Don't understand the thumbs down on this video. This guy is showing us an easy/inexpensive upgrade that everyday people can actually do and save money at the same time. Clear instructions, practical advice, that's a thumbs up all day long my friend!!! And a new subscriber
Thanks alot Peter! Just people just come to click thumbs down I guess LOL
I didn't thumbs down but I'm sure those that did, did it for many reasons. Theres probably plenty of people out there who find painting wheels to be tacky, or maybe they dislike the style of the video. UA-cams thumbs up only makes sense with the thumbs down option too
Because he stole the video idea, he also plugged who he stole the idea from
They came from paint shops. Dude is taking money from them showing how easy painting rims are
Maybe because he's not wearing a mask. Maybe because he's painting outdoors where floating/falling debris can frick up the quality of paint job. Maybe they hate their lives.
4:45 Awesome shout-out to ChrisFix right here! It's very humbling that content creators ensure that props and other credit reach back to where they were discovered in the first place. Great presentation! Looking forward to restoring one of my OEM Steely to standby as a full spare in place of the default doughnut. ⚙️😄
Nice profile pic haha, I thought your comment was my comment for a second lol
That was awesome dude. The only thing I do different is turn my wheels a quarter turn after every coat so that I see everything and paint a different direction for even all over coating.....awesome vid dude
Incredible how a set of wheels can make a big difference on your vehicle
Yes! Totally agreed!
Easy to follow, straight to the point, no annoying product placements! A+ video. Nice job on the paint job and video my guy!
would be great if you put down the paint, primer and finish gloss you used bro.
Thanks for the video. I painted my wheels today and they look amazing and I did it for less than $50.00!
How many cans did you buy??
you heard the man, he wins
What paint did you get?
@@ryanbishop1987 , look at a minimum of 3 cans primer,3 cans of paint, and 3 cans of clear. That'll do the 4 wheels (that size) with a little left over. That's front and back of the wheels. 3 complete coats primer,3 coats paint, and 3 good coats of clear.
Ain't buying no 9 cans of GOOD paint for under $50 anywhere. Up here in Canada, one can of Automotive Paint, from a Body Shop Supply Shop will run you about $35, so buying a half gallon,
plus Gardners and a good, not great paint gun, and another strictly for primer, and another for clear, will set you back a bit,
but the end results are outstanding by comparison. If you have a compressor, the choice is that much easier
Those who gave this a thumbs down are upset they don’t live in the Bahamas or have an awesome vehicle to dress up with better wheels. Great vid, thinking of doing this to my Chevy truck.
I completely agree. I'm about to look around for a nice set of used rims and tires. I have a lot of tire shops around me that sell rims and tires. I never thought about painting. I kept looking for all black rims. Great video. He obviously has haters on here.
Good video for saving some bucks. I like the use of the wire brush on the drill. 400 grit sandpaper seems to work as well for me. I have used Vaseline or grease on the tires instead of masking tape. Just wipe off the overspray. I also like to paint the wheels upright. Thanks!
Woah. Huge difference from before and after. Also super composed and great way to explain from start to finish.
Great video! Thanks for making these DIY videos! Can you please list all the materials and brands that you used to restore them?
Great vid. Gives one the confidence to do this with any vehicle that you want to change for the better. Thanks for the effort!!
Night and Day difference! Great job my dude😎💪🏽
Thanks Dex! I'm thinking of doing this to my stock mags which have my winter tires mounted on
Awesome man! Giving credit where credit is due! Chris fix has alot if tips and tricks 👌
To also fight off the corosion, you can add baking soda and hydrogen peroxide with warm water and use an empty spray bottle to spray all over the rim. Let it sit on the rim for awhile (5 mins) and wipe away. It makes it very clean too.
Great tips - I'll be doing my rims on my 2010 Toyota Tundra. Thanks!
Thank goodness he labeled the parts of the vid with “super speed” otherwise I would have thought it was the meth induced part 😂😂
Do you take speed?
Looks like they turned out great. Good job!
Thanks Dale!
Thanks for the great video. This is my next Jeep project.
holycow that was awesome job..thanks for sharing.
I am guessing a lot of the thumbs down is because this is a quick diy rattle can paint job on relatively nice wheels. I will be very surprised if the paint does not start to come off in two years time especially without using etching primer on bare aluminum. I would avoid scrubbing, power washing or taking it through a car wash for sure. But I know we all appreciate the time he took to post a how to video.
Thanks for the example, big thumbs up!!!
First, but love the videos adventuredex always sooo helpful with the tips and tricks 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Thanks for the support!
Great video, I'm looking to do this to my Rzr wheels.
awesome video !!!! ,quick question I've purchased some rims that came with old tires that I'm gonna replace, should I wait to start the paint process so when they remove the old tires and put the new on it wont scratch the new paint ??
Awesome video man!!
Nice video. Love the Chris Fix mention. I've learned a lot from his videos too.
🙌🏼🙌🏼
Another easy way to prevent any paint going on your tires, closest to the rim. Is to remove a lot of air. The wheel will drop and loosen itself from the rim. Then you can begin the taping process. I did this on my tuck rims. Super easy. If you’re painting the rim black, you can skip this process. But if you’re doing a massive color change, I would do this.
Thanks for the tip! Might try it next time! Thanks for watching JeepWave 👋🏼
Use index cards instead of masking tape. Do your same trick of letting the air out. Then take your thumb/hand and push down the tire and the index card will slide between the wheel and tire. Just keep going around by overlapping each index card. Works well and the cards will be standing in an upright position to block overspray. Then just push down on the tire again and pull them out.
Looks dope, great upgrade man.
Thanks!!
Great tutorial! Thank you! And mad props for your shout out to Chris-Fix. Good stuff my man.
I’m not a “Jeeper”. I’m a 4th Gen V8 4x4 4Runner dude. But this tutorial still applies. 👍🏼 Just had to keep it real for my T4R homies and gals out there.
Same dawg. Got the 05 4th gen v8 and it hauls!!!!
Hello..nicely done....i did the same job at my wheels too...but how you clean them? Most cleaners damage the paint...
I’m wanting to change my stock rims on my Jeep but haven’t added a lift yet. It looks like he changed from the same stock wheel that I have 17x9 but what was the size of the wheels he added? And do you have any suggestions on wheel size to use when there is no lift yet?
Looks clean!!
Can you recommend a good quality clear coat to go over the paint? If you use a different color other than matt.
Weird flex George Masvidal. I knew you could fight but DIY rim painting tutorials on youtube. I'm impressed
Lmao I thought I was the only one that noticed he looked like gamebred at first glance
🤣🤣🤣🤣 too funny
AdventureDex, would you mind sharing the primer and paint that you used? Thanks in advance!
Awesome video! Currently working on my wife’s Jeep.. how many cans of primer and paint did you use for all 5?
What kind of primer and paint do you recommend?
Did you use a self etching primer? If you did can you paint over the self etching primer or do you need to paint it with a coat of regular primer before you applied the black top coats? Thanks! The wheels look great!
It's been 3 years this vid but nice work. Wanting to do this on my truck just wanted to know if when spraying matte black, is clear coat necessary? Or 3-4 coats should do the trick? Thanks
Awesome job
Awesome thanks for the advice
Hey brother love the channel do you think it would work if you were to completely spray over this Jeep to a different color preferably black I’m just curious. Thanks
Good video. They look much better all black.
Will using that wire brush attachment help take off the peeling/bubbling clear coat from my stock rims?
Thanks for the video. Got a 02 f150 with old ROX wheels I want to do the same to.
Great video!
Great video, is there a specific type of paint brand you recommend?
amazing bro well done 👌🏻

