- Jake Bowen of prog-metal juggernauts Periphery takes us through his two new Ibanez signature models for 2016, the JBM27, the first ever production 7-string JBM, and the JBM20, a more affordable take on the JBM.

I bought this guitar 4 months ago. Plays like absolute butter! Love it
Great ad! Love the addition of Jake's puppy, really adds something unique and personalizes the artist sig ad like I've never seen before.
disappointed the title of this is not "jake bowen and his 7 strings of wonder"
+Henry Maple Ragtime Dandies!
I fuckin wish it was too
There's no slowin' the Bowen
I just recently played one of these at a guitar center and wow was I blown away. This will surely be my next 7 string.
Tychoooo
2:18 hi Tycho!
Made a review of the JBM27. Great axe.
About time this was affordable ;-;
Love this guitar! I need them both now!!!!!
Am i the only one who has to watch videos on them individually playing the guitar to know the individual parts for songs by Periphery? I didn't know Jake played those clean notes in that way. i thought Misha played them like that when I was listening to the audio.
Jake does most of the cleans and ambient stuff, Misha says it's because he's center stage and it just kinda happened that way, but he always seems kinda frustrated when he says it, like maybe he's a little envious of Jake playing those parts. They're no dummies, and 3 guitars live can be tricky, I believe that Jake's just better at that stuff, and Misha's niche is that unique, gripping djenty rhythm he pretends he's embarrassed about. Either way, it works. Their composition always keeps me listening and hearing new nuances in their arrangements. I love it.
His beard makes me want to buy that guitar
dat dawg doe
Looks/sounds beautiful!
One of the best Djent axes out there, things a fuckin Monster.
what's the name of the first song? I've been looking for the name for quite a while :/
Psychosphere
thanks!
Confirmed: These guitars contain more thall than all boss monsters from all World of Warcraft iterations put together.
About time we got a seven string model. Looks sleek as fuck.
Beautiful guitar make want get guitar I love it when you

Just might have to pick up a new 7 string

now if only Jackson can release a budget friendly version of the Juggernaut 6 and 7, that would be great
Just as his uncle: No mounting rings for the pick-ups

ibanez please more ebony fretboard guitar!!!
I got this JBM27 with Bound Jatoba fretboard but JBM100 has Ebony fratboard. Ebony Fratbord sounds better. Over all this guitar is very good in style and sound but one thing I found on the back where the springs are with ground wire? the wire was not soldered to the plate and was detached. One thing about the strings! Have to buy two separate sets one with the fist 6 strings and the 7th separate because the 7th low note is 0.64. Tuner and the lock works very good but one last thing on the Truss Rod cover it says TITAN is screw on rather then the other Ibanez Guitars I have has slide cover to the Truss Rod and mine got striped after opening it for just once.
Shame there isn’t a 7 string hard tail. Not crazy about Jatoba either.
Wow
Holy shit!
But why tremolo system HE'S NOT EVEN USE IT :"(
to avoid tuning problems probably
Edge FX II bridge or Evertune will work perfectly
For the once in a blue moon that he does/has used it. Plus, it's nice to have, since it can be blocked anyway.
He uses it VERY rarely...like on motormouth
Yeah it's mainly for the tuning stability, and to just have the option there if he does want to use it.
Why, when companys are now shipping lower cost guitars with ebony boards hasent this got a ebony board. Its not that expensive. A cheap copout.
Ibanez don't really use ebony boards on anything, not even the prestiges
+Anees Dadou yeah, but they did on his higher range model. Not that im knockin rosewood. I actually prefer playing on rosewood but the looks of maple.
+teddeeh that's the first thing that stood out to me immediately. like right when the guitar popped up 0:08 seconds in, I literally thought "damn, this guitar would look a million times better with an ebony board".
+Pradeep Patel and again im not knockin rosewood i was actually happy that tosin used rosewood on one of his if not both tier signatures but this feels like a bit of a cop out.
Pradeep Patel the higher end model was worth over £1000. This is worth about 600 pounds and has dimarzio titans in along with the unconventional design. What are you expecting
Petrucci 2.0
Petrucci is his uncle fr
Djent doggo!
Liked before I was 10 secs into the video, yes, I'm a fanboy.
No matter how much i try I can't stand Periphery vocals. It sounds like american party metal, he would easily fit in something like blink 182, completely takes away from the experience AFAIK. So whiney... :(
His vocals are one of the best in the entire genre. I can get why you think they're whiny sometimes, but if you listen to his strong parts in Ragnarok, Scarlet, The Bad Thing, Froggin' Bullfish, Make Total Destroy, Masamune etc you can't deny that he has a great voice. He has a 4 octave reach, something many singers don't have.
+Marek Jurecki So I guess these days if you have a high voice and you don't sing power metal or opera, you are considerate "whiney". Ever heard of Geddy Lee? smh...
+Marek Jurecki look sometimes I don't like spencer's vocals either. honestly I didn't even like his style prior to juggernaut, but american party metal? blink 182? dude, you're just spouting bullshit.
As I've said: "as far as I am concerned". I like the music, can't stand the vocals. No need to defend it en masse and take it personally. I have nothing against the vocalist personally, but Icarus Lives with vocals was one of the worst things I've ever heard, yet I love that song as an instrumental.
Spencer knows how to sing and is a cool dude from what I saw, to me it just sounds... wrong and chaotic, in a bad way, like an afterthought, like the vocals were tacked on in the last minute. Here is the song - now sing something nice.
I agree that in heavier moments it works.
It's like Nevermore, a lot of people find Warrel Dane's vocals obnoxious, while I and many others quite enjoy it.
Some people don't like what you like, just deal with it.
+Marek Jurecki in a lot of cases the vocals _were_ tacked on in the last minute, so to speak. a lot of the songs from the first two albums were written as instrumentals first, then they added the vocals later when they started going in the periphery direction. juggernaut was the first album they did where everything was written all together, which is why to me the vocals sound alot better on that album and make more sense musically.
also take your own advice dude "Some people don't like what you like, just deal with it." or in other words, some people like what you don't like. don't complain when people call you out. if you don't like it then, don't come around talking shit in the first place and just keep it to yourself.
You need zero talent to play what he just played in this video. TF.
Ibanez, are you listening, don't forget us left handed players, we snap up any offerings you put out
