I am relatively new to the hobby, and have never kitbashed before. As a woman in this hobby, I often struggle to find miniatures I can connect with, and have been wanting to alter some minis for some time. I found this video useful and inspiring - thank you so much!
Sorry if this is help/advice that you dont want or need but bad squiddo games might be one to look at. They have a lot of female minis and the ceo pushes female representation in the hobby :)
Welcome to the hobby long may you enjoy it, I can say you will enjoy the video that Alex have put out , one I recommend to help you is eve-olution. Alex is a great source to inspire and tweak the thought process, again welcome.
The influx of RPG miniatures also makes it a bit easier to find fitting female models. A lot of sculptors deviate from "overly sexy" female fantasies. There are also all lot of printing services.
I've had the same issue, I'm always trying to buy kits with female heads to collect And I use them to convert male models since... Well... You wouldn't be able to see a pair of boobs under all this padding and armor especially at this scale. I do have quite the collection of female heads that I've sourced from various kits now though ^^ (Please don't take this out of context)
I started to feel like my grandma when I had my third blue butter cookie tin filled with bits. Feels good to have an assortment of accoutrements for any occasion though!
I mean if I was a kid, I'd feel a bit better about opening a cookie tin and finding Warhammer bits, than I would about sewing supplies. I would still rather find cookies, but gaming bits seem cooler.
Well explained Alex, great for those who haven't done kit-bashing or conversions before. I've been doing them for 40+ years, but I still liked the way you gave concise explanations to the processes.
What a great vid for inspiring GW hobbyists who've so far only built to the instructions, it shouldn't be so off putting to make an expensive kit into your own take. This was a lovely balance of structural substitution and aesthetic tinkering and such a thoughtful introduction. Genuinely information dense with powerful tricks like mixing milliput and greenstuff but never feeling like it because Alex naturally embodies both earnest and laid back all at the same time. Another inspiring hobby signpost to a more imaginative game!
This was great! I love your kitbashing videos; one tool that I haven't seen ANYONE use that I use quite religiously is an engraving tool - it's particularly nice for cleaning up green stuff or poor glue jobs, the kit I got was super cheap and came with tips down to 0.1mm
I love how you sourced the other bits to make something that didn't really fit into your army seem like a (showy) natural addition to it! Looking forward to seeing it painted up!
I like the heraldic look of your stormcasts, I've been looking for schemes since I find the pure gold I started with gaudy after a while and I might do it like that.
Another wonderful and inspirational video. I am a big fan of kitbashing and try to incorporated it as much as possible with my minis. Really like this subject, well done Alex!
Nice tonal change to the lighting. It showes of your workspace well while you are talking. Also, that's a very sophisticated turtable you used at the end. I've never seen one with a pause feature before.
Very excited to see another kitbash video she looks amazing!! I can't wait to see her painted Also love the format of this video it was nice to have you talking directly to us great video Alex :)
Kitbashing videos are always fun, especially hearing your progress of going about it ^^ So thank you for the awesome and insightful video once again Alex.
Heck yeah, always love to see a kitbash vid! Great to hear you talk through the process. MaxMinis have some really interesting bits - their line of Sonic Guns are some of the coolest bits I've kitbashed with.
Great video Alex, thanks a lot! Please do more kitbashing projects, they are very inspiring - and I hope we can soon see a video for the painting of your custom Yndastra 😏
Wonderful, practical guidance, as always. Much of the details I knew already (some I have even done!) but I still always learn a thing or three from your well done, videos. Alex. Also props on kitbashing a rotating showcase spinning platform from a tabletop and your hand :D
Thank you for giving me such wonderful inspiration! New to the hobby, and dunno if I'll ever play any games. But I swapped the head on one of my Gretchin and Runtherds, there's a painboy around, so it makes me happy! More often we should do what makes us happy! Thanks for spreading that love!
A great tutorial with a lot of helpful tips. And the lighting at the end of the video---Wow! Another nice touch which makes your videos such stand outs irrespective of the subject. 🤟
Wait, I love those rectangular, more Romanesque shields. They looks 3d printed, but I could be wrong. I haven't finished the video yet (I'm sure it's great) but I wanted to stop and ask! I'll come back and edit this if this is answered in the video.
Something I do with my leftover sculpting material is make it into a ball and use it to fill big cervices in kitbashes the balls can also be cu in half to make bubbles for your lava, swamp, and toxic waste bases I also place unusable bits in crevices before I ass the filling material just to make myself use less sculpting material this saving some money.
When a miniature company or a 3D artist says that their products are compatible with other miniatures, take that with a very light pinch of salt. The reason I have ended up with the amount of spare bits that I currently have, is because I tried mixing and matching different parts for different armies/characters, only to find out that the parts don't fit properly.
Hi Alex, looking at you doing kitbash seems so easy, but, may I ask a question? Why sword and spear? It seems strange, and how will you paint the hidden parts, now that you glued the wings on her back? Thanks
The sword and spear is her standard loadout. The spear is more of a ranged weapon… kind of like the AoS version of a sniper rifle. I’m not sure I follow you about the hard to get at bits?
I know it’s all a matter of taste but I’m mildly perplexed at you removing details like the lettering on the steps. Those sorts of things are what create texture and interest for me. Opinions and all that. Still a great video, even if I don’t necessarily share your aesthetic tastes.
You touched on the most import part but never said it, the #1 rule is to keep all bits from all minis you've ever built so that you don't know where anything came from!
Finally, the advice we all want to hear. “Buy more minis.”
Lovely end piece. Simply superb
Thanks P!

