Pig Iron Productions makes some really unique stuff. I have some of their stuff I really need to build for... something. I figure something out. Thanks for watching!
Kitbashing is definitely something I wound up indulging in a lot, especially for my Aspiring Champions I've done thus far. One of my personal favorites I've done is I got a pair of spare legs from a buddy (they seem to have been Blood Angels at one time, they got the weird sigmarine helmet kneepads they like plus purity seals), used that to toss on a spare marine torso, added a Terminator Lord chain-loincloth-thing to the back of the legs, Warp Talon arms for claws, and then a spare Terminator Lord helmet. Guy looks kinda imposing striding forth, but considering his arms are upwards I can't help but picture that 'oh, are you approaching me?' meme every time I see him either >_>
I am a fan of kitbash/conversions. I am an ork player and obviously I love to make converted stuff. Recently I made a Morkanaut being half morkanatut half defiler with some other bits thrown in.
I’ve done two kitbashes so far, both for characters. The latest was grinding down a space marine captain’s arms so I could fit the gun and relic blade that come with the Dark Angels upgrade sprue. That was fun.
my first attempt at conversion was with pre-assembled dnd models, i took wings from an aasimar and crudely stuck them to a tiefling with superglue and baking soda. it's... messy.
The model could be "perfect" and I'll still want to convert it, lol. I've ordered from both Anvil and Puppetswar and I cant say enough about the quality and quick delivery even in the states. Also, I cant believe I've been watching these videos for as long as I have and didnt realize Atom is located in Wisconsin too. Keep up the quality contrnt!
My bits box is over 20 years old and contains such diverse things as zoids weapons (used to convert the original Adeptus Titanicus warlord titans), Dark Future missile pod and roof mount, the old sand-plastic beaky marines and even the heavy bolter from the first metal Space Marine Dreaadnought and the chaos tail conversions, also for the original Adeptus Titanicus. I may not convert or kitbash too often, but I'll never throw away a useful part
Fun tip: you don't need multiple kits to kitbash. I've done a lot of stuff by clipping and shaving parts from one guy in a kit and gluing them to different places on another guy, like taking an optional axe, shaving off the hand on it, and putting it on someone's belt as a side-arm. I had some guys from a kit that had three officers, and used all the various bits to cut and shape different backpacks for each officer so I could have a guy with a comms unit, another with an oxygen tank and one more with extra ammo and a side arm.
I just did my first bit of kitbashing two days ago. I wanted some gue'vesa for my Tau army so I got the 5 man Cadia kit and a fire warriors kit. I cut the tau legs right below the knee pads and cut the human legs right above the boot which goes bit up the leg. Clipper slipping on the smooth surface was a bit annoying but dealt with it and after a bit of dry fitting and filing it looks great. I particularly like one who has one foot on a primaris helmet, looking to the side, pulse pistol out in right hand, little radar thing in left and pulse rifle on his backpack. A mate of mine said how it might be hard to see them being human since it’s only the feet that had been changed really but they still need to be painted and I feel that since I know that they’re special is what makes me happy.
I've recently tried kit-bashing in reverse, using 40K parts to convert Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars into Mad Max-like vehicles for use in Gaslands games. A lot of fun!
As an AOS enthusiast , i once took a Stonehorn Beast (from the Ogor) painted it with a forest style, a bit woody, and put Ylthari's Gardians riding it on the top, it looks great!
Definitely suggestible. He's probably the first place I'm grabbing some bits from for both some newer CSM Noise Marines and some bits for some custom Chaos Lords or Berserkers in future. Needless to say, if you're doing loyalist or heretic astartes and your shop allows 3rd party stuff, great source.
@@KuK137 Well, i did not see the bits i bought anywhere else. But maybe some stuff realy is not his own, i can not say for sure. Anyway shapeways is still a great place to look around for bits.
