Another nice point about the lily pads is tadpoles are one of the most plentiful food sources. Water fleas can also be eaten raw and they give both hunger and thirst replenishment.
I've been building on the oak tree itself. There's a spot by the Beacon that's great to start your stairs at and you can build actually really high and around the entire tree to reach all sides with ziplines to and from. Only issue you may have is raids by flying creatures, but they tend to not do much when you get higher tier building materials
Agree with this, the wolf spiders can't get to you and the only real issue is the random bees getting stuck in your base sometimes, they don't aggro when you get close to them either, so it's great. Plus the light nearby is great ambience at night
Thanks for the idea! I managed to make it better (what I think is better anyways.) if you put down a scaffold with a grass floor on it down near the oak lab entrance, you can then climb pretty high (already high enough to be safe,) but if you put more scaffold and floors down then you can get high enough up to make a zipline to the upper yard area. I saw this comment and decided to go into creative mode and try it out, and putting the starting scaffold at the oak lab entrance alone gives several good items. 1. Easy access to burgle, the resource scanner, the computer and analyzer 2. Easy food at the pond 3. Easy building resources And then if you build high enough then that base can be your main base ALL game. The pros about it are: 1. Very safe, too high for most creatures 2. Zip lines to a lot of the yard, including the upper yard 3. Easy bee fuzz if you need it since they fly to the tree pretty commonly 4. Very nice view 5. Allows for night time building 6. You can make several floors (so far I’ve only made 2) Cons: 1. it can be hard to build because of structural integrity 2. Resources are a pain to drag up the tree to the base 3. Zip lines are very expensive 4. It’s extremely difficult to wrap the base around the whole tree, but if you do so then you gain access to pretty much the whole yard So honestly, for building on the oak tree, it’s good and bad
@@rumissileI’m sorry but the wolf spiders can get on there they jump onto the leaf and then jump onto the Lilly pad at least it happened to me and I hate the Lilly pad now
I have built several bases. My main base and hub is baseball. Have now distributed 12 bases on the whole map. Sandbox, on the pond, in front of the hedge, etc. They are all in places where no enemies can get. I connected all the bases with spider silk. No more walking to the next base :D
I’m just starting out in the game after watching Mark, Bob and Wade play through some of it in some old videos. The best location I’ve discovered so far is the baseball for housing. Very few spider attacks and many weevils and mushrooms. Plus I’ve been building with stalks, weed stems, clovers, dry grass, crude fibers, etc and it’s all situated near me. Plus a field station isn’t far and the haze has good resources as well. It is a bit far from other things though and occasionally a wolf spider patrols and a small group of orb weaver jrs come over for revenge for something I didn’t do😂 You can build outward and upward off of the ball for more space too and just install staircases to get up with surrounding walls and fences with gates for added layers or defense and protection since the building materials do offer less strength and defense than others.
The lily pad site has been my favorite main base pretty much all along, start on the near pads then expand into a floating palace. Baseball and hedge ascent end up being farming bases, the ball for haze fungus and red ant eggs, and the hedge for berries and spider silk. The hose coil used to be a good site, but it got patch-nerfed, I'm still trying to figure out a good spot in that area, especially if 1.0 makes under the porch accesible. I don't usually use the big rock on the retaining wall, there's a better if smaller spot on the stones further north, where there's that one with the hollow under and the twig ascent to the one next to it, best upper yard site I've found. The best of the bad lot in the sandbox I reckon is actually behind the oasis, where the sand climbs the side, you can get a decent setup under the overhang and nothing seems to go back there. I usually don't build on or under the table, rarely more than a small camp & cache in the pagoda despite the tempation of that large safe space, don't usually build closer to the Space-R than the ball, never tried the Battletoad island, might make a good hunting lodge. I though of a few you overlooked: I usually build at least a cache on the mushroom shelf at the exit from the hedge lab. In the exposed pipe where the maze key is, it's a Pain getting the foundation just so, but you can get an untouchable if cramped hideout in there once you do, and it's the closest good spot to the shovel. The log with the hatchet and field station on top is a good base camp for raiding the wood pile. That mesa with the rock and big leaf north of the Space-R loses it's value as a camp site beyond the early game, but is a great spot for a wafter deathtrap later on. Gonna have to spend much time next week finding new good spots in the final release.
Be careful about building on the lillypads. It can completely brick faction raids. If you're into farming bug parts with the waft emitter, it can spawn bugs on the other side of pond which you may not even of built over there.
Friend and I built our base at the first field station, using the rocks as a foundation for height. A few ant raids but nothing we can’t handle so far.