I'm glad to hear the video was inspiring. Hope you get to kitbash together some minis you can relate to.
I started to feel like my grandma when I had my third blue butter cookie tin filled with bits. Feels good to have an assortment of accoutrements for any occasion though!
Bring out the tin!! (Bombastic music)
I mean if I was a kid, I'd feel a bit better about opening a cookie tin and finding Warhammer bits, than I would about sewing supplies. I would still rather find cookies, but gaming bits seem cooler.
Gives me a real "planescape" vibe; that mix of fantasy with industrial vibes. Great stuff!
Well explained Alex, great for those who haven't done kit-bashing or conversions before. I've been doing them for 40+ years, but I still liked the way you gave concise explanations to the processes.
Great to hear, thank you TB
this is so great because the guy is calm and clear, and I really appreciate that energy

Great tip Ramirez, I’ll look into that. Thanks!
Doing the details to give yourself some time to think is a great advice. I do it all the time and it works great!
That looks amazing, flipping the 'wings' created so much character and atmosphere. Awesome vid!
Thanks S! I appreciate it.
I love how you sourced the other bits to make something that didn't really fit into your army seem like a (showy) natural addition to it! Looking forward to seeing it painted up!

That's a GREAT bash...can't wait to see it painted! Will have to go back through your other videos now 🤘🤠
Great! Thanks J
All of your videos are so well thought out. I appreciate your efforts for the hobby! Keep up the awesome videos!
Thank you Tim 🙏
I like the heraldic look of your stormcasts, I've been looking for schemes since I find the pure gold I started with gaudy after a while and I might do it like that.
A tremendous tutorial and kitbash! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you liked it! Thanks M
Another wonderful and inspirational video. I am a big fan of kitbashing and try to incorporated it as much as possible with my minis. Really like this subject, well done Alex!
Thanks as always! I'm glad you liked it.
Looks great. The wings remind me of a skin for Nemesis from the Smite video game.
Cutting things away I don't like is a easy way to personalize my mini's. Bonus is you don't have to paint them either.
Very true W! My Stormcast are indeed easier to paint without spikes and flashy bits.
Nice tonal change to the lighting. It showes of your workspace well while you are talking.
Also, that's a very sophisticated turtable you used at the end. I've never seen one with a pause feature before.
Thanks! It’s indeed a very unique and expensive piece of gear used at the end there 👋
Very excited to see another kitbash video she looks amazing!! I can't wait to see her painted
Also love the format of this video it was nice to have you talking directly to us great video Alex :)
Thanks Ovan. Turing out a new / old style. Giving myself a break but also just focusing on “realistic” projects. As a way to mix up the content
sweet more kitbashing. glad you did some more.
Thanks Matt!
Great video Alex , cant wait to see your paint scheme for her.
Thanks Isi 🙏
Kitbashing videos are always fun, especially hearing your progress of going about it ^^ So thank you for the awesome and insightful video once again Alex.
Thank you greatly Aleria
Heck yeah, always love to see a kitbash vid! Great to hear you talk through the process.
MaxMinis have some really interesting bits - their line of Sonic Guns are some of the coolest bits I've kitbashed with.
Yeah, plenty of fun things. In the world of 3d prints I’m still glad for random resin bits!
Great video Alex, thanks a lot! Please do more kitbashing projects, they are very inspiring - and I hope we can soon see a video for the painting of your custom Yndastra 😏
I'll def do a video on painting her, hopefully soon.
Another great video from you - absolutely love your continued enthusiasm for the hobby. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Great video! I do kitbashing for years, and I'd like I had a video like this when I started.
Great to hear M, thank you.
What have we done to deserve another 52 Miniatures video so quickly! 🎉🍻🍾 This pleases me!
Ive probably missed a lot of your birthdays… so I’m working through the backlog
Wonderful, practical guidance, as always. Much of the details I knew already (some I have even done!) but I still always learn a thing or three from your well done, videos. Alex. Also props on kitbashing a rotating showcase spinning platform from a tabletop and your hand :D
Thanks R! Some high tech gear at the end there yeah :)