Kitbashing is so much fun! I did a big Genestealer / Imperial Guard project for a gaming retreat a few years ago and the vehicle conversions were an absolute joy. For the infantry, simple head swaps made a huge difference in look and feel of the troops. Very exciting stuff. :)
Loved the video- thanks! I enjoy kitbashing and converting my models as much as I enjoy painting them. I’ve been building a 30K Raven Guard Legion army for the past couple of years, and there are very few minis that I haven’t altered in some way- I really like making my army different than other ones out there, while staying within the same aesthetic. I actually almost blew my drink out of my nose when you mentioned dropping bits on the floor while dry fitting, etc. This happens to me so often that it’s become almost a living meme to my wife and me- I don’t know how it happens, but traveling the 2-2 1/2 feet between my desktop and the floor, so many bits are completely un-findable that it’s like there’s a Stargate there, because after giving up the search with flashlight and all, they turn up later on the other side of the room, or even in the next room. So many of them have just disappeared from the face of the Earth that we often joke that there’s a black hole under the desk. Anyway- I’ve been a subscriber for years, but I don’t think I ever left a comment here before. Just had to though, hearing about your “bits black hole”- keep up the great content, and thanks for all of your advice over the years.
I highly recommend Mad Robot Minis, glad it made the list. I've bought a lot from them over the last year. High quality casts, bulk buy discounts. Great for making those Imperial Guard armies they no longer produce (Looking at you Mordian Iron Guard!)
Loved this video! Kitbashing has been my favourite part of this hobby and I've recently gotten into more advanced forms of conversion. My personal favourite project was back in WH Fantasy: Skabb and the Boyz, a Black Orc Warboss and retinue who all had a variety of different weapons, some greenskin some 'found', some weilded and most sticking out of the boys from 'da last fite'
As someone who started with Orks, got really into the Ork community, and got really inspired by the Ork conversions I saw online/in the books, I was kind of really surprised that some people don't even kitbash. Yooz gitz need ta get some glue in ya gobz
Kitbashing/cutting/modifzing is way easier than it seems! Highly recommended to try (on seargent-equivalents and leaders). Switch a head, change a weapon, add a cloak or extra armour ... small things make models your models
On hanging on to parts- I’m pretty new to the hobby but I’ve been literally saving the little nibs of plastic you snip off once parts are off the runner. When you glue them together right, these little chunks of plastic can make a dense gravel super easily

Great video, thanks Uncle Atom. I’ve just got into Necromunda and am looking to kitbash some bounty hunters and hive scum, so this is a really timely video. Thanks again
I love conversions that add flavour but still resemble the faction they’re supposed to be. A fantastic example is the guy who converted the newest Nighthaunt ghosts into Dark Mech Ruststalkers. I recently bought some desert heads and torsos from Maxmini, Puppetswar and Victoria Miniatures. These are really good sculptors if you wanna make oldschool Imperial Guard regiments like Tallarn, Mordia and Praetoria. For my own Desert Raiders I’m mainly using Cadian Shock Troops with Catachan power swords and a few Dark Elf cutlasses for the flashy officers and veterans.
Loved the “one guy in a clown hat” comment - it did make me Laugh Out Loud - imagining how many times he would have to be explained, and the number of eye-rolls that would result...worth it? Maybe.

The first conversion I ever did was on a Wizkids mini. I had to cut it up as they're one solid mini, buy some other minis with bits I wanted and cut them up and bought a box of 3 space marines because I wanted an arm and a backpack thing. I just glued it all right together and...Well, the head sort of fits. I'm doing my second conversion right now as I've picked up Age of Sigmar and both want to give myself variation in what I'm painting and have a few cool looking uniques. I picked up a box of black ork blood bowl minis so I can throw one of the weird masks on a topless Megaboss so he looks more rabid and psychotic. I'm also converting the rest of them into brutes with spare parts as well as going under the assumption that the guys with arm guards are actually shields. It's going a lot better than my first attempt at conversions!
I’m kitbashing the 1st Mars Expeditionary Force, an admech allied Imperial guard regiment. All the tanks are mech walkers kitbashes (dust tactics/Konflikt 47 models)
Wargame Exclusive make High quality detail models that not even the brand new casted GW's models can match up with. I have bought several from them and I am looking forward them to increasing their catalog. By far the most impressive miniatures I have ever had.
Great idea to make a list of websites that sell amazing conversion bits. It's hard to find a decent (current) list of shops. Plus, the benefit of shops all across the world gives everyone a chance for low shipping costs.
