amazing video!
Yo same! I know the game is like objectively flawed or whatever, but it’s so comfy. The “first 3D game” sort of style is cute, there’s a huge selection of Pokémon, and also like 6 different shiny hunting methods which is probably what got me so into shiny hunting when I was younger
The games are not bad but they lacked one thing, content. What I mean is that the game introduces lots of thing but the gameplay loop is where the issue is. Pokemon X and Y are the games that needed a third game the most and they never saw it. The lack of a Pokemon Z is why so many people think that X and Y are the worst game in the series.
@@TheDeathwhish Maybe also because it followed the gen many consider the best and it was not of the same quality. Imo X & Y had issues but I would call it the last good Pkmn gen. Was really not a fan of Sun & Moon, granted I didn't buy the game all over again with Utla editions and after that.... Sword and Shield was really bad and greedy, same with the last gen.
X and Y got me fully back into Pokemon after Id fallen off a bit between gen 3 and 5. The vibe was great, I adored the new pokemon, Fairy type was an amazing addition too! Remember discovering loads of great UA-cam channels and Twitch streamers play this and ORAS in this Gen. Was such a good time, the nostalgia goggles will never come off for me, my favourite generation so far!
Gen 6 is a solid generation it’s literally Diamond/Pearl without its Platinum. If Pokémon Z happened Gen 6 would’ve been more popular than gens 3-5 combined.
@@a.x.x8184 It's worse than even a ''Diamond/Pearl without its Platinum'' situation because entire sections of the main Kalos region aren't accessible plus omitted story set up that probably all was planned for the Z version, compared to Sinnoh where the issue was more so lack of available mons and variety.
That's so crazy.. I just started my first playthrough of Pokemon X last night. And now UA-cam recommends this video made the same day. I've never played X and Y til now.
Wow, the timing is crazy. I literally booted up Y yesterday for the first time in a few years. My sister and I prepared for a pokemon battle with our good 'ol teams... but we discovered that in her game she had no money, practically no pokemon, no pokeballs, and like 8 eggs in the box. She doesn't remember doing this, so it was a hilarious surprise when we were all geared up for an epic battle.
Earlier today I wanted to play Pokemon X but I couldn't find my 3DS, so I decided to do something else. I think I went for a drive or something. I still want to play
Its honestly really awesome to hear some love for this criminally underrated entry. Super Training, Pokémon AMIE & that smooth as silk amazingly designed Online UI alone makes it one of the best entries IMO. My first game was Yellow. I'm 33. But X & Y where the first Pokémon games my cousin's kids played. It was really wholesome watching this new generation play the same series I fell in love with at their age.
12:50 Yeah, I'm 17 and X was my first game. Didn't beat it though. I got Alpha Sapphire and completely forgot about it, but I did beat it last year. And somehow, I got nostalgia.
I started replaying Y recently because i hadnt touched it in 5 years (besides transferring pokemon (also YIKES), and everything felt off until i got to route 15 (Brun Way i think?) and the music hit and everything clicked, the memories came back and it brought a big smile and some tears Y was the third pokemon game i played but the second one i owned, and the memories i had of still being inexperienced but having fun are very fond to me, i really hope legends Z helps bring Kalos back with all its beauty
I know right? How lol. Possibly even more scary… ORAS is 9 years old……. I have nostalgia for the game as well, as I was actually the same age as you when it released. I have a much nicer opinion on the Generation than I used to, but I always had fun with the PSS. It was just so, so fun! Thank you for the fun video as usual girl ^.^
Pokémon Y was my first main Pokémon game. I'd say I got into Pokémon later than most as I was 13, plenty of fond memories of battles, trades, I have a over 1000 hours in Pokémon Y and it's easily my favorite one.
I’m 20… and my first game was X haha. I remember being SO obsessed with it I would play it non stop and try and find EVERY little secret possible. It still makes me so happy, like an old friend :)
The architecture, the soundtrack, the different Vivillon patterns, Mega evolutions, the XY games definitely deserve more love! I instantly fell in love with the entire Fennekin line too, and while most of the rivals weren't interesting, I really enjoyed Shauna. The little story beat at the castle or whatever was really enjoyable to me for whatever reason. And Kalos' Pokémon League is by far the most beautiful League in the Pokémon world. Really wish we got a Z though, because the Z season of the anime was incredible. The XY anime introduced many to the franchise Here's some XY Easter Eggs: After defeating Psychic Robert on Route 10, you're told that your power levels must be "over 9000"...if you know, you know. Upon meeting one of the trainers on Victory Road, they say "My body is ready." This is a reference to Reggie's statement at the E3 2007 Nintendo press conference. Talk to the man in the Pokemon Center in Shalour City to hear him tell you about a game he is playing where a cool little dude "runs around and whacks enemies to the beat of the music." A reference to HarmoKnight.
