Thanks for the video. I am glad I watched it before I start installing my kit. It will definitely reduce the amount of head scratching that normally goes with this type of project.
Very nice job with the hoses and clamps. Better safe than sorry and this is build to last! Sweet! Just a thought depending on where you live, but down South or South East, the engine may have had plain water in it or just need flushed. Prestone has a bright yellow two part can that was sold by GM as well. I am most likely wrong but look for part number GM 1234678 to see or ask for "Heavy-duty" cooling system cleaner. It is marked but with the system just a few pints low, open the top of the can and a power cleans the block, heater core, water pump and radiator. It does not harm aluminum radiators but does an excellent job of cleaning. The bottom portion of the can has a neutralizer to stop the cleaning action. The block and plugs at the bottom of the water jacket that never get removed. They may not come out, yet flush with cold water and hit a little compressed air into the cooling hose to stir it up. You might be surprised how much dirt comes out. nice job with lighting and camera. That too is work when doing a video! Great job.
Man - just went through a bunch of your videos. Really helpful, thanks! I'm in Wylie and just bought a 64. Looking forward to meeting you some day at one of those truck meets. Cheers!
I figured you must be close - given that you went on a 'quick summit run'. :D I'm new to old trucks and my new car knowledge doesn't help much so I'm binge watching your stuff. You're doing everything I am planning to do eventually. @@Chickeneyegarage
Another nice helpful video, you did the, exact same thing iam doing, my gear box and rag joint came in today !My pitman arm on Monday from jegs, pump and pully I have , also my bracket just like your,,again very nice, video keep them coming
Great job on the video and the install...nice truck. I'm fixin to do the same power steering add on to my 66 chevy ll using a "stock type" ps gearbox...THANKS!
Very helpful mate, I'm looking into purchasing the kit from Australia. my truck has A/C and trying to figure out if its possible to set the pully up to the power steering. not having any luck
Great and informative. I am having difficulty mounting the gear box due to the weight and the owkward body position. did you have a helper for that part?
This was helpful thanks. What kind of lower alternator bracket do you have? Is it bolted to your ram horns? I need to figure out an alternator bracket set up for my “65” with a short water pump.
Did you ever figure out your alternator bracket? Mine is like yours and I'm having a time with the belt routing. The lower bracket makes it nearly impossible to remove the power steering pump filler cap
Yeah I’ve got the same issue. I have loosen the p/s belt to get the cover off. I think there might be a way to rotate the position of the res on the pump the make it line up better. I didn’t want to go through the problem of removing all the fluid and the pump right now.
I want to go back to when you were doing the intake gasket on the motor at the end of that video you were putting on the air cleaner wouldn’t the air cleaner too big for the base?
It is. I used an 11” base and filter from k&n. It lets air in from the bottom instead of the engine trying to breathe through the tiny hole of the air cleaner. It’s the easiest thing I could come up with without drilling holes in the air cleaner
One other question in the same video, you said you changed the springs on the carburetor and you went all the way to the biggest one. I had the same problem on mine. I had the yellow and changed to the orange a lot better. What was your reason going all the way down to the biggest one. Thank you.
@@armandomendiola2490 I believe I was referring to the accelerator pump squirter. The springs you’re talking about are the step up springs. They are based on vacuum your engine. Generally, if you’re engine has 15” of vacuum at idle you will divide it by 2 and get 7.5”. The stiffest spring edelbrock makes is 8” which I think is the silver one. However you will need to try out different springs to see which one works best for your engine. That’s just a starting point.
@@Chickeneyegarage thank you I went from the yellow one to the orange one and it ran a lot better but I’m thinking of going down one more see around a little bit. I got a little bit of smoke coming out of the carburetor when I turn it off just gotta play with it little bit. Thank you.
2 groove crank pulley cp38811. If you want to run ac then you will need a single groove crank pulley cp38812. I’m using cp38808 double groove power steering pulley. Double groove water pump pulley cp38813.
Did you just hook up the hoses , fill fluid, and turn lock to lock? Do I have to flush the system? I just bought one and didn’t have instructions Thanks
Yes I went lock to lock until the squealing sound went away which was fairly quickly. I didn’t flush anything. You shouldn’t have to if everything is new. If something is being reused then you probably should.
It’s a 350. You would have to have the exact same pulleys and brackets to use the same belts I’m using. But I can get you part numbers if you still want them
Thanks for the video. I am glad I watched it before I start installing my kit. It will definitely reduce the amount of head scratching that normally goes with this type of project.
Thanks for getting back, I really enjoy the videos,
Thanks for taking the time for these videos. I'm having a hard time all around
Thanks for doing part 2. These have been super helpful!
Will be watching your work in the future. Very complete.
Thank you for making these, I just finished the power steering conversion on my 66 and your videos were a huge help, thanks!
Glad my video helped you out.
Great overview of project and very nice video. Love the progress.
Thanks