I LOVE converting of I can I'll convert as much as I can in an army. There are a lot of bits sites that sell parts from gw boxes to help with converting.
Scibor Monstrous Miniatures from Poland does some really nice alternative parts for Landraiders and Rhinos, he has a large range of bits to individualise your Spacemarine army . And least but not least he has alternative Spacemarine models which are really beautiful. Check him out. Scibor sculpted all the miniatures per hand. He sculpted the Witcher 3 collectors edition statue.
Yesterday i bought a chaos lord (the hammer guy) and it fell from my hands. I had to get rid of his ponytail) I wasn’t very happy with the bald head (mainly because i already have 2 bald guys) and i decided to kitbash it. I atached cables from the meganobz kit to connect his backpack and the plasma gun. And then i decided to chop his head off (it took me 1-1:30 hours to make it work, but i achived my goal (i changed his head with one of the admech flying skulls). It looks AMAZING
Oh man I am in the middle of a conversion I am fusing two models. But tossing in 8 different parts and fused a castigator and a hellblaster guns. Cut away the presss fit guys legs and bought a lower body to replace it. And I had to make the piping that connects the hellblaster to the power pack. I got all the conversions done now I just need to paint him in the ravenguard color scheme.
Thanks! I just got into WH40K and I stating to get all my material together to start my army. I think the figures are great looking but I wanted to make them my own and so I've been looking for independent companies for my custom look and these links you gave us are awsome. I hope you get some kick backs!

I loved listening to this and the guy with the huge knife in his stomach. That looks like a guy who doesn't care how tough you think you are. He'll set you straight.
With the release of new Zone Mortalis terrain, could you please make a video looking at all the different ways to make your own Zone Mortalis walls and doors at home, cheaply. Thank you.
You should do a video highlighting the INQ28 warhammer scene! I discovered them now long ago and was blown away by the creativity (and kitbashing skills) on display.
Can't believe Reptilian-Overlords was not put forward as a 3rd party supplier. Not personally bought any of their stuff yet but they've been showcasing some gorgeous 3D prints!
Kitbashes and conversions are the biggest draw of the hobby for me. I love customizing and personalizing in games, but in video games you have nowhere near the freedom as you do in many tabletop games. It's much more satisfying to make a model unique, even with a small change, than it is to look at the same thing you'd see in fancy studio photos.
That's funny, nice timing on making this video. I'm in the process of making a bunch of Khorne CSM by kitbashing Old Start Collecting! CSM and Khorne from Age of Sigmar's old starter set.
My first kit bashing was getting flames of war tank pieces like gasoline machine guns etc Onto pop sickle sticks paint it and base it then it would look amazing
I love this!! Conversions and kitbashing some of my favorite aspects of the hobby!! Does anyone know where I can get conversion bits/heads especially for chaos ogres? Not ogre kingdoms.
They also have a conversion set for turning guardsmen into heretic guard, they're on my watchlist for that reason as well. Probably use that for my 'renegade mercenary' Imperial Guard's take on Scions.
Just starting my bits collection honestly, but I've already got several pieces I know I'm not going to use, so straight to the bits box with them. Also, just yesterday I got in some bits for a conversion I'm planning for Underworlds, so I'm looking forward to playing with that.
I like shaving all the dark angels crap off of models and space wolves stuff on them and adding beards. It’s nice seeing them come back to the imperium. As a side note, does anyone know if the puppets war arctic mask heads fit well on primaris models?
I have had all those places bookmarked save "Trolls Under the Bridge" You can add the following to your list. Master Crafted Miniature - mastercrafted.co.uk/ --- lots of shoulder pads, will custom make shoulder pads for you, torso bits, LOTS of hand gestures. The Dark Works - thedarkworks.bigcartel.com/ --- mostly chaos vehicle kits, especially trim and detail work but good quality parts. Hexy Store - hexy.store/ --- a bit of everything here
My friends and I used to kitbash Gundam models and make our own Gundam mobile suits. I am thinking about making my own Space Marine chapter, and would probably need to kitbash or convert some stuff, but I have concerns about gaming with them after.
