@@Enjoy_the_climb_back_up thats impossible pretty much the tree becomes walk through half way unless you built a really unstable bridge all the way there yeah goodluck when something breaks it
I live on the oak tree, almost invincible, built on the mushrooms and such. Best location imo, have zip lines to the hedge, shed, and sand box. No enemies up there. Also pretty fun to kill spiders especially when there infected, 10/10 location imo.
@@aaronschwartz6289 You need to do the hedge lab and give the chip to burgl, then it’s around 10000 raw science to buy from the terminal, to craft it you need a decent amount of web fiber (depending on how long the zip line is) and some weed stems, hope this helped
i live there too and have a zip line system to every important location pretty much on the map. i haven’t played in a while, but i might play again in september
I built my base into the juice box next to the tree 👌🏻 no complaints so far, the juice box works perfect for one of your walls, and I put a liquid collector under the straw and it fills up with juice ;)
I feel as tho Grounded is a completely different game with 4 people. Which matters to base building. We chose a little dirt up lift giving us some higher ground. It has a rock on top of it. That rock has a leaf leaning on it creating some natural protection. We just recently expanded and started shifting our Base to all stem. The area we are in is about 150 cm from the first research station and is near the tree. Bc of this we get plenty of acorn, ladybugs, sap farm on one of the roots and many many more valuable resources. We’re near the pond so we get a few mosquitoes to kill every now and then. The benefit to having four people is that we can split up and run to different sides of the map. Divide and conquer. If the need arose to get Berries 2 of us would go to the bush. One would shoot them down the other would farm the Berries and protect the shooter. Me and him were the tanks and would kill almost everything. We were the bug farmers The other 2 in our group went and set up an outpost near all the bees and area of mosquitoes and they would farm those. Also… bc we had four we forgot to do the hedge lab first and strait up nailed the black ant farm instead. Off topic but the assistant manager boss fight is freaking incredible. So much fun. Anywho, my point is that if you have a bigger group it is so much easier to just build wherever.
I built on the pond off the rock just on the other side of the juice box from the side shown in the video. I built palisade walls around the rock then started on the rock & built down to the pond. I have a high deck surrounding the tree with zip lines everywhere so I can easily get whatever resources I need, I built a bridge to the field station in the pond so I can use that or the oak lab. I have a big base built but smaller ones as lil way stations in certain areas (sandbox is one obviously). Also there’s a milk molar bottle in the upper yard that provides potential build spot as its top end is buried but still can get inside & it’s see through.
Building on the pond. On the lily pads there is best to be safe. No direct connection to the ground, no moscitos and even spiders are just jumping into the water dying when you have a wall on this side. You are near to the oak and a perfect base for the underwater missions. Second we build a tower at the oak to have a base for all connections to the other parts of the garden we can easily get by zipline. ;)
Currently, my party has a decent 3 story base with palisades near the baseball as a mid area base. We are currently constructing a base under the rocks by the picnic table as our "end game" base. We also have a small alcove by the tunnel to the hedge for berry leather gathering. We tried to build a small acorn farming base at the tree, but spiders wrecked it so we gave up on it. I may talk to my guys bout building near that 2nd flower bed too. The castle base you showed looks awesome.
I built my main base just above the field station by the first baseball. It's been a great base, but the wolf spider who wanders by each night did take a few years off of my life quite a few times! The ants get mad and raid pretty often as well, but they are quite easy now that I surrounded my walls with spike strips. I sure do love Grounded!
I started playing grounded about a week ago and i live on the wood posts closer to the south side of the map. There is one wood post that you can climb onto with ease using a leaf, under the leaf is a field station so i always have access to quests and such. Also extra benefits of living there: when there is an ant raid/revenge going on, the ants cannot climb and destroy your base there if you have nothing connected to the ground; It's easy to connect ziplines to other places without having to clear any grass or other obstacles (i know you can do it from other locations with ease too but there is a better view when connecting ziplines).
i also use the exact same post as you in many of my world i have played for over 2 years but have never went as far as being bothered to make a zipline
I honestly still built near the baseball. Its easy enough to defend and building other outposts can help deter raids from your main base to instead go to an outpost. Raids will go off at the nearest reachable respawn point. So building forts around each raid faction can allow you to still safely build near the starting point and have a zipline network to get around the map quickly.
I live on a lillypad!! My friends live on a rock near it, but i think the lilypads are quite nice! Theres plenty of food as of now, and not many threats. The only problem i've found was hauling grass and weeds over, but with a zipline and some platforms it's just fine.
Dont live inside the soda can by the board with rusty nails seems like a good spot bc the resarch station and red ant hill being close by but me and my friend have had two giant orb weavers and two wolf spiders camping us out since day 7
since the final release about of these areas are so much more dangerous. i stay near the mysterious machine by the ant hill. i rarely get attacked by spiders, no mosquitoes, lots of ladybugs and the occasional ant attacks or stray soilder ant.