Thanks for all the details, I think I’ll be doing them same.
Great tip on the thread chaser, saved me a headache. Thanks,
I’m glad my video was helpful to you. Makes it worth it for me
Dude, Great info and video for use on my ‘64 C10 long bed step-side. Thanks!

sweet! I am getting ready to do this same thing but with Captain fab bracket, and junkhard power steering box and pump just with new hoses.

Great video and work. This is gonna help my project
Glad I could help
Great videos
Thanks
I'm in the middle of this job on my 66, pulley alignment and figuring out what I need is a PIA!
What’s not lining up
Good job thanks for the video
Very helpful mate, I'm looking into purchasing the kit from Australia. my truck has A/C and trying to figure out if its possible to set the pully up to the power steering. not having any luck
Sorry for the late response. I think you will need a 3 groove crank pulley to operate ac, power steering and alternator
Good job!! Do you have a video of installing the new aluminum radiator? That is next on my list, as is installing the fan shroud.
I do not. Didn’t have the GoPro at the time and my old iPhone 6 wouldn’t rotate sideways to record videos.

Great and informative. I am having difficulty mounting the gear box due to the weight and the owkward body position. did you have a helper for that part?
Thanks. I did it by myself. It is hard to support the weight and line everything up but I managed to get it.
Thanks for these two videos. I'm going to do a power steering conversion on my 66 Chevelle this winter. Would you recommend the CPP kit?
I would recommend it. So far I have had no issues with my kit. I love how it steers, very responsive.
Did you do a frame off restoration? Your chassis looks awesome.
Thanks brother. I did not. I painted the front frame when I did an engine swap.
What color did you use to paint your engine, looks good. I got to rebuild my 350 and I don't mind the orange but I don't love it.
Duplicolor ford gray
This was helpful thanks. What kind of lower alternator bracket do you have? Is it bolted to your ram horns? I need to figure out an alternator bracket set up for my “65” with a short water pump.
It’s the factory original bracket that was on the truck and yes it bolts to the manifold. Do you have accessory holes on your cylinder heads?
Did you ever figure out your alternator bracket? Mine is like yours and I'm having a time with the belt routing. The lower bracket makes it nearly impossible to remove the power steering pump filler cap

are you using aftermarket wheels up front to clear the discs, 15X6? A year later any issues?
Wheel vintiques series 62 are the wheels I’m running. No issues with the power steering. I highly recommend this kit.
Did you have any problems getting the return line to tighten properly into the gear box?
No, I had no issues.
I want to go back to when you were doing the intake gasket on the motor at the end of that video you were putting on the air cleaner wouldn’t the air cleaner too big for the base?

What CPP PN was the pump kit? Assume it came with hoses, etc.?
CPP6366PSKS is the kit I’m running.
You will need to get a pulley for the pump. Part# CP38808 is the pulley I’m running. Hope this helps
Do you have the cup numbers for the pulleys you used? I will need same ones

I seem to have an issue with the rubber brake line rubbing on the wheels?
Are they too long? How wide is your wheels?
Is your motor a 283? If so what size belts did you use as I have the same in my 65
It’s a 350. You would have to have the exact same pulleys and brackets to use the same belts I’m using. But I can get you part numbers if you still want them
My 283 has double pulleys & alternator in same spot as yours thanks for video!
Do I need to remove my bumper bracket?
Yes and you will need to trim the corner off for it to clear the steering box
Where did you get your pump pulley?
Classicperform.com
Or you can get it at summit racing. Part number 38808
Is that a light on the driverside hood or what?
It’s a spot light on the cowl. Was there when I bought the truck
