Eoghan O'Flanagan
10-5-0 (W-L-D)
Eoghan O'Flanagan is a jiu-jitsu competitor from te UK. He is the 2021 ADCC European Trials winner at -88kg. and John call him Irish , Im pretty sure Irish ppl are not happy about it lol
I don't even practice jujitsu, but It's really interesting to hear this man.
Its time to start Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Haha yeah if you enjoy this. Dive into some of his instructionals and begin your journey!
may be because these 2 men are scientists (John on Philosofy, Lex on Computer Science)
Start training my friend
There’s SO much wisdom in this segment about competing and improvement. 👏👏👏
The information about Learning beginning at 7:08 is quite valuable. Good question, Lex, and nice explanation, John. This info can be applied to much of life, not just BJJ.
So unbelievably important! I would just add, for the sake of discussion, that the decrement you experience and must persevere through, will happen repeatedly as you progress. Bodoni probably started being vulnerable to lower level leg locks, but under Danaher, was continuously exposed to even more sophisticated, even sneaky, better people, at which time he had to again accept some humility and persevere yet again in order to be exposed to another level of skill. Each level of exposure to being humbled is a test, each more difficult. It’s so easy to quit AND there’s no guarantee that even with perseverance you’ll master that level. For instance, if you don’t have the hand strength and skill, you aren’t going to advance. So there’s no guarantee and a lot of pain to absorb, both mental and physical.

Amazing run and video
Hi Lex! Could I translate your video on Russian or Kazakh and post it to my channel by providing the link to your original video?
Gian Rules!
This was a good clip!
I feel like John wanted to break down that final match!!
Whose considered the “Greatest ADCC” Grappler of All-Time?
At this point it’s gotta be Gordon Ryan. Andre Galvao, Roger Gracie, and Marcelo Garcia are all honorable mentions as well
Why does Giancarlo looks like he's part of My Chemical Romance on the thumbnail
Wtf are those noises at 3:08 😂
I have to disagree with John, I've run into many extreamly confident yet wholly incompetent people.
They might are fully convinced themselves that they are competent even tho they are not competent at all. Those people also lack the basic self awareness skills, combined with the victim mentality of blaming everything but themselves. However, they are confident in their ability.
Dunning kruger
Did they experience repeated failure?
Lol just walk into any bar
those are called idiots who are delusional or developed the art of bluffing others to save face. I totally agree with John that the self talk and self persuasion is not sustainable. It should be an evidence rather than a feeling : " if it worked 10012 times during training, there's no reason it would fail the 10013th time". That is solid.
Basically John is responsible for everyone’s success but none of their failures
John took responsibility for Gary Tonon's loss at ADCC in 2022.

Eoghan is English, not Irish...
he got lucky. everybody does every now and then... especially in jiu jitsu
Chalking up winning the biggest submission grappling event there is all to "luck" is an interesting take. Especially seeing as he submitted all but one of his opponents
@@jackhutchinson2763 aside from being someone insecured and jealous, Robert "Schlong" is kinda right tho loll, "the better you are at the craft, the luckier you will get"
You don't "get lucky" in jiujitsu.