While it can eventually get cramped a bit, it IS possible to build inside the can next to the oak tree near the lemon puncho. Approximately 1 length away from the entrance inside you can place a floor in line with the side walls. Use a half stair or wall for height, and then build floors and half floors for the base there. It allows a generous amount of clipping into the sides and I have managed a full 3 story base inside with it being my main base even into late game. I also built a large tower for ziplines using scaffolds and stairs on one of the posts nearby, which allows for full yard traversal, along with a nearby thistle trap protected porch with a zipline to the top of the tower. Also its possible to clip a sap catcher on the nearby root into the can for safe sap collection. So far wolf spiders and other raids have proven unable to attack the interior.
My base is located between the pond and burgl on the rocks behind the oak tree. It’s an absolutely incredible place for resources but the downside is it’s a very far walk to the sandbox. But everything else is right there and I also used the tree as a place to put a zipline to the upper yard so it barely even takes anything to get up there, grab the resources, and come back. Couldn’t recommend it enough :)
I have mine on big lillypad cluster near juicebox, and only raids i have were red ants x2, and black ants (after doing lab), mosquitos and bees dont seem to mind me at all at this corner of the pond, and only them could be any real threat to me, since no bug can jump that far. Close to the lab, easy farming for sap and grubs (those armors dont upgrade themselfs), plenty of food, and the view on the pond is just splendid :D
I always build on the lantern by the oak tree. There is also an anchor point on the back of the oak, so you can cut off any connection to the ground. You can also build right up to the beehive on the oak tree. From there you can travel the whole map in a few seconds via ziplines.
With my current playthrough, I have built above the leaves at the entrance to the Oak Tree lab (which was established before the bugs strick back update). After the update, I increased the height a little bit. Despite quite literally being built above a wolf spider spawn it still isn't an issue. My base is high enough up that it doesn't aggro the wolf spider and I have found a place where I can shoot at/kill it and despite it being able to jump it can't jump up to me due to leaves. I will say that at this stage I have yet to turn off the haze. So not sure how I will fare against the infected Wolf Spider. For my next playthrough, I am not sure that I will build my mane base here. It all depends on how things go when I turn off the haze. I haven't had too many base raids and those that I have had so far have mainly been spiders. Where I built they have not yet been able to get to me. Is a handy spot, fairly central for resources ect.
I am building a new full on tree base with the latest update. First thing I did was window wall all the under oak entrances. It’s not perfect but it does cut down in spider traffic.
I think its a viable option still and like you I have a walkway that completely circles the tree just above the solitary wolf spider. This level houses all the returning ziplines from all parts of the yard. On this level I build a 15 jump bounce web tower and then circle the tree again at the higher level which houses all the high zip lines to the rest of the yard. My only change needs to be that on the lower level I run an outer stairway with 3 levels that run down to Oak Tree Lab door. My lowest floor level is a jump height above the stone outside the door. BUT I did build a porch and doorway surrounding the lab entrance and in an Orb Weaver raid they did take down part of the porch so I may need to get rid of it. However, I could use it as a dummy so they feel they have "paid me back" lol. Aside from this the Oak Tree has acorns for building machines, sap for lighting, close to pond for muscle sprouts, juice canisters, mushrooms close by for food/building, grubs for upgrades, aphids and weevils for food, grass and dried grass which although a little walk is made easier now we can carry 22 planks. If you dont aggro the Infected Wolf Spider you are ok but DONT fire at it with a pebble turret or it WILL JUMP to the turret and take it down......lol. Best approach (because of the explosions that cant be blocked) is a Lv 9 Crossbow with Fresh arrows and with the right set up you can take it down in 10 hits or less (some don't register). Its still a pain though as if it gives up and walks away it can regenerate health so you have to keep it aggroed (BUT NOT BY TURRET lol)
Just built a huge house on the deck and a zipline from the deck to the javamatic. The trip takes 3 minutes but skips everything which is pretty awesome. The deck has easily become my favorite place.
My parties main hun is this compound in front of the oak tree, built around the lemon juice box and it still works out great as we have a central tower set up to go everywhere. I recommend an oak tree main base just because of how close It is to incredibly important resources, the acorn shells alone. If you’re worried about things jumping into your base, just build 4 to 5 plank walls. Keeps the spiders from being able to jump in which is the most important thing to consider.
I built one of my bases on top of the wood with the axe in it by the termites. Just built it around the axe and bugs usually lose interest before they even get up to my base to attack it. I also built one inside the soda can on the pond on the left side of the tree. The sides of the can protect you better than any wall you can build and they don’t have to be repaired. I did build a wall around it for extra storage though and to make it look more like a house and it’s been a great location.