I still remember getting lost in the mirror cave without repels. This is the time when i found my first shiny, at first i thought the green mr. mime is just some gender variant but as soon as i saw the sparkles, i knew this is a shiny
I thought klefki's shiny was a gender based variant, but to be fair, it's normally pink and its shiny version is blue, also it's half steel type so, when I saw the sparkles, I just thought "Metal can be sparkly. That checks out." Right after, I encountered a non shiny male one and that's when I realized I fumbled a shiny klefki. OTL
I was an adult when X and Y came out and it was my first game. The only things I still remember is being really pissed off by the bridge battle and loving the clothes. I agree it had the best wardrobe, but perhaps said clothes skewed too adult for the characters. I'm happy it got me into pokemon.
Please keep showing more George, he is an absolutely blessed bean I just can't with the way he does a beeg stretch and shows his belly what a great little man!
X was in fact my first pokemon game! I was also 14 when they came out, just late to playing in general. I remember going to walmart to buy a 3ds and specifically X and they only had Y, and the man helping tried to convince me to get Y instead but I refused and went to another store 😂 I've played other pokemon games since and I love a lot of them, but X and Y have such a special spot in my heart, packed full of nostalgia
I'm graduating college next week, and yes, X and Y were my first games back when I was like 12. I have a ton of nostalgia for these games as well, cozy is the exact word I'd use to describe them. Kalos is undoubtedly one of if not my favorite region, and it's never sit right with me that it's the one region with only one single pair of games.
I really loved the friend safari part back when it released. It was so exciting to find out what 3 pokemon where in your own safari. Mine was rock type if I remember correctly.
X was the first game I owned, I have memories of playing LeafGreen with a cousin. Both are super nostalgic to me, so seeing someone talk about Kalos got me super excited! Thanks for all you do
Y was my first Pokémon game when I was thirteen. It was also the first game I ever preordered; I was so hyped and was religiously watching videos about CoroCoro scans. I remember my mom and I picking it up from the mall Gamestop and getting sushi afterwards. I battled the Elite Four in a school cafeteria before my first chair all-region euphonium audition. Massive nerd hours.
I'm so glad I wasn't the only one in love with this game. In fact, after falling out of love with the series when Diamond/Pearl came out, this is what renewed my obsession with Pokemon! It's certainly a cozier entry, but it had so much love and warmth poured into the world - and, of course, Mega Evolutions. I'm still mourning the fact that they've yet to return. Thank you for shedding so much light on why these games deserves our attention and adoration!
I became a Pokémon fan at the time X and Y was released, I legit watched most of the anime, and even if I haven't played neither of the games.. Kalos still gives me a lot of nostalgia, and I can't love that region enough. It brings back so many memories, and one day I hope I'll be able to play either X or Y. I truly hope that we somehow get a "Pokémon Z".. Better late than never, imo. So yeah, Kalos is amazing, cozy and nostalgic at this point, and I wish we had more of it at the time!
Collage was a less than successful endeavor for me when I was 20, I still remember how X and Y comforted me during my struggles. It was a true light in the darkness and I doubt anything could make me dislike it (not even if it's too easy lol).
this was my first pokemon game, and one of my favourite games of all time (and my favourite pokemon game in terms of nostalgia) it feels weird that its 11 years old, i was 7/8 when i got it. thats wild. where'd those days go? I'm about to enter year 12, thats my final year of high school.
"First ever mainline Pokemon games to be made in 3D." Actually, Diamond and Pearl were the first ones with 3D, but it was mainly for the overworld. Gen 4 and 5 used simple planes for a lot of other things to replicate the sprite style.
I found my first shiny on X, a full odds mienfoo I found while I was walking around. I didn't know what shinies were back then but I just thought "huh, it looks weird, I should catch it" and now the games hold a special place in my heart just for that little guy. Also he's forever trapped in there because my mom didn't want to get me the pokemon bank services and I forgot to buy it before the e-shop closed. RIP my tiny sparkly friend
You can trade it to someone who does have bank. Lucky you though, you even got a shiny before knowing what one was! And if you have bank installed, it's free to store Pokemon in. All you need is Pokemon Home. My first shiny was also in X. Second Starter Squirtle.