The juice box near the oak lab only sucks at night but otherwise the only thing that is a little walk away is weeds. Besides that, aphids and tadpoles are a hop away and the juice box gives you plenty of water. And if you hate enemy raids, just build a bridge to your base so you can pick em off.
the best part about the lily pads used to be that, if the spiders did hop over. 9 times out of 10, they missed the lilypads and drowned... free spider loot. (1.0 update made it so that loot is water damaged so it doesn't work anymore :( but i still really like the lilypad bases)
I built my starter base on the baseball and then never actually moved bases since in the shroom and doom update, around the time I played most, it was in the center of practically every resource… so now I’ve got basically a village around the baseball
@@lothedownlow4149 My base is on the baseball. Build a clay foundation in the center (so the foundation doesn't click through the baseball at its peak) and expand out. I have a 5x5 on there. No creatures can get up there or damage it. If wolf spiders roam during that time you can continuous shoot them with arrows and they'll freak out and stay stuck against it. Go strat for lady bugs too. Becareful of having red ant eggs up there. Red ants will spawn up there if you have them there.
@@lothedownlow4149 Yes if they are around the area at the time. First build the clay platform. When the Wolf Spiders jump they will land on the edge then fall off immediately. If not they'll stay stuck against the baseball at the bottom
I think the best place is around the solar lamp by the oak lab, Gnats fly to your base every night and they are a great food source. The only drawback is the spider coming out every night but I never got killed by it and later on I started farming this spider.
I haven't played in FOREVER. I had a huge Mayan temple/step pyramid built on the flat rock, a 4 or 5 story "Wizard's" tower on the bird bath, and base spanning the fence near the pond. I also had catwalks spanning across huge sections of the map. I'm afraid a lot of my building techniques may not work anymore though. They may have slightly defied physics.
back in my day, the mint mace, ladybug armor, and the wolf spider bow, were the best weapons in the game and the hardest boss was the wolf spider edit: insect bow i think not wolf spider bow
@@hmm6152 My physics breaking building techniques actually still work. I have a 9 story (and counting) building built on the rock near the start that was mentioned in the video.
(4:04) Where the giant rock is, I built a base right next to it like yesterday under a log and its pretty good, I blocked off the gaps in the logs to stop Orb Weavers from getting near my base and I use the rock to boss all bugs that get in my way, anyways good base suggestion if I ever make a new game for fun I could try the rock, anyways good video!
I always build on the mystery machine. Build a big base around it. The only thing I need to worry about is ants and orb spiders which we didn't get raided till we were already at level two. A wolf spider does patrol but you usually hear him and it's always at night
Personally I’ve been making my base on the Light post over by the Oak Tree. It’s really good location-wise and the 3 Wolf Spiders can’t reach you. Plus you can make it as a Zipline Hub for that part of the Yard, reaching the Hedge and Haze with a two way connection to the Upper Yard.
I have a main base at the axe chopping block by the termite hill currently. Just finally moved up from the hedge yesterday. Built a Zipline to the oak tree because we realized we now will have a hard time getting acorns and sap etc in the upper yard. Do you have an idea the best place to put a zip to go back to the upper yard? Is my best bet just turning that light post into a Zipline tower? Only been playing a week not too experienced with the building mechanics etc
I think out of all of these spots, the lily pads are best for building something massive on the water. In terms of recourses, I think the baseball is the best location.
There's a root directly behind the oaktree on the pond that I love to build on. It's a bit resource intensive to make scaffold to expand it, but it overlooks the pond, tons of sap catcher spots, and you can expand out onto the water after you get buoyant foundations. I'm also a big fan of the raised landing in the Mysterious Machine area - it has footprints in it, and you can just clear out some of the grass and have a nice chunk of land to build on. When Wolf spiders DO patrol the area, they tend to avoid that chunk of the Mysterious Machine.
Video idea.. advanced building locations and farming locations (weed stem farm, mushroom farm, etc) I feel like this video targets newer inexperienced players, which is great. However, most grounded videos do. Players that have been roaming around the yard since release probably don’t care about safety or proximity to recourses when choosing a base location. For example, no matter where I choose to build, my weed stems are collected and transported from the sandbox/picnic table area. My mushrooms are farmed from my 200 slot garden, crude rope grinded out from weed stems, etc. It can feel like a lot of work, but when you maximize the output it feels a little less grindy. And I’ve looked man.. I can’t find an advanced farm location video anywhere.. maybe I’m blind. But these are things I’ve learned for myself over the past 2 years playing grounded. A video showcasing the best locations to maximize farming would be well received I’d say.
5:15 I’ve been building my main base on top of that soda can since day 1. It has gotten a bit more dangerous when they added the wolf spider’s could jump but I haven’t had too much trouble. Just crouch and stay out of site and you should be fine. And faction raid’s are non existent. But I like the build a few base’s around the map just to have a place to sleep/store things while exploring a certain section of the backyard. Can’t wait for 1.0!!!