So my main base is a 4-floor base under the porch (next to the paint can and two over from where the wolf spider "lives". It's the full width from one joist to the other. And from the ground all the way up to the bottom of the porch. The whole outside wall is stem-walls and a palisade on the floor level guarded by spike strips. Since they can't attack or destroy the porch structure, I'm pretty safe from most attacks. I just need to find out if flying insects can make it through the arched windows because that could be a problem.
my current server has 2 bases set up on the east and west sides of the deck at the house. Height is fantastic and you're safe from pretty much everything. Also gives a major advantage with ziplines now that the ascender is in the game. 10/10 recommend considering building your next base up there. Easiest way up is on the east side near where the bombardier beetles spawn
I built my castle on the middle stepping stones. I have like a great wall of china going from the casset tape all the way to the jump up into the upper yard, with the plan to make it go all the way to the porch eventually as well.
Building on top of the juice box not a lot of enemies because i haved walled off the juice box lol its also fun just shooting at the spiders from the juice box
I actually still live on the baseball. I think it's a quite decent place and somewhat underrated. It's not the most central place but it's not the far side of the yard either. With my huge Zipline network I can go almost everywhere quite fast. In my eyes it has two advantages: 1) It never ever gets raided by any sort of flying creatures. everything that attacks there ist easy to fight off and is rarely able to damage my base at all. 2) It has a free respawn Point nearby. No matter where I set my actual respawn Point when adventuring I can always chose to go back there and resupply. I also have several outposts but most are just zipline towers. The only larger Outpost is near the Pond to have easy access to Burgl. It is located ton the little fence around the flowerbed west of the oak tree it usually doesn't attract the mosquitos but sometimes the wolf spider comes wandering by. While the ordinary wolf spider isn't that a big deal the infected one that shows up after you turn off the haze is a real pain in the ass. I am not sure if it's a bug but that thing not only hits like a truck and throws bombs, but can also jump up everywhere. It once jumped straight to the top of my zipline Tower (the ordinary wolf-spider can not even jump up the log on which the Tower is built) The funny thing is that is not resistant to fall damage and I saw it die more than once when it jumped up somewhere incredibly high and then attempted to jump down again to go after me and died from the fall.
Make a tiny grass hut with basic crafting benches around the survey station by the machine at the start and move once you can kill everything with ease. You’ll be doing so much research at the vary start it’ll save you so much time. That’s what I did then moved to the massive flat rock to the left of the fence.
I built my main base between the mysterious machine and the oak tree using the leaf on the ledge there. Built up some pallisade fencing to protect the stairs leading up into the base, using the stick on the other side as a secondary entrance. We've only really had red ants and orb weavers come and attack us there. The main reason for the fencing was the roaming wolf spiders but once we put the fence up it wasnt an issue and most of the time we jump down and kill them anyway
The haze area is not a bad spot to build. You don't need grass as you can hold hundreds of mushroom bricks in your inventory. The haze area is probably the best faming area for quartzite and crow feathers.
Yeah, still rocking the baseball base..... Just put a huge square of clay foundation in top, It was off the ground, there's a field lab right next to it, reasonably centered, good resources, any attacks by bug factions are ineffective by land. After the early game, I extended spiral staircase upwards to a multi zipline platform station about as high as the shrink ray tripods. I have lines stretching to high points throughout the yard, which take me (and building materials) down to more relevant local areas near the higher zipline hub. I now have a farm base on the middle stones slightly away from the BBQ where the stone paths meet and one south of Moldorc playset close to widow ( meh I like turret fighting with the Skeeters) for bird bath/hedge access etc. Base ball Base is still my home plate.😅
I just got back into Grounded after leaving before the pond update. I left during the "Great Drought" which was a glitch that kept water drops from spawning. So happy they referenced that in game! I'm a mini base builder and will likely build bases all over the yard. I've got my eyes on the hedge, a lillypad and the flat rock right now, but my main base is still on the Baseball. Why do you not recommend the good ole Baseball for a base? I've not had any raids trigger over there, the red ants don't bother me there despite being close to their anthill. They always attack my Welp Soda-can base instead... (I also haven't bothered the bees yet, so maybe that's a thing) From the Baseball, I've cheesed the wolf spider, nearby stinkbug and ladybugs that wander around and it feels like the safest spot in the whole yard to be honest. It is the spawn-point after all. Is there some reason why the Baseball isn't going to stay safe in the Endgame? Something I haven't gotten to yet? Because once I get Mushroom bricks I'm totally making that a Chubby Chubbs Castle! 😁
Baseball is OK but wold spiders do start patrolling closer to it as you play, also for me you end up building around it instead of really using it, so good starter but nit permenant home,
@@JadePGC Hmmm ok. In mine, the Wolf Spiders just walk right under my floor and not notice me at all. I've only ever had an issue with a nearby Stinkbug spawn that I made the mistake of angering and leading him back to my base. He destroyed the acorn spiral staircase I spent a while building (I just use a bounce web now) and then got stuck under the footprint where I couldn't kill him, but he could still gas me out, lol. I had to let him de-spawn along with all the dropped acorn pieces. I'm going to stick with it for a bit just to see how long I keep my Baseball base. It's still my favorite spot in the yard. 😊 For replying to my comment, you sir, have earned a like and a sub! 😁👍
I built my base on the oak tree about a foot above the wolf spiders. I have ziplines to the upper yard, picnic table, and sand box. It's one of the best bases I could choose because there aren't any mosquitos or other flying insects. The only problem I could see is how long it would take to make the zip lines or staircase up. But over all, it's worth it. It also gives an advantage because you can see the yard as a whole from a high point.