Awesome man
Do you think a clear coat is necessary or could I get by with out it?

First of all great video, u make it look so easy. Now my question is will dat work with my stock Lancer rims? If I applied da same steps will I get da same results? But I wanna paint my rims white tho. Lmk bro, Aloha 🤙🏻
Well done dex..

They are XD wheels, 20"x 35". Hope this video helps!
Super good videos. Where i can buy all those cans
Was the Jeep lifted before changing the tires, it didn't look like it, what size are the old and new tires?
Hey bro what paint did you use to paint them matte black? Also sick video I’m gonna try it myself👍
Do you have to lift the jeep to put those tires and wheels on?
What brand of primer and color black matte did you use? Or what you prefer?
Thanks in advance

Superb bro👍
95 Ford F-150 Beater work Truck , stock steel wheels Gloss , satin , or Flat Black ?
Also did the Lawn survive ?
How much paint and what kind did you use? I'm worried about not getting enough paint and not being able to do this in a day. :/
Hey that was a great video bro
How much bottles of paint exactly do you really need for all for wheels
Thanks for the feedback!! You need 3-4 cans for 5 wheels
Will the paint chip without a clear coat or something
How many cans of paint all together including primer main and clearcoat if used?
I am cleared steps and instructions but my question is here how many type of sprays did you use . If possible , can you address them . Thanks
Does the paint come off when your putting the lugs on?
I was wondering what you were going to do when you maxxed out your Jeep. Trick out your Bud's! Great Vid!
haha yeah! I am going to start to need to upgrade my upgrades! LOL
Keep em coming dude!
What primer and paint did you use for this project? Im looking to do it to my factory 4runner wheels. Any extra tips or advice?
Rustoleum
Canon les jantes 💪
Crushed it!
are these rims alloy? Im looking for tutorials on painting alloy rims
What kind of paint and primer did you use
Will these fit on my 2017 Rubicon unlimited HRock with tires 33"x 12", maybe 34" with zero lift and zero suspension mod? I'm looking for new tires now. The stock is 255/75r17, what is the largest tire size that will fit without suspension modes or without a lift kit? Wished other buyers would state what size they choose they used in their photos. Is there enough clearance for big brakes and double calipers? They look nice! Are there more photos? thanks
Randy Wyrick 33” anything bigger will rub when you turn
NIce bro good job
What kind of primer and paint did you use?
how long have you waited to dry the primer to paint it?
Can we do this even if i dont sand the new alloy wheels?
May I ask if it’s possible to paint the wheels without taking them off? I’m trying to surprise my mom for her birthday by painting her Porsche Macan wheels black but I’m scared to take the wheels off.
Nice! Looks gooooood... 😍😍
Thanks!!