A good spot to build an outpost when you're in the area is inbetween the right pincer and eye of the sand box. It's 100% safe, no enemy patrols in that area. There's a huge abundance of weed stems and mushrooms in the area. Aphids and weevils often travel through the area as well. The only downsides i find is the lack of water (mostly relying on dew drops from grass) and the lack of resources like sap and the distances from other parts of the yard. I personally build a stem stairway up to the sandbox for easy access and have a little outpost there when i'm farming antlions. It's also a good spot for farming bees, black ants, gum and it's close to the entrance to the haze and black ant lab which is nice. It would make for a great spot to set up ziplines as well but you can't build on the sand box itself :(
I've just built a base on top of the compost box. Once you kill the green shield bugs up there then there's nothing else that ever goes up there. You can also zipline to anywhere in the yard and the build area is massive
I like to build on the mushrooms high up on the oak tree. It's completely safe and you have just about every resource you need around the base of the tree. It's height makes for a great starting point for zip lines too.
@@Sn1per_429 The stairs simply get you up there, or use jump pads. They don't need to actually connect to the base. The building foundation is on the mushrooms themselves. So aside from making bees or mosquitos angry, it's safe from all other bugs that high up.
For the sandbox you can build up in the flower pots over the oasis and build a little jump tower that goes down into the oasis. Nothing ever gets to that location and its up high so it's good for ziplines.
My friends and I also love the juice box location. After one too many wolf spider raids, we built a castle wall out of pebble foundation. We'll see how that goes lol.
I currently have a camp set up by the juice box by the oak tree. My intention was to build a enormously tall base in the oak tree with the intention of utilizing zipline to get to the various location around the yard. However the buildable area (directly) around the oak tree is limited and the Corrupted Wolf Spider has made a habit of visiting my camp. Which is why this video interested me. Tip regarding the sandbox, the prebuilt zipline from the picnic table to the sandbox can be daisy chained into a second (or more) zipline straight the your oasis outpost skipping most, or all of the sandbox dangers.
The location on top of the flat rock is perfect, the bombardier beetles and stinkbugs hardly ever agro you unless you walk through their tunnel, and the Orb Weaver doesn't come close often (you can take a lot of their hp with a bow before fighting them if needed) and you would see it coming round the rocks anyway. Plus if you've got ladybug armour, you shouldn't have a problem taking these bugs out. You're pretty much bang in between the starting field station and upper yard, pond is right near you aswell but not close enough to agro any flying bugs. Literally perfect location the only bug that can glitch it's way up there in my experience is red worker ants.
I built under the rock before realizing that they spawn there, they spawned inside my base constantly which sucks because I had a cool looking hobbit hole down there
What about a food source ? I started building my base here too but like there’s no food around at all so I’ve died to starvation 😂. Only main thing that seems to spawn and refresh around the spot are Dew drops so at least my thirst isnt a problem…
@@RolzareTTV If you're about to starve, there's an apple spawn just north, northwest of the rock. But save that for when you're desperate. What I do is look for the small mushroom spwans, (don't eat the mushrooms, store them they come in very useful late game). Normally you will find a bunch of dead weevil bodies and you can just pick up the meat.
@@RolzareTTV or an even better source of food is aphid island. Whole bunch of aphid and last time I played couple months back there are no predators around, maybe the odd mosquito.
those soda cans have always been my go to for bases. literally can't be raided or destroyed. I build on the one next to the field station and build a border around it so I can do research without being bothered, would highly recommend.
The first lily pad that you jumped onto from the shore, a wolf spider can jump on it... IF you agro it to do so. So don't build on the lily pads that are closer to shore. But, that twig that is on the shore and the bottom dips into the water, you can stand on the very edge of the twig and wolf spider cannot hit you. So shoot it with arrows until dead. They stay agroed and don't leave til dead. Easy way to get wolf spider parts.
I like to build on the roots of the oak tree next to the lamp. There are wolf spiders nearby but they can’t get you on the roots, and the lamp is a great place to set up ziplines.
It's my first time playing with friends, but we bulit our first big base on top of the juicebox with trampolines and ladders to get up (and recently ziplines). Even though the wolfspiders are scary when they come, we're safe up there and can even kill them from our base with a bit of luck. It's a really fun and practical base imo, but I'm a noob so I don't know if it could have been much better either ✨
The place I liked before some major releases of the game was the flat rocks up by the Frankenstein looking thing by the upper east yard. That was all unfinished but accessible, there was clay, sap, plenty of weeds, it was right next to the hedge but far enough away to not deal with any of the spiders. No aggressive creatures, TONS of aphids ladybugs and weevils. It was my safest/most favorite place before release. Safe, huge, and resourceful. The only downside was getting there 😂 tons of larva, mosquitoes, spiders. Then you have to avoid them while trying to build up to those rocks! But once you were up there and had a safe way up, it was perfect! Love the videos as always Milton! Thanks! 🙏🏻
After I realized you can get retaliation attacks I moved everything into the chop can and built around then on top ..nothing like this but it's the first video of anyone else building in the can ...it's perfect
I’ll just recommend this, you should always be looking to build on high spots with the potential to build a tower to zip line to your next base or resource, don’t waste your time and resources building low.