Recently started a new run with a couple of friends, we have made a base on top of the toenail ash tray and produced a toenail shrine. No raids yet and had the base for a while now, some great zip-line points though as it’s super high up.
There is a new location I found, it is between the baseball bat and the chair. If you go up the baseball bat to the uppermost point where the baseball bat touches the chair, there will be an option to build and yes it is the only spot in that area that allows you to build the blueprint (it's supported). The only downside is that because it's the only supported structure, all other building pieces will rely on it. So you will need to protect that one piece as much as possible otherwise the whole thing will come crumbing down.
Mine is on the baseball, but we've built a castle on it pretty much lol with a spiral stair case and platforms connected to them for zip wires to ravel around around. We've never had any issues really and once the zip wire is in place, travelling is simple.
Is it just me or did I build right next to the mystery machine. In the foot print next to the baseball. Not much of a base, just a 3 story tall box made out of grass Also I have zip lines to oak tree, hedge, sandbox, and close to picnic table. I have a stair case up to the table
i know the baseball is an "early game" home but its actually been the best place for me thus far. most hostile bugs dont spawn there and its high up and its a good central location and theres a lot of resources around it. contrast that to the flooded rush island, which spawns a mosquito if youve been off the island for too long like exploring a lab, there are many hostile bugs that spawn on the mainland around the island including but not limited to , larvas, bombadiers, mites, orb weavers, and an early spawning wolf spider, and its very far away from almost everything. my problem with the lily pads and the stone lantern thing is that there are no resources out there and its also really far from everything. ive also seen orb weavers on the mainland around the pond where the juice box is. the problem with the tree or the fence stumps is that the area is essentially orb weaver city. that being said, i do have a mini base for sap collection near one of the roots of the oak tree, which seems to be a safe area so far. i used to try to build by juice boxes but then i learned that i could craft a dew catcher after i went through the hedge lab, so they kind of became obsolete. i do kind of plan on making mini bases at areas where i can farm resources like under the hedge for berry pieces or even by the pond for wax or eel grass and easy access to the pond lab. my point is, the baseball is the best place.
I build my first base on the baseball and every time I get there, there is a big spider stuck in my house. (Wolfsspinne in german) I can beat her because she is stucked, but now I want to move up to the oak.
Right now my main base is a castle-ish base next to the juice box on the edge of the pond , so far the only problem is that it is far away from the grill and sandbox . I’m soon gonna try and fix that by making a zip line to my outpost at the first field station . I’ve never been raided by anything which I think is kind of disappointing because I just wanna experience it
On my friends save, we have our main base there as well. We’ve only gotten raided by orb weavers at that location. Not a bad spot except for what you’ve already mentioned. The distance from the shed, sandbox, and upper yard. Which can be dreadful haha. I need to make a zipline
i picked the worst spot by acccidently basing next to the secret larva cave and eventually they just took my base over the only wasy to kill the tens of then was to bring over a stink bug but they would eventually just respawn think of it like basing on top of the ant hive but replace them with larva
I actually built me a castle under the middle of the picnic table. Used clover roofs to get out to start building in the air. Still working out how to connect the ceiling to the table so I can remove those roofs and make my SECRET LAIR, lol.
I just built at that pad where the embiggening rays point. Having three big landmarks in the lazers that each point the way home is very helpful and that pad is almost exactly center in the yard. I have a small outpost near the pond and some fire spits and dew catchers across the yard that I use to replenish food and water supplies. I put a grass wall up the first day and then I put a palisade wall up outside at some point after. The only raids I get are red ants and larva and they're a joke. That pad also has a large rock and an unbreakable bush that can be used to lob arrows at the occasional wolf spider that passes by. If things really do go south, you can go inside the pad and nothing bigger than an ant can get in there after you.
