Was already a fan. Assumed he was humble from his demeanor but had no idea just how humble he is. Like other people have said, I hope he goes far beyond his college greatness!
I met Mike Bravo in Salt Lake City at XMAS clash youth duals. After one of the Tucson kids tech falled my son. My kid 8y/o was emotionally defeated. I had to pick him up off the mat. He’s not accustomed to the type of competition he seen that weekend. I had some firm, uplifting words of encouragement for my son condemning his behavior and refocusing him on ‘the next bout.’ Mike seeked me out randomly for a dad/coach pep talk. I had no clue who he was until now but am very appreciative of his counseling and confirmation. Thanks Mike, from Idaho. You deserve the glory
Romans head was not into wrestling this year! He has been training with Dominic Cruz for over a year already getting prepared for MMA! Vito did lay a smack down on him though! Would love to see them do it again!
A lot of respect for this young talented man! Where he came from and what he’s done with his life. I believe RBY will be successful in whatever he does in his life after wrestling!
Great story, I love it. Brings back solid Childhood memories for a lot of wrestlers. Just good, good stuff. Excellent work, Grandpa, Bravo, and Brother.
Sunnyside High School in Tucson was winning state wrestling championships when I was a wrestler at Glendale High School back in the 1970's. I remember the year they lost to Mesa High School in 1976-77 school year. I believe they had won about 10 consecutive state championships before that year. Tucson Flowing Wells was pretty good as well. I hope RBY's loss in the NCAA final match will inspire and propel him to an olympic gold medal in 2024 in Paris.
Gotta say, it was such a great thing to make this video. I don't think anyone knows RBY or what he's about. Thanks! Great family, great people show its your choice what you become!
Wow i didnt know what rby went through and the man he came out as! Im a senior in hs rn this film is inspiring and shows how strong he is its motivating and shows anything is possible look where he came from and everything he went through and just stuck to the grind!
True Inspiration for the youngsters here in South Tucson. Lives 3 blocks down from where I grew up and my family lives. Definitely taking my son to Sunnyside Wrestling program this summer.
One of the best Bios of a talented and respectable young man. Congratulations on graduating from Penn State and inspiring others through hard work, perseverance, heart and determination. Definitely a video I will be sharing with my family and friends.
It takes a village of people to help shape a true talent. This kid wants it more than anyone they put across from him. Bravo to all the people who kept pushing
I wasted so many years of my life following people. I didn't realize my own dreams until I was 38, and now I build off of this kid, well man and it shows me I got it. RBY everyone, the inspiration our world needs and wants.
Roman Bravo Young's story resonates with me on a personal level, as I too have faced many of the same struggles he did. Despite these obstacles, Roman was able to achieve great success in wrestling and has become a role model for young athletes around the world, especially those who come from similar backgrounds. I believe that Roman's story can inspire young black African American wrestlers around the world who have faced similar challenges in their lives. By sharing his story, we can show these young athletes that they too can overcome adversity and achieve their dreams, no matter where they come from or what obstacles they may face. I would like to express my deep appreciation for the work that has gone into producing this documentary. I hope that it can be a source of inspiration and motivation for young athletes everywhere who are striving to achieve greatness in their lives.
Wow! Love, love, love these personal stories about these wrestlers lives and the people and places and events that shaped them into who they are today!
This kid is impressive. His fanfare and mother are such an inspiration of what parents should be. Regardless of mom's addiction, she stayed strong for her kids.
Superb Film. Thank you for making this and sharing it. There are so many aspects to this young man's story. I feel inspired after watching this 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
RBY is been my favorite collage wrestler and I've been worried that his recent loss might have messed his head up but now that I know who Roman is and the support and love he has I'm relieved. I now am only concerned about Spencer Lee.
Thank you, Flo. This is a great documentary. My introduction to RBY was when he cradled Desanto twice and I was telling my Dad there is something special about this dude. On another note, NCAAs would be held at football stadiums every year if I had any say about it.
When Bo opened his MMA gym near State College I went. Nolf, Cael, Bo, Cassar, Snyder and RBY were all there. I was 57 years old and never had ask anyone for an autograph but I ask them all to sign my shirt. Out of all of them RBY seemed the least happy to do it but he did. Now I think he was just that shy. Bit of a bummer about the natty this year but.....What a solid dude!!