@@RolzareTTV I didn’t do it, but I like the idea of building high up around the oak tree, a full 360 view of the whole yard sounds nice. My main base is on top of the raspberry juice box beside the pond and oak tree. Plenty of food and building resources, I like the view and at night the wolf spiders walk right underneath but can’t jump up. After that I built mostly on lamps. Rose bush lamp, upper yard lamp next to pond, oak tree lamp, bird bath, highest rock in front of picnic table, lamp in front of shed.
I usually build right where the fence ends due south of the oak tree. Benefits: -Grass is very easy to harvest -Acorns very close -Sap Collectors are inside of my base -Proximity to Lake -eye line to most important areas of map so zip lines are amazing -dry grass is also there in great quantities. -weed stems are very prevalent Dangers: Larva (occasionally) Ants 2x Wolf Spiders 1x Stink bug (spawns directly in front of my base) Food sources: Aphid Weevil Water Flea Tadpole
Just recently started this game again Build base next to tree Make base, it’s bad to the bone Progress through the armour sets, making myself better slowly *orb weaver attack incoming*
1 year late, but I managed to exploit my way onto the mushrooms of the oak tree. There is a leaf laying beside the tree under the mushrooms that you can climb. Behind it, there should be some ledges and from there you can build ladders. I built 2 ladders up and made my way right under the mushrooms. I relocated the top ladder and placed under the mushrooms and jumped onto one. The great thing is you can build support pillars on top of the mushrooms!!! I recommend building stairs once you're right under the mushrooms, so that you can bring materials to the top.
I prefer to build on the oak tree root right behind the yard light. Before Home Stretch, it was fantastic for grub and sap farming, but even though you don't need as much of those anymore, you have access to acorns, grass, stems, shrooms, gnats around the light at night, dew drops here and there, and the central location makes it ideal. You can build a zip line hub on top of the light or up the side of the tree, and the oak lab is close so you don't have to make special trips. The only downside is the wolf spiders under the tree, but if I block off the exits closest to my base, they don't come by very often and usually only at night.
Oddly enough for me, wolf spiders became the easiest enemies for me to take out. It started because I needed poison from them. Now I clear all of them off the map, taking almost no damage.
@Logan Alan I use either lady bug armor or koi fish armor. Koi is better for perfect blocking. Also, I use the mithriditism and parry master perks. When they pull back to attack, it's easier than most bugs to time the block. I also keep plenty of beefy green machines for hyper stamina. Wolf spiders seem to die easy with the termite axe but a regular insect axe will do. I hope this helps you.
I'm currently pretty new to the game and I just finished all of the main labs and trying to get flavored globs right now but I found it's very useful to make a base around the place were you can analyze things (I have a 3 story base around the one near the baseball)
We like our location at the field station at the fallen oak branch. Fairly safe right there, but bombadier, ladybugs, stinkbugs, and larvae are close by as well as two people food spawns right outside our base. Lots of building resources and the log provides additional protection against attacks. Main downside are the mites everywhere are annoying.
This is where my main base is as well, built under the overturned hotdog tray that serves as the roof and back wall. It was extremely easy to reinforce with traps, and serves as the perfect spot to ambush the 3 patrolling wolf spiders nearby. It wasn't an easy place to start off - had to really hit the bed early and often to avoid the spiders, but at this point it's the perfect hunting lodge.
Very nice vid :) I built in every location you mentioned actually, and would recommend for newbies: 1- Baseball ball: For starter base, until you have tier 2 armor, axe and hammer 2- Retainer wall: For mid-late game base, it's simply THE best area in the game: Safe (Some Larvas may spawn on the rocks), close to Tier 3 resources (shed, epic stinkbug/scarab, termite land ...), with the entire lower backyard easily accessible with ziplines (= unlimited Tier 2 resources)
I actually built a base on the porch..not the one near the shed but rather the house, found out you can place stuff all along there, there are mushrooms dry grass, grass sap and branches to put sap catchers on, a research station 2 big food pois and most of all it is immune to all bug raids (of ground types) Only issue I’ve found is it’s near the paint bucket/larva rotten blade which makes it a pain from going to the base all the way to upper yard, and the red mites. Essentially there is a giant branch sticking up near the larva blade/hotdog casing that you can build on, i built a base on the highest tip and used a zip line to connect that base to the porch/step (first you have to build a bridge from the branch base to the porch and then add the zip line to transfer resources) It was a pain to build a transfer, took several days, but it’s near a bunch of mushrooms, the haze, grass of both type, orb weavers and wolf spiders (of which can’t reach you near your base) plus the porch gives drop down access to the hedge, haze, and near sandbox, with base protection against raids. Overall not too bad, just a pain to get to higher stages of the game because the base is cross map from upper yard, but it’s super protective
I built my main base in the top corner of the deck near the hedge. Staircase down the the ground. Also have a bridge that goes all the way across back to the mystery machine area where my starter base sits. I built a giant round tower that can zips all the way to the pond from the main base.