My buddy and I are built inside of the pond house by the edge of the wall. No bug ever bothers us and we have zip lines set up to go everywhere. We also built a staircase all the way up along the tree, not kidding lol. When you hit the zip line to our base, you go so fast that you actually die when you reach the end of the zip line
I built our (friends game) base as a sort of elven/faerie castle that has the mysterious machine as its center. I built the walls around the sides of the inner keep such that there are windows perfectly lined up to allow the rays to beam through them and to the machine. It’s actually pretty easily defended, sits at a low enough point that attaching hooks on the upper area allows for zip lining in from almost every place in the yard, and more. The only real unfortunate part is distance to certain parts of late game. Other than that, it’s easy to start (just build clay foundations around and add walls), and easy to expand upon, growing it outwards and upwards as progressing through the game.
I built near the first science station as a temporary camp. Got the red ant armor and a torch and descended into the red ant hill. Got the chip there and moved to the flower bed which i now use as my raw science farm and upgrade crafting place.
I had a lotta success with the hedge by instead of walking places i used the nearby porch as a transportation hub for ziplines. The porch is high enough and flat enough that it makes a great spot to set up ziplines.
I built a house right next the the research lab on the log by the termites and got a raid one time and couldn’t reach my base. I think that one is pretty good.
my friend and I currently base out of the can by the Oak Tree, a really open spot outside for dew collectors, and we use the lamp post closer to the 3 mosquitos as a huge zip line network to reach to and from every end of the yard, using the diving bells and orb weavers for silk. Wolf spiders are a pain, but we play smart at night to not get agro from them
My friends and I built around the frakenline and up on the stones to the upper yard. Built a huge zipline tower. It has been the best spot for a long time. Close to alot of resources
Me and my friend just built a floating castle on the pong, just one narrow bridge connecting to the oak tree with several turrets pointing down it, super easy to defend
I build my base under the deck, it's an awesome place to build because the deck gives you three sides of unbreakable walls and a roof - all you need to do is build a wall blocking the front and you are completely safe.
I have bunch a little bases every where, but my main on is on the red juice box in grass lands I like it cus there mushrooms amd stems and not much bad bugs
Oak tree Lab best base period. Built a Walkway all around the tree to the lab (when you still needed to go there) to dodge the spiders and a base on the poles right to the field station, nothing gets to me and everything is near...after I came back to the game after a year, added a mushroom tower on the roots up high and created a zipline system and you get accessibillity to everywhere. Always gonna be the best place for me, because I use so many ladders so need to bust so many acorns. Ofc, I do have some forward bases, but small, my main will always be there.
I have a base I built 2 or 3 months ago between the hedge and the upper yard on stilts. I built it for two reasons, to easily explore the stuff they added and collect berry leather. I don't really need berry leather anymore though.
I've built my base all way up on the tree with all of its surroundings walled up so that wolf spiders can't run around freely. It also made the base accessible as I can build around the tree to access all biomes as I've built everything at the top where I can zipline anywhere. as for the foundations. I've built multiple walls below that will really protect me from raids.
Good video, how do you do that huge free cam mode? I've tried the photo mode but it limits you pretty heavily to your character location and immediate surroundings.
That’s why I came to the comments section. I’ve tried to do a search for drone mode and I was planning to try using the photo mode. Obviously, this would be very handy to know.
Ok, I found out that you could enter free cam mode using Alt+U on keyboard. I don’t know if it still works and I don’t know how to do it on console, yet.
I currently have an outpost base within the stone slabs and rarely are the mosquitos an issue. The are on the side closer to the pond, and most of my activity at this base is at the picnic table and sandbox.
I played this game in the very beginning and kinda liked it. Game was a bit barebone so I lost interest after a while. Looks like this game improved a lot and I can't wait to start a new playthrough. Any game where I can slaughter mosquitos sounds good to me😁
I like to build on the Juice box by the tree, not the one near the pond. There is a root that raises off of the ground with a tunnel under it, this is where I made the stairs up to the juice box. I built a large Castle/Mansion. It is tall enough that I was able to make sip-lines that run to the hedge and one to the shed area. so far nothing is able to get to me, ants will attack anything on the ground or will swarm under the juice box but they are easily dealt with.
