I fucking love this band. They're always trying new things to incorporate into their landmark sound. Working with Marianne Faithful or Lady Gaga or the SFSO or Mikey Cyrus or Lou Reed. Okay, maybe every now and then something is a bit of a stumble, but for the most part it works. I'm sure there were critics in 1996 saying adding a female vocalist - and an "old" one at that - was a mistake, but who's saying that now? This song still hits hard in 2022. Metallica forever!
Fun fact: this weird spinning box is actually the room revolving around a platform, and James wore sunglasses so he could close his eyes because he was on the verge of throwing up the whole time.

To me, this is one of their best songs. It keeps me coming back for decades.
So i guess the memory did remain

Nana nana is the one part you’d never forget.
Load and reload are my favorite albums. The grungy bluesy sound was pretty damn good
Yep.. they have a weird fascination to me as well
I totally concur, love all the
“old shit” as James would say, but these are distinctly amazing for the reasons you mentioned and the lyrics in all the songs are very thought provoking.
Love this song... just can't stop, I love Metallica's "slow" songs like this one...
Yea he doesn't discriminate he likes to make songs for the gays also.
I forgot how great this song is.
The more time passes, the more you realize how high class this band was...

@@skeeter197140 That's your opinion, I still enjoy listening to their music all the time, they're always trying something new and never try to replicate their older albums. Think about it, they could of came out with another black album but they made an effort to make something fresh and different with a new sound.
High on drags?
not by this song. not by load, or reload, or st anger. everything else before, and even some stuff after, i would agree.
IS* they are still around and still kicking ass,
Been listening to Metallica since I was 8...Now I'm 36 ... !!! :D Anyone else began at early age, and still listen to Metallica to this day?? :D Love ya'll ..EDIT : Psyched for the new upcoming album.
I can't remember how old I was but I was pretty young when my mom first got Master of Puppets. I didn't become a true fan and listening for myself until I was a little older. Maybe around 12 ish. not as young as you but still haha
I was 7 seven years when i heard Metallica for the first time. I;m now 39. My sister had the the album Ride the Lightning.
I was born in 91 and grew up listening to them. Always been a metal head! you have ten years on me but still, and now my almost 5 year old is a metallica fan and asks to rock out to them daily!
I found out that when I was a baby my dad would lie me on a mat and leave me there with Metallica and heavy metal playing all the time
i was born in 89 still listen to em repeatedly thanks to my mom 👍
Ash To Ash Dust To Dust Fade To Black
Gregory Davis life it's seem will fade away....shit wrong song
Load and Reload the best albums of Metallica
This is one of those songs that keeps coming back every so often, and then you can't stop listening to it, for the next few days on repeat. This song was way ahead of its time. IT makes more sense nowadays than it did back in 1999.
Gets stuck in your head all day 😄 🤣 😂 😆 😱😱🍺🍺👊👊🤠
I seem to remember James talking about the making of this video. The platform they're on is actually stationary and the room rotated around them. He said he wore sunglasses so he could keep his eyes closed because it was making him nauseous.

Even if music as whole is gone one day, Metallica will survive... The Memory Remains!
As Metallica and I grow older, the memory off this song remains
The most underrated Metallica song ever🤘🏼
So true
This song is one of the most played live songs ever.
END OF AN ERA!
Credits to Marianne Faithfull to make "Na na na" sounds awesome.
Credits to the amazing crowds too who sing it for like an hour after the song ends (I know they don't sing it for an hour, you get the point).
Yeah. It really added a creepy vibe to sinister and hard hitting song.
Dararara rarara darararara asi dice wey!

James Hetfield never sings that part and it infuriates me
Another banger from the gospel of Metallica
Fortune, fame
Mirror, vain
Gone insane
But the memory remains
Heavy rings on fingers wave
Another star denies the grave
See the nowhere crowd cry the nowhere tears of honor
Like twisted vines that grow
Hide and swallow mansions whole
Dim the light of an already faded prima donna
Fortune, fame
Mirror, vain
Gone insane
Fortune, fame
Mirror, vain
Gone insane
But the memory remains
Heavy rings hold cigarettes
Up to lips that time forgets
While the Hollywood sun sets behind your back
And can't the band play on?
Just listen, they play my song
Ash to ash
Dust to dust
Fade to black

Mirror, vain

Rucka's version is much better, and more accurate.
Lars is a hobbit
@@Aspenstorpemusic it’s accurate though! That’s why he’s constantly standing while playing, because if he stays seated he can’t reach them.😂😂

I was mesmerized by this video as a kid. It's still just as cool!
+iridescentraindrops same.
+iridescentraindrops This video got me pumped up and psyched out when I was a kid. I begged my parents to get me the ReLoad album. Still love this song and that album.
I've been thinking exactly the same, pal!!!
Dos you know this Lady Is Mick Jagger's ex:)

Timeless
This is my all time favorite Metallica song and it kicks ass!
40 years, tragedy and turmoil, but this band has never broken up. 💞
They go to band therapy sessions. I imagine it really does help.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
METALLICA FOREVER!!!
Metallica blows dick, Grim Reaper's See You in Hell takes this outback and executes it Lassie style.
I am not religious, but when I hear this song, it's emotional.
It stirs pride in being from a Western Civilization ⛪✝️
The drumming in this song is just insane.
How so?
Hell nah, so many tatatata
R.I.P Cliff Burton, The Memory Remains...
@Parsapad so what remember Cliff??? Bad thing to do idiot???
Fun fact: this weird spinning box is actually the room revolving around a platform, and James wore sunglasses so he could close his eyes because he was on the verge of throwing up the whole time.
In The Netherlands we have a theme park (Efteling) with such a room. Its called Villa Volta.
I know I would too, lol
I knew the room was spinning and not the platform
So many hits when I’m randomly playing Metallica.. I end up listening for hours! 🤘
One of the best Metallica’s song !!!!
"La Da Da Da, Da Da Da.. La La Da Da"
No no, in concert it’s. OOOOH OH OH OH UH OH OH OOOH
Probably the dumbest part of any Metallica song. The more I think about it the funnier it gets. Actually kind of forgot about this one, it came out when I was in 8th grade
172 people liked this cuz you are a total babe. 🙃
I listened to this cool song in an online German radio after sooo many years and I started to listen this fabulous album again!
If you think this is a fabulous album wait untill you hear metallica albums that are above average
I'm am a 40 year old man who loves this music 😂
i cant unhear it now 🤧🤧🤧
Stop asking who's here in 2021, we never left