On the baseball I have a dreidel shaped base. At the bottom is a trampoline to get in, and I use the tower at the top for ziplines. There are three floors. First is the bed area (home level) second is my storage and crafting(also water collectors and cooking), and the top is the bottom of the zip tower. I use third level to grow shrooms for bricks.
High up oak tree base is best base now. Ziplines will go both ways with an upgrade. That means a central high up base will be best. Use it as a hub to get to anywhere you want and just find your zipline to get back once you're done exploring. The trek out will be the hardest part of the set up if you have enough web.
I built stairs from the baseball all the way up in the air, where I have an actual base with 3 levels. I have ziplines going in multiple directions so I can get all around the backyard.
I just built my home by the first field station and from then on made my 3 story castle with mushroom walls being the proper defense wall. If I were to make another base I'd choose the mid section of the tree, not too far from the bottom that it takes forever to make the base but not too close to the trunk level that spiders can jump into my house. That way when I set up ziplines, they can go everywhere easily.
With the baseball you gotta be careful for the side that's raised because the wolf spider can leap up to it if you're on that side I'd recommend making an extended overhang to hopefully avoid it
Wow, base number two at the mysterious machine is where I started mine before watching this video. I've built all the way around the rock and I have spike trap set up to snag lots of random bugs.
If you build under the oak lab all raids including flying ones can't get to you at all. Only thing to do is wall out the orb weaver at the bottom. This is easily done by building a wall just after the fallen segment towards the ramp down. It also let's you run right up into the branches for ziplines around the yard.
I always build m base at the edge of the pond near the juice box but like a two rocks down. Only deal with one wolf spider every now and then plus tons of resources near by. And a lab right under the tree. I Recommend this spot.
So I built on the top of a leaf and went for more vertical space than horizontal. It’s near the machine and the juice box in the beginning. You can use the beach to get on the rock and the climb the leaf. Mushrooms nearby, not too many hostile insects and the view is good.
log-place is best place to build a base imo, close-by Burgl.L enough food resources and dew-drops. plenty of T1 and T2 mobs to farm, pond is nearby. it is great to start out although it might be a bit tricky considering the orb weavers first.
Lily pads is my favourite place to build. Land creatures can't get there, even in raids. Raids actually never happen if you don't build anything on land. It's pretty central to the whole map.
I remember basing on the baseball. I added a ramp that allowed me to get up, but not the bugs. The moment i did, I got raided because they could finally access “my base”
My main base is on the rocks by the gnome. There's a rock formation you can built under but also on top of another rock, throw some walls up and you don't have to worry about anything
honestly my preferred base location is the clearing between Old Anthill and the blue Juice Box (can't remember the marker name) just at the edge of the Oak Tree's roots, it's not too far from the SPAC.R, access to a source that gives at least a little more food and water when waking up, safe passage to the Koi Pond and Oak Lap via walking on the roots and using the leaves and twigs as bridges, fast access to Acorns, only major threat is the spiders under the tree and, from the last time I played, only one of them patrols where that is, given I also like actually feeling like I'm lost in the blades of grass so I actually rarely build on top of something, the other location I found was right after the BBQ grill section was added, there is an alcove by the sand box that is big enough to fit a full team of 4 with storage, resource gathering and farms and to build vertically into it just gotta be sure to roof it off and it makes for a decent forward operating base as I also prefer to have one base that I pour a lot of time into and making perfect with a bunch of little other bases around the map for when I'm gonna be in those areas for a while
I use the little statue thing in the koi pond its a pre-built structure and it has a field station on it so its cool and the ridge on it is perfect for dew collectors and it doesnt need a lot of lighting and the tadpoles like to hangout under it at night so a constant food source
I think im gonna build on the baseball and then aphid island. Im fine with mosquitos but usually food and water is my problem in this game and that place is stacked. Time to experience 1.0!!
You can build off of surfaces. I built on a tiny brach (can only fit one tile of floor on it) as long as you have some flooring over the branch you can have multiple tiles floating. Most of my base is in fact floating. It looks a bit silly but, it isnt nearly as restrictive as this list.