I didn't hear you mention it, but if you play somewhere other than your house you might want to confirm they don't have a problem with non-Games Workshop bits on your model. A long-gone hobby store in my area had issues with non-GW bits or really using any model parts they likely didn't sell you. This might be an obsolete issue (freely admit that I'm an old-timer who hasn't played in forever), so feel free to educate me if shops have calmed down about this.
This guy needs to go into audio books I swear. His tone and voice is the reason i think I watch his channel over any other for table top miniatures.

Wargame Exclusive make High quality detail models that not even the brand new casted GW's models can match up with. I have bought several from them and I am looking forward them to increasing their catalog. By far the most impressive miniatures I have ever had.
Interesting, I didn't know what kitbashing is.
Take two seperate kits and mix them (Bash them)
Liberdaemonica has really amazing bitz!! Honorable Mention!!!!!
There's divisive kitbashing too...that's when you make an ultramarine look like Ron Johnson 😉
Yesterday i bought a chaos lord (the hammer guy) and it fell from my hands.
I had to get rid of his ponytail)
I wasn’t very happy with the bald head (mainly because i already have 2 bald guys) and i decided to kitbash it.
I'd love to get back into the hobby... don't know when or if it'll happen though. Growing a family takes precedence!
Thanks! I just got into WH40K and I stating to get all my material together to start my army. I think the figures are great looking but I wanted to make them my own and so I've been looking for independent companies for my custom look and these links you gave us are awsome. I hope you get some kick backs!
Full disclosure: none of those links are “affiliate” links or anything like that, so I’m not getting anything from you folks clicking on them. Just have fun with them. Thanks for watching!
Took a storm cast leader, the chick with the two axes, and I kitbashed her into a Grey Knight with two falchions. It's a pretty decent one
That sounds sweet, nice idea 👍
Its pretty neat how Stormcast Eternals can be grey knights with a little work
I loved listening to this and the guy with the huge knife in his stomach. That looks like a guy who doesn't care how tough you think you are. He'll set you straight.
That chaos lord... Bellissimo!
Kitbashing chaos tau is fun
Protos is from Poland. I love the resin kits of the aliens Drop Ship and the Colonial Marines Armoured personnel carrier. Very nice kits.
Sounds cool.the Khorne Blood Warriors kit from AoS has some great parts for that sort of stuff too
That could be really cool. I do hope they make new Berzerkers soon, but kitbashing works, too. Thanks for watching!
Hail PuppetsWars!
Forbidden gaming is cool, currently making a number of chaos themed 40k models from their sale page!
My first kit bashing was getting flames of war tank pieces like gasoline machine guns etc Onto pop sickle sticks paint it and base it then it would look amazing
There are others! I did not know of this you should touch on it asap.
Kromlech, Spellcrow & Scibor ❤❤❤
Only ever kitbashed gundam models I hope my knowledge can carry over to 40k models
Scibor's Egyptian bitz. How I built a Thousand Sons army back-in-the-day without paying for finecast.
Dont forget that the Death Star is 100% Kitbash
I love this!!
Conversions and kitbashing some of my favorite aspects of the hobby!!
Does anyone know where I can get conversion bits/heads especially for chaos ogres? Not ogre kingdoms.
Reptilian Overlords has a great looking range. On my list for Catachan kitbashing
They also have a conversion set for turning guardsmen into heretic guard, they're on my watchlist for that reason as well. Probably use that for my 'renegade mercenary' Imperial Guard's take on Scions.
I’ve never heard of Reptilian Overlords - I’ll have to check them out. Thanks for watching!
I have had all those places bookmarked save "Trolls Under the Bridge"
You can add the following to your list.
Master Crafted Miniature - mastercrafted.co.uk/
--- lots of shoulder pads, will custom make shoulder pads for you, torso bits, LOTS of hand gestures.
The Dark Works - thedarkworks.bigcartel.com/
--- mostly chaos vehicle kits, especially trim and detail work but good quality parts.
Hexy Store - hexy.store/
--- a bit of everything here
4:47 does he have a vid showcasing his kitbashed warband seen here?
Hahaha I'm using that captain right now for an Inquisitor.
So helpful thank you!
Have a great weekend friends!
I'm going to get back into the hobby 😁 by painting my Chaos : Slaves To Darkness army.
