What a lovely object. I hope it drives as well as it looks. Morgan seem to be quietly on a bit of a roll at the moment. Henry’s presenting and delivery is brilliant and the cinematography fantastic as always with Carfection vids 👌
Beautiful car - I've never got used to that Aero look, and it will no doubt uphold Morgan's legendary reputation for performance and handling. As a lifelong Morgan enthusiast I'm resigned to the fact that flat rads went out in the 1950's, but I can't help thinking that the demise of sliding pillar front suspension is taking things a little too far. Unfortunately prices have now risen to such a level that a new car is the preserve of the very wealthy, so I'll just have to live on the memories of the three I have been fortunate enough to own.
In my youthful years, the early 70's, I bought a Morgan +4 in British Racing green. I was in love with the styling, the leather belts over the hood, the tires (Dunlap 'Doggie Bones they were called), the spoke wheels...all of it. It came with an Austen-Healey engine. At the time it cost $2,000 which was expensive back then, but not exorbitant. In any case, I also loved the quirkiness of it. The fact that although it had an electric starter motor, the car could be started with a hand crank which was just under the hood. I also loved that in the owner's manual said, "Periodically check and tighten all bolts." Given that the chassis was made of wood, that seemed to make sense. :) Sadly, mechanically, it was one issue after the other. I had to order a new tonneau cover from the factory in Malvern-Links, in England while I lived in California. The major problem though was over heating. I took it to several mechanics and none could find the problem, despite me buying a new radiator and most every other cooling part. In the end, after a couple of years, I gave up and sold it to a Morgan dealer in San Francisco, (even though it was no longer running), for $1,600, which at the time, I considered a great deal. Of course now I wish I'd hung on to it as I sill love the styling, not to mention it's vast increase in value. :-)
I have a 1979 4/4, about as trad as it gets. Personally, I love this and can't wait to see a 4/4 with this chassis. It's a great step forward. the only negative is the thick tops to the front wings. Can't wait to drive one!
Only change I would ask for is the removal of the 2 dials in front of the driver and the fitting of a larger screen, an 8 inch would probably suffice, so I can see navigation maps without having to use a magnifying glass.
so even Morgan hasn't developed a manual gearbox adaptation for this drivetrain yet, and I guess the electric steering from the BMW is carried over, couldn't imagine how's that gonna feel honestly.
Jay Wong well the M240 still has a manual I believe so it’s really up to Morgan just to put it in I would imagine. And are you sure this has BMW EPAS and not a more traditional steering setup?
@Peder Hansen Speaking as someone who has depowered their Miata steering rack I tend to agree, but remember the age of the typical Morgan client. I bet power assist is very welcome to them.
Peder Hansen for the Miata, you can go two routes. Mine is just plugging up the power steering lines, but people have also gone a step further and disassembled the rack and filled it with grease to replace the fluid. I love the feel currently so I haven’t bothered taking it the next step. For newer cars it’s not so simple though. Electric only racks might be able to simply be “unplugged” but that might freak out the electronics. Electro-hydraulic units could be just as complex but also have issues with plugging of power steering lines etc.
Yup. I'm sure the auto trans is great, but how can you have such a traditional car without a manual? That said, the demographic that his car appeals to may prefer an auto. Consider the popularity of the Alpine Z8 (automatic) over the standard BMW Z8.
So where’s the satisfaction from getting yourself covered in that unique mix of grease, dirt and mud while fixing it yourself? I guess this appeals to a newer generation of Morgan enthusiasts, but I do prefer to be able to fix things myself, even if it ends in failure, there’s still a satisfaction of attempting something myself.
Still a classic British dream car. From my point of view the best in the world. Would have to win the lotto for one of these. Still one can appreciate the hand built quality.
Mile unless bmw/Toyota offers one no way Morgan has the resources to engineer one themselves. Plus I think I’ve read nothing but good reviews about that ZF8 speed.
The B58 has been available for years with a manual box. We'll see of Morgan adopt it. The old Plus 8 was fabulous. Can't wait to drive this one. Let's hope the dealer's keep them upright this time.

They aren't competing numb nuts. This is a low production hand built car and the z4 and supra are mas produced. This will be far more expensive. @@greabo9544 stop talking shite. Some morgans are extremely fast. Only the plus 4 is the traditional sports car that isn't meant to be overly fast. Get some knowledge bud.
Not difficult, the biggest problem is taking the torque without shredding A lot of classic car EV conversions keep the stick shift, it works similar but you just don't need to use the clutch in first, and you can leave it in higher gears all the time if you want
Ryukachoo There is really no need for a gear box in an electric vehicle as the motors would send immediate maximum torque to the wheels for optimum acceleration. But it probably could be done for the driving experience, it’s just quite pointless in terms of performance. Yeah, you’d theoretically get more torque at higher speeds, but an electric motor already has a _lot_ of torque and a subtle drop off (at a much higher speed than you’d expect) when compared to a combustion engine and given that is sent instantly to the wheels, there’s really no point if you’re looking to better performance...