If you pause the vid at 12:32 I've built my base on the slab in the bottom left of the screen I have a ramp made from 1 clover roof and 1grass floor going from the next slab over up to my base, as long as this ramp stops short of the top of my slab (meaning every time I use the ramp I still need to jump up) my base is safe from virtually everything there's a wolf spider occasionally comes around but nvr climbs up only bugs in the immediate area is a rolly polly and 2 ladybird larva, easy peezy. Every time I get revenge attacked I kinda just stand around waiting, more I think about it it's actually kinda boring lol kinda gotta go out of my way so the wave can actually reach me 😏 got weed stems, clay, and toadstools near easy access to the bbq, the woodpile, the ravine and the under shed the wall is a decent highway as well👍
I have a base built on the 'last' rock before it breaks toward the picnic table, the one with the thistle plant nearby. Once in a while I will have to wait for a wolf spider to leave the area but mosquitos have not bothered it at all. Most I get is a handful of fireflies trying to get my dew collector
I have a little “mini-base” on the discus in the Hedge that I use whenever I want to watch the Broodmother burn (although I just got her golden card so idk if I’ll use the base)
i built a base on top of the hedge. getting things connected r easy, but its hard to defend in a raid against anything that flys. after awhile if u go down through a hole with a wall of even grass its very easy to defend against the raids be the just attack the base but the always come from the same place. u can also fall down in the back corner and get inside the bush. u can also build in the bush where nothing can get u at all and you can see the broodmother area which i thought was kinda cool.
if you just walk straight out of Burgles lab until you hit the pond then i made my base right on the edge of the pond. nothing comes over (besides a few wolf spiders but a fencse makes it easy to ignore) i find making a bridge across the pond gives easy acess to the upper yard and many other resorces. also i keep getting weevles spawning inside my fence so free food XD
My base is in the berry bush in the upper yard great little spot i just need to figure out the stairs because i already built it but just used plliars to get up until i finalized the build but it is really well hidden and is nice and cozy 🙂
My wife built a high level hiway from our BBQ base to every major point of interest. It's higher then the head of the gnome statue and goes all the way to the hedge and all points in between
My best base spot atm is near the grill on the rocks at the edge if the upper yard area. Only accesible through a stick naturally. Had one raid there with red ants and they didn't even got near the base. Before that I had a big base at the water tap on the slabs but that was overflown with mosquitoes at some point.
me and my mates base is built on the leaf by the machine, since its almost in the centre of the map, close to the science outpost, oak tree area and plenty of stuff
Honestly if you want a well protected easy place in the hedge there’s an ant totem place and it’s basically a cave with 1 entrances so it’s small but easily defendable
If you build right on the 3rd stone to the left in the 2nd level of the flower bed it is a really safe place only bad part is bees but it is to high for any other bugs
There's a rock that I build on towards the left side of the yard near the wood wall and pond. Its high up enough that spiders can't jump up on and I've only been raided by red ants. There is usually a bombardier beetle and some prb weavers but midgame to endgame its a nice spot
I've built my base on top of the soda can near the oak tree. Nothing seems to be able to get up there and the only bug violence I've encountered has been to my scaffolds I've placed for aesthetic reasons - and they've only been attacked twice my entire play through (I'm just waiting for the final release now, so it's been a while). You get plenty of grub hides for armour upgrades and food, it's central, lots of liquid nearby until you build a dew collector... I also get visits from fireflies who seem obsessed with said dew collector. Two of them always buzz harmlessly into it for some reason.
You missed out using ziplines to connect to and from points in the garden so being to one side or another isn't really a problem you can send resources down ziplines. From the hedge for example a build above hedge ascent with a catwalk going from the roof of the build leading to outside of the leaves then tower up you can reach every area of the garden from upper pond to the trash area and everything in-between. Making use of ziplines makes every area viable to build in . Yes it may take a little longer to farm and send resources over to X area but that's not really an issue.
ziplines and using them in places like that for me are deffo for more experienced and hardercore players, teh resources alone to build anetwork are pretty vast, bottome line for me when playng its what is easier and building in good spot close to most resources trumps location for astethics etc
@@steve8339 again I disagree, not zip lines everywhere is something more experienced players do, you can't even unlock them till you get the right chip, so saying build anywhere in base location video and use zip lines just isn't right, tips for future players sure
@@JadePGC your video doesn't mention just for new players so it either should be renamed or added if the videos is meant for all players then ziplines should be mentioned as at least a side note
@@steve8339 when do you unlock zipline dude? not til ya in game henc ewy i didnt use them as basis even with ziplines i stand by what i said, its stil tie consuming carting anything anywhere, logically putting base close to resources or easy access to areas makes more sence
While I feel everyone is super creative and enjoying thier games in their own way was I the only one who just made a custom game with the reactivity turned off cause I couldn’t deal with the flying enemies wrecking everything
I built my base where the base at 11:46 is and it’s so easy to farm roll polys and the main raids that happen there can’t get to our base. The only downside is ladybird larvae.
I actually built my base on top of the baseball. Nothing can get up there. I've built pop outs and balconys so that I can arrow the wolf spider, but he can't get to me. I kill him every time he walks by... works for me
Have one base near burgle in the trees base and another near the red ant hill. Defending isn’t too bad just annoying when I take any eggs and they immediately want revenge.
I have a base on the footprint area. And I'm not attacked by any bug. I'm close to red ants, even wolf spiders often come around. I have plenty of resources. So I disagree about it not being safe. My base is fortified, so big even bugs couldn't notice I'm there.