The best late game stop in my opinion is the brawny bin if you put a zip line or a ladder/staircase (I prefer zip line) then it’s really easy to get up and there’s only been a green stinkbug up there for me but it didn’t respawn after I killed it and I’ve got over 250 in game days
imo, later game the best base is the tree, as you would have access to the ziplines and the ZIP.R so you can go back and forth, and you have two juice boxes near you, just an absolute pain to build though but worth it
Dude your second one was literally the rock that I have my first base on, in the one that I like the most I built a bigger house with a Barling stairwell on top connected a platform with little bridges and zip lines that go to different spots on the map
Just started Grounded and know very little, which i prefer. I have one question though, if you have several bases/outposts, how does the faction raid determine which place is raided?
I build my base on the oak tree, started next to the solar lamp with a staircase, from the top of the solar lamp i goes higher around a 21 stairs and build around the oak tree, i have plenty of space, and the zipline system makes my life a lot easier.
I've found out the hard way that the fence spot is not only surrounded by wolf spiders at some times, but they can also jump up there if there's no buildings
i just built on the ground by the starter field station. its pretty safe. even if you get attacked by a bunch of ants is no big deal. just hide from the rare wolf spider patrol.
I like the oak tree on the higher roots right above the pond. The only danger in the area is the orb weavers and I get to overlook those lilypads. Also the roots kinda act like highways to my base.
Me and my friend built a base inside of the big tree. So there ist a way you can glitch in the tree by placing a sleeping thing under the tree and then you just give up and you spawn inside the tree. And the we built really high up with an elevator made out if bounce pads. And yeah the base is so cool because you have a view over the whole map
I like to build on the soda can beer stump because it’s easy to build on and pretty easy to defend but it is in wolf spider path which is easy to avoid
Bro, in my very 1st play through with my gf, we did build on that fence at the end beside the big tree, best spot in the game, everything is close by. It is a bit harsh to survive from the start, but in the long run it is a gold mine !
The massive flat rock next to the tipped over the BBQ. You have access to all tier items easy access to upper yard and lower yard with unlimited access to all resources best location
Me and my friends built a base that’s up high on the trunk of the tree. Can zip line to everywhere in the map, because the base is just below the point where the tree trunk loses collision
I have my main castle on the porch by the house cause it's a huge flat area. But I have a tower and smaller base next to the baseball that has 5 ziplines to different spots in the yard
The baseball is the best base location, period. It's impossible for anything to get to it, and this is especially important when it comes to raids, because bugs can and will raid anything while you're away. You might not even notice stuff is missing, but they do steal stuff from your storage here and there. As long as something is connected to the ground, they can even steal it straight through walls. Creating a 2 way zip line from the baseball to the upper yard area is the best way. You can easily do this by building a zip line to the top of your roof, then building a ladder tower high enough to be above the koi pond bricks, allowing you to build a zipline to there. This allows you easy access back and forth between both sides of the map, and should be built as early as possible, which saves hours of travel time for various tasks, allowing you easy acceptable walking distance to virtually anywhere on the entire game map.
Another nice point about the lily pads is tadpoles are one of the most plentiful food sources. Water fleas can also be eaten raw and they give both hunger and thirst replenishment.
I thought it was the most
I never knew water fleas can be eaten raw. Thanks.
Glad to know I'm not the only one that builds there
yoo that’s where my base is

Thanks for the idea! I managed to make it better (what I think is better anyways.) if you put down a scaffold with a grass floor on it down near the oak lab entrance, you can then climb pretty high (already high enough to be safe,) but if you put more scaffold and floors down then you can get high enough up to make a zipline to the upper yard area. I saw this comment and decided to go into creative mode and try it out, and putting the starting scaffold at the oak lab entrance alone gives several good items.
1. Easy access to burgle, the resource scanner, the computer and analyzer
2. Easy food at the pond
3. Easy building resources
And then if you build high enough then that base can be your main base ALL game. The pros about it are:
1. Very safe, too high for most creatures
2. Zip lines to a lot of the yard, including the upper yard
3. Easy bee fuzz if you need it since they fly to the tree pretty commonly
4. Very nice view
5. Allows for night time building
6. You can make several floors (so far I’ve only made 2)
Cons:
1. it can be hard to build because of structural integrity
2. Resources are a pain to drag up the tree to the base
3. Zip lines are very expensive
4. It’s extremely difficult to wrap the base around the whole tree, but if you do so then you gain access to pretty much the whole yard
So honestly, for building on the oak tree, it’s good and bad
@@rumissileI’m sorry but the wolf spiders can get on there they jump onto the leaf and then jump onto the Lilly pad at least it happened to me and I hate the Lilly pad now

I have built several bases. My main base and hub is baseball. Have now distributed 12 bases on the whole map. Sandbox, on the pond, in front of the hedge, etc. They are all in places where no enemies can get. I connected all the bases with spider silk. No more walking to the next base :D
What do you mean you connected the bases with spider silk?

