Nice to see someone demonstrating the REAL and most PROFESSIONAL way of painting ur rims. Great video bro! Gonna paint mine that exact same way thanx 👍 subbed....
Just a little suggestion to everybody, I would take the center cap off then paint them separately. When whoever goes to balance the wheels, they might peel the paint up when taking the center cap off.
Love your work. Here is a tip that may help in the future. I let about 25% of the air out of the tire making the tire drop below the rim. You can push the tire down and its much easier taping the wheel/tire that way. The tape can get way under the rim. Paint the rim and simply re-inflate the tire. Keep up the great videos.
I bought a set of winter rims that are a bit gnarly looking and was considering some DIY painting to make them better. (I don't need show quality by any means....) Some questions from this video: - Any thoughts on using an electric turbine HVLP gun? Seems like this project is small enough that it should work? If not, what would you recommend for a non-professional on a budget? - For wheel prep, assume you are not going down to bare metal, just getting through factor clear / scuffing up paint a bit so that next adheres properly? - Are you using primer? - Any guidance on the brand / type of paint to use? Also, any thinning / modification? - For clearcoat, any specific recommendations due to exposure to elements / harsher cleaning chemicals rims get exposed to? - How much time are you typically leaving between coast of paint / clear / etc? - If someone has minor knicks / gouges in a rim any thoughts on how to fill that in? I believe there are some products for this purpose, though curious if any are better than others? Thanks!

I'm new to this, what kind of paint and gloss did you use. Can you be specific in name and brand. What kind of paint gun are you using? Can you put that info in the description of all the materials used?
Great job! Maybe look into a used tire machine to dismount the tire to cut back on the time it took to mask the tire from the paint target as the masking you showed looked brutal!
Great video and great work. I wish the guy that I will give him my wheels of my Jeep SRT 2019 to paint does exactly the same as you. Keep up the good work!
Bro u make that look so easy, painting rims isn't as easy as it looks coz of all the tight curves and the wheel nut holes, so easy to get a run if ur not careful

I've been looking for a wheel painting video that used a paint gun and not rattle can. What gun tips did you use and paint system? Did you clear the back side of the wheel the day before? Looks great!!!
What's your paint setup. I'm interested in learning a little more about painting that way? What spray gun is that? Is it easier painting that way then spray cans? Worth it to purchase that setup?

Hello pharraway I am looking back how you sprayed these wheels as I am starting tomorrow my ? Is dose the inside of the wheels. how money coats base and clear did you use and also is it a matter of choice if you wish to spray inside of wheels?
Ok, I thought that the rims were polished aluminum. What size of tip did you use to spray; I have a 1.4mm tip, can I use that one or should I buy a different size?
Hay guys I'm getting into refurbishing alloy and looking for knowledge would you call it but I've got a question when it come to spraying with a hvlp gun what do you do with the inside of the alloy that sits against the disc do u leave it or do it and what doe you do with the front with the weights on the inside with the tyre on the rim or doe you doe the face of the alloy kind regards Cameron
Hi, I am thinking of doing my own wheels to save cash and the finish looks professional. I didn’t see that you used a primer before paint, was this not required? And does anyone know the main different from spray painting the wheels rather than powder coating? Many thanks and good job.
Thank your reply. I am looking at quotes for someone to do the job. If it’s expensive I may have a go. I was initially worried about the paint running or not looking even! I did think powder coating was better, but the finish on your attempt looks good for me. I assume having a spray gun is better than using a spray can.... 👍🏻
But sometimes the paint and primer comes together into one so you can buy the all in to one can or spray whichever you use instead of buying them separately
That’s good to know, thanks. Is it any better or worse to use a 2 in 1. Still on the fence as to whether I will have a go. I’m not sure i could achieve a spot on finish first time, but this video sure is encouraging!
Hey sorry man I know this video is old but I hope you can help me clear up some confusion. 1. Do I need to prime the wheels if they are alloy wheels? If so, do I need primer and sealer or just primer? 2. What kind of paint gun are you using in this video? And what paint gun do you recommend when priming? If you can drop your cashapp below I’ll gladly tip you for the help! Thanks man
@@PHARRAWAY thank you. Just have some rims that used to look so nice. Now have flaked because of New York state salt on roads. Gonna only use them in summer now but wanna sand and paint. New to auto paint. Usually spray trim and doors with hvlp. Thanks again.

The most professional way would be to take the tyres off the rims
@@craigglossop4595 and have it in a fully dust proof room. You can do this by a special film you tape around you walls and air purifier

After watching your video I'm excited and can't wait to get started on my rims tomorrow. I'm going to follow your exact steps.
I'd be proud to have a set of wheels painted that good on my car.
Thank GOD a video without CRAP music playing in the background. THANK you for posting, great video, WAY better than the others here on YT.

Before painting your rims you sanded them with 320 grid. But the pad you used to scuff it down, what was that?

Black color yes
Hey pharraway , i know its an old video but do you adjust your gun settings? Your fan and fluid when spraying rims?
It would help to know How long did you stop in between coats until moving on to the next? Thanks
Why does clear have higher psi than the paint? Non painter asking lol
The clear is much thicker then the paint so at that psi it will lay down much smoother