My first Pokemon game was Pokemon Black
Never played X/Y or Sun/Moon they were the two games I never played because i was getting busier with school, which sucks but oh well.
Also I’m sure I am not alone, I would love to see more of George in future videos, even as an ending or in the sponsorships. He is adorable.
I still can't believe they had a rival follow you around the whole game whose singular character trait was "likes to dance"
dance man
When we get the XY remakes, we could totally get an expansion to other kinda stuff in the pokemon world, such as showcases given equal importance as gyms for Shauna to be a rival, and other kinda stuff like dancing or media for Tierno as a rival, then maybe making the pokedex an actual plot for Trevor I guess.
He had corphish tho that’s cool
I agree, dance man
And not only is his team NOT dance-based, and features hardly any dancing moves, there is no dancing mini-game for him to make sense!

I think my favorite part of the story regarding Lysandre was that in Pokemon Y he totally died- but in Pokemon X there's a chance he's just stuck under all that rubble, immortal.
He survived in both, there's an NPC speaking about it during the endgame apparently.

It's really good that the anime of X and Y was probably one of the best seasons-it really added more necessary depth to Kalos that we never actually got to see, and I'm incredibly grateful for that.
Yes! The XY anime is my favourite! It's so good.
XY on top, great story that people over 4 years old can enjoy.
100% agree

I am SO VINDICATED to hear somebody calling out the fact that gen 5 was hated when it came out (It was my first game and I LOVED IT when it came out, but when I called it a good game at school, I would start a goddamn war). I just really like the fact that it's at least being called a good game today because for a while, I thought I was going crazy because all my friends act like this game was never hated.
Haha, I feel the same way as you buddy. I searched up pokemon x y on the internet because none of my friends played pokemon games and I so disappointed to know that literally no one liked x y.
Right? Like I genuinely had fun with the game, it was the last game that I played where I felt any sort of need to actually "train" my pokemon, and a lot of the designs from that game are some of my favorite

Kalos didn’t introduce too many new Pokémon but the dex was absolutely HUGE. You could catch so many Pokémon and build such fun teams

Same! RIP Mega Infernape.....😭
I dropped out of Pokemon for a bit and got back into it with X. Great decision, so much fun! (Rollerskater game play was so fun!)
Hopefully they get around to remaking them one day. (Well, ofc. Most likely after gen 5 remakes, since the last remakes were gen 4.)
Maybe they'll make Pokemon Z or an equivalent to it along with remakes like with Diamond and Pearl, having Legends Arceus?
Megas we're my favorite mechanic, but 3rd gen is my fav. Soo Alpha Sapphire is my golden child lmao
I just wish they had more than a handful of pokemon that would be shown off and would actually just show you any random dex entry
Editing to add that people have wanted more gyms based on "gimmicks" rather than types and the restraunts were also pretty good with that especially the last one.
As an adult whose first pokemon game was X and Y, I felt deep nostalgia watching this video. Thank you for reminding me of my childhood :)

I'm old enough to have played every game as it came out. X & Y I feel have always been very underrated for everything they brought to the series. I definitely put them up there as one of my favorite gens.
I also started in gen 1 Pokémon red
It's faster if I name what games I missed
Played most of them
And gen6 is the best gen
It took me a while to get used to it because it's really different from the traditional vibe of Pokémon which is adventure epic exploration
Into chill friendship vacations memories nostalgia costumization interactions
I feel like Gen 6 is the border the separator from past and present in which Pokémon stopped being about the players and our journey to conquer a new region
To it's about the Pokémon and their world being presented to us we getting to know the region better
It's not about our journey to the top but the regions themselves welcoming us
Once I understood this switch and accepted this different mindset in how different gen 1 to 5 was compared to gen 6 till today
Gen 6 quickly became my goat
You said sun and moon had good story’s and I screamed in joy, thank you!
Sun and Moon do have a good story and I'm glad to hear other people recognize it.
Oh one of the best Pokemon stories for sure, genuinely loved USUM so much
Yeah agreed, I think too many people are quick to judge them because of the long tutorial, but the story was actually good, USUM's... slightly less but still good, but also I think that's made up for with all the extra game modes and Pokemon they gave us, gen 7 was a good gen no matter how you look at it. Even the trials, I liked them, a unique thing, that hadn't technically been done in the franchise before... I say technically because season 2 of the anime, the Orange Island gyms function very similarly, which is why I'd hoped with PE's announcement, we'd get them as like sister islands to the Sevii Isles... sadly we didn't even get the Sevii Isles.
as long as its not SM's dlc, USUM, of course
imagine making a milf villain so cruel that you need to retcon her evilness to make her a "misunderstood anti-hero"
@@nathanblumprazeres3617
What DLC?... oh you mean USUM in general was DLC even though it wasn't?
The number of hours i put into this game... generations 5 and 6 were the peak of my love for Pokemon, so many memories that im eternally grateful for