It's a shame we can't build in any of the labs, I tried to do that in the pond lab, would be awesome to have an underwater base^^
If you’re on pc install we mod there’s a cheat that says “build anywhere”
I built a tree house base at the top of the tree
@@Enjoy_the_climb_back_up thats impossible pretty much the tree becomes walk through half way unless you built a really unstable bridge all the way there yeah goodluck when something breaks it
I live on the oak tree, almost invincible, built on the mushrooms and such. Best location imo, have zip lines to the hedge, shed, and sand box. No enemies up there. Also pretty fun to kill spiders especially when there infected, 10/10 location imo.
Great Idea!
Yep I agree and I have like 20 zip lines going across the map, I’m abit more up from the mushrooms tho so I get places faster on ziplines
How do you build zip lines? 👀
Did the same for our main base 😁
We did the same for our base but it's more so in the middle
11:30 where do i get sap in this location
Second we build a tower at the oak to have a base for all connections to the other parts of the garden we can easily get by zipline. ;)
Learn how spell mosquitoes bro💀 probably spell bologna, “balowny”
@@astroyomen Na, you spell it baloney
We got exactly this setup too 😂
Currently, my party has a decent 3 story base with palisades near the baseball as a mid area base.
Me who still lives beside the growing machine
I built my main base just above the field station by the first baseball. It's been a great base, but the wolf spider who wanders by each night did take a few years off of my life quite a few times! The ants get mad and raid pretty often as well, but they are quite easy now that I surrounded my walls with spike strips. I sure do love Grounded!
My baice is around the lake juice box since coiy pond update is safe just don't get to close to the wold spiders
i have mine there too... the ants are the only thing thats raided me so far
Me and my mother do too! Quite peaceful we found till getting spawn killed by a wolf but we killed the bugger after a bit.
Just wait till you get to ng +3 you will be able to build teleporters which will make the ziplines the thing of the past 🤘
I personally built it on the house porch, not the shed one. and I just made zip lines to everywhere and you were right about the time it takes :D
Dont live inside the soda can by the board with rusty nails seems like a good spot bc the resarch station and red ant hill being close by but me and my friend have had two giant orb weavers and two wolf spiders camping us out since day 7
1 tip for for turrets. Build them on clover roof ramps. That way you can aim towards the ground and still be able to cover the sky!
If you can swap the clover roofs to cobblestone ramps, you'll have a angled platform to fire off of that's more durable too!
since the final release about of these areas are so much more dangerous. i stay near the mysterious machine by the ant hill. i rarely get attacked by spiders, no mosquitoes, lots of ladybugs and the occasional ant attacks or stray soilder ant.
Your base sounds dope ngl
Gonna try it
Does it still drop soda?
@@JOJO-kh9ck yes, although it's sometimes under the first floor and sometimes on it. Generally on the floor more often though.
If you stand on the straw in the juicebox next to the pond the wolf spider can't attack you either.
I built a massive floating castle on the pond near the juicebox, it does get more mosquito raids, but not a crazy overwhelming number.
Just built a huge house on the deck and a zipline from the deck to the javamatic. The trip takes 3 minutes but skips everything which is pretty awesome. The deck has easily become my favorite place.
I live about 150 cm from the plank, its a good base spot but i didn't know about the 3 wolf spiders and one orb weaver nearby
My parties main hun is this compound in front of the oak tree, built around the lemon juice box and it still works out great as we have a central tower set up to go everywhere. I recommend an oak tree main base just because of how close
It is to incredibly important resources, the acorn shells alone. If you’re worried about things jumping into your base, just build 4 to 5 plank walls. Keeps the spiders from being able to jump in which is the most important thing to consider.
You can make walls to close the openings beneath the oak tree roots, that's where the spiders spawn. This way you make a prison for them.
Build on water and ground bugs won't know you exist.
Same!!
Ascender?
I built my castle on the middle stepping stones. I have like a great wall of china going from the casset tape all the way to the jump up into the upper yard, with the plan to make it go all the way to the porch eventually as well.
Building on top of the juice box not a lot of enemies because i haved walled off the juice box lol its also fun just shooting at the spiders from the juice box
'The Juice Box' So descriptive. There's only what, 7? 10 of them? Lol. Rubbish help their m8
I actually still live on the baseball.
I think it's a quite decent place and somewhat underrated.
It's not the most central place but it's not the far side of the yard either.
With my huge Zipline network I can go almost everywhere quite fast.
In my eyes it has two advantages:
1) It never ever gets raided by any sort of flying creatures. everything that attacks there ist easy to fight off and is rarely able to damage my base at all.