I appreciate RBY allowing the story to be told, I lost my eldest Son to Fentanyl, it is very important people see a way out. Addiction affects everyone, could be just sugar, we are all addicted to something. I love Wrestling and the support of the community. Wrestling is not for everyone but filled with strong people that acknowledge their weaknesses and are willing to work on them with others. 💪❤️
That's inspiring man imma Tucson boy myself I'm proud of you dude I don't know who you are but I know who your spirit is keep it up my brother we all have different factions but we share differences we are One Tucson baby we are legion
That's crazy! His dad was from the same place that Mark Hall went to high school. Quite the story this young man has. I wasn't a fan after he won big 10, and said it didn't matter. But I can't help but respect him now, seeing how hard he worked to overcome so much, and become a champion. I was wrong. This guy is stand up. His dad was a really good wrestler, a tough kid, and good with the ladies. I remember him well. I bet he's proud of RBV, no doubt.
This was a great documentry and very inspirational. I definitely recommend this film for young kids who want to inspire more. RBY is a great example of that as well as his community who helped him get there, especially his grandfather and mother.
This was really, REALLY, well made. When I saw this posted, after what Vito did to Rby, I thought this would be focusing on his going for his 3rd title, and basically be really awkward.. so I waited a while to watch it. Super glad I gave it a chance. I would ask for a Bo nickal video of this type, but I think it’s too late now. Oh well. Great job guys
Always knew he was a standup guy. It was something ab rby persona always hit different for whatever reason… now i know. AND i love that ed ruth was his favorite model wrestler, because that was my guy too. Buddy came into my hometown and put on one of the best clinics i’ve ever attended.
I was a wrestler out of Cali, its such a great sport. I wasn't as good as this kid though. I enjoyed watching this. To be the best wrestler ever out of Az is saying a lot. I know they have had at least one gold medalist, Henry Cejudo, and at least a few other olympians.
RBY is amazing. Hope he makes the move to freestyle. That was funny hearing him say he'd never heard of Penn State wrestling after what he's accomplished there. I hope he is as good at his studies.
He grew up with the perfect ingredients for someone that wanted out of the situation he was in. Luckily for him, he had a talent that he used to escape his chaotic childhood and build the life he wanted. Without the adversity in his early life, do we have the RBY that we all know and love now? Kids that are coddled and babied when there young, don’t have enough fire in there bellies to rise up to level of athleticism that these kids do. It does happen, but it’s very rare. This guy is an amazing athlete and human being.
RBY….I wasn’t a fan at first because I was a Desanto fan. But he has won me over through his wrestling. Now I see his background and I wish I was a fan sooner. I mean dang!….RBY I’m sorry i wasn’t a fan sooner. In many ways you have been blessed by your family but I wish I could help somehow
I’m glad they did this, I don’t think people outside of Tucson understand where this kids from. Tucsons a tough town and he’s from the toughest part. Don’t let the wrestling dynasty fool you, sunny side high school ain’t no joke. Excited to see what he does next.
Being a Hawkeye fan for years, many times I was cheering for DeSanto. But at ncaa this year I was hoping he would get #3 ,couldn't believe he took the L! Vito game was fire! Yet even after what I think was probably his biggest L ever, nothing but respect and class! Now that he's no longer a lion,im hoping to see great things from him!!
Crazy to learn who RBY's father is. I remember seeing him at a freestyle tournament at Red Mountain High School right after he moved from Minnesota. The dude dominated every match with ease and everyone was wondering where the hell he came from. He stood out to me because he went from the mat after a match right to talking with random girls, back and forth. After seeing him dominate several freestyle tournaments in the Valley, I was surprised to find that he ended up at Sunnyside. I heard they recruited him, housing him, etc. I see now he had other reasons. I believe his father beat Will Jarman in the '98 state championship match, and RBY beat Will's brother Steven (there are 12 brothers and sisters) in 2018.
Idc what anyone says RBY is one of the all the time greats the gauntlet that was 133 his freshman and sophomore years was unbelievable (everyone Spencer Lee faced he did to only bigger and stronger from not having to cut to 125) his wars with desanto I will never forget him man!
@Titansfan08 They faced some of the same guys...Lee never Wrestled Gross(the favorite in 2020 probably). Don't remember Lee Wrestling Rivera or Fix in College. Could have Wrestled the prior. Me too

RBY is a dawg!
Big dawgs gotta eat 💪
As someone that's from Tucson, it's very inspirational to see this. God bless him and his family.

Nice. His grandfather put that work ethic in him and pushed him in that right direction. His grandfather is probably the major reason he is so great.