That's probably because they had sequels in mind while they were making the games, but Nintendo said no because of the reception B2W2 got.
It definitely sucks, but it could be worse. It could be Gen 9 levels of unfinished and unpolished.
Same! I can’t bring myself to delete my safe file though lol
Kalos is honestly so underrated, mega evolution, fairy types, some amazing new mons (freaking Noivern) and AMAZING sound track
@@c0mpu73rguy games were never going to stay sprite based, gimmicks are a vital part of games from that moment on and I personally don’t mind Klefki
@@c0mpu73rguy sprites wouldn't have saved the nat dex
Nah it's a huge downgrade from black and white
I agree with you there. Gen 6 is my absolute favorite generation of them all. Least favorite ring gen 5
Greninja fans are annoying tho, Lucario is better
@@SMCwasTaken both are cool to be honest.
Alsl greninja is just gen 6 charizard.
@@SMCwasTaken At least they're not as perverted as Lucario fans. Did you know that Lucario has more results on Rule 34 than even Gardevoir? And yet she's the one being accused of being sexualised by Pokémon fans.
@@wintersong2266 Really ? while searching random stuff it's ALWAYS Gardevoir, I've never seen Lucaio R34 in the wild
It was my first Pokemon game.
I was 10, so nostalgia hits really hard.
I love the game!
I hope the remakes will be even better.
It was my first Pokémon game to it is so sad and fun to replay it
My first pokemon game was heat gold and soul silver
@@eevee2304 mine was ruby!