I meant zip lines^^
@@scrinbot Gotcha, thought there was something I didn't know about with spider silk
My main base is also right beside the baseball near spawn. I really really like it
@@harleye1235 Makes totally sense :)
That’s how I found the game too
The lily pad site has been my favorite main base pretty much all along, start on the near pads then expand into a floating palace.
I agree the best starting base location is definitely on the lillypads
Honestly, weevil sounds for me always is a huge plus! Never fail to make smile, those little buggers!
Same
the best part about the lily pads used to be that, if the spiders did hop over.
Is the baseball not to rigid
@@lothedownlow4149 My base is on the baseball. Build a clay foundation in the center (so the foundation doesn't click through the baseball at its peak) and expand out. I have a 5x5 on there. No creatures can get up there or damage it. If wolf spiders roam during that time you can continuous shoot them with arrows and they'll freak out and stay stuck against it. Go strat for lady bugs too. Becareful of having red ant eggs up there. Red ants will spawn up there if you have them there.

They may have slightly defied physics.
back in my day, the mint mace, ladybug armor, and the wolf spider bow, were the best weapons in the game
and the hardest boss was the wolf spider
edit: insect bow i think not wolf spider bow
@@hmm6152 My physics breaking building techniques actually still work. I have a 9 story (and counting) building built on the rock near the start that was mentioned in the video.

Nice video! The rock at 4:40 is where my base is. Relatively safe, easy access to ants and orb weavers, oak tree nearby, and a central location.
Same
And you can throw mushrooms into the mysterious machine to farm weevils 👍🏼 They don't get to the mushrooms to eat them, at least in my game.
The Oak tree is my favorite too. And with 1.0 i build around the light too
I just build around the tree itself. Takes a number of resources but it's worth the view.
I’m right next door at the juice box
Been building inside and all around that can since it was in early access as well
A good spot to build an outpost when you're in the area is inbetween the right pincer and eye of the sand box.
Can’t the base be destroyed if the staircase is broken?
@@RolzareTTV if you've got gear to take on mosquitos though, you could just go to the pond and kill a few tadpole every now and then.
6:06 I built around that tree and have a bunch of zip lines going everywhere. I named it Grand Central
those soda cans have always been my go to for bases. literally can't be raided or destroyed. I build on the one next to the field station and build a border around it so I can do research without being bothered, would highly recommend.
Oh good idea thanks
They can jump onto the roots now, so I wouldn't build there anymore if I were you.
I love this video because I only have maybe 20hrs on the game and I found zero spoilers for what’s in the future. Thank you
I always build my first base on the wooden wall next to tree (your number 3 spot). Everything is nearby... It's very handy.
Where would you recommend building ???
Benefits:
-Grass is very easy to harvest
-Acorns very close
-Sap Collectors are inside of my base
-Proximity to Lake
-eye line to most important areas of map so zip lines are amazing
-dry grass is also there in great quantities.
-weed stems are very prevalent
Dangers:
Larva (occasionally)
Ants
2x Wolf Spiders
1x Stink bug (spawns directly in front of my base)
Food sources:
Aphid
Weevil
Water Flea
Tadpole
Just recently started this game again
Build base next to tree
Make base, it’s bad to the bone
Progress through the armour sets, making myself better slowly
*orb weaver attack incoming*
Any tips on killing those things!?
@Logan Alan I use either lady bug armor or koi fish armor. Koi is better for perfect blocking. Also, I use the mithriditism and parry master perks. When they pull back to attack, it's easier than most bugs to time the block. I also keep plenty of beefy green machines for hyper stamina. Wolf spiders seem to die easy with the termite axe but a regular insect axe will do. I hope this helps you.
nice video! my fav spot to build is on top of the stone lamp near the oak tree
I'm currently pretty new to the game and I just finished all of the main labs and trying to get flavored globs right now but I found it's very useful to make a base around the place were you can analyze things (I have a 3 story base around the one near the baseball)
I usually build inside the starting cave, I build a roof over the opening in the top and a fence at the front, works really well
We like our location at the field station at the fallen oak branch.