No longer is it a good spot for quartzite after you mined everything, outdated
I currently just live in the spacr, i just built hella walls around it as barriers but i wanna build a actual base
Baseball is OK but wold spiders do start patrolling closer to it as you play, also for me you end up building around it instead of really using it, so good starter but nit permenant home,
@@JadePGC
Hmmm ok.
For replying to my comment, you sir, have earned a like and a sub!
Not much of a base, just a 3 story tall box made out of grass
Also I have zip lines to oak tree, hedge, sandbox, and close to picnic table.
(Wolfsspinne in german)
I can beat her because she is stucked, but now I want to move up to the oak.
I made a bridge to the pagoda and have built a nice stem base inside of it. I immediately thought of building there when i first discovered it
My buddy and I are built inside of the pond house by the edge of the wall.
3:05 is exactly where my base is. It’s an amazing spot and I love being built there. Nothing bothers you there
I have bunch a little bases every where, but my main on is on the red juice box in grass lands I like it cus there mushrooms amd stems and not much bad bugs
It'll all be destroyed
Me and my friends live on the Lilypads, now every morning, we have like 5 tadpoles to kill and we set up the water catchers so its kinda good
Good video, how do you do that huge free cam mode? I've tried the photo mode but it limits you pretty heavily to your character location and immediate surroundings.
That’s why I came to the comments section. I’ve tried to do a search for drone mode and I was planning to try using the photo mode. Obviously, this would be very handy to know.
Ok, I found out that you could enter free cam mode using Alt+U on keyboard. I don’t know if it still works and I don’t know how to do it on console, yet.
My friend had a house near Rash, basically, it’s on a little island in the flooded zone. It’s a good spot and only flying insects bother him
I currently have an outpost base within the stone slabs and rarely are the mosquitos an issue. The are on the side closer to the pond, and most of my activity at this base is at the picnic table and sandbox.
I played this game in the very beginning and kinda liked it. Game was a bit barebone so I lost interest after a while. Looks like this game improved a lot and I can't wait to start a new playthrough. Any game where I can slaughter mosquitos sounds good to me😁
I’ve built two bases in two different plays. First was incorporating the science tent near the machine and second was next to the machine.
I just started today how does one aquire the ability to make floors. I have walls and scaffold but no floors
Buy it from science shop
Same, but the branch next to it. Set up a sweet outpost with an elevator, still hunting that gold card though. Jealous lol.
@@joshschwartz4996 I got it on my seventh kill (lord it took forever)
and yes I did it in creative with bugs, I’m a wuss
@@daamazingfireman5566 I had so much fun completing what's available so far on creative with bugs lol
i built a base on top of the hedge. getting things connected r easy, but its hard to defend in a raid against anything that flys. after awhile if u go down through a hole with a wall of even grass its very easy to defend against the raids be the just attack the base but the always come from the same place. u can also fall down in the back corner and get inside the bush. u can also build in the bush where nothing can get u at all and you can see the broodmother area which i thought was kinda cool.
if you just walk straight out of Burgles lab until you hit the pond then i made my base right on the edge of the pond. nothing comes over (besides a few wolf spiders but a fencse makes it easy to ignore) i find making a bridge across the pond gives easy acess to the upper yard and many other resorces. also i keep getting weevles spawning inside my fence so free food XD
The stump by the termite den is unraidsble aside from flyers. I got a elevator there to get back and forth from my main base at the baseball.
Before that I had a big base at the water tap on the slabs but that was overflown with mosquitoes at some point.
me and my mates base is built on the leaf by the machine, since its almost in the centre of the map, close to the science outpost, oak tree area and plenty of stuff
i made a 3 story castle at the oak lab pond area, its pretty cool cause wr got a huge bridge to get to the upper garden
I have 2 bases, one is near a light post and the other one is in the haze biome (turned off) and it has a grave for the Asst. Manager.
I built a base in the half submerged can in the yard actually really good haven't had any attacks
There's a rock that I build on towards the left side of the yard near the wood wall and pond. Its high up enough that spiders can't jump up on and I've only been raided by red ants. There is usually a bombardier beetle and some prb weavers but midgame to endgame its a nice spot
Nobody: Here's a good spot. This guy: MOSQUITOS
@@JadePGC that isn't really my point my point was that it should of being included in the video for info purposes
We just got our asses kick by orb weaver. Our base is no more xD
Well we need to find a better place now...
I built under the nome but did not notice the wolf spider den in the back of course
I built mine on top of the brawny boy bin it’s a giant mushroom brick pryamid and only raids that can happen are mosquito and wasps
I built next to the juice box by the pond. Great spot
I have a base on the footprint area. And I'm not attacked by any bug. I'm close to red ants, even wolf spiders often come around. I have plenty of resources. So I disagree about it not being safe. My base is fortified, so big even bugs couldn't notice I'm there.