Mine was the Pokémon game on the 3DS I forgot the name of, it has the miis in it
I'm 14 now and the pokemon XY show is esentually the backbone of my childhood and introduced me to the wonderful world of pokemon. sadly I missed my chance to play it because i simply wasn't born yet but I'm still incredibly biased to gen 6 and I'm so glad to see someone else who aslo likes it.
xy truly was incredibly beautiful. it was so beautiful that i didnt even care abt how easy it was, it was just v exciting. something that oras came close to IMO (as a true hoenn lover), but xy just had something special
oras was also special ofc but i feel like the roughness and simultanoues polish of the xy look makes it v charming
I will never forget the feeling of being able to go diagonally in this game. GOING DIAGONALLY IN POKÉMON IS TRULY REVOLUTIONARY!
That meme where the guy turns older
"Pokemon X•Y are ten years old now. Feel old yet?"
13:07 this wasn’t my first pokemon game but gen 6 was when I was reallyy getting into pokemon so all this gen 1 fan service along with me learning how to emulate games and the pokemon generations anime turned me into a kanto fan for life
I bought this game at launch as teenager, knowing it is already 10 years old is astonishing. It truly makes me feel old.
X and Y were the first games I actively followed from announcement to release. Watching my first LP of it was a treat, and I hope these games will get their love once the Unova remakes have been released.
Also, you missed the cool fact that X and Y were the first core series games to be released simultaneously worldwide.
X and Y were my first games. I was 14 and I was so excited. Now I feel so old haha. To this day, it's still my favorite. I really hope we get more stuff. Also, I love the little guy!!! Cat man!!!
Pokemon Y was my first pokemon game and I gotta say that it was an incredible entry point. My favorite is still ORAS followed by USUM, but I will always have a special place for XY in my heart. I would've never even considered ORAS or USUM without having experienced Y and had so much fun doing so. Great video! Glad to see someone enjoyed the game as much as I did :)
Same. I remember people would call XY "baby's first pokemon game" and I was like yeah I agree.
@@marcdimartino9118 As someone who's been here since Red and Blue, pokemon X and Y are beautiful games and in my favorites next to pokemon Colosseum, heart gold and soul silver, and black and white, Emerald.
@@kirvu9677 That's awesome.
X and Y was my first ever Pokémon game, I have a lot of memories with that including me getting my first ever shiny I hunted which was a luvdisc for some reason
Pokemon X Y was my very first mainline pokemon game, it deserve more love , I still remember the memories playing the games fondly with Fennekin as my starter :')
Fennekin was always a cute one. I loved her color scheme
Same for me. I've played it many times and still can't bring myself to use a different starter. She's just so cute, and then she turns into an awesome magic fox-girl.
Agreed
We also need answers to questions about that hex maniac ghost
Not only the ghost girl, I wanna know what’s in that locked part of the power plant
@@dmansuperich2800 Perhaps Kalos's equivalent of Ultra Beasts or Paradoxes ;)
Mega Evolution did come back for the Yellow Remakes (Let's go) but it's not Kalos or anything.
Since the last remakes were of Gen 4, they will do Gen 5 remakes next, then Gen 6. And since X and Y are TEN YEARS OLD now, it feels like remakes are more of a possibility. Still crazy, though.
Here's a crazy idea, that they won't use but it would be hilarious, if the Gen 6 remakes were 2D...
@@eglol That would be amazing
2D Kalos sounds like something I'd play
I love how Legend Z just got announced and she says it'll take another 5-10 years. She is a prophet of pokemon
God, that meme took me back.
It was rough being a Pokemon fan back in Gen 5. Crazy to think Chandelure slander was a thing back then.
Not an adult, but Pokémon x was my introduction to now one of my favorite game series ever. I always see people talking bad about x and y but never really stopped to look at the positives, so it’s awesome to see a video pointing out all the things that made it great! Amazing video!
Same
@@TheDeathwhish it was to easy and the rival was cringe , imo thats all
@@TheDeathwhish Maybe also because it followed the gen many consider the best and it was not of the same quality.
@@a.x.x8184 Pokémon was going to make Z but their 20th anniversary was coming up so they pushed it back until it got cancelled
15:00 aged well
The fact that they are 10 years arent surprisibg to me at all since it was my first pokemon game. I love it!!!
Gotta say, you really overshot that estimate of when Mega Evolution would return
This is even more hilarious that i legit just replayed through this with Chespin. Purely for nostalgia
I started replaying Y recently because i hadnt touched it in 5 years (besides transferring pokemon (also YIKES), and everything felt off until i got to route 15 (Brun Way i think?) and the music hit and everything clicked, the memories came back and it brought a big smile and some tears
Y was the third pokemon game i played but the second one i owned, and the memories i had of still being inexperienced but having fun are very fond to me, i really hope legends Z helps bring Kalos back with all its beauty
how are they ten years old I do not like it
Honestly idk lol
Thanks, you reminded me that I'm old 💀
I'm still getting over the fact that sun and moon are 7 years old. I remember getting pokemon moon at smyths toys.
Yeah, and Gen 4 was 16 years ago. I still remember the TV commercials like it happened yesterday 🥲
The XY anime introduced many to the franchise
Here's some XY Easter Eggs: After defeating Psychic Robert on Route 10, you're told that your power levels must be "over 9000"...if you know, you know.
Are we the same person? I had the exact same thing happen to me 😂
I thought klefki's shiny was a gender based variant, but to be fair, it's normally pink and its shiny version is blue, also it's half steel type so, when I saw the sparkles, I just thought "Metal can be sparkly.
You may be right about the clothes leaning more towards the adult side of things, but then again, teenagers aren't known to wear modestly.

"First ever mainline Pokemon games to be made in 3D."
Actually, Diamond and Pearl were the first ones with 3D, but it was mainly for the overworld. Gen 4 and 5 used simple planes for a lot of other things to replicate the sprite style.
Yes, well, the first Pokemon games where the characters and Pokemon are in 3D.

You could potentially hack bank onto your 3ds. I think bank is gonna be free now that the eshop is closed
You can trade it to someone who does have bank. Lucky you though, you even got a shiny before knowing what one was! And if you have bank installed, it's free to store Pokemon in. All you need is Pokemon Home.