Very nice vid :) I built in every location you mentioned actually, and would recommend for newbies:
1- Baseball ball: For starter base, until you have tier 2 armor, axe and hammer
2- Retainer wall: For mid-late game base, it's simply THE best area in the game: Safe (Some Larvas may spawn on the rocks), close to Tier 3 resources (shed, epic stinkbug/scarab, termite land ...), with the entire lower backyard easily accessible with ziplines (= unlimited Tier 2 resources)
I actually built a base on the porch..not the one near the shed but rather the house, found out you can place stuff all along there, there are mushrooms dry grass, grass sap and branches to put sap catchers on, a research station 2 big food pois and most of all it is immune to all bug raids (of ground types)
Only issue I’ve found is it’s near the paint bucket/larva rotten blade which makes it a pain from going to the base all the way to upper yard, and the red mites.
Essentially there is a giant branch sticking up near the larva blade/hotdog casing that you can build on, i built a base on the highest tip and used a zip line to connect that base to the porch/step (first you have to build a bridge from the branch base to the porch and then add the zip line to transfer resources)
It was a pain to build a transfer, took several days, but it’s near a bunch of mushrooms, the haze, grass of both type, orb weavers and wolf spiders (of which can’t reach you near your base) plus the porch gives drop down access to the hedge, haze, and near sandbox, with base protection against raids.
With the baseball you gotta be careful for the side that's raised because the wolf spider can leap up to it if you're on that side I'd recommend making an extended overhang to hopefully avoid it
My old base on the logs around the oak tree is abandoned because a wolf spider jumped it and took over
@@TheBlackTemplar730 same that was my go to base but the wolfs jumped up and theres sooo many orbs it was impossible to get back and forth safely
Wow, base number two at the mysterious machine is where I started mine before watching this video. I've built all the way around the rock and I have spike trap set up to snag lots of random bugs.
I built my base in the leaf by the mysterious machine! It looks really nice, and me and my friend are improving it to make it even better!
If you build under the oak lab all raids including flying ones can't get to you at all. Only thing to do is wall out the orb weaver at the bottom. This is easily done by building a wall just after the fallen segment towards the ramp down. It also let's you run right up into the branches for ziplines around the yard.
Have a great day
I’m on my first play through and built my base next to Aphid island so it’s cool to see I just so happened to chose such a great spot
I always build m base at the edge of the pond near the juice box but like a two rocks down. Only deal with one wolf spider every now and then plus tons of resources near by. And a lab right under the tree. I Recommend this spot.
I live there too with the juice box as my wall

For real
And a lot of eal grass sure it's a swim but if you have fin flops + it really easy
I think im gonna build on the baseball and then aphid island. Im fine with mosquitos but usually food and water is my problem in this game and that place is stacked. Time to experience 1.0!!
I have built at the edge of the Sandbox with a Bridge leading to the Picnic Table (Zipline HUB) - In my opinion the best looking Area.
Would you recommend building on top of the lantern right next to the oak?
You can build off of surfaces. I built on a tiny brach (can only fit one tile of floor on it) as long as you have some flooring over the branch you can have multiple tiles floating. Most of my base is in fact floating. It looks a bit silly but, it isnt nearly as restrictive as this list.
This game reminds me so much of Ant Bully. I had the video game when I was a kid and played it all the time.
To get started I like to build under the leaf by the mysterious machine because if I decide to stay nearby I can turn it into a storage place
1:10 the roots say "yes"
5:38 i always build a starter base _on top of_ that juice box
Thanks a lot bro. I’ve been grinding for about a week now lol. Does anyone know if you have to feed your pet?
I like the oak tree on the higher roots right above the pond. The only danger in the area is the orb weavers and I get to overlook those lilypads.
Also the roots kinda act like highways to my base.
Me and my friend built a base inside of the big tree. So there ist a way you can glitch in the tree by placing a sleeping thing under the tree and then you just give up and you spawn inside the tree. And the we built really high up with an elevator made out if bounce pads. And yeah the base is so cool because you have a view over the whole map
I love your water base, that was very cool!
I always build next to the juice box near the machine where all those clovers are next to the dry grass where the spiders reside
I build on the oak fence then have a zip line going down either side only you have is the oval weaver but they are easy to kill from your base
Girlfriend. Sure…
@@greenMTN_boy Whats that supposed to mean ?

Me and my bf literally play all the time together, what’s your deal?
I just put the various “crafting”tables at a few of the hubs. I don’t make a base till tier 2 or probably on the verge of 3
This seems like a great game. I just started playing yesterday
The massive flat rock next to the tipped over the BBQ. You have access to all tier items easy access to upper yard and lower yard with unlimited access to all resources best location
What's your opinion on the classic Oak Tree House? Just a big floating treehouse high up in the oak tree.
The side of tree for me. Absolutely safe from all enemies and you can zip line to any point on the map.
Love how you say “on” : )
Thanks for the ideas! I just started playing, so this gives me a good idea what to look for. :)
At the lily pad you forgot to mention the patrolling mosquitos but its a great place if you build at the center