Thank you Marl, I appreciate it
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Thanks for sharing your journey
Thank you Mark as always
Super cool kitbash, and great explanation of your process too. I'm all inspired to try to make some clockwork steampunk wings for Celestine now!
Go for it!
I love kitbashing!
Excellent advice!
Great walkthrough, thank you Alex!
Glad you enjoyed it!

They are custom made for my army. If you look for a sculptor on Myminifactory called Sinerds you can download them for free
@@52Miniatures thanks and very cool! I just went back and watched the video associated with those shields.
love the gladiator helmet, and the "up-side-down" wings
Thanks Kim!
Hoping we get to see a paint job for this mini, very eager to see a unified theme with those cool spikey (less so after tiny spike removal) wings!
I hope so too!
Fantastic video and the model looks amazing

Great tip Josh
Brother Grukkarius, look out! There’s a filthy ork right behind you! By the emperor, it’s wearing our armor
I just love your stuff!
very cool project and awesome end result.
Thank you very much!
Simply the greatest hobby youtuber
Well thank you dearly J
Another quick helpful video!
Glad to hear it!
I've hust risen from a 24 hour covid coma to find a new video. Fate? Mayhaps! Cheers Alex
Speedy recovery! 🏥
Good timing! Yet sorry too hear about the Covid... Hopefully all good now?
Fantastic video, I'll have to make me some sprue glue as well this seems really useful
Thanks D. I’m sure there are plenty of vids that show it in detail
He is not a wizard but he has magical.
I am so careful with cement and smoothing filing/sanding because it can make itgummy real fast and is a pain sometimes lol
Looks great. Getting Diablo vibes from that mini.
Amazing work!!!
Thank you!

New video, yay!
Yay!
some good tips in there, also for an experienced player
Glad you think so Ebbe
Greetings from your German viewer ^^ . nice kitbash :)
Greeting German viewer! 👋

wouldn't the feather wings be perfect for the owl theme you have going on?
In a way yes, but the angel vibe kind of doesn’t do it for me :)
This is SO cool
Glad to hear it 🙏
I sit down to paint in track pants and a ripped t shirt, this man is impeccably dressed 😂
Hah! Thanks B
this is cool!
🙏
Next video, yndrasta the gladiator painted please 😊
why are you kitbashing?? 'cause i can' well done, love it
Cool kit bash! The hobby is expensive enough… I can’t imagine anyone having whisky to throw around on cleaning their hands 😂
I mean… that would have to be a pretty terrible whiskey
Did you ever get around to painting it?!?
Not yet. Primed it yesterday actually. Will get to painting soon I hope. It will be a video for sure.
She looks awesome 😊😊😊
Thank you, I appreciate it!
@@52Miniatures you are welcome 🤗
That's a beautiful thumbnail
I know it’s all a matter of taste but I’m mildly perplexed at you removing details like the lettering on the steps. Those sorts of things are what create texture and interest for me. Opinions and all that. Still a great video, even if I don’t necessarily share your aesthetic tastes.
Definitely different strokes :) I like the mini to get the attention and for some reason “lettering” really draws my eye.
You touched on the most import part but never said it, the #1 rule is to keep all bits from all minis you've ever built so that you don't know where anything came from!
Keep getting spooked thinking you might cut yourself 😅
Is there a reason you're using a box cutter instead of a hobby knife? That just seems needlessly dangerous to me... But maybe it cuts better?
I’ve been using this tool for years… so it’s like a part of me. I’d probably cut myself if I changed tool :)
subscrived and like just only for the automatic rotating device; just like mine
It's terribly handy.. 🖐
